I never once felt talked down to or rushed, which can honestly be rare in automotive situations. What impressed me most was how clearly they explained everything. They took the time to walk me through what was going on, what my options were, and what actually needed to be done (without trying to upsell anything unnecessary). That level of transparency builds immediate trust. They got me in and out exactly when they said they would, and the pricing was more than fair for the quality of service. Replacement for a 2015 GM subcompact cost $2,000 - Cost aside, I had to bring the vehicle back 3 times in the following 20 days because emission related errors kept popping up - most frustration was that one error was related to a new beak/gap in my exhaust piping (not there or seen during repair) I don't know how good they are with other repairs but I would look elsewhere for emission related issue.

So, due to having the 3yr or 36,000mile warranty I took my Truck in to be checked for these issues as I thought it was the AC Compressor being faulty. After setting an appointment with Chris @ this Location today they were specifically told by me Verbally to NOT due any other work on the AC if the Compressor is found not to be the issue under warranty only, they choose to NOT listen to me as the Customer and they performed additional work on my AC unit with the prior Authorization from my person ahead of time. The unexpected cost ended up costing $159.12 which I was not expecting to pay. The tech said that there was Debris in my AC Motor and took off the Panel accesses my AC unit and cleaned the Motor of said debris. This shop has done this to others of my family I my before and this was the last time I am going to their shop for anything regarding my Vehicles going forward. They told me I needed to bring the car in for an inspection, which I did. They said they perform a full inspection, and after a few hours, they gave me a report stating that, in addition to the rear brakes, it was "urgently needed" with a red exclamation icon to replace the water pump/alternator belts. The person at the front desk, XXXX was very impatient to have me decide whether I would ask them a service or not at the spot. They attached a photo and claimed the belts had cracks and damage, but the photo was unclear. Since I don't know much about cars, I agreed to the replacement. After the service was completed and I paid, I noticed the receipt said "serpentine belts replaced," which alarmed me because I had replaced the serpentine belt just the previous month. I didn't realize that the water pump belt is referred to as the serpentine belt. I went back to question them, and XXXX at the shop showed me the old belts. Of course they looked almost new (one completely IS new) and had no visible cracks or damage. I told him, "You replaced the belt that I had just replaced last month." XXXX responded by just saying, "Sorry, it looked damaged," but did not provide a satisfactory explanation. After this experience, I had my battery--which they had diagnosed as "weak"--checked at another shop. The technician there told me the battery was fine and did not need to be replaced. This experience felt like a complete rip-off. I will not return to this shop. If you are not knowledgeable about cars, be very very cautious, and always ask for another opinion at another shop(s). Based on my experience, they may recommend unnecessary repairs.

My first test was a question: impact or torque tool on drain plugs - correct answer was torque. So I proceeded to allow them to change my differential oil. When I got home I checked it - torque was good, oil was actually changed, and correct weight. This earned more business and they have done a great job every time with great service at competitive prices. Every visit has been perfect. You might ask why I went to all of this trouble. Well the monkey put the wrong oil in twice and caused over $1000 worth of damage doing a transaxle fluid change. They stripped the plug and the pan, plug, and overflow had to be replaced.

My opinion is that Tom's shop takes something of a scientific approach to vehicle repair and will go more in depth with an analyses than another shop I had been to for an issue with my '99 Tahoe. As an EV owner himself I gather that Tom is up on the current tech, perhaps more than some other places who would have men of my age (68) from the "dinosaur era" of automotive tech working at their shops.

There was a problem with the communication surrounding the tow transfer so I started my experience with Hands on Auto Tech with some trepidation. Tom handled the situation and we moved onto the real problem with my truck. The diagnosis was the clutch so I approved the repair and waited a few days for the parts to arrive and the repair to proceed. After the clutch was replaced another problem with the operation of the clutch was discovered so I agreed to the additional repair and another day for repair. After a week I was reunited with my truck. The repair was costly, lengthy and unexpected but coming out the other side of this experience I learned a couple of lessons. 1. If you have your vehicle towed to a shop follow the tow truck to the shop and verify the transfer. 2. Communication and follow up throughout the repair are key Tom was great to deal with and I feel that he was honest with me about the repairs needed and the cost of those repairs. Having recently moved to the area I feel my vehicle maintenance and repair needs can be checked off the list. I can recommend Hands on Auto Tech to anyone needing an honest repair facility and Tom as a good guy to deal with.

The majority of the cost was for a diagnostic, which we told them it was only the transmission we wanted checked. When we got the truck home, bults were missing from the shifter plate on the transmission. They took it off but didn't put back on leaving the shifter rattling around. We were told the transmission was fine. We took it to another shop where we discovered the transmission was shot. When we approached to owner we were dismissed and no consideration as a customer at all. No working with us at all. I would not recommend this shop to anyone.
