Walked for something simple, like strawberry mango. That was all. Can't go wrong right?? WRONG!! This is for the young ladies who are making these desserts. 1) Please try the juice or puree before serving it to your customer. It definitely needed to be sweeter. Not sure how you're suppose to achieve that but I shouldn't be eating a glacier with a hint of fruity flavor. It was so bland. 2) Understand that when you make these desserts that just because the juice color has immersed into the ice, doesn't mean there's enough. Please add more juice or flavored liquid to your orders. Colored water isn't enough! I want to taste the fruit, not the freezer. Imagine eating a not so riped watermelon that's barely sweet and barely red. Yes, that's what I had tonight. 3) When using Apple Pay to make my purchase, it would not let me skip the "tip" portion. After seeing pics of the ube shave ice, I had to try it out. We got the ube shave ice with vanilla ice cream and mochi for about $1 extra. We only waited a little less than 3 minutes for our order and it looked phenomenal. The ube foam on top was so pretty and the deep purple color was so cool. Majority of the ice was soft, but there were parts where the ice was more crunchy and flavorless. This spot definitely brings a crowd for a good reason, but I can't say it's the best I've ever had. read more

My friends & I went on a tour de shave ice to find the best one in Kauai. Wailua is hands down our favorite spot for some shave ice. This was conveniently located near our hotel. There's plenty of parking in the plaza, which I like. We went here multiple times and can tell you that the line varies depending on the time of the day. When we went in the afternoon, line was long. However, it's not too bad. Pretty quick service. You just might have issues with finding a table, but you can eat outside. For the shave ice, I really enjoyed the lava flow and ube. The lava flow comes with haupia cream - this was delicious btw. None of the other shave ice locations had haupia cream like this. The ube was good too. I like that it wasn't too sweet and goes well with the toasted coconut. The girl at the register did tell me that if I needed more ube flavoring, I can just go up and ask. 10/10 recommend this place! I'm still dreaming about the haupia cream! read more

Without a doubt the best shave ice I have eaten to date. No artifical flavors here (unless specified on the menu), fresh fruit, and friendly staff. There was a line of 6 or so people, but the kids working were ridiculously efficient, both taking order, shaving ice, adding toppings, and calling out orders. Huge props to them. Got the strawberry mango with huapia foam...HUAPIA FOAM IS A MUST IF YOU LIKE COCONUT!!! It's both light, rich, slightly sweet, and it sort of reminded me of a delicious, coconutty, Newtonian fluid. Inside was packed, but there are a couple benches directly outside their door, or shared seating with the Subway (but beware of sticky seats!). Only complaint is we didn't order another. We got the lava flow shave ice and there was more of a focus on the treat as a whole vs just the ice and the syrup. The crowd seems to agree as the place was full right before they closed also. Wonderful shave ice. Except for rainbow or root beer, all flavors are real fruit juice not sugary syrup. The snow cap adder is my favorite. This was 5 star but now it is one. My husband and I both ordered a shave ice. Mine was with ice cream and his was not. Both came without. When I explained this to the girls at the counter I was confronted with attitude. We both proved that there was no ice cream in ours. She eventually remade mine. While eating we noticed how very dirty the tables and serving counter were. Note, staff does not clean the tables but instead they give you a canister of wipes for the customers to clean the tables before you eat. You would think with five people working at one time, one of them could keep the area clean. They were more concerned with taking pictures and checking their phone during non-customer down times. read more
