Over the years I've visited many other locations and for good or bad I'm a Checkers expert! Arriving- Immediately off US Route 27 South and drive-thru and walk-up only! No inside seating. At this Checkers there is one drive-thru for App users and one for everybody else. In the App user's lane, you receive your order through the passenger window which I find slightly annoying. However, the other benefits of the app make up for it. Ambience- The only thing to discuss is the outside seating. A few sizable tables with big umbrellas to keep off the hot Florida sun. The App- The app is solid and well-designed but most importantly, it has great deals. I almost always get some kind of discount. Customer Service- Unless you live under a rock, you know they are drive-thru and walk-up only. I've found the service to be fast, especially in the App-user lane. I've never had a mistake with my order, so the folks are competent. The employees are not usually super friendly, but they are polite and efficient and I'm good with that! Food- Burgers, Chicken and their famous Seasoned Fries in a myriad of combinations. They also do occasional specials like a Cheesesteak which was not bad! On this visit I had their Big Buford which is their take on a Dbl Qtr with Cheese. I added a Seasoned Fries and no drink as I was bringing it home. It would normally go for about $10 but I paid $7 with some App discounts. See my picture. This is not gourmet food, but it was tasty, well-prepared and well-seasoned. It was a great value and I was satiated! Conclusion- So you get better than decent food quickly, at a great price and never need to get out of your car. It's an easy four stars for me!

This is an update focusing on my fine lunch so read my original review for more detail on this excellent chain. Customer service- I blew in intent on lunch to-go and moseyed up to the counter with no wait. The always smiling young lady efficiently processed my order and it was ready in about 5 minutes. Food- My go-to order here is usually three tenders with fries and slaw for $14 and change. A biscuit or role comes along for the ride. I brought this bad boy home and plated it up. That was supposed to be three tenders, but I think they went a little overboard! Now you see why I ordered the slaw. See my picture. As my cholesterol spiked in anticipation, a loosened my belt in preparation and attacked. Taste- OMG! Tender, juicy, white meat tenders with perfectly crunchy batter. Very good fries but they are consistently undercooked for about a minute. Fresh, crunchy slaw. It was several hours until I could write this update because I was comatose in my recliner! An easy 4 stars and probably 4.5. The minimal parking can get a little crazy and the fries need a little more time but that doesn't stop their legions of fans from stopping by including me. The atmosphere was that of a diner with booths and tables, a nice longer table set for a group of almost 12. Specials on the board were of lunch and I was told by our pleasant waitress Amanda, we could choose breakfast or lunch on the weekend. I got to view both menus with fair prices and noted very full plates of specials coming out. One was liver and onions with mashed potatoes piled high. The older gentleman stated, "Now this is how liver and onions should be". The whole table was pleased with many eating that and the pork chop special. We chose to have breakfast and the pancakes were huge on the combo one. Both of us chose different potatoes and both were great. If anything the sausage patty was not to my liking. I like the actual patties. My husbands bacon was great. You get about 2 eggs with the specials. Sandy who is the owner is also the cook and training upcoming cooks. The couple was both there and the waitress staff was on point and actually friendly, unlike some places, this location felt like it could be our go to. Like at home, as some local bars feel, they welcome you. We will try sometime again if we can catch the hours as we just do not get going in the AM out of the house and I never want to feel a rush getting anywhere after 1pm when I know they are closing as most all places do in Lake Placid where we live. After visiting the Culver's in Avon Park today, we were genuinely impressed. The food was delicious, but what truly stood out was the exceptional drive‑through service. When we placed our order, the employee asked for my husband's name and used it three times "Hello, Patrick," "Anything else today, Patrick?" and "See you at the window, Patrick." We have never experienced such personal service at a drive‑through. We're from Washington State, and this level of friendliness was such a pleasant surprise. After eating, we went back through the drive‑through for custard, curious whether the service would be just as good and it absolutely was. Once at the window, I checked the employee's name so he could get the recognition he deserves: Juelz. Truly the BEST drive‑through service we have ever experienced anywhere in the country. Juelz, your personality and the way you treat people will take you farther than you know.

The customers will be mostly Hispanic but a gringo like me will feel completely welcome. The Television will almost certainly be on a Hispanic channel. Note that this is one of the very few small Mexican joints that has table service! Adult Libations- Somewhere along the way they acquired a beer & wine license so be sure to grab a Corona or a Modelo to go with your meal. It will be served with an interesting bottle opener that you can see in my picture. Customer Service- Friendly and efficient and I've never had a problem. Food- A large, laminated menu with everything you would expect. Beef, chicken, pork, or shrimp, it's all there, Mexican style. I went with Carnitas served with rice and beans and a small side salad. It included my choice of flour or corn tortillas for $12.99. It was out very quickly. Delicious! The pork was moist, tender, and lightly seasoned with some sauce on the side. The rice and beans were hot and typical and tasty. The side salad was fresh, and my tortillas were nice and hot. A fine four-star Mexican meal that was very affordable. These fine folks are overshadowed by a hugely successful competitor a stones throw away. So, if you are sick of the giant Americanized Mexican places, give them a try, especially if you desire table service!

BTW- She's a real person and is on a mission to bring awesome Cuban food to Avon Park! Arriving- They are directly on Main Street where all parallel parking is free. Also, on the same side of the street, there is a free parking lot about a 5 second drive past the entrance. Hours- So many small restaurants in this area open for breakfast and lunch only. I'm delighted to say they are open for all three meals! Ambience- Yikes, this place is tiny! I'm thinking it will seat around 20 with a mix of 2-top and 4-top tables. Thankfully, they are well spaced. A nice touch was background Cuban music. Wi-Fi- It's available but only for the employees. This annoys me and other customers and Sophie needs to reconsider that decision. Customer Service- I was touched by two folks. My server was subdued but pleasant and efficient. The lady that cashed me out was friendly and I received a genuine smile and a thank you! Food- The menu is huge! If you'd like a headstart, it's beautifully presented on their website. There is Cuban, and Cuban- American food nicely organized. On this visit ordered a Three Meat Omelet with Cuban Toast @ 13.95. My omelet was one of the best I have ever had and cooked and plated with care. It was packed with savory meat and steaming hot and delicious. The Cuban Toast was perfect! Conclusion- We got a winner here! Next visit will be lunch or dinner.
