I just don't know where to start with this Vons. It has very negative energy emanating from it and from many of its employees; particularly one individual that works the self-checkout. Very bad energy emanating from her. She kind of looks you up and down and not in a good way. Makes me feel uncomfortable. I kind of feel that she has racist undertones against those that are not her kind. It has happened to other YELP reviewers who have posted on here. She treats people like they are criminals. I am not sure what managenent is thinking by having such a bitter & unhappy individual overseeing the self-checkout. It is not a good look for Vons. There is never anyone at the customer service counter. Lines are often long. Merchandise is often not fully stocked. Meat is not choice. Vegetables & fruits are subpar. Prices are high but it does not reflect upon the quality. Paying high prices for mediocre quality is not something I desire to do in these economic times. The list goes on. Not the cleanest either. Stopped shopping here all together. It's a shame bc other Vons locations are well run, clean and fully stocked and have a nice selection of organic choices. I really like Vons! They have really all I need and are open 24/7. Everyone who works there has been super kind! I may say it is a little on the expensive side for certain items but some of their deals are on point! Btw they have awesome roasted chicken you can get in 3 flavors. This place is crap. My co-workers and I frequent this Vons because we are always running there to grab snacks, lunch etc.. on our breaks and lunch time. EVERY single time there is some lady in the deli area that will literally look at you and just keep doing what she is doing. They will ignore you until you either say something or just stand there staring at them. They are the worst! They are always out of condiments for the sandwiches and have no organization as far as who to help next. I went in today to get some chicken and literally stood there for 3 minutes while the deli (didn't get her name) lady with a huge attitude belittled an older gentlemen on how to arrange the toppings for the sandwiches. He finally asked me if I had been helped, and when I said no, he felt embarrassed and said "i'm sorry you had to hear that." This place is a joke. I have never been anywhere where the employees look so pissed to have to be helping the public. News flash, don't get a job in public relations if you can't handle the public. And the fact that management has let this slide, especially after seeing the other reviews on the same subject is unreal. read more

The bakery here ruined my daughters birthday. I came in person and placed a custom cake order a week before. When I went to pick it up, the bakery employee told me she had no record of it and it wasn't there. I had my yellow order sheet but she just shrugged and said she didn't have it. She did not even apologize or seem concerned in any way at all. She's the employee that has a mark in her eye so I know she was also the person that took the order down. Went to grab some grits real quickly in the morning around 10am with my grandma and nieces the store was pretty busy with only a few cashiers open which was annoying. Atleast self check out was available. However I was really disturbed at the extreme pda from two employees at the parking lot. It was very overly sexual and made others so upset because of the children around. What was shocking is that both were still in uniform and tried covering it up with a front car sunshade yet the black civic door remained open at a point it was pretty bad and what made it worse was having my nieces and other customers around. read more

This particular store is in a very convenient location. And staff have for the most part been friendly. However, this store is in dire need of an update. While it's nice that they have a Starbucks inside, they still don't have any self-checkout registers available. Lines for the cashiers tend to take a long time, which is the worst if you're only buying one item. Service at the deli tends to be on the slow side as well, usually due to it being understaffed. Hopefully this store will get it right soon. It now has competition with Whole Foods down the street. read more

I was killing time before my doctor's appointment down the street and didn't want to pay at their parking lot so I parked here. Since I was here and needed to get bottled water, I went in. The store is very well arranged and it was easy to find what I was looking for. I do also buy Powerade which I need two bottles a week and saw that they had a great price if you bought it in lots of 10. This one is not near my house but if I'm in the area, I would shop here again. read more

This used to be a great grocery store. Then they added self-serve checkout and dramatically reduced the number of humans to check you out at a cash register. The self check-out is difficult to use because the counter height is at knee level so you're constantly having to stoop down to place an bag your groceries. There always seems to be a problem with somebody checking out and the line gets held up while waiting for the person supervising that area to fix the problem. The lines for in-person check out is typically halfway down the isles. More problematic is the fact that many items the store used to carry consistently are no longer available and items they do carry are consistently are constantly out of stock. Thank goodness for Amazon fresh and other deliveries type services. read more

I go to this particular Vons at least 2-3 times per month. Today they OVERcharged me on two items and it's a good thing I ALWAYS check my receipt BEFORE leaving any store. Double check your receipts especially at this store. Not only did they OVERcharge me on both items, they didn't give a care in the world. No apology (even if not heartfelt), NOTHING, except - "I just do what the machine says". This was before 7am. Workers were walking up and down (including a manager) watching this one line grow longer and longer..NO offer of a second checker!! This store overall is not a friendly nor particularly clean store. I love sushi. I've been eating it for over 50 years. When time is short and I need a sushi fix, I frequently buy some from a grocery store. Lately, the quality has suffered at several grocery chains. The rolls are poorly made and small, there's very little actual fish, or it's mushy, and there's a great deal of cheating going on. This isn't the case at the Ace Sushi enterprise at Von's on Pass Ave. in Burbank. Ma, the proprietor, takes pride in presenting the best quality sushi for her customers and there are many. She believes that quality speaks for itself and she doesn't want to cheat her customers in any way. When I discovered her sushi recently, I was pleased with the quality, abundance and freshness. I'm willing to pay a bit more for these things. Quality, freshness, great customer service and kindness, these things matter when you're looking for tasty, satisfying sushi. I've been coming here for 15 years. This location is similar to the BOA review. Parking here is super tough at times but once you find a spot have no fear. This is your typical version of publix on the east coast. Service here is as normal as any other supermarket really in Southern California. The deli and seafood workers are really sweet and kind. If you're not a local you need to definitely ask for a Vons Card here. They are free, and can save you a lot of extra cash for sure. This location has always been average to me but a definitely easy in and out here if you need something common and not specific. Pet friendly as well. read more

Open late and in a central location, it's well kept, but some items tend to run out as this is a high traffic store. Parking: Because of the high traffic, parking can be difficult at times (they share a parking lot with other businesses like Starbucks). Checkout Lane: Lines are LONG. 12 item or less lane usually NOT open (oddly). NO self checkout! Prices: Reasonable, overall what you'd expect from a Safeway/Vons. I go here to get GT Kombucha because it's cheaper here than at Ralph's. Bags: This store still carries plastic Bags, but I'm sure we'll soon see the movement to reusable bags/charge per bag. read more

Attitude. Their attitude sucks. Especially on week ends. On week days I have to wear my 3 pc suit. When I stop by they are very nice, helpful. On weekends I wear gym shorts, old t shirt, I dont shave. At this visit I got stupid attitude, I got no help. We got 5 x 12 pack of sodas. The cashier gave an attitude. My wife said to her" dont worry we will put it up on the belt, we were only trying to help you. Attitude. This is sad. I am a sales person by trade. Whether a $100,000 deal or multimillion dollar deal, I treat my basic clients as well as sophisticated clients all the same... With good attitude and friendliness. I'm a sucker for 24-hour grocery stores. And this one isn't Wal-Mart, so...Bonus. Before I recently moved, this was the spot for all grocery shopping needs. They have a wide selection of healthy and unhealthy foods to enjoy. Plenty of liquor is in stock and they even have household needs such as cleaning materials, toiletries, chemicals, kitchen ware and almost any goods you need restocking. Other cool features of this store include and in-house Starbucks for all of your expensive coffee desires while shopping, a deli, a fresh meat market (or butcher or whatever you call it) and a bakery. All good things here. Don't forget the $5 Fridays. Some crazy deals! Giant $5 subs. They are usually well-staffed and I've never had to wait for a very long time to check out. BIG TIP: Oftentimes, they sell a frozen back of two wild caught salmon for $5...That's INSANE for that quality of salmon read more

First time shopping here and was not impressed. Staff and cashiers were rude. After a huge line backup they hopped on the speaker to announce "there are TWO lines, down aisle four AND three. When we hopped in line for three they had made us feel like we were in trouble for standing in it and gave us dirty looks. We didn't cause more of a backup, we were just following directions. The worst experience I've ever had with a cashier. After completing my transaction, I discovered immediately that my clipped coupons did not ring up with the sale price, even though I entered my Vons reward card. Not only did the cashier give me attitude when I mentioned what happened, she acted like it was my fault and accused me of already using the coupons, which I didn't. She said the coupons didn't take because the wallet app had to be scanned by her and enter a mobile number doesn't work. That's news to me as that's what I've always done in the past with no issues. So she scans my wallet app and it didn't work for her either. She also tried to hand me off to another employee and she was unwilling to help me either. Really horrible customer service and I definitely wont ever be going back there. read more

This was erroneously entered for Vons Glendale earlier. No, it' s for the Vons on Pass Ave. Management is lucky that I am yelping instead of contacting the health department by email to notify them about their deli. When I ordered a half pound of potato salad the deli clerk asked me what size container I wanted it in, and since they sell by weight I responded "whatever size will hold a half pound". That was not the answer she wanted so she chose one herself and put a pound in it. When I reminded her the request was for a half pound she didn't look pleased. But she removed some, put the container on the back counter and walked toward the other end of the counter. Then she comes back, picks up the container and tries covering and wrapping it in saran. No lid, just saran. And tries to slap the scale generated weight/price label on it. My response was " I'll need a lid on that.". Her response "we are out of lids we don't have any."  And you didn't advise me of that when you were pushing me to select a size of container why??? Like "We're out of lids but would you like a medium container?"?! So, understanding that not all the cashiers do their own bagging, and thinking ahead to what could happen to a sloppily semi-wrapped container of potato salad between my basket, the conveyer belt at check out and in a bag on the way home, I took the rude customer way out and told her to keep it. When I mentioned it to the person at the service desk I was told that they'd ordered the lids but probably not received them. Pardon me if I'm being picky, but that to me is tantamount to an open container and therefore a health hazard to the consumer.  No, I'm not going to wait for the manager to check. I'm taking the rest of my groceries home -properly wrapped/secured. If that's their managements level of concern, doesn't give me any confidence in their deli section. I haven't been here since my last review and needed a deli counter product right away...why not pop in since they are very close to my house. Well, there were two people ahead of me and it literally took the lone clerk FOREVER to slice the first customer's three items. She moved liked her shoes were made of sand bags and relied on us customers to determine "who's next". Luckily another worker "eventually" emerged from the back to pick up the "slack", and, I was eventually able to order my simple non-sliced item and get on the ridiculously mind numbing long check-out line to make it out of there within a completely unreasonable amount of time...after being regaled by employees whom possess the charm equivalent to a hockey brawl requiring multiple suspensions. I don't live in the area but visit pretty often to visit friends in the neighborhood - and I always forget to grab a hostess gift, luckily this stores liquor aisle is well stocked and I've never had to wait very long on weekend evenings for check out. read more

I no longer go in this store because I find no one that works here is the least bit friendly...feels like a cattle call when you are in line. Anyway, so I do resort to Instacart once and awhile to get some of my favorite store brand items. Never again! My shopper informed me that a certain item was not available, but sent a photo of a replacement. I saw the price and said SURE! I forgot that stores/Instacart uptick their prices and I understand that. Not sure who's fault this was but my item was up charged 13%! I started checking some of the bakery items that have the prices on them...same thing. What a ripoff. Also, each store is responsible for their website/stock and I know it can't be updated every minute, but with barcodes there should be a system where items in or not in stock could be reflected....other stores will say 'likely out of stock'. You spend all that time making your choices AND replacements only to find they don't have either one. I guess it's back to in store shopping at Smart and Final....great prices, fast checkout and friendly checkers. OH I FORGOT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING....OUT OF DATE ITEMS!! TWICE I got totally expired food and Instacart was gracious enough to refund me, I hope they got their money back from this Von's. The items came from the deli items. read more

I have always enjoyed shopping at this store until recently. Recently I stood in line at the meat Dept. for over 30 minutes. Thinking that the Store Manager didn't know what was going on, I went to the Help Desk and encountered a man who said he was the Store Manager. I told him no one was helping the customers at the Meat Counter and he replied: "The customers can wait because we will be here all night" and then he laughed. Well since I was one of those customers waiting I didn't think his comment was funny. I then saw a lady who said she was the Asst. Manager and I told her what he said and she said: "Oh that's just his sense of humor, he was just kidding". I don't come to VONS Burbank to receive Jokes and rudeness from employees whose purpose for being employed there is to provide professional customer service to the customer. The VONS Corporate Office should most definitely look into the evening Management team and update their Customer Service skills. I want to continue to shop at that location because it is in my neighborhood but I don't want to experience that Manager/Asst Manager's unprofessionalism again. Please talk to them. usually I'm not one to write a bad reviews as I currently work in the service industry myself. However, tonight after picking up my wife from a pretty stressful situation at work I went to this location to purchase a bottle of wine. I admit I was cutting it close to the cut off time however I was still within the parameters of purchasing alcohol. I was talking with a nice couple in front of me about what is going on in Ukraine and how it's affecting my in-law Ukrainian family and they let me surpass them in line to beat the deadline. I got up to the register and the cashier David purposefully cancelled my payment the first transaction and had me re enter my card, the payment went through however he said he was unable to give me the wine due to the cut off. I paid for wine I am unable to take from the store due to his demeanour. He told me he "isn't going to give me the f*cking wine" and to come back tomorrow to talk to a manger to get a refund. I get that there are rules and regulations with selling alcohol but the abhorrent attitude and the purposeful "mistake" infuriates me. I don't understand how DENNIS is still working there. Mind you I worked in Vons and this is one of the reasons why I quit in the first place. Everyone there lacks customer service skills and talks down on you treats you like garbage. I bought alcohol at 11:30pm today I showed DENNIS my ID and he asks for both my ID and card (that is not the process btw) I showed him and my card and my last name didnt match because I recently got married and it shows my maiden name and he didnt want to sell me the alcohol??? After asking Claudia she said that is fine because I match my ID picture obviously. It shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. My card declines and I told him I was going to use another card I asked my card to my husband and to resend me my money since we always split our grocery bill which he then proceeded to shout "u can't do that its against the law!" I even told him I have proof I can show you that I zelled him my money. He then proceeded to shout "If you are the one with the ID you need to use your card not his card Its the law, its the law" I told him that is my alcohol I am using my own card my money he then started arguing with me to show him my card i showed him twice but still got heated and throwing a tantrum denied my whole purchase and started banging all my stuff on the table because he thought I was using my husbands card? This went on for like 15 minutes its really ridiculous the way he acted and getting into my face I literally had to tell him to shut up the way he was screaming at me infront of all the people!!! I'm writing this review on Jane(cashier). I'm a customer of Vons and I also do Instacart. Jane has helped me out many times, and she always has sour face attitude. She never smiles,she is rude. I don't think she realizes her facial expression of annoyance shows.Every time I come to her lane when I do Instacart. She is unprofessional and unwelcoming.I have no problems with any of other employees. The rest of the employees have been always nice and helpful,when I need help finding an item.Jane needs to refresh her customer service skills. read more
