    Waffle with Nutella
    Umesh T.

Their Belgian Waffles are spot on --- caramalised and crunchy on the outside, moist and slightly soft on the inside. I prefer these Belgian style golden grids over the local soft version. My favourite is the waffle with whipped cream on top. The lightly sweetened silky smooth airy cream serves to enhance the sweet crunchy-and-moist goodness of this Belgian delight. The nutella version is a little overpowering --- now don't get me wrong, I love nutella --- as it totally obliterates the waffle and might make you miss its distinctiveness. In Belgium, where they are almost as ubiquitous as hot-dog stands in NYC, it is usually served with hot chocolate sauce (of the consistency of a chocolate fondue) poured on top which is thick enough to not splosh around as you pound the pavements, while at the same time not thick, unctuous, and overpowering like nutella. The portion size, though not humongous, is generous enough. At $4.50 +/- 50c, it's not cheap, but not prohibitively expensive either. After all is said and done, this sinful treat is definitely worth the money!

The waffles are very good (see my photos); they are not as super-outstanding as people rave about, however, they are worth a short trip. On Wednesdays from about 8 AM - 1 PM, The waffle truck parks at the Civic Center Farmer's market in San Francisco, on Market Street, right at the Bart station entrance.

I LOVE waffles. I LOVE nutella. I LOVE food trucks. I LOVE BELGIAN waffles. I LOVE farmers markets. So it was love all waffle pressed into a grid of happiness and pure sweets for my not so gym friendly snack. It's so simple, yet something so beautiful. Sweet crispy outsides and a warm, soft texture on the inside. It hard sugar crystals and added a nice crunch on the outside. It was a pretty huge portion, considering I was at a food truck and it was made fresh. I got the Nutella Waffle (4) and it was just a whole smear of Nutella on top of this sweet jem that was quickly devoured into my stomach. I wanted them all. The one with the powered sugar and then the Nutella and whip cream! It was just happiness all around the truck from kids to adults all just salivating at the smell of the waffle air that filled around us. I was at the lakeshore location and the line moved quickly and the truck was clean. I like that a lot. There was only one guy working but he looked so happy to be serving us. It's a good stop for a sweet treat, but the portion is a little bit too much for one person though. Caution though, if you have a sweet tooth it's about to get a little bit sweeter! Bring cash to make it simple! Ps. Your hands are going to get messy.

I got the waffle with Nutella.. and I am hooked! The waffle itself had a nice crunch on the outside, but soft on the inside while being flavorful on it's own without the Nutella. It was a great way to start my morning. http://sexydishes.blogspot.com/2011/12/quick-bites-waffle-mania.html

How good can a friggin waffle possibly be??? I paid $9.70 just to take BART from South Hayward all the way to Civic Center just to taste these majestic $3 Belgian waffles and you know what? - It was worth every penny!! We must have come at a really good time because there was no line, but right after we bought our baggy, there stood 7 hungry patrons ready to nibble on this powdered sugary delight. The first bite was pure bliss (minus all the sugar flying off onto my clothes). The batter is naturally sweet with a hint of maple syrup flavor already infused in the waffle. Since there were 3 of us, we went with the 4 for $12 special thinking I could finish off 1 1/2 waffles. Unfortunately, after the first one, I had to call it quits. Not because it was overloaded with sweetness or anything, but I wanted to save room for the other street vendors at Farmer's Market. You can add whipped cream for an extra 50 cents and it tastes sooooo much better. Mr. Waffle Man, you are truly a godsend. Please come out more often than just Wednesday mornings! (Located on Market St. right in front of Farmer's Market outside the Civic Center BART station.)

After searching for Sam's Chowdermobile in Golden Gate Park and consuming my first lobster roll, I was ready for something sweet to balance my savory lunch. Luckily, the Wafflemania truck was situated right next to Sam's Chowdermobile! After much contemplation, I decided to try one of their powdered sugar concoctions. The waffle was delicious with a slightly crispy outer layer and a chewy, fluffy center. The waffle was surprisingly thick, which was good because I don't like overly crispy waffles. The powdered sugar made a real mess on my black jacket. I think I'll try the whipped cream or Nutella alternative next time. $3.50/waffle is a bit pricey though but worth it for a try.

A little bit more expensive but worth the price

Best waffle I've ever had. Hope to open at other locations such as ferry building market :-D Is it possible to have more toppings such as fruit plus cream?

Just like we used to get on the Manly Ferry Perry - 10 years ago. We have dreamed of these things for YEARS! You do not need a topping on this perfect firm but so good chewy caramelized treat. Nuttela is pretty good as well; just be ready for a sugar coma 15 minutes later. Fantastic! A perfect food!

Open air, a mix of food trucks, people hanging out, dogs everywhere, and that easy San Francisco energy where you can show up however you are and it fits. It never feels like a production, just a good place to land. We have eaten our way through a decent chunk of the trucks at this point, and that is half the fun. One day it is something messy and indulgent, the next it is lighter, but it always hits. Grabbing a drink, finding a spot at the picnic tables, and slowly settling in as the place fills up is kind of the rhythm. It is social without being overwhelming, lively without being chaotic. What keeps us coming back is how consistent it feels in the best way. It is easy, flexible, and always a good time whether you stay for an hour or lose an entire afternoon there. It is the kind of spot that turns into a routine before you even realize it, and honestly, we are not mad about it.

Beyond that, the food and drinks are all food truck based. They are all quite good, and there's a wide variety of items. This also means a good variety for folks with different dietary needs, because they are mostly picking their own food. I have always enjoyed my time here, whether it's on company dime or if I'm just hanging out with friends. I do wish that there are more heaters around for the colder days but that's just life in the bay! It can be kind of cold and foggy all seasons here, so if you have a solid group of folks I'd recommend reserving a spot with a fire pit. One more note: parking can be tough. You either have to circle around for street parking, or rideshare here.

I was getting hungrier watching them make each sandwich. Luckily once I ordered and paid, they immediately hand you one that's already made so you don't have to wait. I normally don't buy lunch when I'm in the office. I usually do meal preps, but now, I check their calendar to see if they're going to be at the Ferry Building so I can pick up a sandwich for lunch. That's how much I like them. And even pitching the idea of getting catering from them for our next work gathering. Expect to wait in line for chicken and the porchetta sandwich during lunch hours. WHOLE ROLIROTI GOURMET ROTISSERIE CHICKEN ~ dark meat was good while the white meat was dry. They need some kind of dipping sauce or something for it. Seasoning was not evenly spread out so some parts were saltier on the skin. Lots of herbs like thyme and rosemary. Just too bad the meat didn't stay juicy. 3.5/5 ROTISSERIE PORCHETTA SANDWICH ~ skin was crispy and burnt, so it was bitter yet crunchy. Pork was tender, but I didn't taste much of the jam. I did not like the bitter burnt skin. I personally thought it threw the flavor off. If it wasn't bitter, it would have scored higher. I always enjoy bread toasted when having a sandwich. Sadly, they don't toast it. My friend loves this sandwich and told me the skin wasn't supposed to be crunchy and burnt! So I'm assuming this wasn't typical. 3/5 The 4 of us shared the whole chicken and split the porchetta sandwich. But hearing that the sandwich wasn't made correctly this time around, I'm compelled to give it another try in the future.

There were plenty of craft vendors and food vendors, organized space-wise by category: craft vendors were closer to the entrance, food vendors were farther in. My favorites from the craft side were the amount of curated clothes sellers!! Soooo many cute jackets, dresses, tops, skirts, shoes, and bags. There were also a couple music stages playing music -- I liked that they had enough space between them so the sound didn't overlap when you were trying to listen to the artist(s) at either stage. The stage in the back was more of a DJ set, playing house music, and the stage in front had live music -- they had a full band and even a group playing an Irish jig earlier in the day, which was very fun. There were plenty of alcohol stations all around -- in the back, in the front, lining the whole perimeter of the event. There was also a good variety of crafts and a solid selection of food vendors. My only wish is that there had been more sweet options because there were tons of savory options. But overall, everything was very diverse, looked great, and was interesting and unique -- you had Nepali food, Indonesian food, Indian food, Mexican food, etc. -- very ethnically diverse. Overall, I think this is a great event and opportunity to spend time with loved ones (fun for adults and families alike!), grab a bite, and support local businesses! The friend I came with said the market has grown so much since before the pandemic, so it's lovely to see the community show up and show out for this. I hope OTG and WCC continue to host this market! Capelo's Barbecue: My friend and I ordered from Capelo's Barbecue's food truck. We got the 3-meat plate with beef brisket, pork ribs, and BBQ smoked chicken. First -- that line was hella long. We waited about 30 minutes (not including the wait after for the food), but it was fun since I had my friend to talk to. The layout of the menu and pricing were quite clear, so it was easy to decide what we wanted while we waited in line. Also, no dedicated seating area for the truck (night market!). The meats: beef brisket and pork ribs were an extra $2 each on the meat plate. The beef brisket was my favorite -- super smoky and so tender, almost melt-in-your-mouth, but not mushy. Just the perfect texture. Honestly, I wish it had a little more salt to add another layer of flavor besides just meat and smoke, but I still enjoyed the heck out of that brisket. The pork ribs were solid -- not the most amazing ribs I've ever had, but good flavor and texture. They weren't fall-off-the-bone tender, but they had a satisfying chew. I had to put some effort into tearin' the flesh from the bone with my teeth (as you do with ribs), and I liked that. The BBQ smoked chicken? Honestly, nothing special. It was a good, neutral option compared to the brisket and ribs, but the main flavor I picked up was black pepper. Solid chicken breast, but nothing memorable. Even the skin was meh. For the sides, we chose the baked beans and mac and cheese. The baked beans were wonderfully sweet and savory -- they paired perfectly with the BBQ. The mac and cheese was good and worked well with everything, but it wasn't particularly special on its own. Altogether, I think we paid around $32 for the plate. If I hadn't been splitting it with another person, honestly, I don't know if it would've been worth it -- but it was good in the moment. Quite tasty overall.

TWICE AT GOLDEN GATE PARK…read more In the past 11 months I've been to two exhibitions at De Young Museum. After the exhibitions instead of eating at the cafe in the museum I would look at food trucks at Golden Gate Park. After those two exhibitions I've ordered food from this food truck. The first time I came to Cochinita was in September after the exhibition featuring photos taken by Paul McCartney during the rise of The Beatles. The item that stood out from the truck was the elote tots. They were Mexican-style corn kernels top over tater tots. I am a sucker for tater tots. With sour cream and sauce I was worried if the tater tots would be soggy. The tater tots were still crispy. The complimenting textures of corn and tater tots made this a satisfying dish. The second time I came to the food truck at Golden Gate Park was the last day of exhibition "Monet and Venice." I was hoping to see if the elote tater tots were available; they weren't. I scanned up and down the items available listed on the food truck. One item that intrigued me was the tradicional - a plate with two types of fried tortilla. The panucho is regular fried while the salbut is fried with a puffy appearance. I love fried food, but these two tortillas weren't oily. These two kinds of tortilla fried dishes provided different textures to the toppings. I never ate Yucatan food before ordering food at Cochinita. If you are tasting a new cuisine you never had before ordering from a restaurant versus a food truck is different. Whereas in a restaurant while sitting you ask for recommendation whereas at a food truck while you're standing you go with your gut feeling. From my two experiences at the Cochinita food truck I ordered items I never had before and I enjoyed both of them. If I go to the Chochinita food truck at Golden Gate Park again and see elote tots, panucho, and salbut what will I order next time? I'm going to order an item I never had before.

My friend and I ordered the turmeric golden latte and the butterfly pea latte from the "botanical + herbal" section. Both drinks looked beautiful, but they tasted surprisingly thin and pretty flavorless. There wasn't much depth or richness, and we were confused because we expected a latte-style drink to include espresso. After asking the barista, we learned that the botanical + herbal drinks don't come with coffee or espresso at all. That wasn't clearly indicated, and the word "latte" definitely led us to assume otherwise. To their credit, the barista was kind and offered to add an espresso shot to my drink once I mentioned the confusion. After the addition, it tasted significantly better and finally had some body. I just don't understand why that wouldn't be the default or at least clearly labeled on the menu. The concept and setting are appealing, but the experience itself felt underwhelming.
