Fast, friendly, honest, and affordable. My engagement ring and jacket were purchased separately, and it showed. I wanted to have them soldered and lined up evenly and flush so they looked like one ring. I went to several different jewelers and none of them could do it. Then I found Walt's Jewelers. The tech (don't know appropriate tittle?) took one look at it and knew what I was trying to do. I told them my insurance was covering the cost so they could have charged me any amount. They still completed the job at a very reasonable cost and very fast. Two days later I had my "new" ring. I haven't been able to take my eyes off of it! I am so happy I found this jeweler! I have a very unique setting for my engagement ring and the main stone was loose. A year and a half later, and the re-repairs done by Jewelry Repair (NW corner of Power and Main) are holding up just fine. The owner (a real jeweler) took all three bezels apart and welded them back together, while Walt's only soldered them - no wonder two of the joints broke. According to my new jeweler, that's how the schools teach now, but this guy is old-school and was disgusted with Walt's shoddy work. While writing this, I noticed another woman who experienced the same problem with her custom engagement ring she had resized at Walt's. So, who are YOU going to believe? In his reply to my review, Javier said I bought the ring at "an event." That is an outright lie; as I stated in my original review, I bought it from a very reputable artisan jeweler at his store in downtown Farmington, ME. This was a handmade piece of custom jewelry in solid 14K gold, not some cheap piece of junk with gold plating. On top of everything else, Jewelry Repair charged me only $50 to WELD all six joints, while Walt's expected me to pay another $78 to resolder only one. Jewelry Repair did not have to remake the ring as Javier suggested. All he did was take pride in the quality of his work, and it shows; all six welds are holding up to the gardening, construction, and renovations I have been working on since the repair 18 months ago. read more

I am extremely disappointed with Walt's Jewelers. I had several of my mother's items repaired there and one the items repaired was a watch. We had the crystal replaced and paid the $50.00 for the repair. We brought the watch home and noticed that the crystal had cracked. They told me that we must have cracked it at home and refused to even give us a discount to redo the watch. I told her that my mom did not even wear it yet but she insisted that it was done by us. They refused to even discount replacing it. I am truly believe that the crystal was not put on the watch correctly and that is what caused the crack at the edge of the dial. I used Walt's Jewelers for some jewelry repairs, I was impressed as to how each sales associate knew the construction of jewelry! Nothing I put in front of them was not repairable! (Thanks to a laser welder) All repairs are done on premises (except for watch repair). Like I said, "Yelp" is usually for complainers and Bashers, but I am trying to turn that around!
