their food is great, however the one-star is because of both a customer not wearing a mask and even stepping behind the counter at one point but also one of the employees there, looked like a completely bald shaved clean gentleman was wearing his mask on his chin instead of over his mouth and nose. After a fun filled day at the beach my friends and I like to stop off at Wacky Wok. This place is nice. Normally you wouldnt notice it because its in a strip mall in the corner. Even for take-out Chinese food, it wasn't very good. Like.. it wasn't inedible, just I'd never order it again. I got the Beef Chow Fon and I couldn't believe there were no veggies in it. I ordered dinner from eat24.com and used a $3 off coupon. I got orange chicken and kung pao chicken. It totaled $20 which is a little pricey but it was enough food for two people and we had left overs! Everything was delicious. I actually enjoy this place, even though the reviews say differently. I have only ordered take out but every time I get something, the order is correct and ready in a short amount of time. I have ordered the following: 1) Combination fries rice: 4/5, very tasty and good portion of fried rice. As a chinese place, fried rice is essential to be good. 2) Orange chicken: 4/5, this is supposed to be their most popular item and I liked it. Who doesn't like orange chicken! 3) Beef with broccoli: 2.5/ 5, this seemed very slimy to me and I couldn't finish my dish but it might have been an off night. With a name like Wacky Wok, you probably wouldn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's cheap, fast and they do the basics well. The beef and chicken dishes are good and there's a great lunch menu selection. For takeout purposes, it's my favorite Chinese place. However, their in-restaurant service could use some polish. After sitting at the counter for about 3-4 minutes I had to ask to be waited on. After that though, the service was fast, but not courteous. Overall, a solid place for takeout and a quick dinner should you choose to dine in. read more

I just wrote about how I haven't been able to find my pizza place out here, but I found my Chinese food at Wacky Wok (for whatever reason, there isn't a decent Chinese food restaurant in LA). Wacky Wok is soooo yummy. It's probably even less healthy than most Chinese food places, but when you're eating Chinese, you're certainly not counting your calories. The sauce for the chix and broc is nice and thick...the sesame chix is phenomenal...the soups are huge (I wish they served a small size). It is a bit pricey for Chinese food, but it's worth it for me. I highly recommend it on those Sundays when you're so hung over and only a greasy bit of Chinese will make you feel better! read more

Wacky Wok is a wacky place. I have a love-hate relationship with them because everytime I order delivery and ask for a current menu, they tell me they'll send it, but I get NOTHING! Which is why I never know what I'm paying for when I order the same things. Prices seem to change all the time depending on who's taking my order. It's usually around $2 more or less, give or take. So my tip will always be measured by the cost of food. I should probably not tip them at all because one time when I paid with a credit card, they added an extra $2.50 to my tip without my knowledge until I saw my bank statement. So I resort to only placing a delivery order when I have cash on hand, which is rare. Damn them! But I truly LOVE their potstickers! As well as their Orange Chicken, brown rice and Shrimp Chow Mein. And I love how they put their food in the original Chinese take-out containers you only see in movies and give you chopsticks because most places, especially in the Westside, don't. :( Wacky Wok, cash on hand, and a Netflix movie on a Friday night is my idea of a great evening. This place is banging OG style Chinese food That arrives at your door in 20 minutes. If you don't like that, then nothing will satisfy you and your complaining attitudes. Every dish is made to order buy an actual crew of Chinese heritage. Are used to joke with the delivery driver asking him if he had a wok in his car. I really don't know of any place on the west side that makes eggrolls like that, or even better Szechuan pork dumplings. And if people are comparing this to Din Tai Fung, they are being ridiculous. The barbecue pork lo mein has a solid New York quality about it. Any fried rice is completely to die for. And a few restaurants do kung pao chicken better, With less deadly ingredients. This is just solid old-school Chinese food at a decent price, delivered to your door fast as hell. If you want to compare to Yang Chow. Don't, just go to Yang shower and get what you want. These people know what they are doing, busting their ass to make you really good food at a decent price and get it to you quick. If you're offended by winter melon not being on the menu. There's just not many options for Chinese delivery on the westside. I'm not spoiled, nor picky. I just want standard, reliable Chinese food. Deffently a nice little hole in the wall. The place is keeped clean, the food porportion are deffently 7oz of meet with a good size of rice ( fried rice or steamed) and a nice garden salad. Really, really awful!!! The rice had clearly been sitting for awhile - if you've ever tried to re-heat rice then you know how this stuff tasted! The pot stickers were something between fried and steamed, so they just tasted soggy!! The won ton soup was bland. The only thing that was good was the cream cheese won tons, but they didn't give us any sauce. The only positive is that they beat the estimated delivery time by 30 min. I live in Marina Del Rey so I'm extremely close to this Wacky Wok location (walking distance). They have another location on Sepulveda that is really good. I ordered Spring Rolls, the General Tso's Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice and Orange Chicken. When I received my order via delivery it wasn't even edible. The Orange Chicken and General Tso's Chicken was well over cooked and not chewable (Beef Jerky Texture). The shrimp fried rice didn't have any green onion only egg, rice and shrimp (bland). The shrimp were pathetically tiny. My five year old son looked at the rice and said, "mommy look at these cute little baby shrimp". Finally, there were only two spring rolls. I called and requested a refund and the woman on the phone apologized since it was my first order. She said, that she would credit me for the orange chicken and the general tso's chicken. This credit was to be used at a later date towards their restaurant. Last night I decided to use my credit at the Sepulveda location. I ordered the same thing that I did last time. The chicken was properly cooked not too chewy like last time. Except this time I received three spring rolls instead of the two and my shrimp fried rice had green onion in it and nice sized shrimp. Unfortunately, when it came time for me to pay they gave me a 10% discount. I explained to them that their other location compensated the two chicken orders - which is why I ordered them again. They only compensated me for one chicken order the Orange Chicken. I called the Venice location and explained the situation to the Sepulveda location, but they said they did't see it in their system and didn't even try to fully rectify the situation. It's no wonder why they're called, "Wacky Wok". I won't be dining here ever again. From now on I'll stick to Chinatown - Sam Woo! read more

This happened on sun night around 7:30 pm. We ordered through the eat24 app and noticed after 50 mins that the order had somehow gone through a pick up. We called the restaurant first and they had no record of our order so then we called eat24. The rep at eat24 tried to liaise with whacky wok to deliver our food which they said that they would. Only problem being at this point the food had been sitting around for 30+ mins. When asked to cook a new order they refused and we ended up getting a refund from eat24 and had to sort out food from somewhere else. Ordered the Mongolian Beef to go tonight (8/19/18), and I just couldn't eat it. I actually spit out a piece of the slimy, ultra-chewy and disgusting beef only to continue eating the rice and a few veggies. I guess I had forgotten about my last Yelp review for the same dish. At least the people who work there were nice enough to refund my money when I returned the mostly uneaten "food". Years ago, I really used to like the food at Wacky Wok. Had the Kung Pao chicken and Chicken Chow Mein. Loved the Kung Pao, it had the perfect amount of spice and wasn't overloaded with bell pepper. The potstickers are huge! The chow mein was average, though you get the choice of soft or crispy noodle. Sweet Thai tea was good too. read more

I have never felt so compelled to leave a review in order to assure others are not left so frustrated with such an abysmal "meal". My partner has long loved Wacky Wok, and after recently trying his garlic chicken, I decided I might have been unfair to the Wok. Mistake. We placed an order including my personal favorite, Szechuan chicken. It's my "go to" standard, and have eaten it at many Chinese restaurants. Not hard to get this wrong... I thought. Then the food arrived. The spring rolls were disappointing given they were basically vehicles for grease, the won ton and presumably vegetables. Whatever, Chinese food is meant to be an indulgence. Plenty of hot mustard and soy sauce, and they were alright. The true atrocity came in the form of the Szechuan chicken. I kid you not, it was a carton of 50% chopped onion, 25% chicken and 25% barbecue sauce. Thoroughly disgusting. Shut it down! read more
