There were two things I had at Wasabi Sushi that should've warranted four stars - the baked oysters and the Dynamite. In an otherwise dim looking sushi restaurant on a block that has too many sushi restaurants, there's hope. If Wasabi Sushi continues pushing out delicious spins on seafood like the two previously mentioned dishes - there's no doubt that Wasabi Sushi can beat all of it's competitors. The baked oysters came topped with caviar, and Japanese mayonnaise. Not the most appetizing sounding dish when you think of oysters and mayonnaise but I was seriously blown away by how GOOD these were! They were hot and fresh out of the oven but that didn't stop me from burning my tongue twice just to suck these babies down as fast as I could! The dynamite is an appetizer dish that sorta tastes like the baked oysters do. (They have the same idea, caviar and Japanese mayo) Baked into a small foil dish, it's scallops and mushrooms with caviar and Japanese mayo. Another delicious creation! I've never had Dynamite before but it was heavenly! However, the service here is really spotty. Sometimes it feels like the servers are overwhelmed and can't handle too many tables at once. That being said, you can get ignored really easily. Also, the servers are really pushy and try to upsell at every turn. The sushi here is nothing really special and actually a bit pricier than their competitors next door. If it weren't for these aspects of Wasabi Sushi they could really do well. So my final verdict after all things considered; three stars. read more

I walked in for lunch. I'm very big on customer service. As soon as I walked in nobody was at the door to greet me. I would understand if it were busy. Or maybe the cooks in the front could greet you if nobody's at the front to say hi. The waitress was extremely friendly though when she seated me. She has a nice smile. The food came out quickly. I ordered the lunch box special with teriyaki chicken. I just feel like the food wasn't as fresh. The carrots were extremely huge and cut in an odd shape. It was hard to grab with the chopsticks ( yes I have skills in using them). The ambience of the restaurant has dim lighting, and it makes you feel relax. Good, reliable, cheap sushi place for Bensonhurst. You can't compare Brooklyn sushi to Manhattan omakase places but, if you live in the area, I think this place is better than the other sushi joints within a 5 block radius. A variety of rolls and they have lunch special prices. I'd skip the avocado salad and the octopus appetizer. read more

I used to love this place and for years, I have been here for sushi buffet. But their taste is not as good as before...maybe because the nearly place Sake is more competitive. One of my favorite spots for cheap sushi lunch in Brooklyn. I can get a lot of yummy sushi without breaking the bank and it's always super fresh. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I don't really like the soy sauce but it's worth coming back for more anyway. I heard about this place through yelp & decided to check it out, since they had unique desserts & large portions. I ordered take out and it only took about 8 minutes to complete my order (20x sashimi, soup, ice cream, & cake). Sashimi portion sizes were average & tasted as expected, miso soup tasted as expected, and green forest cake & taro ice cream tasted excellent. Taro ice cream has coconut bits, and isn't as sweet as other ice creams. Price for Sashimi Deluxe is the second lowest on this street, but it also offers the greatest variety. During lunch, Wasabi is tied with 2 other places for the absolute cheapest sushi & rolls you could possibly get in Bensonhurst. They take credit card, but unfortunately, they only take MasterCard & Visa, no Discover or American Express (Amex). All in all, this experience was extremely pleasant. Thank you. Boston Roll and my creation roll of Tuna Mango and Cream Cheese Roll...both with minimum mayo or cream cheese. I really like this place because of the food and the staff. You would think that the same standard mean (Shrimp Teriyaki) would taste about the same everywhere but I notice the difference and always prefer to go here. As for special orders; I've been here so much that I have pretty much had everything on the standard menu so usually I just ask one of the servers to recommend something unusual and am always happy with the results. As for the staff, I am not sure if I should be naming them on this site but I pretty much like all of the servers. They know our names and where we like to sit so coming in we don't feel like foot traffic. My friend moved from the neighborhood and a year down the line they still ask about him. I've had a few family dinners here and the prices are always pretty reasonable. They recommend the raw oysters. Not personally my thing but everyone else loved them. I've started coming to this place for about a year and a half now. The service is great and the food never disappoints. Sushi is always fresh, I recommend the eel cucumber and the salmon avocado. The dessert is really good as well, I have tried the sorbet which was good but nothing close to the green tea crepe. They have THE BEST KANI SALAD ever, it always hits the spot. This is my favorite Japanese restaurant. The sushi and the lunch box are good. My family go there very weekend.

I love it here! The waitstaff are super friendly and patient. One time, the waitress offered to help me find an apartment in the area. Another time, the waiter helped us pick some items that were unfamiliar to us. There is never a long wait when I come to eat sushi. I had their chirashi, sashimi, AYCE(all you can eat) sushi, their love boat for 2, their shaggy dog roll(a deep fried tempura shrimp in batter wrapped in fresh crab meat), and the salmon lover. All that I mentioned are absolutely recommendable. Their fish used in the sushi and also as sashimi is fresh and tasty. I never walk out of here with an empty stomach. In fact, I usually eat so much, that I'm surprised that I still fit the same clothes and that I could fit out the door. Here, you can also get udon or soba noodles, teriyaki dishes, and fried rice. I also like their miso soup and their green tea. They also have a salad that has the most delicious ginger dressing! I have to say that it is a dim lit ambience so it is great for a date or groups, because they have vinyl covered booths(like in a diner). When I visit, I usually find it laidback and there is no rush to leave. It is great if you want to eat alone as well. I recommend it if you find yourself in Bensonhurst or Dyker Heights. The Green Forest cake is one of the most delicious things I have ever tried!! I ve been trying to find where they buy this cake from and purchase it for myself, but havent been able to find the bakery. The restaurant has pretty good Sushi the galaxy roll is really good, so is the lion king roll.However the only thing that is to die for is that cake! As a matter of fact I would skip everything and just go for that cake. Very often that cake is sold out, if you are a chocolate lover like I am, go there and order it you wont be sorry! read more

Im not quite sure why this place has so little reviews/stars. Wasabi has been open before any of the other sushi restaurants on the block. This is also the only place that hasnt changed themselves to all you can eat to maintain business. That has to mean something. a cute, friendly place, no fuss , no frill just fresh food. Sushi/Sashimi is fresh and comes out with super speed (if you are looking for a quick lunch place , this is a great place). The all you can eat is pretty nice, but they give you a lot of rice. The fried ice cream is different from other places; instead of it being a ball-liked shape, they cut it up for you into slices. The love boat was awesome!! They made it look so pretty and the sushi pieces had long slices of fish instead of it being short. The sashimi was cut into thick pieces. The minute I walk in and ask for a table for two, the waiter tells me it is a twenty minute wait. So I glance around, and there were SO MANY SEATS AVAILABLE. Then, a couple started to leave, and a group of five came in. The waiters looked as if they knew these people and they spoke in Chinese saying that they were just clearing a table for them.
