Came here last night off of a recommendation from the hotel I stayed at and sure glad I did. This is a pretty small sushi place located in a small strip mall. Once inside nothing to special but very clean and they have TVs for watching a game which was important to me based on the World Series last night. I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and was given my choice of tables. Once seated immediately was greeted by my waitress and had my drink on the table in less than 2 minutes. Immediately impressed by the friendliness and prompt service. After a quick view of the menu I made my choices and settled in to watch the game. After about 10 mins my food came out which consisted of a chicken & salmon bento box with no rice and all salad along with some garlic edamame. The portion was great and the right amount of food. The flavors were on point and hit the spot. What was most impressive was the attentive staff...they work as a team and ensure your drink is never empty and have everything you need. I truly felt like a guest in their house. This is a small hidden gem in the Livermore area. If your local I would highly recommend giving this place a try and turning this into a locals favorite. Came here on a Sunday afternoon with my boyfriend after we visited the Livermore farmer's market around 1:30 PM and were seated right away! The restaurant was still pretty filled, so I was happy that we were able to be seated so quickly. We ordered one special roll (Spider), a salmon roll, and tempura udon to share between the two of us and it was definitely enough food. The salmon roll tasted so delicious and fresh despite its inherent simplicity! I felt that the spider roll was smaller than other places (less pieces, same amount of filling), but still tasted great. The udon was DELICIOUS, especially the broth! It came with a side of tempura that had 4 pieces total: shrimp, potato, broccoli, and sweet potato. A little lacking in the amount of tempura BUT I didn't complain because 1. These are my favorite types of tempura LOL and 2. The bowl of udon itself was quite big so made up for it!! This place has the largest serving of sashimi I've ever seen! We ordered the large Wasabi sashimi special, which I think is around 40-50 pieces of sashimi + a huge fish that they fry for you after you're done. I was a little worried that a small restaurant in the middle of Livermore wouldn't have fresh fish but, wow, I was so wrong. Every piece melted in my mouth!! My family and I have been here a few times now. They've recently opened up their place to be bigger but there's still a wait especially during dinner time. With the amount of customers, I feel like the waiters do their best to tend to everyone. The food is delicious. The fish tastes really fresh and it just melts in your mouth. They give you a lot of raw fish compared to other places where the fish to rice ratio weighs more on the rice than fish. I like that there's more fish because that's essentially what you're paying for. Therefore, you get your money's worth. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

EXTREMELY LONG WAIT TIME FOR FOOD (plan accordingly) Waited 40 minutes for the waiting list to be seated. That's perfectly fine, a little long but understandable on a Saturday night. But once we got seated, the waiter kept giving us attitude, refusing to give us an extra set of utensils until we had to confront him for the fourth time. Tried to get over it and maintain a friendly atmosphere until 30 minutes passed and no food arrived... we decided to ask the waitress and she said it would take an additional 20 minutes for the food. Yes, I've been here soooooooooooooooo many times. Sometimes twice a week, maybe even made it twice a day once. Three and a half years have passed and Wasabi Bistro is still rockin'! Quality food + reasonable price = happy customers! Let's start with the obvious - the fish! They have the usual suspects - salmon (sake), tuna (maguro), yellowtail (hamachi), and the like. However, they also serve Japanese red snapper (tai), black snapper (kurodai), Spanish mackerel (aji), amberjack (kanpachi), and halibut (hirame) among others. And let's not forget the cream of the crop - the Bluefin tuna belly cuts (otoro and chutoro)! The best way to get all these in one order? Bring some friends and try their Sashimi Platters. Depending on the availability of the fish and the size of the platter, they will provide generous sashimi cuts that will be enough to satisfy everyone. Whether it's your birthday, your friend's birthday, or even the birthday of the stranger across the street, the Sashimi Platter is the way to go. But wait, there's more! Each platter comes with either one or two fish heads with skeleton. Once the platter is served and everyone in the party has taken some photos of the wonderfully plated dish, request them to fry the fish head and skeleton so that they can serve it as soon as all the sashimi is gone. When that smoking-hot and crispy fish cracker hits the table followed by another round of Snapchat and IG photo-op, it's time to enjoy the real deal. There's still plenty of fish meat in and around the collar and the head, but the crunchy bones are the best! By the way, each platter comes with a corresponding number of miso soup, salad, steamed rice, and vegetable tempura, which you should let your friends have so that they'll be full when the sashimi is served. With a rather extensive selection of rolls, claiming which one is the best can be quite a challenge. It could be the Raiders Roll with spicy albacore and cucumber topped with hamachi and black tobiko with a dash of ponzu sauce on the side... Or maybe the Washington Roll and its deep-fried oysters and cucumber with spicy tuna, chopped green onions, and some house-special sauces on top... Or perhaps the Spicy Tuna Tataki with pasty spicy tuna and cucumber plus seared tuna and other garnishes to top it... Ask my wife and she'll say it's the Kiss of Fire Roll - shrimp tempura and imitation crab topped with salmon and jalapeño then blowtorched to delicious perfection! Ask my daughters and you won't have to go deep into the menu - it's the Godzilla, their deep-fried spicy hamachi roll. Deep-fried never gets old. An item worthy of its own paragraph is their salmon skin. Anything that has salmon skin on the menu (Salmon Skin Roll, Salmon Skin Hand Roll, Salmon Skin Salad, and Daisy Roll (CA Roll topped with fresh salmon and salmon skin)) is worth ordering. This isn't the usual flash-grilled salmon skin that's served elsewhere; this is crispy, anchovy-like greatness that we're talking about. I'll be honest here, we've had a few times when some portions were a bit chewy (lmaybe because of the complexity involved in its preparation, but when it comes out the way it should, then it's just like what C+C Music Factory best described as one of those Things That Make You Go - Hmmmmmmmmmm... The fish and seafood are awesome, but so are the tempura (great sauce!), gyoza (great sauce!), teriyaki (great sauce!), and udon (no sauce!). The place has evolved - adding Sundays to its schedule and recently acquiring next door to cater to the ever-growing demand. Came in to place a to go order. Ordered very simple, edamame and vegetable tempura. Was told 20 minutes. Edamame was sitting ready to go after 15 minutes. At 35 minutes I had to ask if the tempura was coming, Definitely seems like they forgot about it. After 45 minutes my order was ready. The edamame is obviously cold but yet you sent me out with it instead of offering to make a new batch after letting it sit 30 minutes. Food is always good here but this ruined my meal. The service was not great. The food was not worth the price. As soon as I walked in I saw a tablet by the door to add my name to the waitlist. I tried doing it but it only went up to parties of 6 and we had 8. I went to the front register and there was about 4 servers and 4 cooks working on orders and not ONE said hello or we'll be right with you. I waited about 5 mins before anyone acknowledged my existence and helped me add my name to the waitlist. I only stayed bc the people I was with had picked out the place and we were still waiting on them. After I got the txt that the table was ready we were sat and again greeted rudely by the server. He asked if we were ready and before we could look around to confirm with the rest of the table he walked away saying I'll give you a few more minutes. About 10-15 mins passed before he came back and took our order. It took about an hour from when we sat down to when we got our food. The food was okay nothing special and definitely pricey. The interior is much bigger than it looked to be from the outside. We were seated immediately and got drinks within 5 minutes. With our party of 5, we ordered a seaweed salad and 6 rolls. My family thought it would be too much, but after we demolished the first three rolls, we pretty much scarfed down the rest and were full but satisfied. I don't remember the names of the rolls but there were two that stood out to us the most. The Salmon Special Roll melted in our mouth. For those of you who love Salmon, you must get it!! It's literally Salmon on Salmon with sauces, avocado, and cucumber that blend in deliciously. The second roll we loved was the Simba roll. It had crab, Salmon, and cream cheese with sauces. I am not particularly fond of cream cheese but lately I've been loving the deep fried rolls worth cream cheese! It was heaven in my mouth. My boyfriend and I are regulars here, we come here once a week at least! But tonight we got rude service. We ordered our usuals which was W.B roll, dragon crunch, and katsu plate. I asked them for teriyaki sauce and never got it. The katsu plate comes with the salad and I had to ask for it. So I asked for the teriyaki sauce. The server gives me the sauce and I was like can I get the salad as well? He proceeded to tell me " can you tell me everything you need at once" and walked away in a rude way. I was shocked by how rude he is. Service is always lacking here. Not sure if I'll ever be back again. They don't treat the customers with respect and we have eaten here many times. Finally tried this restaurant after my friend Melissa has been raving so much about it. It definitely did not disappoint! We came on a Saturday around 7:00 PM. It gets pretty packed, but the wait was about 20-30 min for a party of 4. Not too bad. There isn't really a waiting area, so we just kinda stood around the door. Bar seating was available, but there's only about 4-6 seats (I think), so if you have a bigger party, you would probably prefer a booth or table. Melissa mentioned how much she likes the Oyster appetizer, so I shared that with her. It was really good! VERY fresh. Mind you, I am not the hugest fan of oysters, but there were fresh and very meaty! It was slimy or goopy, like I've experienced at other restaurants before. They put some vinegar and Sriracha (I think), which gives it a good kick. One order comes with 4 decent sized oysters, and that costs about $7. Not bad if you want your oyster fix! For my dinner, I shared 4 rolls with another friend. We got the Caterpillar, Orange Daisy, Red Dragon, and Dancing Shrimp. The Caterpillar is a classic, so that was good. My favorite out of the 4 was the Dancing Shrimp because I LOVE shrimp tempura and the panko bread crumbs!! It was so tasty! The Red Dragon was really good too! The spicy tuna wasn't too spicy and it tastes fresh! The best presentation was the Orange Daisy roll. It was SO PRETTY. The salmon was really fresh and tasty. Overall, I really enjoyed my dining experience here! We waited quite a while for our rolls, but when you're in good company, you don't mind it so much! Customer service was good! Stopped by about 8:30 pm on a Saturday night. Still had small line waiting outside. The wife and I were seated in just a few minutes as they had a small table for 2 available. Downside was the table is right in the middle of the small dining room so a busy area and not the most private. Both ordered dinner boxes and split the spicy tuna tatanka roll. Both were very good. I had the salmon sashimi and chicken teriyaki. The servings were very generous and the salmon was fresh and tasty. Chicken was also good. Wife had tonkatsu and mixed tempura. The tonkatsu was a touch dry, but fine while the tempura was good. They actually provided two shrimp tempura. A small item to be sure, but most places seem to only include one. The roll was good. I was a bit surprised that the sauce was sweet, but it was fresh tasting and like the boxes, they were generous with the ingredients. Food very good. Service was fine but nothing special. Overall, I think 4-1/2 stars is correct, but rounding down 1/2 star due to awkward table location. Give it a try if you're shopping nearby at the outlets. read more

This is my go-to sushi place in a Livermore with my boyfriend. Service has always been adequate for us, but isn't overly friendly which I tbh appreciate a lot. We usually go during the time between when most people eat lunch and dinner and we've always been seated immediately. My boyfriend and I start with miso soup and either the karaage (fried chicken appetizer) or the garlic edamame and both are very good. Warning though, the karaage has always come out fresh out of the fryer and still very hot. My over enthusiastic boyfriend has bit into a piece only to get a mouth full of steam because he just can't wait. Give them a moment to cool before eating! We usually split three rolls which is more than enough between us. Today we got the Geisha roll for the first time, and it's very fresh and a bit spicy and something I'd get again. This place was amazing! It's definitely a hidden gem in the desert of livermore, never would have expected to find this sort of sushi place here. A group of 8 of us came for an early dinner and we were very glad we did! We ordered a couple sides (ebi, tofu), my friend and I both got udon, and I ended up getting their wasabi sashimi salad too. Sooo I basically ended up getting two meals, that salad is huge! I would have been good with just one or the other, so don't repeat my mistake haha. The rest of the party shared one of the wasabi sashimi platters and man it is beautiful and delicious. Came with salad and miso soup as appetizers too. Lots of fresh sashimi (some labels would have been helpful in identifying what everything was). Then when they were close to done, they took the fish bodies from the platter and deep fried them to make giant fish chips - again, delicious. I have been Here several times and I feel comfortable giving a five star review. Their waits are always reasonable. Their service is consistent and their sushi is always consistent in quality. I feel they give good portion slices and they accommodate you if you ask for thin slices but they still give you the same amount of sushi. I have to say they use the freshest and they run out if of uni if you don't get there early and their salmon is very rich. If you're more of a roll type of person their cut rolls are very delicious and creative. I never had problem with parking. It's friendly for kids or just a date night out. Coming from Bear Valley, my family wanted to grab light dinner before heading back home. Livermore was perfect stop over so we came to try Wasabi Bistro. Cooked sushi rolls were tasty - pink boy, kiss of fire, sp scallop (which was same as kiss of fire so don't order one or the other otherwise it'll taste the same). Hands down of the best sushi places in Livermore! Their fish is always super fresh and their sashimi combos are an amazing deal! Their rolls and hand rolls always have a a lot of fish and they do not try to cut corners in their fish quantity and quality. Restaurant decor and hygiene is nice and clean. Super good sushi place! Small shop so probably not a good place for large parties. There might be a wait if you come at a busy time. Their rolls are unique and super tasty. For the price (really not bad, one of the cheaper sushi places), they are also generous with their portions. My favorite is the orange daisy (super pretty!) and spicy salmon, basically any of their salmon rolls. They also have the typical bento boxes and rice bowls.
