I've been to a looooooooooot of Walmarts and I think this is a prime example. Lowe's was just about all sold out of Christmas lights but this store has tons! The entire garden center is converted into a heated space for wrapping paper, Xmas lights, decorations, etc. I came in today and asked for some replacement incandescent bulbs for my old lights and they don't sell them anymore. The nice lady at the checkout counter went to the bulbs, pulled out a new box and showed me the replacement bulbs it came with. She said "are you looking for these"? I said yes and she just handed me the bulbs! She threw the bulbs into the "return" buggy and I went on my Merry way! Very impressed in the customer service today. read more

On 12/16/17 I was shopping at WalMart in Scarborough, Maine. At checkout the very nice (and good looking) young man who rang up and bagged my purchases wished me a Merry Christmas. I think perhaps he took a moment to say that because I had a Santa pin on my coat lapel, and because he was a friendly soul. I wished him the same and then we both burst into a bit of a giggle, because I at that moment I saw his name tag, which read "Mohammed." It was such a sweet and silly little experience. I thought it was so nice that he felt comfortable wishing me a Merry Christmas. It was sweet that we could both laugh at my faux pas in wishing him the same. This little encounter gives me hope that we can all live together in peace. read more

Hair salon inside Wally world in Scarborough: they won't give you a price on color! I walked in the other day and asked what it would cost to do overall color on my hair which is chin length. They all sit there looking at my hair and tell me that color starts at $45 and goes up from there, depending on length. Well they are staring at my hair so they know the length. They refuse to give a price for simple all over color and tell me I have to be in the chair and then they will give me a price. They don't provide prices for walk ins. How many hair places ask you to commit to buying a service without knowing the price ahead of time! Unreal. Steer clear. So, I would need to commit to getting it done and sit in the chair, and then get a price? What if I didn't like the price? Do I get up and walk out? Very manipulative sales practices. Never heard of anything like this before. Go elsewhere, I certainly will. read more

Ordered photos through Walmart.com for one-hour photo. Went to Walmart to pick the photos up 90 minutes after I ordered the photos. Now I have to wait 24 hours for my one-hour photo order. read more

I avoid Wal-Mart whenever possible, but when I need an odd assortment of items it's usually the most efficient place to go. I tend to find whatever it is I am looking for and this time was no different. I needed help finding an item and the first associate I asked knew exactly where to go. I was stunned. I like how late they are open and my one stop shopping. However, I don't like it based on the principle that it's Wal-Mart but I might dislike this one a little less than some of the ones I have been to previously. read more

I love to hate Wal-Mart. I try to shop local, but sometimes it is just extremely convient to get batteries, potting soil, a pizza and video game in one stop. The highlight for me is the eye center. My insurance is accepted here and the prices on frames and prescription lenses are reasonable. I have been told a week for my glasses but generally get them back in a couple of days. There is no pressure for bells and whistles to be added, but I recommend the little extra for anti-glare and scratch. The rest of the store is like any monsterous Wal-Mart. Nice wide aisles that are often crowed with big pallets of merchandise making it so that two people walking in different directions barely squeeze passed each other. The Amy's dairy free frozen is MUCH cheaper here than at any other local market or grocery. The food prices are often inexpensive, however, the produce is generally not up to snuff. I do limit my time here, but one good tip is that when this place is crazy busy and you need just a few items, you can park and enter by the Tire and Lube express, grab the few things you need, then check out at the electronics counter and go back out the Tire and Lube Express entrance. Much easier! Also, they have clothing drop off bins for DARE as well as two large bins for cardboard recycling. read more

Yikes!! As I write this I am still on hold for the Photo Center. This is now up to 40 minutes since the first call. The first call put me through the photo and no one picked up after several minutes, so I was disconnected. I called back again and explained what happened, so they transferred me to electronics next to the photo center. Again no one picked up and it disconnected after several minutes. I called a third time and they put me on hold while the tried. After 16 minutes on hold, the sevice desk came back on said they were transferring me to the manager, because I had been on hold for 16 minutes. I am now up to an additional 18 more minutes waiting for the manager to pick up. This is completely unacceptabe to me and extremely poor customer service. read more

Walmart should be clear if they are or are not affiliated with their pharmacy! I always have used this number to call the pharmacy but today had a lazy person unwilling to transfer my call and a manager telling me "they can't" which is not true! A) the pharmacy is way too long (however with no insurance I save 350.00 per month) which than gets spent on food or junk you do not need! I am willing to spend $350.00 more to perhaps a small pharmacy who can actually go out of their way to transfer a call! read more

i try to avoid shopping at Walmart. but i came here after a long search for a reasonable replacement futon for a friend, as my cat had recently taken a leak on his. i found one here! tracking down staff in the store was only a little bit difficult, and then they came, moved this giant item to the front, and helped me load it in the car. the service was definitely no frills (we had to take it out of the package to fit it in the car and the guy helping didn't try to avoid rubbing it on the ground or crushing stuff in the car). but that's fine, since i don't care and i couldn't have moved it on my own. i haven't been back since, but this location seems like a good place to get larger items that are harder to find at cheaper prices. read more

Walmart Scarborough never fails to disappoint. I went there today to buy fabric so I can make face masks for a local assisted living place. Trying to do the right thing. No one at the fabric place. I get it - remnants only. So there's a sign that says "Remnants." Under that sign are fabrics on bolts, with Bright Orange Stickers that mostly say 4.50 each. Different from other bolts down the line that have stickers that indicate how much per yard. I grabbed one with a Bright Orange Sticker that said 4.50 each, there wasn't much fabric on it, and headed to the check out. It didn't scan, so I asked for help. The manager, Jim, said "nope. It's 4.50/yard, and we're not cutting fabric." I asked him to look at the sign. Long story short, he was supremely unhelpful. Said they must've run out of the other stickers. I would have paid anything he asked, I wanted to make some face masks, but he wasn't interested in that. Very frustrating. I know the lack of my business won't affect Walmart's bottom line, but there was no interest in making me happy or doing the right thing. read more

I live an hour and a half from this location and went there to get a few things and gift cards for Christmas gifts after my husbands doctors appointment. At the register everything was fine except the cashier was having an issue getting the gift cards to active. My husband and I were very patient and understanding. The cashier wanted to do the gift cards separate from our other items which we had no issue with. Well they still wouldn't activate so he called over a CSR and then another CSR came over to tell us cause we had $500 worth of gift cards they needed to be done at customer service. Maybe Walmart should inform the cashiers of this. Then another lady came over not sure what she was cause she didn't have a vest on or if she did it was covered by her sweatshirt. In a condescending tone she literally asked my husband what we were doing with the gift cards. Well this not only set me off but my husband as well. In a not so nice voice I said Christmas gifts and my husband told her none of her f-in business. Then she gave us some BS excuse of making sure we weren't being scammed. At this point my husband told them to keep the items and we headed for the door but I wanted to speak to a manager. When the manager showed up with back up mind you started in and he just stood there with a condescending look on his face. He didn't even offer to fix the situation but then again we are talking about a corporation that doesn't give a crap about the customer. He said he'd talk to the rude lady but knowing Walmart nothing will be done. So to those buying gift cards this holiday don't buy them at Walmart. read more

I have shopped at a lot of Wal-Marts, this one seems to have an upper management problem like they are in just a bit over their heads. These problems can be seen in how the floor workers engage with challenges, clearly going up the chain of command is not the solution in this store, glad I don't work there, and sorry when I have to shop there. read more

I do not like Walmart in Scarborough, the workers were rude to me and everything was so unorganized! On the online website they had items listed in store at this location that were not in the store. The bathrooms are always messy. The hot food sits out longer than it should before being replaced. There was a time I tried to cash a money order and they gave me a ton of trouble all because the person who sent it was from Tennessee which was completely irrelevant, they ended up letting me cash it after about an hour. However, the greeters are very kind. There was also an employee named Jonelle and she was kind to me as well. read more

Best produce department around! Above average staff. Friendly and helpful. THEY make shopping in Scarborough a pleasure. Its said Walmart saves the average American family 1200 or more a year...I believe it. We realize savings of 15-30 percent all the time! Exceptions: I don't do solution meat and of course avoid the occasional item that may be of lesser quality, (which you do anywhere) but overall you can't beat the retail king. No gimmicks. Always low prices. Can't really complain about community involvement too much, as a related foundation can pump 100s of millions back into needy communities. Think most folks want and NEED a break these days. I do understand those who demand their providers stay true to a greater cause or mission and prefer stuff sold at those expensive grocery stores, but can your average Joe and Jane REALLY afford blowing their Whole Check on a bag or two of items? Forget it. I can get the ingredients at Wally World and for the most part have full control in putting together wholesome meals for our family. The other guys aren't exactly squeaky clean either. Just saw OSHA nailed Whole Foods for firing a worker who blew the whistle on its labor violations!! Wally workers SAY they're happy with working conditions, but I don't know enough about how WalMart helps/hurt our environment. Be sure to try the chicken wings! read more
