This place is great! My boyfriend and I were craving some Japanese food one night and this place popped up. Since we first ordered from here, we have tried the beef udon noodle soup, pork udon noodle soup, tempura shrimp udon noodle soup, yaki udon shrimp, spicy ramen, and miso soup. Our favorite by far is the beef udon noodle soup! It has a wonderful flavor and is loaded with vegetables too. The miso soup is also very good, and we always get at least two every time we order. I only wish the spicy ramen was spicier since my spice tolerance is pretty high. The customer service is wonderful too! A few times after we first ordered from here, the staff would remember my name and draw cute pictures as shown in the below images. The woman at the checkout even told me to wait in my car when my order wasn't ready yet and she brought it out to me! This place is a great little find. You can tell the employees (owners?) really care about serving the customer and putting out great food. The menu is wide and varied. The restaurant is small but clean and organized. I ordered a chicken tempura bento box and a cucumber salad. It was about $18. Plenty of food for 2+ meals for me. The bento box had a hefty serving of rice and chicken, 3 gyoza dumplings with a dipping sauce, 4 pieces of California roll and miso soup (soooo good). The cucumber salad wasn't the best one I've ever had but they put the vinaigrette on the side, which was very thoughtful. Plenty of fresh cukes and seaweed. I didn't love the vinaigrette (it was a little smoky) but I didn't have to use it. Definitely tasty, and a good deal. Go support this small business! read more

Was craving sushi during covid-19 and happened across this place. Was a bit skeptical but this ended up being a really good dinner. The sushi tasted great and the miso soup is really flavorful. The customer service is amazing too, I called in and they told me the exact time my food would be ready and the minute I got there it was handed to me right away. I always order take out via an ap so I have no idea the service or what this restaurant looks like The food is very good I like nigiri sushi and it's hard to find it cut properly with well seasoned rice but this place gets it. The fish is the perfect thickness to get a good ratio of rice to fish and to get the proper flavor of the fish, there are never gross grisly pieces either which is problem at many sushi places. It's a bit pricey for casual/take out sushi, but given the convenience and quality I'm willing pay the extra. read more

I was looking for a new sushi spot and this place came up in my search. It's hard finding a good sushi place in the burbs, but I'm a big fan of fresh sushi. Sushi is also my favorite food, so I'm pretty picky and I don't often write reviews, but this place deserves it. We ordered salmon dragon, eel dragon, and rainbow rolls, and then unagi and salmon nigiri. All of it was fresh and tasty. I will say this is my new favorite spot in the burbs. So happy to find this gem five minutes from my home in Northbrook. I was looking online for sushi open late and Wajo popped up! Was skeptical as it was already 10 pm and how fresh could the fish still taste after sitting out all day? I'll tell you it was still awesome. We ordered the sashimi dinner, a few maki rolls, and the chicken fried rice. Sashimi dinner was plated beautifully and had a variety of fish. The maki rolls were nicely plated and tasted just as good. The real surprise came from the chicken fried rice - one of the best I've ever had. Even was served with the fried egg on top with sesame seeds! I've been back twice this week. Ps: They also give free miso soup when you order. I'll definitely be going back. read more

Wanted to try out a new place for some sushi and then some- and was blown away!! I ordered quite a bit of food for me and my s/o, to try out as much as we could because we love sushi. The spicy rolls were spicy- not just spiced up with the spicy mayo (which I also loved). The smoked salmon roll was great too!! My boyfriend loved the teriyaki plate, and the spicy ramen was amazing! I don't know how this restaurant is getting 5 stars; it's not all that. We had ordered their ramen and fried rice and when I say disgusting I mean it. The ramen was water downed and they put so many vegetables you can't taste any meat flavor. Also, it tastes like chemicals to top it off. One thing they could improve is giving you enough soy sauce and a plastic dipping tray on the togo orders. Had a California roll that was great and much bigger than others we have had, great Miso soup and a great house salad with ginger dressing that was more than just lettuce, carrot shavings and ginger dressing. Next time we will sample much more and can't wait. If you are looking for great Sushi, inviting environment, and great staff, look no further. You will not be disappointed. read more

The broth tasted like lightly salted water-- no flavor at all. And they were $10 each! The sushi was just okay, nothing special. If you're looking for ramen, skip this place. Ordered for delivery die to statewide shutdown. The menu looks great, lots of choices. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. Everything was bland almost to the point of flavorless, and those that were worth eating just weren't right. Worst pot stickers and noodles ever, thick, doughy, and flavorless. It's very unfortunate I have to leave this review because the food is really good, they have reasonable prices, and the younger lady that makes the food is very kind. However, the older lady who works as the cashier is so incredibly rude that it's hard to want to go back. When you enter, she glares at you like you don't belong there. Then when you correct her on the price that she charged you, she says "well we changed the price but we didn't get around to changing the menu yet and that's not my fault." Then she'll ask you if you really need the soup that your meal comes with. Then when you mention that the menu says the meal comes with soup, she'll say "well we changed the menu to have that meal not include soup anymore but we didn't get around to changing the menu yet and that's not my fault." Absolutely ridiculous. When that lady is rightfully fired, I will change my stars to the 5 this restaurant deserves and go back to supporting this great local sushi joint. read more
