On a recent trip to Chicago with a group of our family, as we stepped off a subway our first night, we happened to see the Weber Grill Restaurant. I believe I had seen pictures of it before, but did not realize at all that it was in Chicago. As someone who has grown up in a family where every griller in the family is a pretty die hard Weber fan, I knew we had to go there! We actually had plans for another restaurant one night and rearranged so we could all go to the Weber Restaurant! I will admit, that I did not have the highest of expectations going in. I thought it would be cool, but it did not have outstanding reviews, it is a bit "commercial" with Weber Grill ornaments on the walls, and in general I don't have the highest of thoughts of most restaurants that are in hotels, which this is. Now that I have eaten there I will fully admit that I was wrong! It was one of the best meals I have eaten in a long time and all of our group agreed! We dealt with a few different waiters during our meal and all of them were very helpful and knowledgable while helping us decide what to order. We had a pretty big sampling of items and all shared a little, but everything was very good. For an appetizer I would certainly get the Crispy Brussel Spouts again, however I would probably skip the brisket egg rolls. For my meal I actually got the grilled wings and a Caesar salad. The wings were some of the best I have had in a restaurant. Crispy but not overcooked with a really good sauce and a good dipping sauce they called "Alabama ranch". Even the salad, which was not really anything special, but was really good with what tasted like homemade dressing. I also had tastes of the Asian Grilled Steak skewers, sesame steak medallions, and pork chop. All were cooked very well and tasted fantastic! I think everyone at our tables favorite side dish was the grilled Mexican street corn, however this was a special and I am not sure how often they offer it. Overall, we had a great meal, with great service, and I would say it was reasonable priced for what it was as well. My boyfriend and I are visiting Chicago and ate at Weber Grill last night (Sunday, October 15). As it is connected to our hotel (Hilton Garden Inn), it seemed like a good choice: we were sight-seeing all day and did not feel like venturing far for dinner. At approximately 4:30PM, I made the reservation for 7:00PM as we were finishing up a movie in our hotel room. The process for reservations was easy as I used OpenTable. Upon entering the restaurant from our hotel lobby, we walked to the hostess stand and let her know we had reservations. The hostess walked us to a table that was basically in the kitchen. The noise coming from the cooks preparing the food was extremely loud, and we had to basically shout at one another in order to have a decent conversation. Not blaming the cooks at all - I've worked in restaurants and a kitchen needs to do what it needs to do to run. I just felt that the layout of the restaurant was extremely odd. I get the concept: they wanted an open kitchen to show that the food is being prepared on Weber Grills, and even the heat lamps were fashioned with grill tops. I guess it's just a matter of aesthetic preference. After being seated, our waiter (never got his name) comes over and takes our drink order. After about 10 minutes, he goes to an incorrect table with our drinks at first, then comes to our table and drops them off. No harm, no foul. I ordered a club soda with lime, but my drink had a lemon with it. I requested a side of lime and he apologized and gladly brought me a cup of three slices of lime. Being a restaurant that prides itself on cooking on the famous Weber Grills, we felt it appropriate to order burgers and/or steaks. Dry Aged Beef, Gruyere Cheese, Smoked Caramelized Onions, Bone Marrow Bordelaise Sauce, Dijonaisse, Sesame Brioche Bun - $21 My boyfriend's order: CLASSIC BURGER Signature Blend of Slagel Farms Dry-Aged Beef, LTO, American Cheese, Brioche Bun - $17 Our waiter thanked us for our order, collected the menus, and returned a few minutes later with a bread basket with three dinner rolls. I'm sorry to be so negative, but these dinner rolls were awful. They tasted stale and were crumbly (see photo). I'd rather have no bread than bad bread. I think the restaurant should rethink having dinner rolls period, unless they want to invest in better bread. After about 15 minutes, another waiter brought our appetizer to the wrong table. After the table guests shook their head, he then dropped it off at our table. No harm, no foul... again. The egg rolls themselves were very good. The brisket inside was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. I didn't get much jalapeno in either piece that I had, but maybe that is a matter of personal preference. The bbq mayo tasted exactly like bbq sauce with some mayo in it. It wasn't bad, but I think I would've almost preferred regular barbeque sauce. We finished our app and the bread was being left untouched, but all of the dishes remained on our table (see photo). After another 15/20 minutes, our burgers were brought out. The fries accompanying the burgers were cold and underseasoned. We requested salt, which the waiter brought quickly. Now, the ONLY reason this restaurant received 3 stars from me is because of the burgers. HOLY COW. My burger was cooked a PERFECT medium rare, and my boyfriend's burger was cooked to his liking (medium well). The quality of the meat was unmatched, and the cooking on the Weber grills absolutely contributed to this being one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. I've never had bone marrow bordelaise sauce, but now I want to bathe in it. When I tell you eating this burger was a spiritual experience, I'm not lying. My boyfriend finished up his food, and I wanted a to go box for mine, but our waiter was nowhere to be found. Eventually, the shift manager came over and cleared my boyfriend's plate and I asked for a to go box. He never came back, so when our waiter finally returned, I requested a to go box again. He brought the box and the check, and my bf paid. They added an 18% gratuity, which I hate when restaurants do (and honestly, sucks to be our waiter because my bf usually tips 25% or higher). He signed and didn't leave additional tip, as our service was kind, but absent for the most part. IN SHORT: It's a step above an Applebee's. Weber Grill knows how to cook meat, but nothing else. Don't bother with sides and make sure you get a meat-based app as well. Come here if you don't mind eating next to a busy expedite line, but be prepared to have to shout at your table mates. Ask for things "in bulk" as service is slow. Despite all this, the burgers are damn good and definitely worth a try if you're in the area. I'll be getting them to go next time. read more

I made a comment about the poor service to the table early on during this dining experience and when the bill came it became obvious. They automatically added an 18% tip. I kind-of get it when you have a large table, but this was a party of three. If Weber wants to compensate the help they should raise their prices and be up front about it. Capital Grill is normally the go to and as far as I am concerned this is the last Weber experience including anything else the big company profits from. Capital Grill is far superior and doesn't play this b.s. game. And for the record T.I.P. Is in the dictionary: it means "To insure promptness". It should never be automatic. The Weber Grill is on state street and Grand and has a warm ambiance. The servers are very friendly and know the menu. Service is pretty quick and since I was past the dinner rush, I was seated immediately. The server appeared a minute later and introduced themself and asked if I was familiar with the menu and gave me the specials and soup of the day. I normally would have ordered the amazing ribs or one of the delectable steaks. Weber Grill is a reasonably priced place to get a juicy steak. Since I worked late, I did not want a steak or ribs and preferred something different. At the recommendation of my server I ordered the Big G burger and it was a great choice. It is 10oz of aged beef with Gruyère Cheese, caramelizad onions and this bordelaise sauce on a brioche bun. A power good steakhouse named, themed, and cooked around all things Weber grills. I was intrigued to come here because of the big grill hanging outside the building and didn't expect much but actually was delicious. They serve steaks, burgers, salads, seafood, and other entrees. Food I got the 14 oz, 28 day aged delmonico ribeye with truffle butter on top and it was one of the better steaks that I had during my trip to Chicago. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and had gigantic diamond grill marks to show that it was seared on a Weber grill. Nice crust and the steak was not severely burnt anywhere. The mashed potatoes were super good and buttery. I got a side of the grilled kabob vegetables to balance out the meal with some healthy foods. Warning, this dish does not come on a stick but rather the food is grilled and then served in a plate. Atmosphere The dining area can vary depending on where you are seated but there are tables as well as booths. This is not a super fancy steak house that you would have to dress up for but you could if you want. More laid back and not as fancy as other steak houses. The noise level was not too loud but could possibly get loud at times. Pricing Prices for steaks were in the middle range/average for a steak house. My ribeye was $50. The food was worth the price point that I paid. Service The service was good overall. The servers were friendly and were able to bring my food out promptly. Other Located nearby several hotels and the restaurant is on the first floor of the shopping/hotel building right on the street. I've always been curious to check out Weber Grill. We came during lunch and we received great service. They tried to pitch us their steaks, but I wasn't really trying to eat a steak for lunch. So the wife and I both opted for burgers. My wife ordered their bbq bacon burger. And I ordered their classic burger. Both burgers were tasty but nothing special. I ordered my classic burger with American cheese, medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. It came with a thick perfectly seasoned juicy patty. The restaurant was packed with a somewhat filled waiting room area. I managed to snag a table in the bar area. The staff very friendly and knowledgeable. My table was near the Huge kettle grills so I viewed the meat as it was cooked. A show in itself. I ordered the Hill Country Egg Rolls- great filling and crispy. I also had a Classic Burger that was the beef patty with cheese on a bun. A condiment on the side. No onions, lettuce or any other wild items that are now served with burgers. Came here during the week while in town for business. I ordered the classic burger and a nice local beer. First to the table was some pretzel rolls. They had a cheddar cheese butter that was served with the rolls which was unique and delicious. The burger was super delicious! Although i felt the flavor was meat was a bit bland and left me wanting more in terms of flavor, the char on the outside of the burger was UNREAL. Probably the most perfectly cooked burger I've ever had, you can really taste the grill char on the outside of the meat. I was impressed. The service was also spot-on. Went to lunch here just last Friday w a 3:30 reservation. Sadly this place has declined. The place is unkempt, the receptionist was so unenthusiastic, the server seemed in a hurry. We ordered a medium rare steak for one of the people in our party and the steak was well done and tough. It was hardly touched. When we brought it to her attention, she didn't even offer to replace it. My other friend and I had the feature fish which was overcooked as well, it tasted like jerky. The side was canned corn that looked like it was just thoughtlessly poured next to the very bland fish. We don't know what's happening but I know this is going to be our last visit. With the bill plus the gratuity that was already charged, we all felt robbed. This is a place for people who have no standards in their dining experience.
