Difficult to believe that this place can remain open for long. I ordered the Chicken sandwich and fries. The sandwich was wrapped in paper that was covered with sauce...there was no way to handle it without my hands getting completely drenched with it. To make matters worse, there wasn't a single napkin placed in the take out bag. The bun was so sauce-logged that it fell apart while trying to eat the sandwich. I felt like I needed a shower just to clean up afterward. 90% of the fries were an inch or shorter. You could barely dip them in the ketchup without also dipping your fingers. Here again, the lack of napkins being a major issue. The fries were also irregularly seasoned...some unsalted and others much too salty. I don't usually take the time to write reviews. But you should be warned in advance that this isn't a quality experience. read more

We drove thru the drive thru as we were in the hotel just up the street and wanted something to take back to the room. The issue I have is when we paid we were told they needed us to answer a few questions and immediately handed us the key pad with tip amount we would like to add. I normally tip when I go to a sit down restaurant and get waited on. If I go thru a drive there If I want to tip I normally hand them a couple of bucks cash. This was not an option and felt like if we wanted our food we wold leave a 20% tip or more. This is un called for and when in the area I will not visit the location again. read more

A welcome add to Franklin, Waldo's offers a good selection of chicken - fried, roasted, wings - and good sides (very good fries, cole slaw, greens, cheese biscuits). They have a wide beer selection and prices are reasonable. I really reallllllyyyy want to love this place -- fried chicken and beer? What more could you want in a "cheat" meal? Sadly, it just didn't live up to my expectations. Came here for takeout lunch on a Monday and used the drive through; it luckily wasn't super crowded and I had no wait. I asked the girl serving me some questions at the menu to make sure my order size reflected how hungry I was, and she very helpfully steered me between a few options I was considering. I got the OG chicken sandwich with fries, Alabama white sauce on the side, an order of the cheddar biscuit basket, and a drink. It is a little pricier than your standard fast food, but I expect that in an establishment where everything is made from scratch. I tried a fry (they were fresh/hot) before leaving the parking lot, and was disappointed by how soggy/not crispy they seemed. Not my favorite style of fry. Digging into the sandwich when I got home, I was similarly disappointed that there was very little meat in the sandwich; it was mostly fried crunchiness, which took away from the excellent sauce, pickles, & toasted bun. The one really bright spot of the meal were the biscuits, which were slightly sweet, soft, & fluffy and served with a tasty & dip-able honey butter. Willing to give this location another try. New(ish,) overrated, and still trying to make its way in the world, Waldo's signage implies you're visiting a bar. There is a bar. Alcohol is served. But, it's not a bar you're going to frequent. Why? Because it's too small and too busy. (And the hundreds of apartment units across the road don't even have tenants, yet.) The Friday night dinner rush is just ramping up as we arrive and the rotisserie / fire roasted chicken is already sold out. Not a good situation, but it'll get a pass as restaurants are still dealing with pandemic-inspired shortages of able staff, supplies, etc. If it's missing on a future visit I reserve the right to revoke the pass. Planted in a space tighter than some spots where millions of burgers have been sold, Waldo's has a decidedly fast food footprint that offers overflow to outside picnic tables, but expects no one to hang around too long. Quick turnaround is necessary for that small space (a solid miss for hopes of being inviting or successful as a neighborhood bar.)  Unlike burger joints, there are some good flavors, tasty salads, over-salted soggy fries made from good tasting taters (so you may not mind the sog,) and other items yet to be tried. If you're a fan of Carolina-styled vinegar-based barbecue sauces, you'll enjoy the 'cue. The honey mustard sauce leans toward that tang, too, but I enjoyed it. With fried chicken being the only option, I went for the tenders. The fry is a scant floured coating with just a bit of crunch, but it holds up well to the super-moist meat (it should make a great sandwich.) Your mileage may vary, but my cocktail was a pint glassful of crushed ice and nary room for a straw or a cocktail. Lesson learned? Check! Based upon the size of the tenders I received, the gate allowing chickens from the parking lot to the kitchen is sized for runts. Three tenders does not a meal make. One tender might make a nice, albeit small, slider. It does raise a wonder for how long the bone-in mains may have been out of the egg before chatting-up Waldo for a beer. read more

Second time at this location. Got take out. Positives: the chicken sandwiches are really great. I believe we've (wife and I) ordered the fowl mouth every time. It's been great every time. Negatives: 1) Fries were bizarrely soggy. Like I don't even know how they could be that soggy. 2.) I asked the guy who handed me the order if there were ketchups in the bag and he said there were two per container. There were zero ketchup packets. Thinking of the food I had here makes my mouth immediately start to water, I want it so bad. I'd eat it every day for the rest of my life if I could. Let's give this chicken shack the rundown. Walked in for dinner last night and met a friendly employee behind the counter ready to take our order. My son and I gave the menu a quick glance and settled on a basket of tenders and fries for him and the "Party Fowl" sandwich with coleslaw for me. We found a seat at a table that could've been cleaned better and after looking around, noticed that others were about the same. That's an easy fix and I hope Waldo's will pay attention in that regard. We observed the interesting décor as we looked around the dining room and both agreed that the "fowled up" painting of SRV above our table was a nice touch. The food was delivered quickly and we had our first taste Waldo's chicken. The Party Fowl is a flat-out hit of a sandwich. Nicely done! It has some kick, so be forewarned. No real heat, but it's super spicy. I'm particular about coleslaw and thought Waldo's was crispy and tasty. My son reported that the tenders and fries were a little heavy on the seasonings, especially pepper, but he enjoyed both. It's hard for a chicken joint to stand out in a chicken town, but Waldo's is doing a good job of it. We'll be back - thank you! read more

I'll start off by saying the food is great and the outdoor picnic area is perfect for some sun in-between meetings on a work day. That said...every interaction I have with an employee in this location makes me wonder if they're all being held prisoner. On top of that, without fail, the order comes out wrong in some form every time. When you ask them to fix the order, they act as if you committed a crime against humanity. It's met with a sigh and eye roll, even when being extremely polite because you know how brutal a lunch rush can be in the middle of a corporate amusement park that is Cool Springs. Again, the food is great every time. It's consistent. A little more training in customer service would go a long way toward making this place perfect. read more

We use the drive through a lot here and it hasn't been as good lately. Salad tonight was missing croutons and almonds, as well as habanero oil that I asked for on the side. Chicken always put in foil and not in the salad so it stays crispy but not tonight. Last time only one sauce given for the 6 finger feast and not two. Very inconsistent lately. read more

This place is great, we would recommend it to anyone. We usually eat here at least one a week, either in person or in the drive-thru. The chicken tenders have a batter with lots of seasonings (especially pepper) that give them a nice pop without being too overwhelming. The breading isn't too thick and crunchy, but also doesn't get soggy. The Fowl Mouth sandwich is my go-to with a lot of flavor but not too much heat. It comes with a mayo slaw that compliments it perfectly. My only complaint is that the sauce cups are usually only 1/3 to 1/2 full, which wouldn't be a huge issue, except that they charge extra for sauce. Aside from that, the place is great and I wouldn't hesitate to take people here or recommend it. read more

Where do I start...dirty, smelly, horrible fast food joint. The chicken tenders were TINY, size of a baby's finger, and greasy as hell. The sides were flavorless and basic. The service was horrid, the "manager" is a slob and the people in the kitchen aren't any better. It's basically a fast food place run by imbeciles, I can only imagine who owns this place. I'd rather eat Chick-fil-A or even TACO BELL! Just another "fast-casual" chain in the South owned by greedy people who like fast money. I also had the worst cocktail I've ever prob had in my entire life - couldn't even drink it. The staff up front don't look a day over 16 and it shows in their immaturity. The restrooms were also disgusting - I found a dead roach near the trashcan. Can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. I will never return EVER ever ever ever. Gross. I love Waldos. Good quality food; the menu items are the usual things you would expect from a fried chicken place but they are just on another level of flavor. The Mac & cheese, onion rings, and Fowl Mouth sandwich are my personal favorites. Although the chicken tenders I find to be too dry. My children and a couple wimpy family members complain their breading is too 'spicy', so if any spice bothers you it's something to think of. Our family goes often so I just want to touch on a couple things I hope management will address. The extra sauces are .45 cents, fine no problem, but they are almost always barely filled up (picture attached). I shouldn't have to spend an extra $5 just to not eat my delicious food dry. Secondly, why isn't the onion rings available to order online? We bring it up every visit and they always say it should be and they will fix it. First tried them through drive through and although it was a bit of a wait, the food was delicious. The chicken tenders were hot and crispy. They sprinkle them with seasoned salt and allow you to pick a sauce for dipping. The potato wedges were perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They were wonderfully sprinkled with seasoned salt as well. I decided to go back with my family a few weeks later and dine inside. The staff is polite and patient. You order and then find somewhere to sit (they'll bring your food out). My husband ordered the exact thing I got last time. While the chicken was still perfectly cooked, the wedges were a little soggy and didn't have any seasoning. My salad was quite tasty and very large. However, I asked for no almonds and they still came. Thankfully, I'm not allergic so I just picked them out that best I could. Overall, this is a pretty solid place. Hopefully they get a bit more consistent though. read more

We were served under cooked bloody chicken wings even after I asked for extra crispy. The blond older female manager was rude. The awkwardness from her was palpable after I asked her to give me the beer that was less pricey when we ordered our meal before sitting. When she came to our table to address the undercooked eight chicken wings, she indicated that the kitchen cooked the chicken for extra "one minute" and what we were served was extra crispy. We trusted what she said so we proceeded to devoir the wings until we discovered the red bloody blood vessel when the meat was pulled off the bone. The male manager came to our table and offered to recook the wings. He brought six wings back to our table. I also would like to mention that the bathroom was so dirty.
