    Ube ice cream

We gave the ube ice cream a try and I really love it. It reminded me of taro. Not sure if that is the same family but nevertheless it was very creamy. The sweetness is not overbearing which I liked a lot. Would definitely give this a place to go again when I'm back in the town.

If you like funky flavored, look no further. This place has everything. - You like Ube? Boom, they have regular and vegan Ube. Some times they even have a third Ube Tai Tea flavor - want to feel like a child again? Here you go, Kinder (after the German chocolate bars) - Other honorable mentions: mango sticky rice, Abuelita (Mexican hot cocoa), lychee, and more

The rainy weather mixed with sunshine in Seattle is making me think about these fancy "Escape Bars" from WANDERLUST CREAMERY that I tried during my last visit to SMORGASBURG in Los Angeles a few weeks ago while I was in town for a quick visit. For $7 a pop, these bars were decadent, creamy, and come in interesting exotic flavors. I still prefer their outstanding scoops that I've had many times in their stores. However, these bars are a fun option to change things up. I tried their Japanese Neapolitan and my friend Steph tried their Passionfruit Cacao. Both were packed with their unique flavors and had a nice crunch from their individual chunky toppings. Try it! I think you'll like it.

I've wanted to try their Venice location for a while but never have for one reason or another. Nonetheless, I was finally able to try Wanderlust Creamery at ROWDTLA. I came near closing time, so it's no surprise they were already out of Ube cones *tear*. I ordered two scoops of ice cream - one ube and one Japanese matcha with sesame (I believe?). I really enjoyed both flavors, especially the ube. Next time I'll be sure to come early to have it in the ube cone!

More curated selection of flavors at their Smorgasburg booth. Go to one of their storefronts to get the full selection of unique flavors. Today their Sakura ice cream bar dipped in matcha chocolate was one of the offerings. I tasted more strawberry than cherry blossom in the ice cream but this was a wonderful marriage of flavors and textures.

The ice cream at Wanderlust is so good! I love their unique flavors that pay homage to different cultures and countries. Some of my favorites are the Ube Malted Crunch and the Japanese Neopolitan. The flavors really shine, and the ice cream base itself is super creamy.

Have wonderful ice cream at wanderlust creamery ! They opened order online, and the Jasmine Sea salt Boba flavor was sold out in five minutes. Luckily, my #foodie buddy got me a quart of it. Surprised that the #gelato have green color, maybe that color come from #matcha . The taste of the ice cream is more likely Earl Grey tea more than Jasmine tea. The boba is very chewy and it's not turn hard when it's frozen. I guess the boba was made similar as #mochi then it has good texture even in frozen ice cream.

Wanderlust Creamery is Inspired by travel, I'm already loving everything about the company! Wanderlust, means a strong desire to travel which I suffer from. In this case it is an ice cream parlor that has numerous creative signature and seasonal flavors. Since I was at Smorgasburg, I thought perfect time to try their ice cream as it was also pretty warm outside. Who doesn't fancy ice cream--it's perfect all year round and yes, even in the cold/winter! They had a few flavors at the event in particular and I decided to go with all three vegan flavors. The flavors were fire+blood, apple wasabi sorbet, and sticky rice+mango. I know what you're thinking...Serrano peppers, ginger and wasabi--what was I thinking? It doesn't sound very appetizing but It was actually really good. It's not that spicy honest (just a hint of spice) and all flavors complimenting one another. I absolutely love ginger and was happy to try it ice cream form. It was refreshing and quite the treat on this one sweet day! 3 flavors: Fire+blood--spicy sorbet made of dragon fruit, blood orange, and Serrano pepper. Apple wasabi--green apple, ginger, and wasabi. Sticky rice+ Mango--housemade rice milk, coconut cream, and swirls of mango purée. "Wherever you travel to it becomes apart of you somehow!" -Anita Desai

Ice cream inspired by cultures all around the world! Who could resist this?! Ube Malted Crunch, Japanese Neapolitan, & more. Also, the time that I went, they had 3 Game of Thrones inspired flavors! Sticky Rice & Mango: Their most popular flavor. Their ice cream definitely had the texture of grounded up rice. It tasted exactly like grounded up sticky rice & mango, it was nuts! But, sad to say, I would try to get a different flavor because although I am a huge fan of the dessert, I think their other flavors could have been better.

Japanese neopolitan: matcha, black sesame, and hojicha
    Amy L.

My friend raved out about this place and fortunately we were able to check it out at Smorgasburg LA. Japanese neopolitan: matcha, black sesame, and hojicha. I would say their matcha is the best matcha ice cream I've had by far. The matcha flavor was not overly strong nor sweetened and there wasn't a milky aftertaste. The black sesame flavor was bold enough to stand out on its own even when swirled with the two other flavors. To be quite honest, I don't even think there was hojicha in my scoop since I couldn't taste it. I definitely want to check out their store and taste the other flavors they have!

Tried their ube malted crunch at Smorgasburg. It was a little underwhelming in terms of ube flavor. I thought it was an interesting combo to pair malted balls with ube but the ube flavor was a little muted and possibly overpowered. It was quite pricey too.

STICKY RICE + MANGO & UBE MALTED CRUNCH $7 & Ube Cone ($1)
    Tu-Anh N.

Went to check out Smorgasbord on a rainy Sunday right when they open: 10am. My friend saw Wanderlust and immediately suggested ice cream because he had heard of it and wanted to try it. I was down! Here's what we shared: DOUBLE SCOOP - $7 STICKY RICE + MANGO Housemase rice milk and coconut cream. Alphonso Mango swirl. Vegan and diary free. I would have never guessed this to be vegan! It tastes creamy with the right amount of sweetness! It was full of flavor and definitely tasted like sticky rice and mango! I recommend this! So good! UBE MALTED CRUNCH Malted Milk + Sweet Purple Yam. Crunchy malted milk pieces. This subtly sweet scoop was delicious. I enjoyed the crunchy milk pieces too--they were sweet which gave the ice cream a nice balance of texture and sweetness! The guy working the kiosk offered to decorate our bowl with an UBE CONE on top for $1 and that really made the overall presentation lovely! The cone definitely had the ube taste and it was pretty good. I forgot his name but he was really cool and nice to us! I really hope to come back to try the other flavors :) I love this place!

Here's a helpful tip: The bank next door allows 10 minutes of parking if you use their ATM and keep your receipt. There is security in the lot, so be sure to have your receipt as proof of the time. It's more than enough time to run next door and grab your treats. I ordered a slice of the lemon loaf, a gluten-free cookie, and the classic chocolate chip cookie. The lemon loaf slice is huge, I'd say it's the equivalent of two slices, so it's definitely big enough to share. As for the cookies, Levain is known for making them thick and rich. A small piece goes a long way, making them perfect for savoring over a couple of days (if you have that much self-control!). The moment you walk inside, you're greeted by the incredible aroma of freshly baked pastries, and the service was warm and welcoming. I truly think everyone should experience a Levain cookie or pastry at least once. It's worth the visit!

The peach shaped and was forgettable Pros: - The cakes are very very cute and amazing to look at - Shop inside had a few tables. It seemed like most were just couples or a few friends sharing - Kiosk ordering do no need for human interaction if you don't want it Cons: - I really hated that the flavors did not match up to the cake shapes. I think I liked the lemon shaped one the best because it has the most citrusy passionfruit flavor. But when I break into the mango shaped cake, I expect a strong mango flavor. If the flavors were not going to match, I would've much rather like it if the cakes were in different shapes like a cute cartoonish animal, or smiley face, or a daisy. Some shape that I wouldn't associate with flavor - I also wasn't a huge fan of the flavor combos. I feel like they were really trying to go out there but often times the fruit flavors used didn't really match up with the tea or nut flavors. The flavors were not balanced at all, often just very muddled with one flavor either being too strong or not strong enough, or interfering with a fruits flavor. Some of the cakes were floral tasting from tea or almost slightly savory. The cakes are not sweet at all. Maybe I was just unlucky and tried the worst flavors. Again the lemon shaped one was the best because passionfruit flavor was sharp enough to cut through the other flavors - Parking is street and can be hit or miss - Expensive - I ordered a drink and I don't see it on the menu, or I just can't remember it. That's how different it was. I do remember thinking it was so sweet Would I go again? Absolutely not
