Oh my goodness. If you are in Juneau - GO TO Vs!! I feel so lucky to have gotten to eat lunch their twice during my recent trip to Juneau. I also got to spend some time chatting with V about how in the world she ended up with Mexican Korean fusion! It's a great story - go have a meal there and ask her about it. At any rate, the flavors are unbelievable. I had the ginger tofu tacos. The shells were the perfect mix of crunchy/chewy/soft. The tofu was perfectly seasoned and exactly the right consistency. The crunch, the flavors, the textures. Seriously - it was fantastic. Have a side of kimchi rice and you will be in so so happy. And, they have amazing drinks called "shrubs" Ask them about them. Their service is top notch, fantastic attention to customers and the food is top notch. Go there. read more

My son-in-law found this on Yelp and I'm so glad we went! We were a party of 7, including a ten year old boy, and all of us loved the food. If you want straight Mexican, you can get it, but the Korean infused Mexican is to die for. I had a infused burrito with ginger tofu. It was amazing. Our beefy nephew had six tacos and thought he'd have leftovers - ha-ha! He ate five and someone else ate the last one. Good draft beer selection, and the shrubs are refreshing, not sweet non-alcoholic drinks. Everyone in our party loved this place, including the two fussy New Yorkers. Great service, too. I came here for my 21st birthday having only heard great things, I also brought my parents here for their first time. It took over half an hour to get service and just get appetizers ordered and it was 2 hours total before we got our main meals. The meals were taking a long time so I politely asked our waitress how long it might be. She laughed and said "do you have somewhere better to be?" I was beyond shocked at her response and I should have got up and left but I continued to wait for my meal not wanting to let her ruin my special day. I won't be returning to V's because of this. V's cellar is such an unexpected, wonderful surprise! I always recommend that my guests get something with Bulgogi beef- it just had the best flavor. We had the special (Chili Rellenos) and some other house staples and it was all good. Portions are not too big, they're just right for ordering everything on the menu that you want to try- and share with the table. The server was nice and attentive. Just another place in Juneau that starts out great, then starts cutting corners, then starts misleading the guests by saying food is live or fresh when it was frozen. V's loud and drunk friends aren't doing her any favors by rudely disrupting her guests. Started out liking it, then had a few bad dining experiences and the quality of the food is going down quickly. Absolutely marvelous. After a slew of disappointing food experiences here in Juneau, V's Cellar Door is a breath of fresh air. The staff were wonderfully pleasant, helpful and accommodating. Yummo!!! What a treasure we found when we got off of the cruise ship! Super close to the dock but tucked in the "cellar" this place is modern and cozy. Extremely disappointed. We had heard nothing but good things about this place. After placing our order, we waited 40 minutes for the food to arrive, and when it did, my Korean BBQ tacos were room temperature. I could partially understand if they had been very busy but the place had only a few customers. The Spanish rice I ordered as a side was flavorless and cold so I didn't even finish it. My wife ordered a burrito and it lacked flavor as well. She left half the burrito in the plate. My son said he enjoyed his dish and I did like the kimchi rice he had. Stopped at the food truck right by the cruise ship and it was delicious. The prices are reasonable and the customer service was amazing! Never had Asian/Mexican fusion before, so was not sure what to expect. This establishment had good reviews on a gluten free site, so gave it a try. They have a "two bite guarantee" meaning you can exchange for another dish if the original dish did not meet expectations. Spouse had no issues with gluten, and no one took them up on the two bite exchange. Next time we are visiting Juneau, we plan on going back, even if I doubt we will be able to take advantage of the two bite guarantee. Oh, gotta try the cocktails!!! read more

The nachos are very tasty and huge! We got the half order and honestly that could have just split that for dinner. Hubs had fusion burrito which had great flavor but tortilla was a bit rubbery. I had tacos which had great flavor but a bit on the dry side. The yummy salsa from the nachos solved that problem though. They try this Mexican/Korean fusion thing and don't do either well. They also try to do "cocktails" but they only seem to have wine (and beer) so those fall short as well. It's like the worst of all things hipster - "fusion" food, shrub "cocktails," all wrapped up with slow, snobby service. Even the dessert (blueberry creme brûlée) wasn't that good. read more

Ordered the chicken rice bowl. The flavors do go together quite well, and the over easy egg on top is a nice touch. Unfortunately the main event- the Korean bbq chicken - was nowhere to be found. The pieces of chicken were tiny and the overall portion size was probably less than 2 ounces. I didn't even get a large enough bite to tell you how it tasted. The food wait time is long -- at least 30 minutes from ordering. As it was our first visit, I can't say if that's typical. What we ordered was not presented as the menu indicated. The Azteca burrito was said to be "smothered in verde sauce then topped with jack and cheddar cheeses". There was no such sauce anywhere on top of the burrito and it had the bare minimum of cheese on top. I requested a side of verde sauce. The burrito was heavy on the rice and light on the pork, but was extremely flavorful, as was the verde sauce. We ordered Kimchi rice on the side, which was outstanding. Our glass of Underwood Pinot Noir and a vermouth specialty drink were excellent. If you want water, you need to request that. The service was friendly, but there is only one server for restaurant. If I were to base my rating only on the food flavor, I'd absolutely rate it a 5. As it is, I'd recommend ordering to go 45 minutes to an hour before pickup, and perhaps making sure all is as expected before leaving. read more

We started with the fusion nachos with bulgogi. I am not a nacho lover, normally, but these were amazing. My husband and I quickly nearly finished the whole plate. I went with Korean bbq tacos which were just spicy enough. My husband had the cochinitas and he was just as pleased. He added the spicey onions to make it just spicey enough per the recommendation of the owner, V, herself. It was a casual atmosphere. We sat at the bar and our server was friendly and informative. What an awesome place. Several people recommended Vs to us on our visit but I was hesitant because my husbands palate is not as adventurous as mine. Glad he was willing to take the chance! There is an awareness by this fusion restaurant staff that you may be nervous about trying fusion food, but they were so helpful in reassuring us that if we tried something and didn't like it after 2 bites that they would take it back and make us something new. That wasn't a problem! We loved the creative and delicious food and the SUPER and amazing staff. Despite being super busy the evening we went, the service was outstanding!
