I needed a grand piano (with its "spider" dolly) moved from one location to another (think 15 steps down), and also a large upright piano at the second location moved to a lower level (via outside entrances, thankfully no steps). I had checked with 4 piano moving companies, and West Coast was very reasonably priced and had a conveniently short wait schedule. I had already heard that Taylor was very good to work with. She gave me an exact estimate and 3-hour window for the day that worked for me. Came the day, and Darien contacted me about their arrival time, which was within the first half-hour of the window. He and Isaiah were friendly and very professional about the way they worked. They were very careful to disassemble and blanket wrap the grand and maneuver it flawlessly down the stairway to the truck lift. I met them at the destination, where they set up the grand and its spider, then very carefully hand-lifted the like-new full-sized upright onto a dolly and transported it by truck to the lower floor. During the whole process, they were such a pleasure to work with--THEY being the hard workers. The pianos had been handled perfectly, Darien and Isaiah were tipped well, and I would not hesitate to recommend West Coast to anyone in need of professional piano transport. read more

Fellow pianists and musicians, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY TL;DR: The company is unprofessional, causing damage to our piano and refusing to fix everything they broke. This isn't a hateful comment. I take full responsibility for all accusations. The movers flipped my Yamaha N2 Hybrid grand piano upside down without any protection, resulting in multiple deep scratches on the top and music stand during pick up. Thinking these would be the only damage, we decided to stomach $300 off from the moving charge at pickup because all we cared about was the piano to be moved from Oregon to California. We wouldn't imagine more "surprises" would occur at delivery. This was the second mistake we made. The first and biggest is obviously working with this company at all from the start. Their careless, unprofessional handling also caused the speakers to fall off and stuck on the actions. leaving the keys unplayable upon delivery. The speakers were also badly dented, needing replacement The worst nightmare continues with the incident. They have been nothing but uncooperative, irresponsible, and deceiving. After a week of endless searching for a qualified technician, we finally had a technician come to our place and found out the keys were stuck because of the fallen speakers and damage to those. Just when we thought thing would finally be resolved after the technician told us he'd request the replacement parts from Yamaha and bill the moving company directly since he told us it was clearly from the move, we received this email from the office manager. The office manager called the "issue resolved" when "the piano has sound coming out". We'd thought it's common sense that pianos are delicate music instrument but didn't know their bar was as low as "making a sound" They falsely accused "could have fallen off at any point during any kind of movement". Well, we happen to record lessons with this piano and have recordings throughout the past years proving the piano plays well and isn't moved one bit until by this company. Unfortunately this was the intellectual and professional level this company has to offer and we have to deal with. We are in the process of pursuing legal resources to get our justice. There isn't a single day after the move that we don't self-reproach for conducting business with them. We hope this review can save others from what we went through. read more

I've never considered moving to be an easy, stress free experience, but working with Dan and his team at West Coast Moving and Storage was exactly that. They were very easy to book. We had separate teams, one for our piano, and then another for moving everything else. We decided on 2 trucks with 4 movers, and it was the best suggestion they had for us. On moving day, Dan and his team showed up on time, and quickly got moving, protecting the floors, walls, and our furniture. Everything we had was treated as if it was their own stuff. They finished in about the time we had expected. You could tell this team worked together regularly, as they all got along well, helped each other out, and worked very efficiently. I used West Coast Moving a few years ago when I purchased my new piano and really appreciated the two men who delivered it. Naturally I wanted to use them again. A few weeks ago I hired them again to move my piano. Sadly this time it was a bad experience for both me and my piano which now has a chip on the side and bottom area, and there are scratches from the mover's jackets. For some reason this time they did not put blankets on it, they did not strap it to the dolly while moving it out of the house, and it appeared they moved and strapped it into the truck on its side. The manager agreed to send a technician out to fix the damaged they caused. This hasn't happened yet. The first tech. never contacted me. The second one has yet to stick to a scheduled time. I worry they really do not have any intention of fixing the damage. Because my piano was so poorly treated (man-handled) I did ask for a partial refund. Sadly this company does not want to take any responsibility or accountability for damaging my piano. The manager talked over me, interpreted me, and started most of his comments with, "I'm not saying you're lying, but...." It is sad and disheartening they do not want to make this right. My wife and I purchased a cute little piano on Craigslist, and hired West Coast Piano to move it from its old home in Hillsboro to our rental home in Portland. We hired them because our landlord is very concerned about the state of the house, and we wanted to avoid damage to our home and floors by trying to move a piano in on our own. Initially, the move went smoothly, and the guys moved the piano itself cleanly into our home (no mean feat considering our door situation). Unfortunately, one of the movers didn't take care with our finished wood floor. He put the metal-footed piano bench down on the unprotected floor (there was a carpeted area just a few feet away where he could have moved it), which someone dragged (assuming this was movers, as we hired them to move these things, and no one else interacted with these things during the move) across the floor. This dragging created a long gouge in our wood floor, which we discovered after they had left. "No problem, we thought, we'll just call them and talk to them about it." So we promptly called West Coast Piano to address the damage and make the situation right, but just got a voicemail and a request to leave a message. We left a message, and were ignored. We're now going to have to pay $800 to refinish the floor of our rental, as our landlord has made it clear that any damage will require a refinish. We won't be using West Coast Piano again. read more

West Coast Piano Moving moved my piano today!! Not only were they on time, they called me and asked me if they could come early! Definitely the opposite from the cable guy, right? I hired them to move a small console piano from one Portland location to another about 15 miles away - and I was very glad I did!! In the past, I've rented U-Haul trucks and begged/bribed friends with pizza and beer. The process was always nerve-wracking and not worth the small savings. NIGHTMARE OF A COMPANY TO DEAL WITH. Not only did they completely screw up the day of our move, failed to return phone calls and told us "their guys were stuck in Eugene and they didn't know they wouldn't show up" so this Company had to hire a competitor to come get our stuff hours in to the night. I was still at the hospital with our baby that was born and zero communication from them. Then we were told by the GM, Jason Washington, that they would cover the $200 fee for the inconvenience. This was back in June. Now for 6 months they have sent us threatening letters that they're going to take us to collections despite NO ONE from their company calling us back. Absolute cowards. At this point we will be pursuing legal action against they illegal activities. read more

They quoted her for a full house move, including a piano, despite her having less than a full room of furniture. In our recent move we had West Coast Piano Moving and Storage move our upright grand piano. Our new house is built on a slope so the main floor is on the second level. The movers had to navigate 15 steps with a 90 degree turn in the middle in order to get the piano in place. The two works on the job took extra care to ensure nothing was damaged on our property or the piano. They communicated clearing from the first inquire call on pricing through to the followup call after the job was complete. We had a mixup on possession time for our move which came up while the piano was already in transit to the new location. The office staff offered to store the piano free of charge and re-deliver on a different day. This was going above and beyond and it saved a ton of frustration on move day. Hello. I just used West Coast Piano Movers to move my baby grand piano from my Happy Valley home to a condo near Portland. Wyatt and Brian did a great job. They had given a 4 hour window when I booked the move, this morning called to say they were 1/2 hour away and came on time. They worked quickly and wrapped every piece from legs to bench in big quilts. On the other end two more guys joined them as there were stairs involved. In no time my piano was back together and sitting in its new home. The movers were very helpful and took great care. Price was reasonable for all involved. I had been quoted based on 15 stairs and when they used a better parking area with less steps, they quickly adjusted my bill downward. These guys were great! I called them that morning, and they agreed to move my piano from where I bought it, to my home. They arrived 10 minutes early, and had my piano moved out and into the truck in minutes. They made it look so easy!! It was during rush hour traffic, and they arrived at my home only ten or fifteen minutes after I did. They put my new piano exactly where I wanted, and even took the organ I was replacing at no extra charge. I didn't get a bench with my piano, so they took a picture of it so they could match it to a seat back at their store. I'm going to go see what they have found for me in just a few days. They said that they had a lot of seats, and I could probably find one for only $10.00 or $15.00. The whole thing went very smoothly, without much effort on my part. I felt very comfortable knowing that they specialized in piano moving, as compared to most other places I saw online which didn't specialize and probably didn't know much about them.
