On 2/10, I went to Walmart with my sister after she was done her shift of work. That white chubby staff there as pretty racist. I showed my I.D trying to buy alcohol and she demanding my sister to show her I.D as well. But base on California law, the one who purchases the alcohol needs to be the one provide the I.D. My sister forgot to bring her I.D at that time, so we just told her directly that we don't. To clarify, both of us are old enough to get alcohol as well. Then the staff just moved the alcohol down to her counter and told us that it's Walmart's policy. Which BOTH of US have to provide the I.D in order to get alcohol. Then my sister told her that then why other customers purchasing tons of alcohols and didn't even check their I.D. Especially they were with children under age as well, then how the hell were you going to sell the alcohol to others but instead of us. Later on, my sister and I were talking in our language and said if her attitude is like that, then we don't bother to purchase any kinds of stuff here as well. Out of nowhere, the staff doesn't even understand our language and shot at us then said if we want to get alcohol, we can just go to the nearest liquid stores to get one. I felt like WTF was her attitude and it's not like we didn't participate with her! Which I felt like, she's harassing us because both of us are Asian. Later on, my sister just doesn't want to make things bigger, so we got our stuff and left. But to point out the things here, I'm extremely disappointed with that staff there. Both my sister and I work in retail stores as well, it's not about alcohol, it's about the customer service and the attitude toward the clients. Shady employee at register . Girlfriend and I went to buy two hoverboards that we found on clearance there was a total of 8 the day before so we go and there's 4 left we get two and head to check out . Well the lady at the register 4 3pm Monday September 6 cancels our transactions twice two separate transactions with out cause . I know she's doing this because she claims the items come up as defective after we already swipe our cards to pay . If we made it that far on the screen it wouldn't cancel because of a defective item it would cancel because the employee manipulated or intentionally canceled my transactions .I can't make this up . So Interesting situation at Wally World today. The bf and I ran by to pick up a few random things. Notecards, fish, plastic bins and cereal. On the cereal aisle we are pensively pondering which sugar loaded foolishness to take home and happen to notice a really weird sight. This little Asian woman is sitting on the floor pulling out a ton of boxes of Apple Jacks off the bottom shelf. As I am watching this Im thinking 'Are Apple Jacks really this serious?' She then stands up and takes a few boxes over to her buggy. I notice that she is opening the boxes and the 'wtf' bubble appears over my head. Now if she had opened only one box of cereal I would not have suspected anything. Im occasionally in cow mode when I go to the grocery store and cant wait for a little snack but she wasnt eating the cereal. She puts an open box back onto the shelf. Huh? I stand there in amazement attempting to explain to myself what is happening. THEN, she does the same with an additional two boxes and as shes walking back to her cart I politely begin a conversation: Me: Um, did you know that youre not allowed to just go around opening cereal boxes and then put them back on the shelf? Entertaining as they may be, if you're easily annoyed by rude degenerates you may want pay the extra 50 cents you were trying to save on a box of Otter Pops, and head to another discount retail store. Although Walmart has the lowest prices they also have a clientele with the least class you will see. I literally heard a guy call his wife/girlfriend the C-word aloud from an aisle away once. Sure...it's easy to hate on Walmart, but even the biggest of anti corporate America advocates I'm sure at least rolled back prices at some point and time. I for one was recently here to make a bulk purchase of an item that Wally World saved me about $70 total when all was said an done. Even though I hate contributing to this local business killer of a corporation, 70 bones is 70 bones. I also couldn't help myself when I noticed one of the greatest movies of all time in the $5 bin, and had to pick up a copy of Tommy Boy. Even though Chris Farely probably spun in his grave at the low low price I got his classic film for, I'm sure if he woulda done the same if he were in my shoes. Prices...yeah their low, but at the cost of employee morale. No one working here is helpful or happy. Woohoo! Magical 180th review! And to class it up : WALMART! May I say that Walmart probably offers the most world-class people watching experience I have ever had? You literally can not step foot in a Walmart without having to whip out your phone camera in a frenzy to capture the amazingness that is the santa look alike wearing a biker jacket with a pink tutu and no shoes. Or something equally awesome. Everyone has had their own Walmart sightings of the truly inspired Americans. But holy mother of god, what is wrong with the pharmacy at this store? Now, I should mention that there is only ONE sole reason I set foot inside this store : they are literally the only ones in San Diego who carry my medication currently. I don't know how this is the case, I can only imagine that they have made some deal with the devil that allows them to stock it and charge me 3x the normal price, but it is what it is. Now I have tried, each time, to minimize my exposure while in the store. Initially, I dropped off my prescription, went somewhere else, and came back at the previously agreed on hour later (really? to pour some pills in a bottle?). I was told it would be ready in... an hour. Fail #1 Second time, I dropped it off the night before, told them I'd pick it up in the morning when they opened. They told me to pick it up an hour after the open. Fine. Whatever. Came back at the agreed upon time, and it was ready an hour later. Ugh. Fail #2. Today may have been the last straw. Except it won't be, because I need my medication and they're the only ones who have it. We came in, dropped off the slip of paper, and went shopping. I was told it would be ready in 45 minutes. That would have been a world speed record for Walmart pharmacy. Walked around, dodged marginally conscious people, accrued way more crap than we needed, and cruised back over to the pharmacy at the previously agreed upon time. After waiting in line for roughly 10 minutes (2 customers ahead of me - they definitely take their sweet time), I was told it wasn't ready. Check back in 5 minutes. Fine. Sat back down and made faces at the cute kid next to me. 5 minutes pass, then I'm told there was an error and I need to talk to the pharmacist, who will come get me in 5 minutes. 15 minutes pass and I go up to scowl at him from the consultation window. He took notice 5 minutes later and came up to basically spit a response of "it's not ready yet why are you bothering me?" at me. Like I was BOTHERING him to DO HIS JOB. FINALLY, an hour and 45 minutes after I dropped off my prescription, it was ready. But would they give me my pills? No. I had to speak to the pharmacist first. About a prescription I've filled here before, and other places for years. Do you know the scene in The Fifth Element with the robot bartender who says "do you want some more?" before squirting booze? Yeah it was like that. Screw it. I'm making a pill robot. It will look like a cross between a roomba and Rosie. It will be faster, less grumpy, and will cost a factor of 5 less than the mean old guy working here. And it will come with a squirt of booze for your wait. read more

I have to admit that I really like this location for Walmart, only location with a decent amount of covered parking. Looks like solar panels above the parking areas. Although, service here isn't really the greatest. One employee I asked for directions in the store didn't seem to know where the item I needed was at, maybe he was new. Walmart has been pulling a scam with your gift receipt returns for years. I just found it out first hand a few days ago. My sister bought a toy for about $30 and gave me a gift receipt. I had some idea what it cost since I checked it out on walmart's website before. When we tried to return it to the store with the gift receipt it was only about $15. I was assured that it was the price that was paid. I was skeptical and tried another Walmart with the same result. I finally got a hold of the original receipt from my sister and it showed she paid $30 for it. Walmart was trying to pocket almost 50% of the money despite their stated of return policy of a full refund on a gift receipt. I did some search on the web and it turns out Walmart has been doing this for years and was actually fined not very long ago. They basically took advantage of people's good manners that they won't inquire a gift's price thus stealing up to half of the money from their customers. I knew Walmart is stingy when paying their workers, I never thought they would stoop so low to blatantly stealing from their customers. I will never shop at Walmart again. read more

Due to the incredibly one sided (and completely irrational, not to mention overly dramatic) argument posted by the previous reviewer, I am forced to enumerate the reasons why I love Walmart: - Walmart is arguably THE best operations company in the world. They even whips their suppliers into shape by reducing waste, increasing efficiency, standardizing packaging and optimizing transport, thereby making the whole world a better place. Target is not even close. - Walmart is fast becoming green - have built super green stores. To be fair, Target is attempting the same, but trailing behind despite starting a green program earlier. - Walmart is incredibly committed to sustainability. Executive pay is directly tied to performance in sustainability metrics. Unlike Target. - Walmart gives generously to charitable causes nationwide and doesn't freakin' use that as marketing gimmick like Target. - Walmart offers low prices and great selection - in my experience, the same name brand household items that I buy are as much as 30% lower in price @ Walmart when compared to Target. - Walmart don't invest in the fru fru frills that makes the store "pretty" but adds nothing to what you end up taking home. - Walmart makes great efforts to address issues raised by the community and by its customers. - As a kid, I would have been doomed to Goodwill fashion had it not been for Walmart. - Target is snooty - it gives me the feeling of a pretty girl who pretend to be sweet, but is really kinda a bitch. The reality is, the world isn't black and white. It's easy to take aim at the guy sitting at the top. And it's easy to be high and mighty about how much better one choice is vs another. If you think Target is without blame, you need to take a harder look. If you take issue with Walmart's labor issues, you should also boycott Amazon.com, where the warehouse workers aren't exactly well treated. Incidentally, having gone to the stores and talked with the managers, I know for a fact that there has been a dramatic shifts in Walmart's corporate policies specifically to address the issues of gender ratios in store management (as well as other labor topics). So, yes, eventhough Walmart has its problems, it does try to solve them. Walmart isn't pretentious, it isn't high brow... you know what it's about, and its success comes from focusing on core values and delivering goods to consumers. More power to you if you rather pay more for the exact same thing... and so be it if you are swayed by gimmicks, marketing or irrational dramatics. Personally, I rather use my logical senses, focus on objective facts, AND save my money for something useful... like an electric or a hydrogen vehicle. read more

I hate to echo all the negative reviews. But, this place deserves it. I came to shop here after a quiet dinner, kick back, stroll and shop. Whomever manages this store needs to go to the Santee and/or Poway stores and figure out why this store provides such a horrible shopping experience compared to those other two nearby stores. First of all, I had a couple of items to return. Which meant I had to work with the "Customer Service" desk. Which is ironic. Because the lady working at the "Customer Service" desk just seemed to not want to be there. She had the worst attitude. The absolute worst attitude. She was snarky and patronizing. Never smiled. Never really said hello. She should be stocking stuff in the back of the store where she doesn't have to deal with people instead of being put in the front of the store at the "Customer SERVICE" desk. Finally, what the hell is it with the bags? I had $49 worth of pillows put on the floor by the cashier unbagged. She said she didn't have room for the pillows at her register and she didn't have bags big enough for the pillows. She even got mad at me for not bringing HER a cart. I snapped back at her that I still have items I'm getting out of the cart and on to the conveyor belt to pay for. So, I continue to get the items out of my cart and as I turn around... The f'n pillows are on the floor near her turn table of bags. Really? Does she really think I want to put my face on a pillow that I saw on the floor of Walmart? Screw that! I enjoy shopping at this Walmart as much as I enjoy shopping at Fashion Valley, Gucci, etc. I think everyone could find it a fun experience if they don't expect it to be a high end shopping experience. And some of the items you get there, you can get anywhere, but usually at about 75% of the cost. Its always nice to save 25% on something I needed anyway.I like that they have covered parking spaces and that the store is so close to the highway. read more

Greatest place on earth! No, I'm not talking about Disneyland, although the thrill of walking through aisles at Walmart exudes similar elation. You never know when you'll find a good deal on something that costs so much more at Vons or Ralphs. Better yet, this location is 24/7! After my workouts at the La Fitness across the parking lot, I occasionally shop here to avoid the Ralph's in the Gaslamp on my way home. Working out has a enough of a disarming affect on me I can tolerate it. Tonight... not so much. A few things really set me off: 1. Why are there so many luxury vehicles parked here? I had an appointment in Kearny Mesa, so I stopped into this Walmart location to do my shopping, and had my coupons with me, as I always do. I found everything that I was looking for, and put it in my cart. When I checked out, I put my coupons on the counter, and the cashier (AJ) informed me that they were only allowed to take one coupon per item. He handed me the extra coupons back, I said, "no problem," and started taking the items out of the bags and put them on the counter for him to deduct from my bill. I took my purchases out to my car, went back in the store and bought rest of the items with my coupons. I'll cross this location off of my list to shop at. read more

I just want to add that Dr. Ho in the vision center is an blathering incompetent who considers it a subjective choice to include the obvious need for bifocal prescription and doesn't include it in my written prescription because MOST PEOPLE don't want it. Gotta love a Doctor who bases his examinations, consultations, and prescriptions on the law of averages. Go to him at your own risk. His associate Dr. Truong seems to have some level competence and apologized for Dr. Ho's OBVIOUS oversight. Dr. Ho did call me at home to let me know of my mistake (Not telling him to make sure my prescription is ACCURATE AND COMPLETE) and that he had no intention of making it right. I purchased a large toy item for my 3 year old daughter for her birthday, now she doesn't like the character. I decided to return the item and was informed my electronic receipt and my paper receipt was not acceptable for a return. I would have to settle for a refund for a store credit which was $30 less than what I originally paid for the item. I spoke to several employees of Walmart which were; Rachael, Thomas, and Danny. All claiming there hands were tied and I must settle for the reduced price. I felt his was very unfair. I proceed to contact the store manager at the original store I purchased the item and he was kind enough to fax the original receipt to the store I was currently at. Of course that still wasn't good enough and after a shift change of employees I was still informed I must take store credit. After over an hour of back and fourth rigmarole I was instructed they'd give my refund, but this was a 1-time courtesy. Really?!? Well why wasn't I given this "courtesy"an hour ago. Please avoid that location at all cost. Just terrible service! You'd think a billion dollar corporation wouldn't have such a problem returning a child's item. Smh...... read more

But this place fails at every stage of my shopping experience! 1- The parking lot is full of impatient people with cars. 2- Just before you can walk into you get hassles by solicitors asking for your money. 3- It's crowded inside. The isles to walk through aren't big enough so you're always having to dodge people of carts from either getting hit or being hit. 4- There's always a long ling to check out. I do like the variety of things you have, but if they're constantly breaking why would I go back here? Your gardening pots are ridiculously overpriced compared to other actual gardening stores. I'm only giving this place 2 stars because it has some of the products I need for a lower price. However, their lack of service and stock of popular products such as: heated blankets (it's 30 degrees in SD...I'm almost certain half of our population has frozen to death without some sort of heating device) is enough to deter me. Everything on their shelves were wiped out (I'm assuming cause that they didn't recover from Black Friday). I said "excuse me" to get an employees' attention about 5 times...and he walked away. I know he heard me, I'm pretty loud and obnoxious. And then when my friend approached another employee, this crazy didn't even speak and pointed to another worker...now, because it's Walmart, I will let this slide and assume that not everyone can speak perfect english. BUT, this next lady who was blond with blue eyes (and I'm not going to be judgmental but snatch, if you're reading this: I know YOU speak english), just shook her head as a form of answering our questions instead of speaking, didn't even make eye contact! Hey, I get it. Walmart doesn't pay it's employees well and yes, it is absolutely unfair to be subjected to this type of work environment but this Walmart should really reevaluate their customer service aspect because it seriously turns away customers.
