It's official. This place totally sucks. I've been ordering take out for 13 years. And it was my go to Chinese food fix. Now the food is horrible and the price is too high. I paid $60 dollars for food that I just dumped in the trash. The Egg flower soup had no flavor. Just looked like water and cornstarch put together. The black bean bok choy did not taste like black bean sauce. The bok choi was soggy, and looked like they just threw in a dirty empty pan cooked for someone elses order to get flavor on the vegetable. The beef and broccoli looked like it was left over from the fridge and just heated up. And the sui mai tasted old like it was sitting out all day. This use to be the place to be. Maybe it's because the rent is too high and there probably hanging on a thread to stay in business so now the quality sucks. Who knows? Your better off going to the store and buying Chinese food in the freezer section. It's sad. No more good Chinese food on the Westside. Thanks a lot gentrification has finally pushed its way through the neighborhood. :( read more

On a positive note, the food arrived quickly (though we were about a mile away from the restaurant) and the pork fried rice was good. There were large chunks of meat and eggs, more substance, less from-a-box kind of taste. The spring rolls were okay..filling was good but they were too greasy for my taste. For my meal, I ordered the chicken and broccoli, hoping for a healthy steamed entree with a light sauce. What I GOT, was a pint full of the jar style garlic with a few chunks of chicken and some broccoli. There is NO earthly reason to put that much garlic in anything. I threw it away, took the garbage out, and still had to spay air freshener around the house. With a little "extra" garlic, I would have given them another chance (try again, order without garlic) but with the amount that was in there it seemed like they were trying to make the food inedible on purpose. We spent almost $40 on the food, delivery, and tip. That should buy you something pretty darn good. Never again. read more

I felt like trying a new restaurant, and since I drive by this place every day, I figured it was a good option. I was greeted promptly and the server was friendly. I ordered the Wacky Chicken Salad (basically a Chinese Chicken Salad) and the Orange Chicken lunch special. The salad came out first and my first impression was wow. It was a good size with lots of wonton noodles. I enjoyed the salad, mainly because the dressing was good. It was sweet, but not too sweet, and it wasn't too thick or heavy. The orange chicken came out next and it was ok. It didn't really taste like orange chicken though... it was close, but I think it was missing the sweetness of the orange. The fried rice was ok too, but nothing to write home about. Would I go back? Maybe. With a drink and tip, lunch was $20 (I did order two entrees, though). I really wanted to give this place three and a half stars because it was a little better than just average, but it doesn't deserve to be included in my four star club. read more

I've fallen out of love with Wacky Wok. Chicken and brocolli is my favorite dish, and the chicken tends to be white-ish in a watery sauce. Not sure what sauce they are using, but it's not particularly tasty. The rice isn't too bad. read more

I was very pleasantly surprised by the food here. I was expecting the typical Chinese fast food experience, i.e. little authenticity, greasy, not very fresh. The food here is clearly made to order (allow at least 20 minutes to get your meal) and was fresh, authentic and quite tasty! My server was also very pleasant. While it's not the very best Chinese food in town, it's very good and reasonably priced. I definitely plan to return. read more

Came from out of town and decided to order in dinner. Prices are very reasonable and food was pretty good. The egg drop soup is delicious but keep in mind the portions are large. Not knowing, we ordered 2 full sizes and were surprised at how large they are! Delivery took longer than expected (1 hour) for only being 5 min away from our location. Worst Chinese food I have ever had - WORST! Had the lunch special. Soup was so salty it could cause a stroke. The fried rice has some spice that made it taste funny. Not traditional at all. Been driving past this place for years, assuming it was a bit tacky, but gave it a try tonight based on yelp reviews. Had won ton soup, chicken green bean peanut sauce, shrimp vegetables. What great surprise! Everything was wonderful. Everything was light, fresh and flavorful. Chicken was fresh and juicy. Beans (and all the veggies) were like "right out of the garden. I've been a fan of this restaurant for years. Starting with take-out and delivery, I am now a regular of the restaurant itself. It has recently been upgraded and refurbish and is now very stylish and comfortable with its open kitchen and choice of counter, table and patio seating. What has stayed the same over the years is the wonderful quality and taste and freshness of the food. The lunch specials are particularly appealing as they are cooked to order and presented colorfully on oriental style plates. The menu is varied with both traditional Chinese items and exotic specialty fare. And maybe the best news is the price which is very reasonable. Wacky wok is some of the best chinese food in LA! I am an expert on Chinese food and know my restaurants. It is very hard to find any great chinese food in la ,but Wacky Wok is an exception. I ordered take out from Wacky Wok on Abbot Kinney and Washington Blvd. Neither the wor won ton soup nor the scallops and black mushroom dish tasted good. No shrimp in the wor won ton and the chicken was tough. The scallops smelled fishy and that dish did not have a good flavor either. Also, we had a mix up about the delivery whereas I was to buzz in the driver to my complex which I tried to do. He called the restaurant and said there "was no answer". I do not fault him for the confusion but I do fault the woman from the restaurant who called and said that "there was no anwer when he called you. He has a lot of other deliveries to make. Please call right away." I didn't appreciate the rudeness when it was clearly due to a miscommunication. read more

Great taste, hot food, almost great/good service every time I stop in and sit down to eat, up until last Saturday evening, November 1st,,,"Jae" are you listening/reading? There was a server gal that gave poor service to myself and some other customers I observed, although she was nice and pleasant, she seemed possibly overwhelmed and didn't know how and what to do in a relatively timely manner,,our main course sat by itself on our table without any rice served and became cold, to which I had retrieve some rice myself,,,I observed a neighboring table of customers that were experiencing as well some seriously delayed service for water, drinks, and food. Jae, I was just about to, as of last Saturday, rate 5 stars, but after last Saturday evening, I have to knock it down to 4. I'm still going to get your food, but I sure hope you fix that 'one time' server gal situation. I try at all costs to avoid using the restrooms in any hole in the wall establishment, but this one wasn't that bad, although I would like get Jae to have someone stop in once every two hours and tidy up and restock. read more

How is this place? I wouldn't know! Like Don C, I cannot review the food because we never received it! I went through a third party ordering service Eat24 and after 90 minutes of waiting for an order that was told would take 45-60mins, I received a phone call from Eat24 that the restaurant is short on delivery drivers and will not be able to deliver. He suggested i drive to pick it up but having been 2 glasses of wine in, I figured that was not the best idea..... so I'm not sure it it's Eat24's fault or not but I will not be using their company nor will i order from Wacky Wok Ever Again. I am from the East Coast and have been privileged to experience very capable, efficient take out restaurants. It's not that hard. Don't offer the service if you cannot accommodate the clientele! WTF. The internet is a powerful tool.. i will follow up with a review on "NEw Flavors" chinese cuisine from whom we subsequently ordered. (PS, 10 dollars cheaper and 30 minutes quicker!) read more

Wacky Wok is Wacked! Having ordered for 20+ years, I have noticed a serious change for the worst in the quality, taste, and visual look of the food. I love Chinese food and even though the past two visits were disappointing (but remembering the past) I wanted to give it another chance. But once again, but for the last time, my order was not prepared correctly. When I called, I was advised to bring it back. I asked if they could start another order, but was told they needed me to return the order first. When I arrived, I decided to get a refund (didn't want to wait...not my mistake) but was advised since the container was not full, that I could only get 1/2 a refund. I asked her, did she really expect me to put the food on my plate back into the container? She informed me that it was store policy. Talk about "bad customer service and policy". After a few rounds, she reluctantly gave me the price of the food item, less my tax, since she did not know how to refund it on the register. Not to be funny...I suggest she get training, as she was keeping money that did not belong to her. read more
