As a transplant from California I'm constantly craving ethnic food. The other day I was craving Mongolian so I searched and found this place. The value is awesome! For 8.95 I got to fill my bowl with meat, veggies and noodles and I got rice and sesame bread. The downside, the bowls are quite a bit smaller than the Mongolian places I'm used to in Los Angeles, the veggies aren't very fresh looking, the sauces are really watered down, and the lady at the front wasn't very friendly. All things considered, I would come back here when the craving strikes, but I'm going to keep searching for a better Mongolian grill. read more

It's heard to rate a place like this based on flavor, since you make your own food, but all of the ingredients tasted great. Service is great, they put up with me eating 3 large plates, then finally gave me a check and cookies, and they weren't rude about me eating a lot, most places kinda start getting rude and ask you to leave. Stopped in for lunch place was busy but it was not crowded pricing was interesting and appealing. Quality of the food was good lots of choices to make you dish the way you want it. I hadn't been since the pandemic so I met a girlfriend and her toddler there. She asked the older waitress a couple of questions and she was very rude and repeated that it's a buffet! My girlfriend asked about appetizers and the waitress yelled "Soup!" I'd asked my girlfriend if she'd ever been to a Mongolian style bbq before and I explained the first time I went to one in Okinawa was much better but the ones in U.S. are still tasty. She followed my lead and I used one bowl for veggies and the other for thinly sliced, frozen meats. I was surprised there were no shrimp. There was chicken (dark separated from white) then beef and pork. At the end you have the Mongolian sauce, oyster sauce, wine, lemon water, sugar water and more. I put mine over the meat but my girlfriend was smart enough to season both bowls...the one's she used for meats and the other she used for veggies. She also prepared a separate plate for her toddler. I assured her she couldn't take anything to go but she asked the waitress to be certain and of course you must eat everything there or leave it. Both dinners were tasty and I like that we could choose the amount of noodles, veggies, meat and seasonings as usual but it looks very sparse...almost as if the cupboards are bare. It wasn't an attractive place to eat and the older waitress was rude again when I wanted to share my hot tea with my girlfriend. The tea comes in a small pot for $2.75 or something like that and she said if we got another cup or if my girlfriend wanted any of my tea she'd charge us another $2.75 and she grabbed our ticket from the table. I told her we wouldn't share the tea because I felt like leaving there as soon as possible. Later I asked a younger waitress if I could get my water to go and she was nicer but the entire experience would've been a bad one if I hadn't been so happy to see my new friend and her little son. We ended up sharing her son's plate since they don't allow doggie bags. I'd alter the seasonings if I returned. I'd use more Mongolian sauce and oyster sauce than recommended. We enjoyed the flavors so much that I went across the parking lot to Noodle Man the following day. I'll post a review for that one since I took a picture of theirs. I'd still recommend tasting any Mongolian BBQ that you can. I may return one day but I'm not as excited about the place as I once was. read more

I love this place . I love putting together my own stir fry together . A good variety of veggies and frozen shaved meat. Mix and match anything you want. But the best part is combining your own sauce. I don't like most Asian restaurants because the sauce tastes the same and is usually full of sugar. The only thing I want sugar in is my dessert. It comes with a salad, rice, soup and some kind of sesame bread . I've never had a bad experience there . . read more

Been going here for a lot of years but the place really went down hill fast. Quality in the food isn't the best and cleanliness isn't there. Food bar was nasty and hadn't been wiped off the whole time I was in the place. We went in for lunch thinking it's cheaper like before and the owner couldn't make her mind up how much I had to pay. One place walking in the front door says 9.00, next to the food bar it's 7.95 for one bowl. And we were charged 11.00 each for lunch. Soup was cold and bread wasn't cooked the same day. We just left Warriors Jan 26th 5:00. I was so disappointed, this was my First Visit. I had to get up twice to ask for Napkins and Lemons after requesting them. The Waitress sat us I asked her for Lemon with my Tea, she brought the Tea no Lemon, I got up and asked her( they were enjoying Cake) and said we need some Napkins also, she brought the Lemons no Napkins..... is it that difficult? My wife and I wanted to try a new place, so we gave Warriors a try. We started with a bowl of soup, was warm not hot. We did like the bread. The main course of picking your toppings and meats is a great idea. However, the meats are shaved so thin they have no flavor and they all taste the same. I've been a patron of this place for years. Throwing it back to my Best Buy days I would extend my 30 minute allotted lunch breaks to an hour and crush their buffet line. Back in '03 and '04 it was all you can eat for $6.95. I would just go on a tear there. Now it's one price for a single trip and a separate price for multiple trips. If you eat Mongolian grilled food like I do then you've learned to stack your castle so you can get as much food as possible in the bowl. Tomatoes make up a great wall. When the meats aren't frozen...well then you're in for a food coma at one heck of a deal. It's been at least five years since I've been to this particular location. Like the other location I used to do my "let me tell you that I'm a financial advisor" presentations often with groups of 10+ people a few times a week and the owner would comp my take out meal. I rolled in there today with a good friend lunch. You know the drill - vegetables, meat, sauces, tip the guy walking circles around the wok and eat away. What was cool was that the guy making my food recognized me after all these years I've been away. Why the 3 star review? Well my friend loaded up on salad and soup and wasn't able to take but a few bites out of his meal. He asked for a to go box and the staff rudely told him that no take outs are available. Sure, there was a sign up saying it but the waitress just walked abruptly away when she was done explaining their rules. How rude... Plus the waiter serving us seemed to not know what the hell he was doing. If two people at a table both order hot and sour soup and a glass of water why the puzzled look on your face when bringing the soup and water to the table? I love a good Mongolian grill! I love being able to choose my ingredients and how much I put into my meal. Warriors Grill has all the ingredient options that I love, so I enjoyed making up my meal here. We came at a busy time, but they kept everything well-stocked. They never seemed to run out of anything. The service wasn't too great. I know it was busy, but none of the people who came to our table or served us were particularly friendly or polite. But the food was definitely good. I wouldn't choose this as my go-to place for Mongolian, but I would still definitely come back. read more

Bwahahaha, I enjoyed reading the other reviews for this place. We went here for my mother's birthday because Filipinos are infamous for going to chinese buffets for such events. You get soup, the "buffet", and cookies! Haha. For $10.50 - I don't know how that is NOT a great deal. I liked it a lot! I've never been to a Mongolian joint, and I'll definitely be checking them out more often. It IS quick, casual, and not the most cozy/intimate place to eat, but the food is great. I tried everything. My favorite part was the sauces. All of those sauces is what I use in all of my Asian recipes, so it was fantastic having them at my disposal. :) read more

Warrior's Grill is so delicious, and so well priced! I am a big fan of their selections for the dinner menu. I would enjoy eating here on a regular basis (you make your own flavors, so variety is not an issue). I think the best aspect of dinner here is, firstly, how fresh all the ingredients are (the meat is frozen/thin sliced, but that's actually a great way to keep it super fresh and ensure it gets cooked properly without drying out or burning), and secondly getting to season your food the way you want to, then getting to watch it be cooked right before your eyes! Plus, they offer lamb, my absolute favorite meat, and since it's a set price I can have a huge bowl of it. You can also avoid gluten/some carbs, and skip the noodles! This is very close to pretty much the only way to eat Paleo (aside from insanely overpriced high end restaurants), because you can fill up on meat and veggies until you're full, if you want to. There is also a rare kind of bread (sesame bread), that I haven't seen at any other type of restaurant, plenty of rice, and noodles, for carb lovers. I will say, I did not find the hot and sour soup they offered at the start to the meal to my taste at all--but the cookies they brought over at the end of the meal were fantastic. I've never had such a good 'free dessert' provided at a casual restaurant before. They are soft and buttery, not the usual store-bought crunchy/dry kind, and almost seem home baked. Much better than bits of candy with the bill. The only reasons I cannot give five stars (although it's close), is due to a few technical drawbacks. Firstly, there is an unspoken rule about tipping the cooks, because they don't do their work behind a wall (and then of course tipping at the end of the bill too). That's not a problem, unless you need to go up more than once or twice (at that point, the 'set price' will start increasing quite a bit, with the premium of tips added on)... which, unless you are very skilled at filling the child-sized ingredients bowls, is something you will end up having to do. My biggest issue is with the size of the bowls provided for filling with raw ingredients (keeping in mind that everything shrinks down, a lot). It's very messy, and so unwieldy to stuff everything (plus your watery sauces) into such a small receptacle, and sometimes even to reach certain items which are crammed further back... that they actually provide dry tissues at the end so that people can wipe the raw meat juices off their hands, from the process. Not to mention how their short meat tongs often end up totally buried in said (raw) meat. I sanitize my hands a lot after touching them, even though I don't eat with my hands afterwards. I dislike their lighting fixtures intensely, because the cheap dusty linens they use to cover up the light bulbs do not strike me as appropriate for an open-cook venue. And, while this is not really a big deal to me-- it bears keeping in mind that your food will always be influenced by whatever the person in front of you had cooked. I love all their seasonings, and the spicier the better, but it's a little like playing the lotto in that eventually you'll lose the toss up and have something a little off with your chosen flavors (I, for example, am sure eventually I'll get a plate of sweet food, although I would never use the sugar water personally). At least I can make my food to my desired spice level as I like it, though I apologize to those after me. They do clean the grill in between people, but not between each and every single person--more like when there's a small break in the line. It helps everything move through speedily, but the flavors still mingle to a small degree. read more

This location was in standard rotation for lunch during my time in Chesapeake. The service is done in a very particular way and you have to know that you need to do things in a certain order... but the food is good and prepared in front of you very fast. Most importantly it can be as healthy as you want it to be. OK so the order... 1. Smile and say hello to the host or hostess and tell them how many in the party. 2. Go to the table but o not bother to sit down as there will be a member of the waitstaff there waiting for you. 3. Let them know what kinda of drink you would like and if you would like soup or not. Egg Drop is pretty good. 4. Head to the line for food. 5. Remember to bring a dollar or two so you can tip the chef. 6.Return to your table where your soup and drink will be waiting. "The Good" - The staff is great, polite and attentive. - Aside from the obvious of the BBQ itself... the sides of the sesame rolls/sticks or whatever they are are amazing. If you get one that is a little hollow inside, try pouring some soy sauce inside. - The lunch buffet and the dinner with the other "special" ingredients. - Free Rice, should you choose to go all veg instead of noodles. - Insane amount of veg and sauces that you can flavor to your hearts content. - Sweet Tea. "The Meh" - Fight the power and do not abide by the order that is laid out in front of you. Just because the noodles are first, does not mean that you should fill up on them... they take up a lot of room in that little bowl. If there is no line try getting the meat first and then infilling the rest with veg. "The Bad" - Nothing really bad to comment on. read more

Typical Mongolian grille fair. I love their egg drop soup I would come here just for that. Super friendly staff even the cooks. I always ask for the grille to be cleaned before they cook my food I have ginger allergy and don't like when the spicy chili oil makes my bland palette ignite! They never have an issue with my request and of course I leave them a nice tip in the tip jar for honoring my request. We eat here about once every couple months and will keep coming back. read more

My aunts and uncles are notorious for voting for a Chinese buffet as our post church lunch ritual... that... or Golden Coral, in which we generally don't choose the latter. So my cousins & I teamed up and convinced the family to do Mongolian. "Is it a buffet?" They ask. Well, yes... and it's the closest we'll get to "Chinese" (correct me if I am historically wrong). We walked in on a Sunday early afternoon and it was pretty busy, which is expected during Sunday lunch. The owner/manager kindly told us it will be a wait before he can put tables together to accommodate a party of 11. We waited about 10 minutes, which was tolerable because Asian families do not like to wait a long time for food lol. The service was great, but I wouldn't exactly describe the waitress as "nice." Some reviewers have commented on the rudeness of some servers and in their defense, it's just sometimes a language barrier. English is not their first language and therefore, tone and pragmatics is perceived differently so I wouldn't take their demeanor personally. Although noodles isn't my go to meal of choice I enjoyed the customization process! The rule is one bowl per visit, but when I saw my dad in the line he had two bowls one for noodles and the other for all the veggies & meats. I don't think they permit this, but I don't think they reject it either lol. Anyways, for mine I did light chicken & crab meat (imitation) and heaps of veggies (mushrooms, broccoli, onions, carrots, and omg zucchini). I def packed the heat with a concoction of chili sauce, Mongolian special sauce, garlic, and other various sauces. The egg drop soup & sesame bread complemented my main meal very nicely! If you take the sesame bread and open it so that it has a dip you can pour the soup in... think of it like a soup filled sesame bread pocket lol. It beats just dunking the bread into the soup. Thanks for the tip Lisa! So for the affordable price of like $10 you get full as it includes a mini salad bar, soup, and unlimited sesame bread, your noodles, and a plate of macadamia nut and chocolate chip mini cookies to finish off. I also ordered a hot green tea and I looked inside the pot and much to my surprise it was a loose leaf tea! Overall, a great experience! I have been here a few times before but had a couple years hiatus but I will now keep this place in mind! My only qualm about this place is after you leave, your hair and clothes will smell like Mongolian! read more

Cheap all you can eat Asian stir fry! It seems like a decent place to grab some Mongolian BBQ, however, the quality of the food is below average. $12 per person for unlimited food isn't bad at all. The meal comes with a choice of either egg drop or hot and sour soup. It also comes with this sesame bread, which was okay, but we barely touched it. Next, you build your own bowl. They offer noodles, a variety of vegetables such as onions, celery, carrots, mushrooms, bean sprouts, and different meats like imitation crab, beef, and pork. The biggest gripe I have is the sanitation. The vegetables looked unappetizing, because they've probably been sitting out all day. The meats were sitting out too, but they were frozen so I guess that's okay? After you put all those components in a bowl, you add sauces. I'd recommend adding a lot of the oyster sauce or the house sauce, because it can be bland and just greasy. It makes me sad to give this restaurant 2 stars, because the service is so friendly. But overall, I guess it might be a decent place for some quick Mongolian BBQ if you're not picky about the quality of the food. read more

Do not eat here. This place is extremely over priced. $54.00 for two people. The environment is cold, dated and unprofessional. The customer service was horrible. They brought out two bowls (not full bowls) of rice for six people. As you walk in, the person behind the counter is standing there eating a plate of food. Not a good look! The food itself was not good. It seemed as if the sauces had been watered down in order because they didn't have there true flavor. As I was sitting with my party at the table, I observed a worker sitting alone at a table digging out his nose and flicking boogers under the table. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. He continued on for at least 15 minutes. I became so sick to my stomach from seeing this, I ran out of the resturant and waited for my husband and the rest of our party outside. None of us will ever revisit this disgusting place ever again. All of the staff could benefit from some Heath and Sanitary training. In the end, we could have gone to a much nicer resturant for the cost and can guarantee to have had a much better dining experience. read more

There's a lot of hype surrounding this place so before visiting I was really looking forward to having Mongolian bbq again (it had been a while) we got here doing a slow time which was perfect. The inside appearance is pretty blah, but our server was really nice, she was quick with our drinks & soups, (and fresh cookies after our meal). The chef on duty was kind as well. I guess I was just expecting more to be honest. Been coming to this location since they first opened up. One of the owner's has always been good to my family. Love getting unlimited trips to try my food cooked on the grill in one of many different combinations. I also look forward to the little cookies at the end, the owner hooks me up sometimes with more. Love this establishment. I am always surprised when he sees me and remembers my family and asks how I am doing. That's what keeps a person coming back, along with the food of course. read more

I really like this place when I am dining with a friend or people from work. I don't like bringing kids here. They don't really have a good option for children but you'll pay for it anyway. I love this place. I usually come here atleast once a month. The prices are decent and the food is usually good. One time I celebrated my birthday there and the staff sung happy birthday to me and gave me a free dinner so in my opinion the staff is good. Had a disappointing excursion at Warriors Grill last night while dining with three other neighbors. The food was as usual - I've been eating there for years and only had some minor gastronomic issues from some raw meat (probably), but never been concerned to never return. Unfortunately, when we decided to pay the bill, we used cash instead of the normal credit card, since the bill came with the table total and it was easier to split it that way as opposed to asking for separate bills. As it was $25 apiece, I gave my friend my share and he added a $50 bill to the pile, which included the other bills to pay the tab plus tip. Another colleague gave the cash to the waitress and when she returned a bit flustered, we thought she didn't understand that the tip was included. Much to our dismay, she was relating that the amount given didn't cover the cost of the meals, but was short. The money she brought back was mysteriously missing the $50 bill, it apparently being replaced with a $20. When I confronted the manager later (our mistake - we should have done it immediately at the table) he said the cashier only received the short amount - never got a $50 bill. We've never had a problem like this before, but now that the establishment integrity is overall compromised, I will always pay directly to the cashier, whether using cash or credit card, as there is a possibility that this unscrupulous employee would steal personal information also. I'm not recommending not choosing this restaurant for a meal - just be aware of the cash flow and be on your guard when making final payment! read more

Co-worker took me to try during lunch. It was very crowded so it's always a good thing. The idea and set up of the grill having the two guys preparing the food is pretty interesting. But it gets a little bit slow with that many people in line during the lunch crowd. By the time we got back to our table, it was already 20 minutes past so the soup that the server brought out for us was already cold. The server was very prompt but it's one of the odd time we wished they brought thing out a little bit slower. The food is fresh as you get to eat what you put on your plate immediately after the chef finished the grilling but it would probably be better the second time you try as now you know how much sauces, meat, and veggie you need to add to balance it out. Two Words.... DE+LISH! I love this place. I live in Hampton and will routinely drive to Chesapeake for this restaurant. Simple, clean, not over-the-top but the food is fresh and really good. The choices are plentiful but not ridiculous. Having gone to some Mongolian BBQ places where the selections simply became overwhelming and almost seemed more for show than anything else, I have come to really appreciate this place. The meat (dark meat chicken, white meat chicken, lamb, beef, pork) is kept frozen so you know it has been handled properly. Veggies are crisp and the sauces are perfect. The prices are really reasonable and the soup and flat bread that comes with the meal are perfect. The staff are VERY nice and it always feels like I am at a friends house. The owner is a vet so this is a very pro Hampton Roads military family restaurant. Highly recommended! read more

Warriors is one of those places you cant help but come back to now and again. IS it fantastic? no, is it pretty cheap and decent? yes. Stack your plates high however because to have all you can eat you have to pay a little bit more at lunch time. As i understand it this didn't used to be the case but with most places these days times are hitting them hard and now you pay more to eat more. Iv come here many times, One time at night we were the last couple in the place and the staff pretty much sat down and watched us like hawks waiting for us to finish eating so they could go home. The food is decent, its not the greatest quality, No organics or grass fed beef here people. pretty much the same quality stuff you would find at most fast food chain asian places in the area. The one thing i love about this place has nothing to do with the Grill at all, its the Sesame buns that you get with the meal... Guilty Pleasure. read more
