I really don't know of any place on the west side that makes eggrolls like that, or even better Szechuan pork dumplings. And if people are comparing this to Din Tai Fung, they are being ridiculous. I just wrote about how I haven't been able to find my pizza place out here, but I found my Chinese food at Wacky Wok (for whatever reason, there isn't a decent Chinese food restaurant in LA). Wacky Wok is soooo yummy. It's probably even less healthy than most Chinese food places, but when you're eating Chinese, you're certainly not counting your calories. The sauce for the chix and broc is nice and thick...the sesame chix is phenomenal...the soups are huge (I wish they served a small size). It totaled $20 which is a little pricey but it was enough food for two people and we had left overs! Everything was delicious. I actually enjoy this place, even though the reviews say differently. I have only ordered take out but every time I get something, the order is correct and ready in a short amount of time. I have ordered the following: 1) Combination fries rice: 4/5, very tasty and good portion of fried rice. As a chinese place, fried rice is essential to be good. 2) Orange chicken: 4/5, this is supposed to be their most popular item and I liked it. Who doesn't like orange chicken! 3) Beef with broccoli: 2.5/ 5, this seemed very slimy to me and I couldn't finish my dish but it might have been an off night. Fabulous US East Coast style Szechuan food. It reminds us of Chinese food in New York and Philadelphia. We love this place.

With a name like Wacky Wok, you probably wouldn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's cheap, fast and they do the basics well. The beef and chicken dishes are good and there's a great lunch menu selection. For takeout purposes, it's my favorite Chinese place. However, their in-restaurant service could use some polish. After sitting at the counter for about 3-4 minutes I had to ask to be waited on. After that though, the service was fast, but not courteous. Overall, a solid place for takeout and a quick dinner should you choose to dine in. read more

Deffently a nice little hole in the wall. The place is keeped clean, the food porportion are deffently 7oz of meet with a good size of rice ( fried rice or steamed) and a nice garden salad. Wacky Wok is a wacky place. I have a love-hate relationship with them because everytime I order delivery and ask for a current menu, they tell me they'll send it, but I get NOTHING! Which is why I never know what I'm paying for when I order the same things. Prices seem to change all the time depending on who's taking my order. It's usually around $2 more or less, give or take. So my tip will always be measured by the cost of food. I should probably not tip them at all because one time when I paid with a credit card, they added an extra $2.50 to my tip without my knowledge until I saw my bank statement. So I resort to only placing a delivery order when I have cash on hand, which is rare. Damn them! But I truly LOVE their potstickers! As well as their Orange Chicken, brown rice and Shrimp Chow Mein. And I love how they put their food in the original Chinese take-out containers you only see in movies and give you chopsticks because most places, especially in the Westside, don't. :( Wacky Wok, cash on hand, and a Netflix movie on a Friday night is my idea of a great evening. Ordered the Mongolian Beef to go tonight (8/19/18), and I just couldn't eat it. I actually spit out a piece of the slimy, ultra-chewy and disgusting beef only to continue eating the rice and a few veggies. I guess I had forgotten about my last Yelp review for the same dish. We were pleasantly suprised with the Wok of Wacky. I must have scoured hundreds of Yelp reviews before deciding to order from Wacky Wok. There's just not many options for Chinese delivery on the westside. I'm not spoiled, nor picky. I just want standard, reliable Chinese food. We ordered: -Buddha's Feast (B) -Kung Pao Chicken (A-) -Chicken Fried Rice (C) -Veggie Fried Rice (A) -BBQ Spare Ribs (B-) Overall: B The food was piping hot when it got to our place - a big Plus for the spot. Combined with their albeit-suspiciously-low prices, this made a solid combo. I just wish that chicken fried rice was tasty - it was really dry and not nearly as good as the veggie fried rice. For some reason it seems to be more difficult to find passable Chinese food on the west side. I have yet to find a place I'd rate 100% or even 90%. Wacky Wok seems decent, although I only had the Mushu pork and Lo mein. It's not cheap. $11.95 sounds reasonable but it only came with two pancakes, and 2 small plastic hosein packets. Extra pancakes are $0.75 each When I asked for extra hosein, they only added 2 packets. The woman at the counter was friendly. I love Mushu pork and theirs was pretty decent, finely chopped which I didn't mind but don't particularly prefer. I added the fourth star because even though it's not exemplary, it's better than the alternatives I have. Frankly, I wish Panda Express offered Mushu (I'm not that fussy) but they don't. So for now, living in Culver City, this is going to be my go-to place for Mushu and (comparatively) inexpensive Chinese. I'll try to update this as I try more items. By the way, the address says Abbott Kinney, but the actual place is in a mini-mall on the N side of Washington, one block W of Abbott Kinney. read more

Really, really awful!!! The rice had clearly been sitting for awhile - if you've ever tried to re-heat rice then you know how this stuff tasted! The pot stickers were something between fried and steamed, so they just tasted soggy!! The won ton soup was bland. The only thing that was good was the cream cheese won tons, but they didn't give us any sauce. The only positive is that they beat the estimated delivery time by 30 min. I live in Marina Del Rey so I'm extremely close to this Wacky Wok location (walking distance). They have another location on Sepulveda that is really good. I ordered Spring Rolls, the General Tso's Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice and Orange Chicken. When I received my order via delivery it wasn't even edible. The Orange Chicken and General Tso's Chicken was well over cooked and not chewable (Beef Jerky Texture). The shrimp fried rice didn't have any green onion only egg, rice and shrimp (bland). The shrimp were pathetically tiny. My five year old son looked at the rice and said, "mommy look at these cute little baby shrimp". Finally, there were only two spring rolls. I called and requested a refund and the woman on the phone apologized since it was my first order. She said, that she would credit me for the orange chicken and the general tso's chicken. This credit was to be used at a later date towards their restaurant. Last night I decided to use my credit at the Sepulveda location. I ordered the same thing that I did last time. The chicken was properly cooked not too chewy like last time. Except this time I received three spring rolls instead of the two and my shrimp fried rice had green onion in it and nice sized shrimp. Unfortunately, when it came time for me to pay they gave me a 10% discount. I explained to them that their other location compensated the two chicken orders - which is why I ordered them again. They only compensated me for one chicken order the Orange Chicken. I called the Venice location and explained the situation to the Sepulveda location, but they said they did't see it in their system and didn't even try to fully rectify the situation. It's no wonder why they're called, "Wacky Wok". I won't be dining here ever again. From now on I'll stick to Chinatown - Sam Woo! read more

I have never felt so compelled to leave a review in order to assure others are not left so frustrated with such an abysmal "meal". My partner has long loved Wacky Wok, and after recently trying his garlic chicken, I decided I might have been unfair to the Wok. Mistake. We placed an order including my personal favorite, Szechuan chicken. It's my "go to" standard, and have eaten it at many Chinese restaurants. Not hard to get this wrong... I thought. Then the food arrived. The spring rolls were disappointing given they were basically vehicles for grease, the won ton and presumably vegetables. Whatever, Chinese food is meant to be an indulgence. Plenty of hot mustard and soy sauce, and they were alright. The true atrocity came in the form of the Szechuan chicken. I kid you not, it was a carton of 50% chopped onion, 25% chicken and 25% barbecue sauce. Thoroughly disgusting. Shut it down! read more

The first time I got it I didn't love it at all. I got orange chicken and it was just okay. But the second time I got chicken lettuce wraps and they were great. Maybe because the first time I ordered carry out but I normally prefer that. My roommates love it so I will continue to go but it's not my favorite Chinese food ever. read more

A gem in the rough, this place features the chillest owner that refills your water, has MADE TO ORDER chinese food that gets the flavors right and the meats cooked to near perfection. The food is excellent, the service solid, the ambiance good enough. Now, it is not cheap. The key is to come during the lunch hour, their lunch time specials are comparably price to less luminous establishments but damn the food is great And therein they lose a star, but in this neighborhood I can't blame them. Their dinner is about 75% more than your hole in the wall Chinese fast food place. I think to get 5 stars they'll have to find some way to cheapen their menu by about 2 to 3 dollars per item without cutting the quality of their food or their solid service - which for all I know means a smaller profit margin or not making the rent.
