It's Waffle House. I have been to a zillion of them and this one is as good as any. It is the geographically closest one to my house, so this one tends to be my default location when I need a fix. I will definitely be back. Like all Waffle Houses, it is hit or miss. I have wonderful experiences and terrible. Good service and bad. Tasty food and barely edible. The coffee is consistently bad but I drink it anyway. Friendly servers and angry ones. Never truly bad enough to drive me away, and the food is so good I keep going back. read more

I had Lexi as a server. She was very rude. Acted like she didn't want to be there. She wasnt paying any attention to our order. My husband had to tell her 4 times he wanted bacon and she kept asking what, and trying to give him ham. My son wanted chocolate milk and she said they were out and she could give him white. The milk was expired. And we noticed there was chocolate milk in the little cooler behind the counter. She said she obviously didn't see it and had a bad attitude. I noticed a little bit of an indication that she's using some kind of drug. She was talking really fast and was acting as though on meth, being overly fixated on the smallest things, behaving OCD and then getting distracted by something else and had to get reminded that she had to get things done before leaving her shift, and she couldn't stop moving. I asked her if she needed to talk to somebody, she got an attitude and said she was fine just had to get home and check her house out. She messaged somebody and she was very much acting like she would rather be there than at work. It's not like she's hiding being high at work, but I don't need to have my child exposed to the effects of drug usage at his age and I didn't like the fact it's a family oriented place and they hired somebody who obviously didn't pass a drug test, but I'm sure she didn't have to take one to get the job. I suggest it highly. Overall, the cook was amazing, food was good. Just if you are gonna hire people with a past, you might want to verify they are actually leaving it in the past and not bringing it to work and exposing kids if they are not in the appropriate age group to start to learn. read more

Love the energy here! fair prices and very friendly staff. There is a jukebox with a wide range of songs for a dollar or two. The food is pretty good my personal favorite is the hash brown bowl. Before we could even get comfortably seated we hear one of the servers ask another server, who I guess would've usually taken our table, if she wanted to serve us and she says, "No, not really" White/hispanic hard-faced looking woman with a neck tattoo. More than it felt discriminatory, it was the fact that she didn't have the professionalism to decline to do her job duties out of earshot of the customer, at the very least. The white girl who asked her wasn't any better. Never met these people a day in our lives so I can see no other reason for their negative disposition. Nonetheless we left. This was the first WH one we saw when we crossed Pontchartrain leaving NOLA. We had to hit up the WH at least once while out here in the dirty dirty. Our server was the best and service was fantastic for our group of 7 peeps. I feared mishaps but thankfully everybody's order came out swell. If your going to get a waffle get the pecan waffle. Pretty clean place that must be pretty busy because they have a line of chairs for people who are waiting to be seated. Very nice people, a little eccentric, but it is Waffle House! My husband said it was a real hamburger and a double is huge. It looked delicious and I am getting one of those next time. I like crispy hash browns, mine weren't. LOCATION: 1728 Gause Blvd. To begin with, last night was my second time here. The first time, most of all was okay, a good number of shells in my eggs but I didn't complain. This time we walked in and sat down, it took at least 10 - 15 minutes before anyone came to us (others walking in after us to order Togo were getting serviced before we even got utensils and drinks.) We were the only people at first to dine in while they were preparing the last Togo order. At some point, one of the jittery waitresses came over to simply lay out two napkins and two knives and that's all then she walks out to take a smoke break. Shortly after, we still watched the other waitress take the Togo orders, while she's saying she's so "f*cking tired of this job and tired of working with a junkie" (Guessing hard that she's talking about the jittery waitress but she was sweet). This waitress finally came and immediately took our order so we were like ok. We get the order written down and we wait to see if she's coming back to ask what to drink or anything, nothing. So we tell her what we wanted to drink and that we want them in Togo cups. Did not bring us our drinks in a Togo cup so she fixed it. She brought out some of our foods out but still we had nothing but knives. When she came around I asked her, "could we please get spoons, forks, and syrup" and I guess she got very angry and felt like someone was rushing her to do HER JOB. No rush though just needed the basics that are supposed to be there before any order is even taken. Somehow the exchange of words became feistier when I told her the items I asked for were supposed to already be out, she then proceeds to ask "are you going to be quiet and eat your food or you going to leave" and I ofc am a peasant's child so I spoke back and told her she's not telling a grown woman what to do and where to go if she can't do her own job. And this lovely jewel asked if I wanted to FIGHT then proceeded to try to make a point and say we just wanted free food. Seriously? It's 4AM and we live 2 hours away. Gotta love the Waffle House shenanigans. We waited patiently for our food, I didn't get my raisin toast (bc she never mentioned it) so they made it. We never got our grits and cheese though. We were just over it so we asked for Togo boxes and ofc we didn't say we weren't paying or paying full price, we waited for our check and the cook came and apologized to us privately and told us he discounted our order. That didn't bother us at all, in fact I separately tipped the two other cooks that stepped in the chaos to hold biggie back even when they forgot our grits in the end. HAPPY MARDI GRAS!!!! read more

Living in Southern California doesn't give one an opportunity to enjoy a chain of restaurants such as the Waffle House. Apparently, in the South, these places are laid out like Starbucks in the West: one restaurant about every mile. The Waffle House may be a bit greasy and smells like a sugar mill but it's good. They serve all types of breakfast, not just waffles. The staff is friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is very casual. You've gotta pay the cashier before you leave as opposed to leaving the bill for the server. I love the South and this place epitomizes it. The variety of patrons entertains me since a lot of the Waffle Houses seem to be on major freeways (highways, if you prefer). Make a point to stop in and experience a Waffle House. read more

I love coming here because of the basic great tasting meals, the more important reason I continue to dine here is because of the down to earth crew! Lisa and the girls are sweethearts. Pay attention to when your cup needs refilled and even enjoy conversation with ya. After spending the afternoon on the road we stopped at this Waffle House to grab some lunch. When we arrived the restaurant was packed so we had to wait for a while. Although that was the case, the staff was very polite and we were seated fairly quickly. When it came time to order, our waitress was polite but very slow. The food here was average diner food and the prices were great. Our food overall was just what we needed for our travels and we would stop in again in the future. read more

This place was so disappointing. At around 3AM my boyfriend and I wanted to pick up some food for us and his dad in the hospital. We had to each repeat our orders three times and we needed it to go. We tipped the waitress and cook to hopefully speed up the process and the order was made incorrectly three times and our waitress seemed to be drunk because he forgot two more to go plates and lost our order ticket (which he blamed us for throwing away). We were patient the entire time and even after he got our order wrong multiple times he still kept forgetting everything after. He seemed very lost and very unaware of where things were. Even when he gave us the two to go plates it was all the wrong orders and toppings. It was a nightmare. DO NOT GO HERE. It will only test your patience and waste your money. Normally when we go to a Waffle House by ourselves it's around $20-$25 but somehow our order today(which was actually much more simple) was $50. read more

The Waffle House at 1728 Gause Blvd in Slidell La is a horror show when it comes to preparing food for the customers. Vincent was our cook which worked on the second shift. He put the food on the grill with his bare hands , then he put the bread, and the cheese on a plate with his bare hands now in between cooking the food he touched his cooking utensils several times and a dirty towel, before he washed his hands. A fly was flying around the food it landed on the bread he prepared for my sandwich not paying attention He than put my chicken on the bread closed the sandwich and cut it so gross not only that but the cups we was given with our drinks in them was dirty with stuff around the rim of the glass and the eating utensils was dirty with food particles on them. I was so upset with the poor service that we received at this place of business I would never go there again or refer anyone there for anything to eat or drink I was just horrified at the lack of cleanliness on the cooks part as well as the dishwasher it is so disheartening because I've been here before and had no problem but this time makes me never wanting to return. The only reason it's a STAR up there is because Yelp wouldn't let me go on without rating them but they don't deserve this star or anything else not from me ish. read more

It was filthy with food and garbage on the floor on both sides of the counter. There was plenty of staff but they were lazy - standing about gabbing instead of doing their job, not even bothering to clean up their own messes.
