My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try this establishment for a good while. I will get straight to the point. This place is great!!! Hands down the best seafood I have had while living in Fort Worth. All of the food was seriously amazing. Worth every penny. They also had a great selection of wine and beer. Our server, Scott was very efficient and entertaining. We will always want to sit in his section is he is working. The ambience was nice. I liked all the decorations and the structure itself. We started off with the seafood tower. I could order that and be fine, but I got the scallops and husband got the crab cakes. Scallops were cooked perfectly and not over done. I visited the W 7th location many times for brunch or dinner but had not made it to the new location yet... About a month ago for my birthday, my boyfriend arranged for a private dining experience with our parents. It was such a treat! Our server was Mona who gave us excellent albeit chatty service. Her assistant was less helpful and didn't seem to be able to directly answer our questions about the menu but went into a pretty lengthy speech about the Bonnell brand and restaurants(we are all Fort Worth natives and very familiar with John, but beyond that could you answer our questions, please?!). That was a less than pleasant aspect of our evening but Mona kept the prosecco flowing and it was all good. My filet was superb as well as the haricot vert I had as my side. The fish crusted with pepitas my boyfriend had was not so tasty according to my sweetie but he tends to opt for more straightforward flavors anyway. Lesson learned. Dinner was WAY less expensive than I expected(couldn't help but glance at the bill) and they brought our cake in and served that for us as well. The only thing I really didn't care for was the dining room we were seated in. It's obviously used more for meetings and doesn't have the same elegant coastal feel as the rest of the restaurant. But it was located just off the back patio which means you have to walk through the dining room past the wine room and the kitchen to get there. Kind of Sopranos-esque but it was cool. Another nice touch was the card signed by the entire staff. Still giving 5 stars because the food was so damn good. We will definitely be back. read more

Enjoy a quiet Sunday lunch here this week. Our server was very nice and The calamari was tasty. 3 of us ordered Fish and Chips and one ordered a filet with a side of gumbo so my review is somewhat skewed on only 2 dishes. Plus a side of the lobster Mac and cheese. All of us agreed that the fish was tasty, but a bit greasy. Our "chips" were quite sad little French fries that spent about 2 minutes too long in the fryer. Most were so hard they were completely inedible. The gumbo was full of fresh ingredients but tasted like someone had dumped far too much cajun spice - so it ended up very one note. The filet was cooked perfectly and quite tasty and came with a nicely cooked side of green beans. Finally the lobster and Mac....This is a difficult dish to properly prepare. You can either have too much or too little lobster and the fish is ruined, sadly Waters version has an imperceptible amount of lobster. As a Mac and cheese it was fine but alas the lobster was MIA We all agreed we would go Back and give dinner a try, but overall 3 out of 4 of us were disappointed. read more

Here I was thinking that after going to Bonnell's in the past, there was no way we would be able to go too that experience. I was wrong.....Bonnell's was absolutely amazing with amazing food and service. This experience topped it, because we were put into a situation by a different restaurant we thought we had reservations at (OpenTable fail) before Hamilton, and that restaurant was beyond rude, off-putting, and not empathetic, at all. I understand it was mistake and didn't expect a table at that restaurant, but how they treated us was uncalled for. We tried a few other restaurants and were given the run around. My wife called Waters as she was walking in that direction, while I was parking the car, and the hostess Corynn was so gracious, empathetic, and helpful and said that there would be a wait, but they would find us a spot. We got there and more of the same. She was awesome and just because of her alone, we would have come back. I went to the bar while we waited for a table and the bartenders were great. The computers were down and you could tell it was slowing them down, but they didn't let it be known and put out great quality drinks in a quick manner. Once we got our table, we had about 40 minutes until Hamilton was going to start, and we didn't want to be late. Our server Trey came by our table and we filled him in. He recommended items we should stick to that were really good and he thought would come out in a timely fashion. I was in awe with how fast our dishes came out. The food was amazing and good sized portions. Trey took our credit card and had it back to us quickly (with the computers still down). We were able to make it to Hamilton with about 10 minutes to spare. We were already fans from our past Bonnell's experiences and the support John has shown the city and other restaurants, but we are definite lifelong fans now! One helluva 1st Waters experience. We came here for our wedding anniversary. First, the ambiance and setting is calming, not overwhelming, and bright. It's very welcoming and we didn't feel like we were packed in like sardines. The tables are low (I couldn't cross my legs under the table, which made dinner a little uncomfortable...and I'm only 5'4"). It also seemed like it's a spot for an older crowd. The drinks: I started with the pickled okra martini. It was delicious but definitely something you only want one of. I also had a glass of their house sauvignon blanc. It complimented the crab cakes perfectly. The food: we started off with the gulf shrimp. They were chilled perfectly, huge, fresh, and oh so yummy! The triple mustard sauce and cocktail sauce paired perfectly with the shrimp. My husband and I split the Caesar salad next. The croutons were sweet and very unexpected. They were good but not what I want for a Caesar salad (I'd prefer something with a little more tang...the sweetness of the croutons did not add to the flavor profile). The dressing was delicious, lettuce was crisp, and the parmesan was plentiful. My husband and I then split the crab cakes. The crab cakes were good, but had too much of a kick to them for me. My husband loved them. The arugula salad with it compliments the crab cakes perfectly. We also had the roasted red potatoes, which neither of us were a fan of. They seemed overroasted and over seasoned. For dessert we had the carrot cake...OMG best carrot cake ever. It was heavenly! Overall: this is a great upscale seafood option for Sundance Square. This was a truly mixed experience. I sat myself on the Patio because i dress simple and the dining room was absolutely full of suits and dresses which led me to believe that i was going to enjoy top quality food and service. The service was very much up to par but the food was not. After seeing and hearing that the Jumbo Crab Cakes were on the small side, i opted for the Scallops as my entree. I first received my "Dirty Dozen" of raw oysters (if you read previous reviews i always try raw oysters if a place serves them) and as it was described to me, each pair of oysters were different and had unique traits/flavor profiles. This was true and i enjoyed experiencing the variety of different oysters very much, however a few were plagued with shell bits which kept it from being a perfect dish. Next up was the chef's "Signature" gumbo which was the biggest letdown of the night. The crawfish and shrimp add a richness of their own flavor but besides that... It was bland. The andouille sausage was sliced into paper thin triangles, almost like it was stamped out of a deli cut. The entree saved the evening as the scallops were sweet, delicious, and had an array of ingredients paired with it to really complement the dish. My only complaint with it is as i was eating it, there was grit to it but im unsure if it was from the scallops or one of the dishes i ate previously. Dessert was good, a lemon cheesecake that was balanced well with a light dusting of salt. In short, i expected much better for the high prices i paid. The only true positives were the staff/service and the mixed drinks which keeps this from being a two star review. read more

It's more than a place to eat, it's their passion to provide the very best dining experience at a very reasonable price. The restaurant is comfortable, the staff members are relaxed and friendly, and the experience is worthy of your time. Parking is no hassle, complimentary Valet, or several free parking options. Waters Texas restaurant as soon as you walk in, you smell of the ocean. At first it's very overwhelming but then you kind of get used to it. I was able to try the tuna tartare, zucchini fritters, and the golf shrimp for an appetizer. The heirloom tomatoes with the goat cheese on arugula, has to be the best salad I've ever tasted before my life. That's salad made my experience at Waters Texas restaurant a memorable experience. I will definitely want to come back an experience that again. It is a little bit pricey but well worth it. read more

I ate at Waters last nite. The meal was just ok. The tab was $98 for one person. That was high for the quality of food. The crab cakes were burned and when I inquired I was told that was how they were supposed to be. My biggest complaint was a $3 charge for extra tartar sauce. It was a tablespoon. When I refused to pay for that the mgr took it off the bill and stated the extra charge was how they kept their "prices low!" What?? A $98 bill for one person is not low!! The wine for 2 glasses was $24, so the balance of $74 for the food is low?? I would rate this restaurant as no stars at all if it was possible! read more

I didn't eat but was just walking by with my dog. The chef walked out and told me I was as welcome with my dog. Elliott is a German Shepherd, so not a small dog. Every employee made my dog feel welcome by offering water. He was happy. The beer prices were acceptable for being in a great place downtown, so I was happy. Service was excellent and everyone stopped to pet Elliott. I plan on returning for the welcome and service. Big thanks to Waters for being dog (even big dog) friendly. read more

We had heard great things about this place. Table for 4 (2 x married couples). ATROCIOUS! From the starters, through to the COMP'D deserts. Starters shared between all...Jumbo Shrimp...overcooked and ZERO seasoning. Texasfella oysters, mealy coating with no flavour, oysters TINY and cooked ok, again ZERO seasoning. Hush puppies, gummy and surprise...no seasoning. Calamari...SMALLEST serving I have EVER had...between 4...A JOKE! Actually these were the best of all the appetizers. Mains 3 x fish and chips (1 x Redfish ($32), 2 x Halibut ($48) ). We mens both had the Halibut, we both expected the GREATEST FISH AND CHIPS EVER MADE FOR ALMOST $50. Must now point out I am English, so, I know my F&Cs! BLOODY AWFUL! The tempora batter was just flour coating the fish (which was overcooked and dry), ABSOLUTELY NO CRUNCH whatsoever! At this point we complained and they comp'd desert...which were mediocre to say the least. We paid over $400 (inc drinks and tips/tax) for an utterly HORRENDOUS meal...WE WON'T BE RETURNING. I bring all out of town guests here, especially friends from New Orleans craving great seafood. The oysters oin the half shell are delicious, each with their own different taste (we got the dirty dozen). From the Arctic char to the gumbo to the salads (the goat cheese is a must), I can't say enough good things. We are sitting on the patio tonight enjoying the breeze and great weather. It was an unplanned stop today at Waters, so we are not dressed up at all. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed or celebratory dinner here last month. Overall thoughts: amazing waiter, delicious food, great ambiance and slightly expensive prices. I would recommend eating dinner here for a special occasion. We made a reservation online the night before (Friday night). The only availability they had was at 5:15pm or 8:15pm. We went for the 5:15 even though it was a little earlier than we were hoping. Saturday morning we gave them a call for any chance they had an opening and got moved to 5:30. It ended up working out perfectly and we loved that we were with the earlier crowd! Most of the restaurant was empty so we had the place and our waiter all to ourselves until we had decided to order. Once we ordered and began to receive appetizers the restaurant had begun to fill. Our waiter was Cameron and he was fantastic! When I go back I will be asking for his table again. He was very polite and funny, always there when you needed him and was very helpful to give you his thoughts and opinions. Even offering to return my glass of wine if I did not like his selection and got us the recipe (just the ingredient list) for the mustard sauce that came with the calamari. The drinks: I had a glass of red wine Cameron had suggested and it was fantastic. My husband and father each had a different specialty cocktail that was on their menu and both enjoyed them. My mom requested a kir royal and it was delicious! The food: we ordered the calamari and the zucchini fritters as appetizer. The calamari was fantastic. The zucchini fritters were different than expected and appeared and tasted on the burnt side. We all agreed the provided tzatziki sauce did not pair well with it in our opinion. We didn't mention this to the waiter but I'm sure he would have brought us a new or different appetizer instead. It wasn't terrible but it's not a dish I would get again. For dinner my husband and I both decided on the halibut. It was delicious! Perfectly cooked with a nice and crispy crust on top. The sweet potato gnocchi was not as sweet as I had been dreaming in my head it would be but still was good. My dad had the tuna and my mom had the salmon. There were no complaints from them and we all licked our plates clean. We also ordered the haricots verts and the red potatoes- the potatoes were our favorite and delicious leftover. For dessert we decided on the lemon cheesecake to share which was amazing! A few times we did see chef Bonnell come out from the kitchen and talk to a few tables. read more

Annually why wife takes me to a restaurant for a fine dining experience. This year's selection was Water's in downtown Fort Worth. We plan to spend exuberantly for a culinary experience that leaves us with a feeling of money well spent. Unfortunately, this was not such an experience, the overall visit was underwhelming. The staff was courteous and responsive when prompted, however we shouldn't have to ask more than once for requested items. Regarding the food it was prepared well with the exception of the fish portion of the fish and chips and the gumbo. The fish was light and fluffy and equally as bland, the only thing that makes it palatable is the malt vinegar or the tartar sauce. Regarding the Gumbo, its hearty and savory, but more of a thick seafood soup than Gumbo. Lastly, to present a 6oz lobster tail as a 12oz lobster tail is disrespectful and down right dishonest. We expected better, but you be the judge. read more

Wine list is the best I have seen in Ft. Worth with reasonable prices. Creme brûlée is above average, at these prices, still a bargain for special occasions and business dinners. We walk by the Waters location just about every day and have enjoyed watching the progress as it has been remodeled. Once the new restaurant opened we made a reservation on the Saturday evening of the Arts Festival. The design is really nice (with just one little shortcoming) and when we arrived the place was quite busy - as was all of downtown FW. Can't fault the food and service. We both had the halibut as entrees and we agreed it was delicious. Same with the salads (I had the tomato and fried goat's cheese) and deserts. That little shortcoming? It seems to us that the tables (especially the small ones for two people) are just a little too close together. We'd prefer to not be quite so involved in the neighbor's conversations. Waters is expensive (although the food is certainly well worth the price), so a setting that was a little more intimate would be a better fit. Having said that we'll be back for sure and we will also take advantage of that very nice patio before too long. Edit - the more I think about it, we probably won't go back. The food is nice, but it is irritating being so close to other customers. read more

Well... great location, lovely environment, great service but for $200, we got about two tablespoons of tuna in tuna tartare salads; three tablespoons of crab in lump crab salads; slightly overcooked Halibut and two glasses (small pours) wine. My husband's comment was, "why do we continue to go to expensive restaurants that underwhelm us". I didn't have an answer. read more
