Extremely disappointed with this location. I came in near closing time and ordered three WaBa bowls for my family. Instead of fresh food, we were served dry scraps of leftover chicken and beef. It looked like whatever was scraped from the bottom of the bins and was completely inedible.If the staff didn't want to grill fresh meat close to closing time, they should have just been honest and turned me away. Maybe I should have checked reviews on Yelp before ordering from here via UberEats. Rookie mistake. I ordered from Waba because I recall liking them when I had them on the East Coast some years ago. Back then they had a big bottle of Waba sauce on every table and you could sauce up your food to your heart's desire. So today, I ordered the $31.99 chicken and rib eye family meal, and an order of $12.90 20-piece dumplings. I made sure to request for Waba sauce and was expecting a giant tub of sauce to arrive with my food. THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME ANY WABA SAUCE!!!! At all. None. Let me be clear that the point of eating here is the sauce. Instead, all they gave me was soy sauce packets and hot sauce packets, both of which I wasn't going to use, since I wanted... well, teriyaki. Duh. As a result, I'm eating completely unseasoned and super dry chicken, with completely unseasoned brown rice, accompanied by completely unseasoned broccoli, cabbage and dry carrots. The beef honestly tastes like flavored asian beef jerky. It's SO DRY and frankly inedible. It's the kind of dry that makes the food squeak against your teeth as you're trying to chew. Our family is trying so hard to eat this food but we all stopped after a few bites... It's just so dry! Everyone went searching for a drink and then asked, "can I not eat this anymore?" The hard part was the price: for $32 I'm not certain it was a deal in any way whatsoever. It certainly felt like 1-2 bowls worth of food. Maybe with an extra side of rice. The plus side: the dumpling skin was soft. Dumplings were a bit greasy but ended up being the only edible thing of this meal. I hate feeling like I just wasted money on food nobody wants to eat, but I do feel that's what happened tonight. I guess Waba isn't what it used to be. I was wondering why this particular had a bad rating, but I think it's apparent this WaBa is now under new management. My experience here was great: greeted upon arrival, entirely CDC compliant, very clean and the cashier was very helpful. I got 2 combo plates and a bowl and wanted to try every single protein they offered. The cashier broke down which would be the best price combos and what to get as a side for the most value, which he didn't have to do. Food came out relatively quick especially with the amount I ordered. Plenty of sauce and utensils were provided without even asking. I always come here but I always get a different cooker. I came last night and we ordered a waba plate and a chicken bowl. The cooker he's (young) btw, and he always cuts the damm chicken so big and leaves the extra skin on and doesn't cut it right. My complain is, every time we go in, it ain't pack at all like yesterday. So then what's the rush? Why can't he cut it good and not cut them sooo big and leave the bones with extra skin. It pains me to have to give this place 1 star because I used to love Waba, but this location just pisses me off to no end. In concept, they should have great, and fairly healthy food, and though they're definitely a bit overpriced, there was some value there. But pretty much the last 8 times I've gone there, it gets worse and worse from the extremely dry, stringy chicken, to the absolute rip off portioning they do. I found the secret to actually get your money's worth was to go at night right before they're closed, around 9:30, because the night crew actually made the bowls well and filled them up properly. But now no matter when I go now, they barely put anything in the bowl. You're essentially paying almost $7 for nothing but a 1/3 of a bowl of completely dry rice, and a few pieces of chicken that had been cooked god-only-knows when and just thrown on the grill for a few seconds to reheat (which also makes the edges an inedible burned mess). And god forbid you order the steak or anything but a chicken and rice bowl, then you're paying $10+ per meal for the skimpiest portions you can imagine. I agree with everyone else about the pure shit smell that comes from the back often (probably from them never changing the mop water), them not using proper hygiene, and just being straight up stingy assholes and purposely hide the smaller drink cups. And the stupid skinny kid with the glasses that works in the back, EVERY... SINGLE... DAY leaves his stupid piece of crap Mustang double parked like he owns the place, so that when it's rush time, and no one can find parking in the back, there SHOULD be open spaces available, but this douche thinks he's special and takes up 2-3 spaces every single time. Next time I'm just going to call Parking Authority. Maybe he'll learn to park like a decent human being after a few tickets. The fact is, you can't sit there and open a "healthy food" chain in the ghetto, charging outrageous prices run by douchebag employees, and then jip people and expect to survive. This is an area where people are used to paying $5 to get a burrito the size of a new born baby filled with pretty decent quality meat. No one is going to pay an average of $10 a plate for some badly cooked rice and a few scrap pieces old, dry, grill-reheated meat. Also their Coorporate people CLEARLY don't give a crap about their customers as I've tried contacting them before about this, and where every other place would be like "I'm sorry about that, please let me replace your meal and please give us another chance for your business", these guys, IF they even respond at all, just go, "oops, sorry." Before you read this, i just want to make it clear that I'm a huge fan of Waba Grill, but this location is terrible. I ordered half and half with brown rice, yet I literally got 90% rice, the top was covered with chicken and beef just enough to make the rice not visible. I also asked for an extra empty bowl to store my condiments yet the worker looks at me like if I'm bothering her. Next time I want just rice, I'll make sure to come to this location. Decided that we wanted to try something different, we came here to try Waba Grill with my brother for the first time ever since they opened up a branch near home. When we first walked in, the restaurant looks clean and inviting. We ordered our food, clearly saying 2 Half and Half bowls. When we got our food, we noticed that they made 2 chicken veggie bowls. My brother went up to get our food and told the cashier that he might have mixed up our order. We clearly said 2 HALF and HALF bowls. Instead of kindly telling us that he may have misheard us, he said " No, you ordered 2 chicken bowls ". I'm sorry, but we KNOW what we've ordered. Not only that, but he gave us a dirty look when we left. The chicken was pretty good, however the brown rice that my brother ordered, was cold, dry as hell and was obviously undercooked. The veggies were cold, soggy and were not appetizing at all. I wish I could give this place zero stars but, I'll give it a one star just for the decor and cleanliness. I suggest you look else where if you don't want your order to be mixed up. The restaurant was quiet and empty so there was NO way the cashier could've misheard us. What we ordered was not a complicated order whatsoever. They need to fire this guy and hire someone else that can properly take someone's order. I practically paid 20 bucks for nothing. I have eaten here a few times and I really liked it but today I got a bad smelling salmon. At first I couldn't identify what the bad odor was coming from. The veggies and rice didn't smell bad. Ive only been a Waba Grill fan as of recently. The sauce is what makes me come back. I would have like to have been pointed to the condiments and the fact that the veggie toppings are for you to get and for them to get it. Parking is ample behind this place.
