All my friends that live near the area talks about how much of an old school staple this is and after trying it...I agree. What a special nugget for us to find in a sea of Asian restaurants in San Bruno! Escaping the snow and waiting for a flight, we walked into West Coast Cafe wanting comfort food. We got it!! It was my first time in San Bruno, The West Coast Cafe was recommended by the Crown Plaza San Fran Airport staff, they were not wrong as this is an amazing restaurant! I was solo that night, and the owner came to my table to chat and recommend dishes. That's​ class! My first course was the infamous West Coast Salad with Grilled and marinated seafood on a bed of fresh salad, absolutely delicious!! The ownerAnastasios​' recommendation. We have only been here twice and I find this impossible! I have twice had lamb...the first time I had the chops which though delicious were not so filling. The last time a couple weeks ago I had the lamb shank. Often when I order lamb shank it is either lukewarm, dried or both. This one was perfect-blazing hot, falling off the bone and juicy. I cannot recall what my better half had either time. The creme brulee dessert was good and the service both times was excellent. Now. Why do we not eat here more often?? read more

We absolutely love West Coast Cafe. They have ample parking located behind the restaurant (although a bit packed during lunch hours on the weekend). The restaurant is family friendly, and we love every dish we've ordered. The steaks are cooked to perfection and absolutely not dry. Their red sauce is not tangy like most places and their pasta is superb - Al dente. The restaurant is fairly quiet even when it's busy. The noise doesn't echo. The staff have all been friendly and will check on you constantly. Definitely not one thing I can say bad about them. MUST TRY!!!! read more

Me and my family have been coming here for years. Saturday night we celebrated my dad's birthday here and I felt compelled to finally leave a review! Let me just say this place was PACKED I mean not an empty seat left. That usually makes me nervous for service and quality of good but they delivered on all points. All our meals came out at the same time (party of 8) and were hot and delicious. Their chicken parm is my favorite in the entire Bay Area. It's thin, juicy, not overly breaded and the tomato sauce is so fresh! Their west coast penne pasta is also a favorite and my husband gets it literally everytime we go. The owner is the sweetest guy and always treats my parents and grandmother so lovingly. They gave my dad a free creme brûlée topped with berries and candle which is much appreciated since many places won't do that anymore. I'm a loyal customer for life! read more

I have eaten here many times in the past and it has always been a quite enjoyable experience. The food is good, the service is great, and it is sanitary and clean. However, today my experience was disappointing. My Caesar Salad tasted okay and I found a long, thick, full piece of hair buried underneath the lettuce. My aunt went to go use the napkin that they had provided and found a piece of chewed up gum inside. The sorbet and pasta were pretty good though. Overall, it wasn't the best experience tonight but it also wasn't the worst. Three stars. read more

The one downfall I have is that the name of this place doesn't let you know what type of food is served. Once inside, we were greeted by the friendly staff and seated. They offer daily specials and their menu has many delicious options. A wine list is available to enjoy with your meal. The food is five star quality and presentation is very eye appealing. Flavors are outstanding and fresh. I ordered the Pollo Parmigiana that was cooked to perfection. The vegetables and mashed potatoes were also very fresh tasting. My wife's Pollo al Lemone was also very good looking and delicious. Dessert is also top notch. The tiramisú ranks up with some of the best I've tried. For a great dinner make a stop at this gem located on the busy downtown strip. Plenty of parking is available behind the building. No outdoor seating is offered but there's plenty inside. The servers were pleasant and knowledgeable about their menu and our meals arrived quickly. My Aunt is very sensitive to dairy and the serve was able to give her several options from the excellent menu. We were very happy to return and find West Coast Cafe still going strong! We were seated right away. We were served water, then drinks. Our soup came with bread and the entrees came within a reasonable amount of time. We were asked if we wanted more bread. We said yes. 3/4 of the way through our dinner we had to call another server to ask for the bread and a drink refill. The other server brought the drink and said the bread was on the way. We had to ask our server a THIRD time for the bread that we said we wanted when were asked. Then the server seemed to ignore us for the rest of the meal. It's a very homey Italian restaurant with the vintage decor, old wooden chairs, and white tables. Definitely a very perfect quaint dinner type of place. The food was pretty good. We had the bruschetta and the topping was flavorful. I had the Pasta Primavera which was very refreshing. It was fettuccine sautéed with vegetables, garlic and olive oil. I appreciate that it wasn't too filling and one of the healthier options. My boyfriend had the lasagna and it looked like a really good portion and super cheesy. Went here today for lunch. I ordered the fettuccine della nonna, and a creme brulee for takeout. To my surprise, the man who took my order said it would take about 3-4 minutes, which was great! Its very rare that I get food that would take less than 5 minutes to receive. And boy the taste was pretty decent too! The pasta was good, (not salty) even without the Parmesan cheese mixed with the pasta. The creme brulee was actually the best tasting creme brulee I ever had in recent years. I didn't even need to eat the top of the caramel, to make the yellow part of the creme brulee taste even better. Nice interior inside, with some photos on each side of the wall. Great place to take a date. It can on and off be a pain to come here, because some days, they can be blocking san mateo avenue, or several blocks of the street, or even some parts of the parking lot, because they are doing construction..
