Came in at 1:30 in the afternoon was told by the cashier, who was an older lady, that the lunch deal was happening. All you can eat salad and all you can eat pizza. Mind you I was with my gf and friend. My friend had mentioned that we were cutting it close due to the fact that the lunch deal was over at 2. The cashier lady had told us we had plenty of time. Mean time, a couple other customers had came in after us and they had not bothered to make new pizzas at all. Since 1:30 in the afternoon she had told us we had plenty of time with only one batch of pizzas?? Obviously the people after us took the rest of the pizzas, so when we wanted to more, the lady told me to get a slice of what was left!! When I told her I wanted just pepperoni she told me "just take the pineapples off!" What kind of BS is that??? So for almost $30 we all just had one plate of 2 pizzas. This pizza parlor started as Sunshine Pizza long, long ago before it became Walery's in 1986. If you are one of those who grew up in West Salem, you most likely have fond childhood memories of celebrating birthday parties, sports team parties, or Friday and Saturday evenings here. Thank goodness Walery's has retained the delicious dough recipe from that space's glory days as Sunshine Pizza Exchange (many memorable bdays and end-of-season soccer team parties!). The way the dough bubbles and splits apart into layers - delicious! Best pizza in Salem, I agree! As an aside, I think it's funny that anyone would criticize the decor of a pizza place in a strip mall in Salem. Going to Walery's makes me want to ask my dad for quarters to play video games, and I like that. Terrible customer service I went with 4 friends and we were deciding what pizza to get and this cocky male cashier completely ignored us Eventually another lady came to take our order Later on, I asked for several cups and the same male server looked at me for a second and looked away. Then he walked into the kitchen. Another lady server noticed he purposely ignored me and said "omg he just totally ignored it." I just devoured half of a pizza. No joke. I should probably feel ashamed, but I don't. Walery's pizza is the best pizza I have ever had. I always get the pepperoni pizza. It's pure perfection. Itty bitty spicy pepperoni pieces cover the top and they are crispy on the edges. I don't know what kind of cheese they use but it is awesome. You must try this pizza. read more

Salad bar was poorly stocked. Quality of food is not what I expected based on other peoples reviews. I agree that the convenience of the buffet bar is nice but the food could be so much better. It's always busy and seems pretty crowded at peak hours I'm still scratching my head. read more

Wallerys is hands down my favorite pizza in the world. I went there last weekend and ordered a large taco pizza to go. I grabbed the pizza a drove 5 minutes home. When I opened the pizza it was cold. It tasted like it had been sitting for an hour or two and reheated over and over. Anyway it was not the same quality I was used to. I am heading back this coming Saturday to order another taco pizza and we will see if anything has changed. read more

Best pizza in America! I've lived in Oregon, Maryland, California, Virginia, Florida, and now in a different city in Cali and I've found nothing better. Every time I come home this is THE place I always go. The crust is a mixture of crispy and chewy I've yet to find elsewhere, (Double price Paddington's excluded), the bottom has that crunch but above the layer of crunch is chewy, bubbly goodness. Then a less then normal amount of sauce, because who wants the sauce to overpower their toppings. A generous amount of joyous mozzarella and topped with little pepperonis that curl up when they cook. The Hawaiian is excellent, adding to a half and half powerhouse. I just finished an 18 hour drive from Oregon to Southern California and I was nourished along the way by my take out Walery's pizza I picked up on the way out of town. I live right up the hill from this place. I decided to get take out this week because they just had a robbery, and the community is trying to show their support and appreciation. From the time I called in to order, til the time I finished my pizza they did not disappoint. The person taking my order was very nice, and professional. She also remembered to ask if I wanted fresh or canned mushrooms, good thing, because I forgot to say! I highly recommend the fresh mushrooms paired w/ sausage. That's a 2 topping large pizza for $16.99. When I arrived the pizza was in a warmer. When I got it home it was hot, fresh & delicious! Which reminds me, I have leftovers in the fridge! Recently moved to Salem and was told this was the best pizza so we thought we'd try it out. It was probably the worst pizza I've ever had! It should tell you something that my kids would barely touch it! Canned mushrooms, tasteless barely melted cheese, no sauce to speak of and raw bell peppers set on top of the pizza and to top it off it was $25 for a large! Honestly little Caesar's is better. How this place was ever voted best pizza I don't know. I'm giving it one star for being technically edible and for having decent service. Save your money and don't bother trying it out. read more

Came back to reminisce on old times of the two topping special. The pizza is ok, maybe it was better a few years ago, sure seems familiar. It's decent but I dropped my 4 stars to 2 because while the pizza is meh-ok, it seems like it's been sitting around or the ingredients are just not that great. Not to mention the special has gone up a few bucks since. Olives were primarily in the center of the pizza and the soda fountain situation is like something out of the 80's but no longer in a good way. Soda was bland RC Cola and now you have to pay for refills and purchase at the drink counter, a little behind the times aren't we? And the atmosphere is nuts, like a kids playground. Ok, not a food snob but a service snob. But here's the thing, the service here is either so good you don't notice, or so bad you don't care to. So this, surprise, is about the food and the place. The place. Well it was odd my first trip. Lots of 1970's and 80's rock and film memorabilia on the walls (and "disks" my son calls them on the ceiling) but they were playing country music. Didn't matter, when the fun started happening you could still see the BeeGees pics but could only hear the laughing. The salad bar is pretty typical of a place like this. Although I don't know why no one seems to carry plain vinegar and oil anymore. The pizza was ok, better than Pietro's and Pizza Hut and maybe Figaro's but not as good as DiNicola's or Round Table can be. One of the best draws here is ...the arcade. I mean plain straight "it takes quarters" arcade. Some of the games are newer (say 2000's) but some are rather old (1980's) all seem well cared for and clean. The best you can hope for in an old school arcade. So no real news on the service. I mean it was good, I have no complaints which is weird, 'cus i usually do. read more

Chuck E Cheese kind of a kids pizza place. Food was decent. Salad bar was funky...nothing labled...lettuce wilted....etc. Service was good for a kids birthday party type of pizza joint. Like others on here, I will say the pizza is good... some of the best in Salem. My problem is that the only sodas you can get there are RC cola, and the other RC products. If you're an RC fan, then you can rejoice. If you're a beer drinker, it probably doesn't matter to you. But I'm a soda drinker, and RC products are gross (in my opinion). When I get a pizza there, I either get it to go, or bring in my own beverage. I asked the manager about it one time, as he was the one working the bar, and I got a rude, snarky response that essentially said "if you don't like it, go somewhere else." Best pizza ever! I grew up just up the road from Walery's and have since moved away. Every time I come home I get Walery's pizza on the first night I get here and another the night before I leave. I don't know how people could complain about the pizza or say it looks like a cardboard grocery store freezer pizza...couldn't be further from the truth. Try their ranch, it's amazing. I used to get pepperoni with mushroom or olive and have moved on to the Hawaiian Canadian bacon with pineapple and dip in ranch. I love their parmesan cheese as well...make sure you put a lot of the cheese on it. The taco pizza is awesome as well. The people that work there are super friendly....usually a lot of young kids in high school or college. Kudos to the staff at Walery's. Best pizza in Salem and a terrific staff- always friendly- I always get it to go for my staff about once a month and it is always hot and ready when I get there- Make sure to ask for fresh mushrooms though- I don't get the whole canned mushroom thing around here- this isn't the only place that uses canned ones- really? but they happily will put fresh ones on if you ask. read more

Most amazing pizza I have had here in town, if you are visiting family make this a place you go to before you leave. You will not be disappointed, we got the combination pizza and has everything you would want on it. The ranch is an extra $1.50 for a large but it will be enough for a large pizza. Walery's has great pizza. I always get pepperoni, olives, and mushrooms on my pizza. I'd recommend this pizza to anyone that likes the "cracker" type crust which is crunchy. If you like soft thick crust then this place wouldn't be for you. They definitely aren't the freshest pizza I've ever had. I've seen them use canned vegetables while making my pizza. I guess the freshness comes from the sauce and crust since it is relatively good. I'd recommend this place to anyone that likes the harder crunchy crust but it wouldn't be the first place I'd recommend for pizza in the area. read more

The pizza is my absolute favorite of any pizza parlor in Salem, so why the 4 and not 5 stars? Customer service. You have to train the teenage staff that works the counter much better. Wallery's has been a mainstay in pizza for years in Salem. I grew up going to Wallery's, JC's, and Abbys. I don't live in the area any longer. A few weeks ago my wife and I went to Walllery's for a birthday. Same old same old, the place looks exactly like it used to 10 years ago. The pizza is the same. A litttle too greasy for my grown up tastes now. Decent though. Wallery's always has lots of help on duty, the majority of which is jail bait from the local high school. They are friendly and serve their purpose. All in all a decent place to go if your looking to rekindle the old days and pork out on pizza. read more

Wow so I grew up at this place. I liked the pizza, especially the crust. Like everyone else said the toppings are just okay, but the crust is amazing! Now me and my wife have been down in California for the past few years and only just moved back to Salem. I was so excited to go back to Walery's, but I must say it was a MAJOR disappointment. I called ahead to order my pizza, and asked what the special was. The girl on the phone was polite, and told me I could get a 2 toping pizzas for something like $13.49. I said I would get that, and ordered a half olive and pepperoni and a half chicken and onion. She told me no problem, and that it would be ready in 20 minutes. So me and my wife drove down, and when we got there I went up to the counter to pick up to pizza. The girl pulls it out and tells me it would be $20. I was like, no you told me that it would be $14 on the phone. The girl then told me it cost extra for chick. But $6 extra just for chicken?! I told the girl I didn't want the pizza then because the price I was quoted on the phone was different. She went to get the manager, and he was horrible. The manager was rude, unapologetic, and acted like the whole thing was my fault. He didn't even apologize for the mix up, and just said I could have the pizza for the $14, but that it wouldn't happen again. He acted like I should know the price of everything they had without them even telling, and then he just stomped off. I was in shock. I have received horrible customer service before but this was one of the worst. The only reason why I would EVER consider going back was because of the girl behind the counter. She was apologetic, explained the prices to me, and said how sorry she was about the whole thing. She should be managing, and not the short bald dude who was. We got the food home. It was pretty good, but some of the worst service I have ever received. read more
