Stopped by Waffle House this Sunday morning, and despite it being very busy, the service was good! Their locations are small but we got there just in time because a table opened up. Our food came out quickly, and everything was hot and delicious. I enjoyed breakfast with my sisters, brother-in-law, and nephew, making for a great start to the day. We ordered the All-Star Special, the sausage, egg & cheese hash brown bowl, and the Texas egg & cheese melt plate. Everything was cooked just right! The magic has been lost. The one thing that made Waffle House stand out from every other restaurant was that it was always warm and inviting to all the weirdoes, even in the middle of the night and during hurricanes. Now, though? They make you stand out in the dark parking lot and wait with those weirdoes as a security guard eyes you from the door. The whole experience is low-key threatening, and the exact opposite of what I want when I visit a Waffle House. The food is, presumably, the exact same, but it definitely feels like it's missing something when delivered dispassionately through a window. I'm sad to see the end of a beautiful era. It does not matter where I am I going to find a Waffle House. The breakfast is so good. They are quick with the service. It's always packed so sometimes there is a bit of a wait to sit down. If you've spent any amount of time in the South, or even the Midwest, you've no doubt seen superfluous numbers of Waffle House restaurants dotting the country. With 1,900+ locations and more than 40,000 employees, WH sightings are common at damn-near every highway intersection, in small towns, and nestled into small commercial lots between gas stations, muffler shops, and convenience stores. Despite annual cross-country road trips and a cult-following, we had never stopped at an "Awful House" as the unenlightened might refer to this gem. That all changed a few days ago... with time to kill in Orlando waiting a day for our flight home, we finally pulled into the small lot of an unassuming WH, literally next door to a pawn shop. As we entered the door, the first thing we noticed as a long line waiting for a table or a seat at the counter. The kind manager informed us we were "fifth in line," and didn't bother to take our name.... Dude just remembered who was next. While waiting, I looked around the small interior: several workers busied themselves behind the counter and out into the small restaurant, hustling plates and mugs of hot coffee to hungry guests. I found myself sitting nest to "the Sisters"-- two nice gals who promised me they wouldn't bite, and had all the plumage of enjoying the retired life-- definitely regulars at this Waffle House. When they got their table, they ordered "their usual" before they even sat down. We were seated quickly and ordered up our breakfasts from the limited menu. The grill rockstar cook had our food to us quickly, and our server was kind to the kids and efficient with our service. Food was fine and cheap. On our way out, we had a laugh with one server, Tyler the Styler, who when asked about his awesome tie-dye Waffle House hat, informed us about a selection of WH gear at the nearby WalMart, and a larger selection on the WH website. If you've never seen it, you're really missing out. ... and if you've avoided WH all these years, lower your champagne expectations a little bit and go enjoy some Real Life on your next vacation. I ordered a pecan waffle w/ bacon and scattered smothered and covered. The bacon was smelled and tasted tainted. The back. Was laid in my potatoes, so can't enjoy that. If they had just reimbursed me for the bad meat,I probably wouldn't have cared. But they said they can only remake the item.....I said I didn't want more tainted bacon, just my money back for the bad bacon. For me, the biggest appeal of Waffle House has always been their hash browns, which you can get basic or topped with a variety of toppings such as chili, white sausage gravy, cheese, ham, onions and so many more items and you can combine these toppings in a multitude of ways. For my main course, I have usually gone with their patty melts or one of their egg breakfast options. I myself can see the strangeness that I have never having a waffle and a business where waffle is in their very name, but I prefer a more savory breakfast than a sweet one. If you are in the southeast United States, odds are you have probably passed a Waffle House location. It seems that they are on almost every major highway exit ramp and strategically placed throughout most cities and towns in the southeast. If you see one, give them a try. read more

We have not been to Waffle House in years for no other reason and just not going. This morning my wife had blood work done early so we decided to stop at Waffle House. We will be returning for breakfast and this Waffle House is less than a mile from our home. I had one of the bowl's and could not eat it all (full). My friend wanted to take me to a restaurant I've never been to before and was surprise when I said I'd never been to Waffle House and requested to eat here. Since my favorite meal is breakfast for dinner we went to dinner time; I ordered waffles and sausages. I loved the inside from the 50's diner counter, to the white plates stacked on top of the cabinet to the $1 jukebox. It's small and cozy. Immediately upon entering the staff greeted us and the manager on duty ( I believe his name is Eric) was very personable. More than just welcoming us to the restaurant he initiated small talk about our day. The service was fast and the food was nice and hot . My food had regular dinner favor; but it wasn't bad. When ever I go south, I have to stop at Waffle House. It's extremely affordable and at times fast. Extra plus is it's 24hours something many establishments don't offer in the south. Our server was super friendly and pleasant, I love when the customer service is above my expectations. He was attentive and friendly, i feel awful i don't recall his name because he deserves praise. I ordered the T-Bone steak and eggs which isn't on the menu. So if you want you it you have to request it, those who prefer there food seasoned well just request it for the steak. The eggs had the cheese scrambled in it which is so much better from when they just lay it on top. I hate that. The food came out quickly, especially with me ordering a steak. Our waiter came to the table every-time our cups were half empty. The food was great, but the reason for the five stars was my server. Never come Sunday mornings, the cooks are horrible. Service is great but the food..... messed up and burnt. This is my 3rd time experiencing this on a Sunday at this location. They did make things right but you know the establishment isn't good when the staff is constantly apologizing to customers. We were sweating bullets in there too. The employees were asking other workers to turn the AC back on or to fix it. Complaining the waffle irons were broken and burning the waffles every time. The ice machine is leaking. This Waffle House is in a great location, cause it's close to where I live. It's right next to a Pollo Tropical and a Pawn Shop... yeah don't judge. This is a newer Waffle House with a well lit parking lot and great people. I believe they were using this particular Waffle House to train people at one time. I went when it had recently opened and they had a lot of employees. This particular review found me on a Saturday morning roughly 10-ish. The place was not packed with people, but there were quite a number of staff. They greet you as you come in and serve you with a smile. I love their hash browns with oodles of ways to smother and cover them. OH, and don't forget the grits!!!! You can't have breakfast without them... even a small bowl with fill you up. They have different choices from eggs, to bacon, ham, sausage, steak, pork chops and of course WAFFLES! Even a plain waffle is delicious. The menu is photo-friendly and the food is delivered quick to your table. For music, they have a digital jukebox. Put in a dollar and choose a few fav songs to enjoy while you munch. My first experience at Waffle House and damn, how come the South gets so many good food options? Being from Cali this is so unfair!!! I'm impressed by the price and the quality of the food here. The staff was great and friendly and the atmosphere of an old school 50s diner impressed me a lot. For a hearty breakfast, everything was on point. I can't find anything bad about it. Sausages were delicious, the sandwich was hearty, and the eggs were perfect. For casual diner food, this was one of the best meals I've had this YEAR, and that's some praise well deserved given I've been all over the world. It always provides a warm nostalgic feeling for me, especially because the menu hasn't changed since I was a kid, and I like it that way. My go-to order: double order of well-done & covered hash browns, a regular pancake, and a black coffee. It is the same meal at every location, every time, and it never disappoints. This Waffle House location was super clean and had a prompt and friendly staff. We went on a busy Sunday morning and they were still on top of everything. As a committed Waffle House customer, I went into this restaurant in hopes of experiencing that amazing customer service that I recently had at Ocala's Waffle House. But unfortunately, this place was awful. They have long wait times, rude employees, and orders are made incorrectly. I even tried to complain to the manager about the poor service at the restaurant but she was even worst. She literally came up to me while I was taking pictures for my review and told me she wouldn't give me my food if I didn't stop. What I love about this place is that they consistently make amazing and inexpensive breakfast 24 hours a day. Their hash browns, which I order "scattered well" so they are really crispy, are phenomenal. Obviously the waffles are excellent and their menu is pretty extensive. The servers are always so friendly and helpful. The restaurant is brightly lit and really clean.
