Perfect spot for delicious food and drinks, accompanied by great music played on a good sound system, just loud enough for good vibes, and not too loud to enjoy conversation. The ribs are outstanding! We enjoy sitting in the Adirondak chairs around the fire pit with friends. We're also grateful to have an easy, centrally located spot to cruise in with a big group and enjoy a casual dinner together. Perfect for families, little kids and multi-generational groups. Fun seeing grandparents enjoying the beanbag toss with their grandchildren. Excellent place for winding up a long day at work, or even a weekend day at the beach, when nobody wants to cook, but everybody wants to eat and keep on hanging out together. It's as if we have a big, comfy patio of our own, right downtown, with room for everyone. And as I said above, the food is absolutely delicious. a great place to go to after a hike when you're craving a beer and bbq! got the islander which was good (but the pork was a bit dry) and the salted cucumber cider (worth trying!). there's plenty of tables outside and inside so it can accommodate a large group. service was great except it took a while for our food to come out because the "kitchen was backed up." they also brought out food for people out of order so people who were behind me in line got their orders first even though we ordered the same things. read more

After a long hike nearby, we were starving and looking for good food! This place didn't deliver. We ordered two sandwiches for $30 something dollars. The buns were cold and felt like there was no care in making our food that we waited 30 mins for. No fries on the side. Just a tiny sandwich. I really wanted to like this place. But. Great ribs, excellent sauce, and awesome sides. I'm a fan of Everett & Jones (Berkeley) and Emil Villas (East Bay). The ribs here rank right up there. They are juicy, yet with a light, seasoned "crust". The mean just falls off the bone. I love the cole slaw. I saw one of the previous reviews about the fennel in the 'slaw but for me, I love it and its the reason I ordered them for the second time. The owner/chef/BBQ Pit master is passionate about his ribs. He has alot of pride in what he does and its a pleasure to eat somewhere that the owner comes out to say hello and ask how your meal was. This place is awesome. We go here all the time in summer but it's great even when it's a little chilly. They have propane heaters and a fireplace. Strong recommendation on the ribs and the juicy ipa. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu! read more

Not a real BBQ place. Pulled pork sandwich the only thing on the menu. Tasted like the meat was boiled or baked with commercially made watered down bbq sauce from a dispenser bottle. The coleslaw that came with it was tasteless no flavor. Don't waste your money going here. read more

I really wish I could rate this place higher due to the location and great atmosphere, but I can't. We ordered a full rack of ribs, chicken slider, and a Fairfax Crunch salad. The ribs were the bright spot, but overdone. I don't care for the fall-off-the-bone consistency, but my wife and kids were ok with it. The chicken slider was dry and on a very stale bun. I've never eaten such a stale bun and I didn't eat more than two bites of this sandwich. The Fairfax Crunch salad was so dry that it makes me think they forgot the dressing. We had to mix in some BBQ sauce to make the salad edible and, even then, we barely made it through. If we ever go back (unlikely except maybe for beers), I'd give the ribs another chance, but definitely skip the chicken slider and Fairfax Crunch salad. read more

Brian and his crew are amazing. We had a private event for 130 people and the food, service, atmosphere were wonderful. The BBQ buffet was delicious and plentiful. 50 of our group were football players who all left full and happy and our vegetarians had plenty to eat too. 4.5 if I could. Good Ribs? Yes! Loaded Tots? Hell Yes! And a very solid selection of beers to choose from. I loved the sauces on the tots. Slow build on the heat that was really satisfying. This is such a great beer spot. It's just outside the foot traffic zone so doesn't get crowded on weekends (for now). Good beer and friendly staff but would love to see more beers offered. $7 for a 20 oz beer is good for Marin but their happy hour offering should be more competitive to draw in a bigger crowd being the new kids on the block and all. They have a live band on Sunday which always makes Waystation a perfect spot to end up at after a nice hike. Love the BBQ there and Max the owner of the installed Food truck is a master of the smoker! read more

Father's Day, evening, and they had no more buns for burgers, etc. Got a Cobb salad instead, which took 35 minutes to arrive. Meantime, son ordered a pizza, and 15 minutes later he was presented with a cardboard crust thin-y, resembling a frozen Tostino pizza from the grocery store. Great new spot in Fairfax! When we first tried to come here (when they first opened) they had a very limited menu but recently heard they had expanded their menu to include pizza and quesadilla which satisfies my picky kids so decided to give it another try. Pizza took a while but was tasty. Ribs and salad were delicious as were the sliders. Pit master was friendly and wanted to ensure we were enjoying our meal. Just tried Way Station for the first time. Great food (BBQ) and a decent beer list. The menu is limited but you'll understand why when you see the uber cool "kitchen". Our wedding was planned for the last Sunday in October and I asked Way Station if they would help us with a wedding event the day before. They did!! They helped us to plan an AMAZING party! The owners Brian and Matt are very hands on and paid attention to every detail. They were very accommodating and super helpful. The party grew to more than expected and they were able to deliver delightful appetizers and beverages for our guests. I'm so glad I found this place and was able to meet such great people there. Stopped in yesterday for some BBQ and we were delighted! The pork ribs were really great and we tried the chicken and pulled pork sliders which were very tasty as well. The sliders are perfect size for the kids and the tater tots are a treat they enjoy. Max, the BBQ master of Max's Pig 'n Pie bbqs and serves up the delicious food and we enjoyed a beverage and some music on the inviting patio for an enjoyable Sunday afternoon treat. Save some room for the delicious bread pudding (a long time family recipe) topped off with some vanilla gelato to satisfy your sweet tooth. Stumbled onto this spot when I was visiting family. Loved it. Great tasting BBQ (mix of St Louis, North Carolina, and Texas styles) and nice selection of beers. Super tasty.
