I've only had breakfast here so that is all I will comment on. It's average. I had high hopes for this place because I like diner style restaurants with a small town feel. The problem is that they employ teenagers as their servers and those servers suck. Typical for a modern day teen, rude, not responsive to requested and completely distracted when their friends show up. Oh and let me tell you, they show up and often. I probably ate at this place a dozen times when I lived in El Segundo and every time it was full of the different servers friends. The food is not good enough to offset this problem. This is why I put Wendy's Place on the "Never go to again" list a long with Uncle Bill's in Manhattan Beach. With so many places to choose from why would anyone put up with crappy service and why would any owner allow this type of service to happen. It's beyond me. If you're hungry then walk a block West and eat at Good Stuffs. Better in every way except the old diner feel. read more

My second visit to Wendy's Place was as memorable as the first. Today we sat at the counter next to Ben who has been going there a few times a week for over 10 years. He is such a fixture that his photo from 1952 is part of the decor of the restaurant. We had pancakes, French toast and a few other items. The service was great and so was the food. If you want a table, prepare for a short wait but I would recommend just sitting at the counter and meet the person sitting next to you. You won't be disappointed. read more

Best breakfast in El Segundo! If you're coming on the weekends, be prepared to possibly wait as the place is small and can get crowded, but the food's soooo worth it. I always get their sausage eggs benedict. They use a cheesy hollandaise sauce and homemade sausage patties instead of ham. The sauce is so good I usually ask for a little extra to pour on the hashbrowns. This place really makes you feel like you're eating at one of those old school coffee shops you see on tv, with all the regulars and a down home friendly atmosphere. I love this place! read more

Came in here with my hubby after dropping off my BFF at 5:30 am at LAX. Pulled up at 6:00am and the diner was still dark, but had a couple of customers sitting at the counter having coffee. The place was a hole-in-wall... the decor was a throwback from the 70s, with Norman Rockwell puzzles on the wall and food being served on chinas. A lot of old timers came in... now they know where good food's at. Okay, getting down to it. Ordered the pancake breakfast with bacon and eggs. The pancake was to die for... thin, but not as thin as crepes... hmm, what's interesting is that they're syrup was in little packets (reminds me of the cafeteria), but all in all it was delish. Bacon was crispy, just the way I like it. Hubby got the french toast breakfast and said that it was one of the best french toast he's ever tasted... the secret? Texas Toast. The hashbrowns were delicious... eggs were good. They use margarine and don't have butter for packages, toast or waffles. The coffee mugs are darling but only hold 8oz of coffee and to get the (only) waitress to come and refill the coffee- was hard and awkward at times. I felt like I was nagging her. I'd come come back only to eat the hash browns but nothing special and mostly because of the service. Sad 'cause I love the vintage hole in the walls...oh well. read more

Wendy's is absolutely the best little diner in El Segundo! My husband and I have been coming here for years, and we are never disappointed. It's the type of place where you know the servers and they know you. Jose's omelet and the grilled cheese are our favorites, so much so that we don't even look at the menu anymore! This place is fine as a hole-in-wall mom and pop eatery. Don't expect fresh squeezed juice, apple juice is actually in a kid's small juice carton. Cannot say enough about Wendy's, if you get there early during the week you get there cook as the server. Only in El Segundo they say. The decor is tired & perfect for this cafe, any newer would ruin the charm. The less than 5 stars comes because of one server, without fail on Tuesdays and some weekend days there is the NASTIEST, bitter, I hate my job waitress working. I'm not sure but have overhead some of the regulars simply dismissing her attitude "oh, it's just her way". Perhaps it is her husbands restaurant and he has to employ her; otherwise I see no way this girl could keep a job. I came here to find out what the long lines outside were all about. the hubby and i got there around 7:30 so there was no wait. Walking in is like going through a portal from the modern world to the 1960s. I ended up getting pancakes after getting food envy from someone else's plate. They were awesome and our food came out quickly. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is that it's cash only so my husband had to go across the street to an atm. I saw this lady in Lennox last year selling food from a shopping cart...she accepted cards, so there's no excuse...oh well. Overall, it was great and we'll definitely be back. read more

Eggs Benedict made with sandwich meat and a sticky cheese sauce - not edible, they should take it off the menu.

Food is good and very low-priced. My only real gripe is that they don't take card. I contemplated docking a star for that but the overall experience is good enough where I can look past it. read more

This diner did not live up to my expectations. When we first walked in we were greeted with the slight stench of compost ( Why?) I ordered a tuna melt and French fries. It took forever but was kind of worth it . I would have given the place 4 stars, if it didn't have American cheese. WHY ???????? And it has white bread . It didn't take away any flavor from the tuna the, which was impressive.Next; the fries . Did this place buy fries from the McDonald's across the street and serve them??? Geez, and that's not a complement.And one of the waitresses picked a 5$ bill from a pile of unknown goop and put it back in the cash register after wiping it of with her apron .However, they did give me extra ice for my iced tea . Wendy's Place is nothing special, just a classic "choke-n-puke" greasy diner with average food. Nothing here made me even think about coming back again. The service was decent, and I have no complaints on that front, but the food wasn't anything for me to want to go back for. Meh. Mediocre breakfast experience. I liked the old school ambiance & the girls that worked the joint. But the food was just OK. Nothing noteworthy to mention. Portions are good sized & prices are cheap but the basic ingredients they use aren't what I'd call "quality." For example, the Bagel served with my breakfast was some inferior white bread cheap-o variety & the burger patties & french fries on the bf's meal were obviously the frozen just outta' the freezer bag variety. All the same, the cook prepares what he has to work with well...its just that he doesn't seem to have much to work with back there. Nothing too out of the ordinary than other diners but it was a solid meal. I had the a sausage omelet and while it wasn't anything spectacular it did the job and I was satisfied. The place isn't large and we heard that there are waits so make sure to plan for that before heading here. read more
