Walked in to a manager meeting in the middle of the store. Not really wanting to hear your problems with employees days off. Still no goat butter. But numerous cow butter. Checked out by who I think is the manager. Not a happy person. Have encountered him many times and he is never happy. Asked that my cold items be bagged in the two isolated bags I provided. My two cans of coffee and one large potato went in there and my meat and eggs did not. It's pretty simple. Just common sense would do it. But I always ask because this happens frequently. I love thing, I don't know why ... After I rung up my groceries and paid, this attendant came up behind me and reprinted my receipt, checking to see if I'd stolen anything!!!!! VERY GOOD deli sandwiches here! A young lady with a nose piercing made me the best Italian sandwich, and it was fresh, and they can customize on the fly. For about 10 bucks, these are easily 2 meals, and way better than a chain restaurant. Great attitude and quick, too. read more

I used snackworks to find one very specific item I was not willing to purchase off of ebay, expired at that to have on hand for my Mother's Day theme party and this Vons, along with a couple other locations within 20 miles of my home appeared as having them. I drove over first thing in the morning and there they were, sitting in all their glory on the cookie shelf. I snagged the two boxes that were out and decided to check their flour stock as well. To my surprise, my fav unbleached King Arthur was sitting there too. So, I'd say this was a hella success 5 STAR trip to this Vons for what my current need was. Very happy camper! I'm not a normal Vons customer, I mainly shop at Ralphs and Trader Joes but if you're looking for something specific (I'm being very kind to let the cat out of the bag) this location just may have it. I don't understand the negative reviews people are leaving. I shop at this location multiple times a week, during all hours day and night. The whole employee team that works there (especially the Nightshift) are seriously the best. The employees at this location actually work hard and that is rare to see in stores these days. I believe the issue for this store are the customers that shop here because a majority of the customers act so entitled as if they are gods gift to the world. Preparing for a hurricane/tropical storm is stressful to begin with, especially as I had been in one of the worst a year ago in Florida. Tonight as a tropical storm approaches us in SoCal, Vons was extremely busy which I understand. All of us - including myself - were coming in to purchase water and other not-so-perishable goods. After spending a few minutes in the back of the line, an employee told myself and everyone behind me to "go to 4" which we understood to be checkstand 4. Suddenly, the bald male cashier started berating us and me in particular, telling us "no one told you to go there, the line is closed" and even when others assured him someone told us to go there, he kept arguing and treating me like I'm some kind of crazy person. Ultimately we found the person who told us to "go to 4" and it turns out we all misunderstood it - he meant AISLE 4 where there was a line! And then we were all told to go back to the back of the line, despite already waiting in line for 15 minutes. No apologies from anyone for the miscommunication, though at least the employee who told us to move was polite. Bald Guy continued almost gloating about how stupid we were, and I admit I used some foul language toward him that perfectly described him. but long story short, I got kicked out of the store by a "security" person named Tim who looked and sounded like trailer trash. He was dressed slobby and honestly didn't represent the store any better than the bald guy who had his perceived superiority complex. It's a good thing he didn't touch me physically or I would have called a lawyer, as nothing about my behavior would have suggested any physical violence. Again, it's a stressful time, surely for him as well... but whatever happened to "the customer is always right?" Even though of course, they aren't... but maybe at least pretend? I loved the convenience of this Vons, even though the prices are 2x higher than comparable stores ($8.99 for a 12 pack of sodas, even if it's buy one get one? Get real.) I really came to like some of the employees who I'd see here over the years. But to treat customers so poorly and not give the benefit of the doubt that maybe there's a miscommunication is insulting and trashy. Likewise, there were extra employees on hand at this time and, I don't know, maybe they could have just opened register 4 since there were about five people who thought they were told to go there? Even if we were wrong in the end, it was no reason to mock or treat anyone like they're stupid. (I also acknowledge that my own behavior could have been better, but I have heart and anxiety issues, was worried about this storm, and REALLY didn't want to be talked to like I'm stupid.) read more

Vons is what it is. This location on North Pass Avenue is convenient if you are staying across the street. The market itself is average. It's not Gelson's but they try to do their best and the employees are friendly and try to be helpful. They have a lot of Quaker oats but not a lot of gluten free cereal. Don't bother shopping here after 9pm The woman night manager here is one of the most consistently unpleasant people I've ever met in a retail environment . I've been shopping here for 12 years, and I don't think I've ever seen her make an attempt at any sort of politeness towards her customers. They only have 1, or if you're very lucky 2, cashiers at night so the lines literally will stretch halfway down the freezer aisles. For a long time they had very ironic signs posted that state if more than two people were in a line, they'd open a new register. Never happened. They have self checkout registers but for the longest time they closed them at 9. They recently supposedly started keeping them open until 11, but in reality they close much earlier, seemingly based on the whims of whoever is working. Don't bother mentioning the discrepancy, you'll be treated like some sort of scum bag for daring to question them about their own policies. It's open 24/7, but starting around 10 they begin unloading inventory. I don't mind stepping around boxes but the inventory employees act like you're the biggest pain in ass for daring to shop at night, as if they're totally unaware that you spending your money there is the reason they have jobs in the first place. Basically everyone who works here is a testament to the downside of unions. With strong protections preventing their firing, these people can skirt the rules, be rude, and offer the worst customer experience, and still keep their jobs at the end of the day. If you're going to shop here, come while the sun is out. Otherwise I recommend the Ralph's on Ventura and Vineland. Also open late, but with self checkout open all night, and with employees that are courteous, or at least not overtly hostile. read more

I don't know how many horrible reviews I need to Post for 'managers' at vons to do something about this place. Their just for u didn't work and over charged me again. They have told me this happens quite often and I need to call customer service. I didn't get much help but go the run around. It's funny because just that specific item didn't work but rest worked for just for u. So it's literally hit or miss. In 2021, This Vons was not 24/7, but ever since they opened back up 24/7 I prefer this grocery store over others. They are very clean and it's easy to find what you need. The only negative is because people like to steal, they take away the handheld carts once it gets dark. But I do appreciate that they have the reg size rolling carts and the half-size. read more

Purchased a sub sandwich on 7/4/24. Today 7/5/24 I began to remove bread so that I can add mayo and found this bug sandwiched between the cheese and lettuce. In normal circumstances I would simply throw it away, however Vons is a place I frequent often, so I wanted to alert management on what I found. I took proper documentation of the bug in the sandwich and threw it away. I happened to be nearby so I went to speak with someone about what I found. A manager happened to be on register. I was immediately met with doubt that this could have happened at the store, they stated that the bug must have gotten there when I ate outside. I DID NOT eat outside, I only opened the sandwich inside. I was a bit dismayed by their lack of concern for what I may have ingested or the potential health hazards. Instead I was told that the sandwiches were made fresh every day and that their standards are high. I understand that mistakes happen and things surely can slip by protocols. So this review is mainly on the customer service provided. It was accusatory and lacked professionalism. Dealing with a manager I was rather shocked that that asked to see the pictures again, and began to scroll through the photos. I then was asked if I wanted get ANOTHER SANDWICH! On Sunday, 10/30/22, around 3:30 pm, I went to the Vons store on 301 N Pass Ave Burbank to purchase a gift card for a birthday gift. When I approached the cashier and placed my purchase on the counter, she asked, how will you pay for this? I told her I was going to use Apple pay. The Cashier stated we don't accept that payment type anymore because of Fraud. I told her this was strange, and I stated I had never experienced anything like this. Apple pay is a credit card, I told her. (Note Apple pay is a Mastercard credit card) I stated, "I didn't understand why it was an issue, but ok, I have another credit card." I pulled out my credit card to pay, and she said sternly, " Do you have your ID? ". I said yes, and she continued, "you should be happy that we check IDs." I just asked her to finish the transaction so I could get out of the store. Note: Other Vons store use Apply pay. What was very dis-hearting is I was racially profiled. I ordered from this store in the past and received wonderful service. I never had a complaint. This one experience has ruined how I feel about shopping here. I've been shopping at this location's bakery for 20 years.and it has never been less than amazing for all those years. I started off getting the Tres Leches cake. I don't think I see it there anymore. I recently got carrot cake there and eclairs. They were both delicious. I think they must use real butter. I hope they never lose their baker. I've also had the Italian cream cake. Every dessert I get there is delic. Thankfully this Vons is far enough distance from me that I still have good glucose ratings. No diabetes yet. Last Friday, July 14th afternoon, went to Vons at Pass Ave, Burbank, 91505: I bought a turkey tenderloin, priced $11.49. I chose the one with the sticker of "manager's special, 30% off". As I was not paying attention when it was being rung, i discoverd when i came home that they did NOT apply the 30% discount. So before going to dinner the same night, i went to Vons and showed them the sticker and the receipt (unfortunately, i did not bring the product as it is raw meat and it was very hot outside). One of the bagger told me right away "oh you are not going to be given the discount, you have to call the no. at the bottom of the receipt" i was laughing becuase i truly thought he was playing with me and realized he was not. Long story short, one cashier told me to fall in line again and they will give me the discount. and i did - unfortunately, the cashier have to consult with another cashier (this time i felt so uneasy as the line was getting long behind me)- this was already like 15 minutes long, but when I saw the cashier going to the customer service stand, she said she has to confer with someone again as i did not bring the product, I gave up and left. Granted i was only going to get $3.60 cents back but I wanted for them to give me that discount as i specifically picked that one. I dont do this often. Anyway, just a note: I HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE ONCE AT RALPHS, STUDIO CITY, ABOUT A YEAR AGO, AND I JUST WENT TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO QUESTIONS ASKED - GAVE IT TO ME RIGHT AWAY!! That is service. This store is actually a good store but the service provided for this area is not up to par. I waited in line so long to be serviced. There was 3 people total one was making sushi and the other two were at the far left one was servicing a customer another was slicing meat. I wasn't acknowledged once oppose from the female employee looking at me twice. Another customer walked up and was helped before me I've been standing here for 10 minutes. Finally another worker comes up and he starts to help he was great this is nothing towards him but this location always have issues whether it's the microwave not working or customers being ignored. The night supervisor who claims she has worked for 30 years for the front end needs to work on her customer service, for she is very lousy and careless. She even gave me an attitude when I asked her to bag my groceries for a small order! From my personal experience as a long time grocery worker myself: I can tell you that She mismanages the front end of this vons location, for she lets the check out lines build up to reach "the longest lines I have ever seen", and as I've already mentioned this is at night when you'd expect it to be slow. I have observed her just standing behind the single cashier with self check out closed without a care in the world and watch the lines build up. I know she has the power to open a register because I've been through her check out line before. One of the employees heard me complain about this supervisors and advised me to take my complaints to corporate or higher management, for they were also careless and powerless. The night grocery department staff is very sloppy when they stock the shelves. They block off full aisles, constantly are in your way, and they stack boxes until they fall and create dangerous shopping conditions with trip hazards all over the place. Her name is Claudia (Supervisor) and was inclined to overcharge and give me a lesson on what fingerling potatoes were tonight. The produce section had loose yellow creamer potatoes and I deliberately chose the oval shaped ones for $2.99/lbs. She hesitated entering the PLU and punched in fingerling potatoes at $3.49/lbs. She insisted they were the fingerlings and after a moment of debate. She reluctantly said she would change then to 'yellow creamers'. Vons is the SoCal version of Safeway and it is conveniently located right across the street from the Hotel Amarano. It is perfect if you're staying at the hotel and refuse to pay $5 for a bottle of water or $7 for a bag of nuts. Just walk one block and you can purchase decently priced grocery items. The store appears to be well maintained and stocked. I found everything I desired at ease and the checkout process was not a hassle at all. Perhaps I came in at a perfect time. I did notice that they did not have any self checkouts installed. Looking at the long lines in the Yelp pictures it seems like self check stalls might solve that problem. Maybe one day? read more

Distance makes the heart grow fonder. I moved, and didn't realize how good this Vons was compared to other stores in the area. I'm not saying this store got any better--it still has all the problems it had before, and the deli is hit or miss (mostly miss, really depends on who is working), but my perspective has changed. I'm not saying the aisles are suddenly paved in milk chocolate, and there are rainbows in the vegetable department and the workers are doing backflips and breaking out into musical numbers when you walk in, but what I AM saying is it can be much worse. As I mentioned before, I moved, but I'm back to driving a few miles to keep shopping at this store--I know the layout, the deli (hit or miss, still mostly miss) is open until 9PM for people who work late, and this store is open 24 hours. Maybe it's nostalgia, maybe it's the fact I survived the worst of 2020 via this store, standing outside in a line for two hours in the parking lot like a Soviet during a Cold War ration-fueled shopping trip. The Vons closest to me now has a deli that closes at 7PM, is half the size, and closes at 11PM. I really need to give a shoutout to the butcher Wednesday around 4 pm. He was super kind, and funny and helped me pick out the perfect Mac Daddy, bone in, rib eye for my romantic dinner I was planning that night. I forgot his name, but he was super friendly and had a good sense of humor. He was a breath of fresh air! The store is set up very lovely. It's like walking into a country store. Fresh flowers, wood grained style floors, big bins of fresh fruits and veggies. It's just refreshing and the appearance is just very nice. The cashier was friendly and the lines were abundant and prompt. In and out, no problems! Awesome. ***additional note...There is a Starbucks inside the store!
