Not bad Came here for some KFC and it wasn't bad. The padak chicken was probably my fav. Came out hot and juicy and topped with lots of scallions with a tangy dressing (that had a hint of horseradish). The yangnyum chicken was too saucy for me and the sauce was rather thicken. We also tried their new chicken ssam which was solid. Juicy grilled chicken with lots of fresh veggies on the side. Overall, a solid experience. PSA: Apparently you get 15% off if it is your birthday but only if you make a reservation. We asked if they could offer it to us despite not making a reservation (we didn't know about it beforehand) but no dice. Oh wells, now we know.

Original crispy fried chicken is 10/10. Juicy chicken, great fried batter, and perfectly seasoned. The spicy flavor was a little too spicy for my liking, but it's good as a secondary flavor. I'll probably try another flavor next time though cuz it's too spicy to enjoy a whole batch of it.

Chicken is good, especially yangyum chicken. I would eat it there if possible because it does get soggy by the time you take it home. DO NOT get the kimchi fried rice. It has no flavor but also jalapeños and bell peppers which gives it a very strange taste. The kimchi is not fermented enough to make fried rice and thus has no flavor.

5/5 Crispy Chicken is actually quite crispy on outside and the meat was tender inside, not dry. There was some type of seasoning that made it a little spicy and it was really enjoyable. I see why this is a top recommendation! 3/5 Yangnyeom Chicken was really saucy and the flavor was slightly tangy, sweet, and mildly spicy. Chicken texture was also pleasant but felt the flavors were overly saucy. Picked daikon was refreshing and crunchy. The coleslaw side also had too much sauce/liquid. I appreciated how they had gloves in case you wanted to eat with your hands. Super filling portions if you get a combo

Came here because there was no wait for a table on a Saturday night. Beer selection: 3/5 - has Soju but only 1 Korean beer, Cloud. The other options were like Shocktop and Stella. Food: 3/5 - Rose Ddukbokki: (2/5) tasted like Kraft Mac and cheese sauce. - Vons Special Chicken: (4/5) decent but nothing special. I should've tried a different flavor. Service: 4/5

Nice service, delicious food. The fried chicken came out piping hot and crispy, and I love that they offer you gloves to eat with so you don't have to get your hands dirty!

A good spot for Korean fried chicken if you're in the area. Service is pretty quick. Ambiance is okay, it's a little empty when I went. The chicken is on the sweeter side for my taste but I enjoyed the crispiness. They also provide gloves which is a plus.

Von's Sunnyvale is hands down the best Korean fried chicken in the Bay Area. The Sunnyvale location is the best. I get the Von's special sauce boneless chicken. If I want an extra treat I get the Honey butter cheese chicken. If you want less sauce you can also get the oven baked chicken with the special Von's sauce on the side. Even the mild Von's sauce is very tasty but can also get spicy. Lately there's been more parking in front of the restaurant. The daikon radish and Cole slaw sides are included and they r very good! I've had my birthday here a few years ago and they have 15% off. It's a very fun place with nice vibe and very delicious chicken. I always take some chicken home because it is large portions.

Crispy Fried Chicken wings with Honey Butter

The prices have gone up a bit but they have the next fried chicken wings in town. We stopped in for their $13.99 weekday lunch special. Everything was so so good. I ordered 5 honey butter fried chicken wings with a beer and a salad. The wings were really crispy. Love the honey butter fried chicken. I got a salad for $1. It was a generous portion with the house dressing. So so satisfied. Beer was only $3.99. Hubby got the cheddar chicken wings with a generous portion of kimchee fried rice for $1. Very satisfying lunch and we have 4 wings left for dinner with some kimchee fried rice.

The chicken was lowkey dry but the yangnyeom chicken was saucy enough to make up for it. The saucy sauce was weak (but i have a strong spice level). The green onion one has like a wasabi taste so its not my flavor. Go try it and lemme know.

Yangnyeom (top) and Soy Garlic (bottom) boneless chicken with beers (Cass and Kloud), coleslaw, and pickled radishes

Summary: Huge pieces of juicy boneless chicken coupled with friendly service warrants a repeat dine-in visit. I have to say, I prefer this place over well-known korean chain, bbq chicken. The chicken was freshly fried and crispy on the outside while piping hot and juicy on the inside. I prefer ordering boneless, so I can't say much about the bone-in options. The yangnyeom sauce was pretty standard and does pack some spice if you order at least medium heat. The soy garlic flavor was mild, which was a positive to me as it served as a nice counter to the spice of the yangnyeom and an extra crispy bite as it is not saucy. I appreciate getting a nice amount of radish and coleslaw as included sides, although the coleslaw could use less mayo.

Chicken is always good here. We got the crispy (half order), japchae, fried rice cake and rose tteokbokki (not pictured). Service was pretty fast since not that many people. They have a ramen bar if you're into that. Clean and small location.

    Rose tteokbokki

While craving Korean fried chicken, I recently stopped by Von's for lunch. Their fried chicken had always been on point, being perfectly cooked to be both juicy and crispy at the same time. I ordered both the crunchy and crispy chicken as well as an order of rose tteokbokki. While both orders of chicken came out piping hot, I did notice a change with the crunchy chicken batter. I did notice that the normally light, airy, and flavorful chicken recipe had changed. The crust is now much denser and lacking in seasoning. I'm a bit disappointed with the change and next time, I'll stick with the soy crispy chicken instead. The tteokbokki was also not very tasty this time. The fish cake was mushy, instead of chewy/bouncy, while the sausage was dry and overcooked. The rose sauce was nothing to write home about. I really appreciated the friendly service and value of the meal; however, today's meal definitely fell short. On the plus side, it looks like they offer a lunch special with an order of fried chicken and fries for just $13.99 from Tuesday to Friday. Pros: Fast, friendly service. Good value for the amount of food I received. The drumsticks were absolutely massive. Cons: Crunchy chicken recipe has changed and it's way too dense and lacking in seasoning.

Ask the Community - Vons Chicken

Do they accept google pay or apple pay?

I know they accept Apple Pay .

Are there gluten free chicken options?

    Is the chicken halal?

It is not. Only the Von's in Milpitas is.

Are the chicken wings "full wings" or wing pieces?

    Wing pieces

Is the fried chicken dairy free?

Not sure if its dairy free. I think it has to do with the batter that they mix and use. I don't think their menu indicate indicates it.

What is the difference between crispy and crunch fried chicken?

Crunchy fried chicken is a different batter, think more like bonchon. Crispy is like KFC's extra crispy recipe, but even more crispy crunchy and you get delicious garlic/soy vons sauce.

Do you open for lunch on Thanksgiving day? Thanks.

Sorry but we close on Thanksgiving day.

Is Vons Chicken free range, organic, and/or air chilled?

@Mete C. It's obviously not free-range, organic, and or air chilled.

Do they still open on Xmas day? (12/25)

Sunnyvale location close on Xmas day. Concord location will open on Xmas day. Thank you!

Here are the (unfortunate) changes: They changed the greens from assorted salad greens with vinaigrette to broccoli that is WAY too salty. They used to have picked carrots with the dish and now removed them. The chicken this time was drier than usual and we always get dark meat with skin which is typically the juicier one! Chicken rice flavor also wasn't spread throughout and had some plain white rice. The chicken soup has changed for the better though. FYI best sauce to get with hainan chicken is the ginger scallion oil. Quick service and easy to order. There is an in-store tablet or we ordered through the toast app with no fee.

This place is a 3.8/5. The chicken is good but it needs something, like a sauce. The sandwiches and wraps come with mayo but it needs a sauce like most other chicken places have. It's overpriced chicken that's fine, but not worth what they're charging compared to other authentic Korean spots and their service is just horrible. When they first open they were more chill about just handing out the sauces and spices, but I guess overtime like every other business they start to charge for them. Today when I asked for 2 spice packs which is $0.50, I handed a $1 and the cashier goes "do you want your change".. Also, it's priced differently online and idk if that's just because of Uber. I ordered the chicken wings box at their in store kiosk and it just says it's the chicken wings box. It doesn't say anything about it being original or spicy like other Korean chicken spots and visually looks like original compared to their Nashville or squid ink one so I'm going to assume it's original but maybe I just need to ask right thinking I might be able to also do original and Nashville or the squid ink. So I asked the cashier if they could offer half and half if that's an option and she says "we don't have original we only offer spicy wings". Felt a little bit misled and almost asked for a refund because my kids don't handle spicy food well that's why I wanted original or half and half. But we were already hungry and there so just dealt with it. Even their menu above the cashiers desk just says chicken wings box, no option or selection for original or spicy and again it visually looks like it's original but if you look on delivery apps it also shows but no option. So I'm just entirely confused and curious if people have been getting what they're not paying for which is technically false advertising. If I hadn't said anything either or taken it to go, I most likely would've been at full surprise as well with not getting what I wanted. Our order came with 2 drinks which were pretty much room temp.. as we were waiting for the food I'm observing the restaurant and it's been as dead or quiet as when I first came by. Im in the area pretty often and I rarely see this place packed, it seems to have always been pretty quiet compared to when Pelicana was there. asked for cups of water and the server asked "would you like ice with that or just waters" I requested with ice. She comes out with waters with no ice and I'm like wait can I get ice with it please and she goes "oh we don't have ice". THEN WHY'D YOU EVEN ASK ME IF I WANTED SOME WTF LOL she didn't even come out or say anything like our machines down or whatever are you okay with room temp water just gave us room temp water and sodas and even had the audacity to ask if I wanted some KNOWING DAMN WELL you didn't have any. Overall, service and experience was not it. This review should be 1.5 stars at most but I gave it 2 because the food was fine, just the service and one bs after another with this cashier that ruined my appetite. After 2 common experiences with this place, I won't be coming back to this establishment and I prefer Pelicana's. If anyone's looking for better and cheaper KFC, just drive a couple more blocks down to Wolfe and try BBQ Chicken. Still in my top 3 KFC spots, just came here so the kids can try.
