First time back since the remodel & menu change. I was afraid the only place that served Hong Kong cafe food had ditched it. Luckily They still serve HK cafe dishes such as baked spaghetti with pork chop. The American breakfast part of the menu has expanded to include pancakes to add to the eggs & sausage. And the biggest addition is Vietnamese cuisine with pho, rice plates, & bahn mi. This is a crazy menu mash-up but it works‍. The restaurant is counter service. You order and pay at the cashier, get a number and grab a seat. The remodel interior is quite cozy. I had a sma lunch of HK milk tea and the grilled pork-Pate Bahn mi. The grilled pork was thinly sliced, well seasoned, not dry. The baguette was perfectly toasted. I would have liked a little more pate. Grilled pork with garlic noodle plate is hands down epic. Easiest place to fill your tummy up for a good price. Most rice plates are around $7-9 and other special baked dishes are around $11-12. For the portions they serve, which are extremely large, I'd say the price is really not bad at all. I always find myself taking things to go and eating it later on! I am a huge fan of their satay beef ramen and sesame chicken. The satay beef ramen isn't a soup dish, it's more of like a chow mein kinda thing. But it's really yummy. The amount of meat and rice they give on their rice plates is crazy. The portion I received last time for my sesame chicken could've easily feed at least 2 people.. Totally worth my money! This place has cheap food. And if they ever serve it above like warm. I'd gladly go back and praise its quality with a 5 star. We went there twice and the food was great. However the third time we went. Our food was barely cooked it seemed like. Didn't really think about it just ate it. Then one morning we were craving breakfast food. Went there. And served basically raw eggs. Cold everything else. Sent plate back and got the eggs warmed up a bit. But everything was still cold. The waitress just shrugged. Not out of malice but she was just too timid to respond. The price is so great and I would totally give it another try but that breakfast was so icky feeling. This place was very empty when I came into this restaurant. There were a lot of tables to sit at while inside the decor looked colorful. The menu is colorful and easy to understand and read. The biggest thing that stood out at this cafe was that you had to get up and order at the desk instead of in-seat service. The service was still great because they were attentive. I ordered the R1. Grilled Pork Fried Eggs Rice Plate which contained a lot of grilled pork, an over easy egg and rice in a perfect mound shape. It tastes great but some pieces were a little overcooked. Since I went with my parents, my parents decided to order the daily combos that were on display at our table for us to notice. The specials included the rice plate as well as a choice of soda. The waitresses offered to give us shakes for the difference in the price of the actual shakes and gave them to us for the price of the sodas. They ordered the (R2. Grilled Pork and Imperial Roll Rice Plate) and it included one imperial roll which was crunchy and flavorful. They have a surprisingly large menu with an emphasis on traditional Vietnamese meals such as bahn mi, pho, spring rolls, and much much more. I got myself the bahn mi lunch special for only $5.50, which is a great deal in San Francisco. The atmosphere is extremely welcoming and warm. The decor is very modern and clean with bright lighting and mellow music playing in the background. A little history lesson, Jojo's used to be the dive of Ingleside. They had an American diner complete wit the booths and some Hong Kong cha chang tang fusion thing going on. They closed due to a fire the night after the San Bruno fire occurred. Weeeeird coincident! They have since reopened and totally renovated the place. Look so much more clean and cozy and modern. Same food, same price, just a more cute atmosphere. You can't go wrong with anything they offer on the happy hour menu. And drinks are only $1.75 more! My favorites are french toast with an ice cream soda (ask for cream soda!). If you show up non-happy hour hours, you get the sad hour menu. :( jk The salted chicken and chicken friend rice is delicious. There's another version with scallops which is equally good. I also recommend the baked spaghetti/rice dishes with ox tail or pork chop. And I always get a dessert of cream cheese won tons that they're famous for. A lot of the stuff is super cheap and is yummy in your tummy. Their menu is extensive, there's lots of options. If you're lucky enough to get a hold of one of their yellow business cards, your meal is 15% off, dine in only. This was a promotion for their new grand opening on July 1st. 3.75 Stars Just barely missed the breakfast specials for Jojo's Cafe so my friends and I tried the dinner menu. We had chosen fried tofu with pork and minced beef over rice. For $5.25, we got more than a lot, it was super sized. I was like wow, who still makes plates this big? But I wasn't complaining. I have to come back and try the rest of their menu but my minced beef was definitely good. The minced beef was doused with oyster sauce and perfectly tender in every bite. It comes with a raw egg but the server allowed me to get a fried egg on top because I don't do too well with raw foods with being sickened twice in less than a year. The complimentary soup was nothing special and my friend didn't like his fried tofu dish. Service was really good and it is a hole in the wall but I really liked it. I thought I wrote a review for this place before as I visited whenever I need my baked Portuguese pork chops with cheese. They are not the best on the dish however, within Ingleside, they could be. I love the services. Fast, polite and quite friendly. Food always come out hot and tasty looking. The store looks clean and well organized. Their fried rice is a bit bland. They don't have Sriracha so it is hard for me to fully enjoy the dish. I had Veggie omelet this time. Nice presentation as always. Smell good. It didn't wrap as tight as I hoped for. I still find it a little hard to believe haven't gone to Jojo's Cafe. But in 2010, I came for the first time and ate lunch here with my classmate. We came in between 1 pm - 2 pm, it wasn't very crowded; we were greeted, immediately seated and given menus upon walking in. Ok, first thing first, this is not any cheap HK tea restaurant, the price is up there. My friend jokingly says this is like Hong Kong Fine Dine. However, QUALITY is also here. It's been a while i had more authentic HK rice plates and peking style pork chop rice burnt and crispy edges. Baked dishes are also stellar. (Not just any other baked dishes) Let alone HK milk tea. I am from HK and I can say this is one of the few places in the Bay Area that can remake the HK flavor that we miss. The other thing I appreciate is how they redo the HK tea restaurant with their own twist, so you can the good seating environment like a hippie cafe, but great food with flexibility of most of the ingredient you wish to add to create custom dishes. Great for gluten intolerant people like me. All in all, if you dont mind the price, this is a good place in terms of HK food and get together with friends. I'm sure the new restaurant is decent but you get 2 stars for pulling that very cruel joke. After months of eagerly waiting for them to open after their supposed "remodel", I arrive to find out that it's a whole new restaurant despite the same name. If they were honest about it and just changed the name with a new Yelp review, I'd be more excited for them. Instead, I just feel deceived. Loyal customers just had backs turned on them. Everything we loved about this place is gone. Everything. Breakfast specials? Gone. But what if you're willing to pay overprice for macaroni? You won't even have the chance to. They don't serve that anymore. Yeah, that's right. The signature dish for American HK dining disappeared. Chinese food at a Chinese place? Mostly gone. Bright atmosphere? Gone. Milk tea? Not on the menu but you can ask for it. Oh and did you want breakfast before 10am? Sorry, the new hours are set like the ridiculous folks at Skyline Cafe. If you want weekday breakfast business, you have to open before 10am. That's just a simple rule. The new hours and completely new restaurant just sent regulars elsewhere. Pretty casual HK style bistro place. Decent amount of space inside, with pretty good HK food. I ordered the baked steak over rice--the plate was hot, which was nice, and the rice underneath was actually fried rice. The portions are just right--not too much but also not too little. The amount of sauce was also just right as well, which is usually hard to get right at most other restaurants. The only downside is I was sitting next to the door, which unfortunately had a couple of flies zooming around. It's no big deal really--just a little annoying to have flies zooming behind you while you eat, but not a big deal. The menu they have is huge, with both HK style food items and Americanized chinese food as well. About half the people there order the usual Americanized food (e.g. fried rice) while the others ordered things like HK food like Spam on Ramen, so I would say this is a pretty safe place to bring your friends if you don't know what kind of chinese food they prefer. read more

JoJo's Cafe is a nice Chinese American styled diner. They have excellent service and are friendly. The food is reasonably priced and portions are fair. I'm not sure if there's any trademark "go to" dish here, so it's, to me, one of those steady reliable places to eat. I had the pork in macaroni soup, which was good, similar to chicken noodle broth, but with elbow macaroni pasta instead of noodles and pork slices instead of chicken. It was under $5 for their breakfast special. Interestingly, we were able to order some fresh home (restaurant) made gravy here at $3 per container, which helped our holiday meal we cooked at home (and forgot to make gravy for). It was savory, delicious and highly recommended (way better than anything canned, in a jar or those powder mixes you get at the market). JoJos cafe is very nice! I ordered the baked rice with tomato sauce and white sauce , a combination Vietnamese sandwich, potato fries, grilled pork with rice, and imperial rolls. The workers are very friendly and the interior is very modern and clean! The food was really good and the prices are reasonable!! My favorite dish is the baked rice, it was not too salty and the flavors were very distinct. They also serve andytown coffee and cookies! The cafe is a cafeteria style cafe, you place your order at the register and pay for it and find a table to wait for your food to come! You know, it's not as good as Golden Island or anywhere close to the Chinatown cafes, but it'll work in a pinch. Don't expect a strong Hong Kong milk tea or the classic beef noodle soups, and certainly don't expect Chinatown prices. The soups are hearty and savory, and the noodles are a classic egg noodle variety. Portions are decently sized, but you don't get the classic Hong Kong flavors. TLDR: A nice HK style canting on Ocean street with a modern feel but serves all the old classics. Food: HK style milk tea Salt and Pepper Pork Chop Have been going to Jo Jo's Cafe since high school. They remodeled and reformatted the menu but the place is still one of my favorites to get HK style food. I always get the Salt and Pepper Pork Chop. They give you a plate half with rice and half pork chop. The pork chop comes in small to medium size pieces and comes with hot green jalapenos, green onion, and garlic. The pieces are always crispy and have a good balance of fat and meat. The jalapenos, green onion, and garlic go will on top of the rice. The HK milk tea comes with a little condensed milk mixed in. They give you more condensed milk and sugar on the side to add in. This is probably my favorite part as it allows you customize the tea to your liking. The service is fast and wait staff are really nice. Ambiance: The cafe looks modern after the remodeling. Wood dominates the new styling. There are tables that can seat couples and families. There is also a high chair counter area for single people. The place is also very clean.
