The doughnuts are not bad but I was quite unimpressed. The dough was not very light or fluffy--pretty dense and honestly kind of cold. I could barely taste the espresso in my espresso glazed doughnut which was disappointing. I am not a fan of the kitschy toppings like fruity pebbles and pretzels and random things that don't even sound appealing or thought-through so I had a hard time finding flavors I wanted to try. I love this place! I have never found a place that has gluten free donuts in all my travels. I'm sure they exist, but they're sort of like unicorns. Pathetic COVID response by Wake N Bake. I've always liked this place and the employees are very kind. But there are absolutely no procedures being done here to combat coronavirus whatsoever. Employees are not wearing any protective equipment - no masks, no gloves. They're handling everyone's payment with their bare hands then grabbing your food. They're breathing all over everything just like normal as well. The store also isn't limiting the number of customers inside. There were about 25 customers inside when I was there, no social distancing to speak of. The condiments for coffee are just sitting in a bowl like normal for everyone to stick their hands into. You'd never know there was a worldwide pandemic going on when you step into this Wake N Bake location. Like I said, I've always felt this was a great establishment. But seeing how hard other restaurants are working to combat COVID it's pretty pathetic and disheartening to come to Wake N Bake and see this. It makes it seem like all of the hard work and sacrifices that other businesses are making to keep people safe are all for nothing. This is how the disease spreads and it only takes one bad apple to ruin it for everyone. Please do better Wake N Bake. read more

There is nothing simple about this business, with over a dozen flavors' you made need to be rolled out after indulging in these heavenly treats. Best part about Waking and Baking? It's open late. I stopped by Friday night a little after nine. There was a short line but not to worry there are free donut holes to munch on while you wait. I ordered the signature wake and bake with maple icing and apple wood smoked bacon. Amazing is an understatement. These doughnuts are the light and fluffy with the perfect amount of icing. Looking for adventure? They offer a different specialty stuffed doughnut every week. I was tempted but did not indulge in the doughnut stuffed with an oatmeal cream pie but I really sad I missed the chance to try the pumpkin pie stuffed doughnut. I rarely visit a business and immediately write a review. But Wake N Bake is SO awesome, I can not wait to help spread the word. First off, customer service here is great! During my visit, every customer was greeted with a cheerful "Welcome to Wake N Bake!! It feels good to visit a business where your presence is appreciated. The shop is clean and neat. They have a small seating area and a couple bar counters to sit at. Best of all, they have samples! Some customers are professional, one dude rattled off his dozen choices without any hesitation. Clearly, he had been here many times. For me, all the choices looked amazing. But my choice was easy. I love maple iced. And bacon. So, I got the Wake N Bacon. I can't adequately describe how good their donuts are. They are fat. But not tough. They are soft. The texture is good. It seems like their donuts have a little something extra for added flavor. Mine was bathed in just the right amount of icing. And loved the crunchy bacon. You want to take your time eating, each bite deserves to be savored. I can not wait to go back! read more

Good place on the island to get hot or iced coffee. They have an extensive choice of very unique topping with their donuts. The fritters also looked tasty. Wake-n-Bake is a really cool doughnut and coffee shop with some pretty wild and creative varieties of doughnuts and fritters. It is a little small and cramped with a few tables if you want to sit, at times the line is out the door and sometimes they have to close early because they sell out of all the goods. It's located in the Food Lion shopping center just as you cross Snow's Cut Bridge onto the island. Everything is made fresh and everything I've ever tried here has been just awesome. The only negative thing I can say is about the doughnuts that are topped with Fruity Pebbles(Pebble Rock) and Froot Loops(Loopy Morning). If those are not eaten right away and set for any amount of time (like if you get a dozen doughnuts to-go and they sit for a half day) the cereal soaks up moisture from the icing and goes from a crunchy topping to a soggy stale topping. I really like the Maui Wauie, probably my favorite of what I've had here, it has cream cheese icing with a pineapple ring on top and a cherry in the middle, it's the perfect beach doughnut. Wake-n-Bakes fritters are massively huge and crazy good, 'bout big as a hubcap. They do a different flavor fritter everyday. Awesome with a big cup of coffee. Definitely a place to check out if you're on the island looking for some great doughnuts. read more

The only possible reason I would not want to live in Carolina Beach would be that I"d be so close to this place. Doughnuts here are wild and crazy my favourite are the fritters blueberry to be exact. The donuts are very sweet and they do not hold back with icing you definitely get your money's worth.
