The answer is definitely as good if not better! We ordered two types of chicken. 1) Crispy spicy wings - delicious, juicy and spicy flavorful wings! Nice crunchy coating covering a juicy tender chicken wing. Yummy! 2) Baked Special Sauce drumsticks with a sweet sauced crunchy coating. My daughter loved these! She thought the legs were perfectly cooked to the correct tenderness and juiciness. We will definitely be back again soon. Hopefully they will open up the Cupertino site soon. Best service where they go above and beyond - especially Alex(?) who was so friendly and kind. Ordered a large batch of chicken and sides for a pool party I was throwing in Redwood City when I realized we ordered from the wrong Vons location. Gave them a call and coordinated someone else helping pickup my order and they were so friendly and accommodating. My friend also has severe lactose allergies and they answered multiple calls about which foods she could eat and were very knowledgeable about their entire menu. Would highly recommend coming to this Vons for next level service and some good Korean fried chicken! Had a craving for korean fried chicken and this place definitely hit the spot :) We split 3 half orders between 3 people and barely finished. My favourite was the crispy Yangnyeom Chicken - it was crispy and saucy. I also liked the Vons Speical Sauce Chicekn - this is oven baked so it definitely feels like a healthier option haha. The third one we tried was the crispy fired chicken with honey butter - I thought this one was just okay and it had a lot of sweet powder seasoning on top which I didn't love. I love Vons! I've tried other locations before, but my partner picked dinner up for me from this location while I was sick. I ordered online, and our order was ready for pickup on time. Unfortunately, the sauce on the side was not packed, so he had to go back to pick it up as I called to ask if we could grab them. They were very apologetic and even gave him some drinks and extra sides for us as an apology - really kind and not expected at all! I always get the half crispy fried chicken with sauce on the side - usually medium or spicy. The chicken is so crispy, and the sauce is so good. Getting it on the side ensures they don't get soggy, especially in transport. Their fries are also really good. Mini salad is a good side to have for some freshness. This is the real KFC...all the others are all imitating. When you bite into crunchy fried chicken, it's supposed to fight back. No, not like the bloody roof of the mouth banh mi bread fight back, but it's supposed to do what the name implies - crunch. The yangnyeom is more of a spicy sweet sauce and the honey butter is on the salty sweet end! I definitely liked the honey butter powder more versus overly sauce-y fried chicken - subtle but makes you want more. I'd say a full set could feed about 2-3 people! Decent sized wings & drums. For the flavor, tbh this was my least favorite - although it was sweet with a hint of savory the flavor did not hit the spot completely *crispy fried chicken : this was fried chicken the a sweet soy glaze and I really enjoyed this one! Was done perfectly and loved that crunch in every bite! *yangneom chicken: not sure if I spelled this right but this was the chicken in the reddish orange sauce and was my favorite. Lots of flavor and has hints of sweetness which I loved. Definitely the most saucy of the three. So are they called Safeway Chicken in other states? Vons Chicken is a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant that seems to be present in a variety of spots while being loosely connected. This is the most well-regarded and perhaps longest lived location, having Yelp reviews dating back almost exactly 7 years ago. Its also the specific store which I've seen recommended on the Internet, so I chose this one for a Christmas Eve Friendsgiving of sorts. I was advised by my friend that it would take around 25 minutes, but after placing the order via the website, I got quoted a ready time 20 minutes following the order and arrived in just about 20 minutes to find my order already bagged to-go. After bringing it to my friends' home, we commenced with the feast. Aside from blatantly ignoring their BOGO drums offer (not sure if it's just this year, but it lasted about 2 weeks and ended today), we did try to optimize value. They split the chicken parts within an order if desired, but you'll lose some volume, so we had a "Half" size order of fried drumsticks split between honey butter and cheddar ($16.99, on the paper menu under "E") and went went wings (+$2.00) for a Half size Crispy Fried Chicken ($15.99, labeled as "B"). I was satisfied, but not blown away. The chicken was pretty good inside and the exterior was crispy and breaded, but not shatteringly so. The drumsticks were a bit more prone to some sort of oil soaking. The soy garlic (that comes with the Crispy chicken) was delightful, but the honey butter was some sort of unrecognizable powder topping and the cheddar was a more recognizable powder. The Cheddar French Fries ($5.99, same powder as the chicken) were crispy when fresh but got fairly soggy later on, an issue which you'd think they could avert when they do especially crispy chicken. The complimentary pickled radishes were fine. Be aware that they don't allow you to set any pickup time except for "ASAP" and the three sets of utensils which I requested were completely omitted from my bag. I only got one napkin. I will consider checking out a different, more convenient Vons Chicken if I get a craving for Korean Fried Chicken. I do like them, but I don't consider them a must-try yet. Perhaps eventually I'll end up trying all the other KFC options around and find them inexplicably inferior. read more

This Vons Chicken is the best one I've been to in South Bay Area! This place has the best service compared to the other ones I've been to and they give a good amount for the sides. The server was super friendly and the service was fast. They came to refill our waters multiple times too. For two people, we got the mild crispy fried chicken in the full size which comes with twenty pieces of wings and we chose radish cubes for the sides. We also got the sweet potato fries which were really good. The chicken sizes are big and they give a lot of radishes for the sides. This review is specifically for this location. The first Vons in the area and the only one that's consistently delicious. One of the only fried chicken places that reminds of South Korea. Fried chicken in Korea is the bombbb and Vons is the closest thing for me to get my fix. I have no clue how they do their batter but the crunchy chicken isn't heavy and full with flavor. I usually come for lunch and order the boneless chicken, crunchy, mild soy garlic sauce. I always get the radish and rice on the side for the perfect combo. The Kimchi friend rice isn't too bad. But I only get it if I'm itching for kimchi. Weekday lunchtime can be crazy busy so come early if you can or later in the day. I like that they have a couple TVs and play music so the vibe is casual and not too crazy. I've been here during dinner as well so it's a great spot for chicken and beer! Service is A1. My friend brought me here around this time last year. I didn't know what to expect I just knew we were going to go try fried chicken. We made our way inside and got seated right away. We got a menu and picked 3 or 4 different flavors of chicken. We got up and served ourselves rice, coleslaw, and pickled radish (unlimited while you dine-in). An older woman took care of our orders and was on top of it at all times. The food didn't really leave much of an impression and that was my first and last visit May 2019. Fast forward to June 2020 and I had this massive craving for fried chicken. I saw VONS was on Doordash but decided to call in and order for pick up. I ordered a half order of the crunch chicken and half order of the spicy crispy chicken (all drumsticks). I didn't remember what flavors I had tried last year so decided to try these. The girl taking my phone order was clear and concise taking my order in less than a minute. She told me about 15-20 minutes for my order to be ready for pick up. My bf picked up the order and noted the cashier was distracted as it took her a moment to realize he was standing there to pick up the order. When I got home I opened the bag right away to make sure the chicken had air so it wouldn't get soggy. To my surprise it was packed in a way that it could vent and not get soggy. The spicy crispy fried chicken was my favorite. It had the perfect CRUNCH and the flavor was so delicious. Every bite I took I absorbed all the flavor. The chicken was cooked throughly. The crunchy fried chicken was too bland for my liking. It wasn't cooked throughly as the chicken was still slimy. Pass on this one in the future. The coleslaw was good and so was the radish. I don't remember them tasting this way the first time I tried them. Our order was neatly packed including napkins, forks, 2 small coleslaw sides, and 2 pickled radish. What can I say, this is addictive and I will never get tired of this. Located in the same plaza as Hankook Market in the tiny corner. This place will never disappoint. They are as always delicious and still crunchy by the time we get home and that's given the 880 eternal traffic trek home. We put in an online order so that we can just grab and go and they were really quick with it. Chicken pieces were always big portions and they don't skimp in our radish side dish. Didn't see coleslaw though as we usually get it in some other Von's location, but that's okay. Order online or in their kiosk outside. This location of Von's Chicken is one of my favorite spots to get good quality, juicy, crispy fried chicken in the area! You can find them in the same plaza as the ever so popular Hankook Market. My top favorite is the Crispy Yangnyeom Chicken and their Crispy Fried Chicken. Their chicken is always so fresh and perfectly fried to perfection. Be careful with their spicy levels though if you aren't used to ordering hot foods. I do wish they had more sides to choose from to pair with the fried chicken than just fries and fried rice. It would be nice to be able to have other veggie sides that are more affordable and not as loaded/heavy as their $12 salads. We finally tried this place after wanting to for so long and consider us addicted! We got the crispy fried with honey butter half chicken, and the crispy yangnyeom, which we got spicy. Both were absolutely incredible. The crunch on the chicken was perfect, and the yangnyeom was super spicy, almost too spicy, but it was okay because we alternated between the honey butter and the yangnyeom, but it was also very flavorful, garlicky, and sweet and addictive. The honey butter was a very unique flavor but we really enjoyed it too. The pickled radish that it came with was delicious and complemented the meal perfectly. The pieces of chicken were HUGE, with just those two things it was almost three meals for us. Now that I have a taste for Vons you can bet I will be back. read more

The place is clean, service is prompt and their food is delicious. We ordered two flavors. The garlic and bbq. Both were prepared perfectly. Two orders was just enough for a group of 5. Seriously finger licking good. We also added the glass noodles which was so yummy! It has a good amount of onions and both red and green bell peppers. Prices are a bit more than you'd expect for fried chicken which is funny because there is a KFC across the street. When I left, I was seriously contemplating taking an order to go for my hotel room. Always nice to check off another place off my bookmarks...I've tried various Bonchon's and am a regular at 99 chicken so I wanted to branch out and try other places so here's the verdict: We weren't really sure what to order and were recommended the honey butter chicken and the crispy chicken (same thing as soy garlic sauce chicken I believe)! In the picture I thought the white stuff on the honey butter was like Parmesan cheese or something. No... it was straight sugar. Not good. My boyfriend and I spent the majority of the time trying to scrape the sugar off. Took off one star for that. Not really suited for our taste buds. Our favorite was the crispy chicken! So so crispy and so good! The chicken pieces are definitely smaller here than it is as 99 chicken but we didn't mind so much. Kimchi fried rice: my boyfriend really enjoyed this one with our chicken. Only downfall is that there's no fried egg on top. Overall, I liked that there are way more flavor options than the average Bonchon's and 99 chicken, however the honey butter one was definitely a miss. If you want to eat chicken, you have to try this place. They have both fried and roast chicken, and both of them are delicious. The prices are also pretty reasonable if you come with a group of people and split a couple of chickens. The crispy fried chicken is my favorite. It's fried perfectly so that the skin is super crispy, but the meat is still tender and juicy. The garlic soy glaze added a delicious flavor to the chicken, and my only complaint is that it could have used a bit more of the glaze. If you don't feel like eating fried chicken, the vons special sauce roasted chicken is also really good. The roast chicken is tender and the sauce gives it a great flavor. The sauce had a mostly sweet flavor with a bit of spice and it was pretty good. The one thing I don't like about this place is that the spiciness is very inconsistent. Some pieces of our spicy chicken were spicy while others weren't. Also, the mild chicken we got was more spicy than some of the spicy chicken. Some of the sauces were also way too sweet like the yangnyeom sauce. But overall, it's a solid chicken restaurant and definitely worth giving a try. read more

Honestly was super excited to try this chicken joint out after hearing good things from friends and others. However kinda sad knowing their chicken was so so & their tteokbokki just not appetizing. I got the Von's special sauce chicken (half order spicy) and tteokbokki. The chicken itself was a good flavor but I had trouble eating parts of it which I suspect was due to not being baked long enough (it's oven baked). The tteokbokki just was not delicious at all and too hard to eat. Felt like it was an old batch that they tried to reheat. I'll hand it to them for being clean, providing hand sanitizer, contactless payments. But there was nothing spectacular about Vons. The most redeeming feature is "unique" flavors which Bon Chon doesn't really have. Come here at your own discretion. The high amount of mixed reviews speak for itself. read more
