It's closeby and their soup selection is very strong. Salad bar is deep and well priced. And most days they have tater tots. Recommended.

However, they have a great salad bar, a separate and equally great soup bar, and most importantly, some awesome breakfast items.

The prices are reasonable, the workers seemed efficient but I was struggling with a wheelchair, a tray, and a bag and no one offered to assist and many many tables were taken up by one person with their stuff spread out on the other chairs. Many tables don't seem wheelchair accessible. I finally asked someone if we could share a table and they got up and left. I had french onion soup my companion had chicken gumbo, we asked for a half portion and it was too much food. Maybe we went there on an off day at a very busy time. When I had mentioned toa visitor in the elevator we heard the food was quite good they looked and said, no really, even for cafeteria food. Maybe none of us were hungry enough to give it more stars.

They offer very affordable meal deals (food + soft drink or coffee) for everyone and the cafeteria staff are always super friendly. I'd like to see more meat included in the meal deals, not just being the vegetarian version of what we actually want. But still as far as hospital food goes, Harborview does a standout job.

Key Points: - Iconic khachapuri "bread boats"…read more- minor drawback: limited coffee customization options and only forks available The Fam and I stopped by Skalka for some breakfast/brunch before perusing the rest of Seattle during my birthday week. I saw it on a few YouTube food influencer videos and was really impressed by what I saw. The their staple is their Georgian khachapuri. They're the iconic bread "boats" filled with cheese, butter, egg, and whatever comes along the variety you ordered. TBH, I actually thought they looked like little volcanoes, which is something I figured The Little One would enjoy. What we ordered: - Stroganoff: one of the popular items listed on the yelp page. The beef was rich, succulent and comforting, with a creamy, savory filling. The pickles added a bit of bright, tangy contrast to balance the richness. - Adjaruli, the classic version with cheese, butter, and egg. To me, this seemed like the plainest version, but I figured The little One would be more likely eat this because she hates anything that resembles a sauce or toppings. Both dishes were fantastic. The bread boat sort of reminded me of a pizza crust: crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside, and perfect for tearing off and dipping into the cheesy center. The Little one did especially like the crust since she's a big pizza-crust fan. Surprisingly, getting her to eat the cheese and egg was tougher, as she usually likes those. I guess that's just being a kid? Inconsistent fluctuations of opinions and likings? The Mrs. and I happily finished everything she left behind. The restaurant itself is a small, casual spot with self-service kiosks for ordering and open seating. Nothing fancy, but it's efficient. We also appreciated that they had high chairs available, making it easy to visit with a child. We did see other families with kids there too. My only gripes: - once you've submitted your kiosk order, making changes isn't really possible. The staff is so busy going in and out of the kitchen, that you really don't have any opportunity to flag them down. We actually wanted to make one minor change to our order, but by the time I managed to talk to someone about it, she informed me that the order was already being made. - If you order coffee, you need to decide on cream, half-and-half, and sugar ahead of time, seemingly preset amounts. It's entirely prepared in the kitchen, not self serve, and you can't exactly customize to your liking. - Only forks were available. No spoons, no knives. Knives would have been helpful for cutting through the thicker bread crust. Those are very minor complaints, though. The food was excellent, the concept is unique, and the meal was memorable. Won't dock any points off there.

I had ordered and beeped my card only to find out 10-15mins later that my order didn't go through and I had to reorder. It wasn't necessarily anyone's fault, but if you order with a person this doesn't happen. Toilet is broken in restroom. But the FOOD! Was amazing. They serve only one type of dish, which is like a bread boat with cheese inside and or other filling. I got the one with spinach and cheese - it is enough for 2 ppl but I finished it on my own as a very hungry pregnant lady. We also got 2 more to go - one with beans and bacon (Lobiani) and the other with beef stroganoff. Both were delicious, although the beans & bacon one has a bit of spice. I would 100% recommend eating in person though, because everything is perfect and melty when it's fresh.

On my visit, however, one of the actual dishes did not quite match the description and the descriptions of some parts of both dishes were misleading or not easily understandable. The chef/teacher of Square One is a prima donna and very defensive to any criticism or suggestions; he seems to be hostile toward diners. It's a shame, because that affects the dining experience for customers and must be difficult for the students he presumably oversees.. Still, if you are OK with not knowing if the dish will match the menu description *exactly* (or you make sure to check right before you order), you can get gourmet, creative, interesting lunches for less than they would be anywhere else. There may even be a dessert available, like the very good creme brulee. The waitstaff doesn't seem to be very familiar with the menu, so they may make multiple trips to check with the kitchen if you make inquiries. Be proactive to check that you have everything you need at each step--the person bringing the plate may not have checked whether you need utensils, water may be filled randomly by a different person, etc. They are sweet and earnest, though, so be patient with them.

The Cluck Chub 5/5 Let me start off by saying that this sandwich is absolutely massive and messy but also one of my favorite chicken sandwiches I've ever had. The patty was juicy and well-seasoned without being too salty. The other toppings like the bacon jam, bacon, lettuce, cheeses, etc complemented the sandwich well without overpowering anything. The grits were one of my favorites-- I can't seem to find lots of grits places in Seattle. With all of that being said, I will warn you that this sandwich is extremely messy so be prepared to clean up! Overall, the ambiance, food, and service was all very good but I will have to ding a star for the price. This sandwich was about $20 before tip which IMO is a bit on the pricy side for breakfast/lunch even in Seattle. I would probably still come back though :)
