Jake's is a great local place. We dined there for the first time on Sunday. The interior is really nicely done and clean. We were met with a slight delay at the counter, but upon reaching the counter, we were greeted by a friendly employee who answered our questions and took our order. The food was brought to our table in about ten mins and was great. Burger was fresh and tender. Fries were great as well. There are many options, including variations on types of burgers and toppings. There are combos as well as custom orders. (As an aside I would really like to be there one day to see someone TRY to eat a "triple triple"). The clincher for us was when Don, the owner came to our table to introduce himself and apologize for the delay at the counter. It was not only a friendly move, but one made by a classy business owner. He clearly understands his customer and goes above and beyond to make dining at his restaurant a pleasurable experience. Highly recommend!!! Food was amazing, fresh, and high quality! I'm so upset I didn't try it earlier. The owner was super nice and welcoming even tho me and my BF just got back in the area from our commute from the city and we arrived right before closing....and we'd never been there so we took a few minutes to look over the menu. The only negative thing I can say is that the girl that was taking our order was clearly not happy that we walked in ten minutes before they were gonna lock the doors and that we didn't know what we wanted the second we walked in the door. Went with my college son and we were disappointed disappointed disappointed. Overpriced for the quaility and quantity. I guess people that enjoyed it were use to paying high prices for bad quality. No customers at all during lunch hour. Over liquid in shake. Could have had a glass of milk with sugar. Staff seemed like they had better things to do than wait on customers. Gee I had CASH. Would not recommend. Management better get this straight soon or it will be out of business. I can't see how it stays in business as it is with so few customers. Was a really nice experience. The first time my girlfriend and I went we were treated nicely from the beginning. We ordered and sat down. We talked and had a good time. Our meal came out within 5-10 min, which was fast because it was a Saturday and was a little busy. The food was amazing. The burger was the best I have had at restaurants in the area. We stopped in, on a lark. We had no particular expectations, but were hungry. Everything appears to be cooked fresh, so nothing by here is rushed. Burger quality was really good. Super yummy burger, even after sitting for 20 minutes while I finished running errands - poor planning on my part. This was my first time at Jakes and I went with the Cheeeesey burger and an order of small fries. Ended up saving the fries until that night as I was stuffed after the burger. This is an excellent burger spot that never fails to please. Whenever I go in, I order a burger that has been off of the menu for over a year (the BBQ Crunch Burger), and they still make it perfectly every time. Stumbled upon this place and thought, retro burgers, give it a try. Not so bad. This is a fast food chain. A cut above McD's or Wendy's for sure. What I liked was the that the burger was actually juicy. Greasy too, but juicy and tasty such as you will not find in the big chains. Good onion rings, good homemade potato chips. And they bring your order to your table for you. On the down side - the lettuce and tomato looked pretty sad and very small, nothing like the picture on the website, they are like the big chains in that way. As for the grouchy counter girl who seems to hate working there, well, I'd prefer a smiling, pleasant counter clerk, but good food is more important. And if I go back again, I'll remember to sit as far away as possible from the front counter because the grill is right there, and the cook smashes the each hamburger down on the grill very hard with a steel spatula. It sounds like a sledge hammer hitting an anvil every time he does it, which is about every 30 seconds. Just shatters my nerves. I probably wouldn't go back for that reason alone. read more

Had some old guy cooking that didn't know what he was doing. Using one flipper on the side with the meat in pressing it down and another cooking it. What a moron. Didn't think that the flipper that u press with would contain bacteria over the course of a few hours and get people sick. Then they had young kids that didn't know what they are doing. recognized the so called manager from Pizza hut days and thought that is great. She kept Pizza hut a mess with a old and cruddy salad bar. Would of never hired her to manage my business. Never going there again and told my friends watch out or your gonna get sick. I've eaten here 3 times. 2 times, double cheeseburger and onion rings.. 2 times my stomach was queasy an hour or so after I left. Last night, less than an hour later it started, and I was up all night with severe stomach pains, and other symptoms of possible food poisoning. Will NEVER go back :-( read more
