If you are a person who loves quick easy and tasty this is the place for you. These guys know how to please there crowd they spend no time on platting there dishes and all the time on how they taste. Totally disappointing in every way. The uber-tattooed server tried to talk us out of returning the $19 pitcher of TERRIBLE "Mojitos" (NOT mojitos, be aware) by explaining that it had 5 shots and soda water. NO SHIT, SIR! THAT'S WHY IT'S GOING BACK!!! first of all, 5 shots for a 5 pint pitcher? And SODA WATER? But wait.... He leaves to get us margaritas (which were standard crap margs), but he didn't take the pitcher. We poured our drinks back into the pitcher and when he returned he asks "You didn't pour your drinks back in, did you?" and we said "yes, why?" and he said "BECAUSE I COULD HAVE REUSED IT" And what we should have said was "SON, WE HAVE WORKED IN RESTAURANTS ALL OVER BOULDER, IN NO CASE WHATSOEVER DO YOU REUSE ANYTHING THAT HAS EVER LEFT THE BAR OR THE KITCHEN. I'm reposting this because it was removed, but I feel like I need to warn future patrons. We originally posted this on 7/7/2013. I'm sorry folks, but this is the WORST mexican restaurant in Boulder. I had the most pathetic margarita ever. When I asked "where's the tequila?" I was told it was from a "mix" in which 4 bottles of tequila was added. Pretty much tasted like limeade with salt. As far as the food, the queso fundido tasted like velveeta with ground hamburger. GROSS!!! The salsa tasted like it came from a jar. We decided not to risk dinner. Wapos is an enigma. First off, it's a tiny bit off the beaten path. Second - the ambiance is terrible. It feels more like a dive bar than a restaurant. But here's the deal: the food is AMAZING. It's affordable. It's fresh. And it's unique (try the crispy relleno). The owner Juan is super friendly and more than willing to help me practice my Spanish if it's not busy. So: get over the fact it's not a pretty building. The food is great and the people are even better. Last thought: go for the crispy relleno and some Carnitas tacos along side a top shelf margarita. The food is mediocre at best and is extremely expensive. Service is horrible. No water refills the whole 45 minutes I was here and also no soda refills. Small portions and high prices. Low quality meat. Asked for refills multiple times and waiterr never came back. $80 for 2 adults and 2 kids meals. No alcohol. GTFO. This place is much better than Si Senor, which was okay, but predictable. This seems much fresher, and they are very willing to tailor the dish to dietary restrictions. First time I had the chili Con Queso - very good, and the fish tacos, also very good. Second time the crunchy chile relleno, which was good, but did not seem homemade. The portions are perfectly sized, and priced accordingly. You don't have to share the dish in order not to overeat, or leave half of it. No huge portions drowned in sauce and heaped with rice and beans. I think the 1 relleno with rice and beans was $6.50. Very reasonable. With drink, tax and tip, I think I got out for about $11. I visited Wapos yesterday while visiting Boulder. While sitting in the car for nearly 4 hours on our way back from the mountains, my boyfriend and I were starving and Mexican was the only cure. We found Wapos on Yelp and it did not disappoint. We started with the skinny margaritas on special for Sunday happy hour - at about $6.50 each if I'm remembering correctly - and then had queso, I had the pregnant burrito with a crispy relleno and he had the burrito supreme. Everything we had was delicious - Wapos is truly a hidden gem. Despite other reviews, I found the atmosphere of the restaurant charming and perfectly fitting for authentic Mexican. We had weekday lunch as a large group and the experience was great! They have a large outdoor space with heaters for a cool autumn day. The chips and salsa were delicioso with a perfect level of heat (although others felt it was too hot). The margaritas were strong, but just right in my book. I got the dos flautas which were tasty, and there's tons on the menu. There's also a little play area for kids that looked cute. Went there on Friday . Waited 45min to be seated at the bar. It was very busy. I was served chips and salsa. I did not like the salsa(it tasted like and had the consistency of a runny paste) Waited 20min to order a beer. Another 15min to order food. I ordered the Chicken chimichanga. I think they forgot to deep fry it.( I had waited so long I had to take my order to go.) I will try to give them the benefit of the doubt. Another guest said that the owner was a nice man. Unfortunately the owner(s) weren't there to help with my first impression of the place. The chimichanga was very soft almost like dough. If I were ever to go back, I would not go on a Friday and I wouldn't order a chimi again. Oh yeah I wasn't impressed with the bartender either. Very sloppy and dosen't no how to shake a drink. Wapos is much better than Si Senor and thank lordy they finally have their liquor license! The decor inside is a little hurtin'- but we will see what the summer brings! I've been here many times under many different owners through the years. I can honestly say I don't remember the food being this good since it was Delfino's Terrace way back in the day. Fresh food, large portions, free chips with a salsa that has a good bite, great flavor and isn't crazy hot. I've tried just about every Mexican restaurant in town and this is definitely one of the best. The service is friendly and efficient too. My lady and are greeted warmly every time we come in, no matter who's there. I usually go for the crispy rellenos, but the enchiladas ( they have many types) have always been a hit. Great desserts too. I love the sopapillas, my lady swears the flan is the best she's ever had. If you really want to treat yourself go for the fried ice cream. Decadent heaven!! read more

Very solid Mexican food, definitely better than Si Senior that used to be in the same location. My husband had the beef enchiladas, which were quite tasty. I had the D.F. tacos on the recommendation of the waiter and they were delicious. Small portions of steak cooked with bacon and mushrooms, very flavorful, on four small corn tortillas with a side of guacamole. Portions are very manageable, no giant platters oozing with yellow grease here. The house margaritas were on the weak side but also large, so by the end of them we were both feeling plenty mellow.
