    Rocky Mountain Oysters
    Janet N.

I ate here twice during a recent trip to Denver. I had the chicken fajita salad and the trail boss burger. The salad was good, not great. They use Napa cabbage as the base and it felt like they didn't dry it well after washing the lettuce. My salad was pretty wet. The burger was fantastic! The bacon was thick and perfectly cooked. I love goat cheese on a burger and the tomato marmalade added a nice tang. On my 2nd visit, my friend and I shared the Rocky Mountain Oysters appetizer because when you're in Colorado you have to have them! They're lightly breaded and fried, so they have a nice crunch. The horseradish dip is tasty! Service was excellent both visits! They kept my iced tea glass refilled and were quick with anything I needed. I also liked that their outdoor patio is on the 16th street mall, next to a street that's closed to cars, so you don't get a ton of car traffic and fumes. Instead you can people watch and enjoy the pretty sky art while you eat.

Picked here to try Rocky Mountain Oysters $16.5. A local delicacy, the "oysters" are actually cow testicles and a cattle rancher food. The oysters here are chopped small and very seasoned, so you taste more of the batter. No gameyness (tho my tolerance for gameier meat is high). The osyster were chewy after u get past the batter, and mostly tasted lemony (before squeezing the sliced lemons). I did absolutely enjoyed the Peruvian sweet peppers they threw on top. First time having them! Not only are they cool looking, they do taste sweet with a peppery smell! Chicken Fried Elk $21 The Elk patty here is more tender than expected and tasted like a mix between pork and beef. It went well with the savory, mashed, skin on potato on the bottom, and the over easy eggs. The dish overall, however, was too salty. Service was friendly. Note - there's a 3.5% percent surcharge and it is stated on the menu itself... Don't think it is avoidable by paying cash bc part of the reason for it is to compensate staff that don't get tipped. Either way, I generally prefer the restaurant to just rise their price instead of pinning a surcharge.

The location is nice. Right on the Main Street, and we got a table so we could people watch while eating dinner. The chicken potpie was very good. Highly recommend anyone try if they eat here. The salad was okay. The chicken on it really saved it. It was very well cooked and delicious.

Ordered from here via Grubhub. The burger and fries were absolutely delicious! Green chili was just okay. The chocolate cake was really good but I didn't like the pumpkin seeds on it. Here's my funny though and a sign of good service. On the order I asked for some ketchup for the fries. I received several packets as well as a half full bottle. Lol. Thanks for the ketchup.

Ambiance 3 for loudness, 4 for theme Service 4 out of 5 - service was friendly but slow Food 4 out of 5 I had chicken pot pie at the recommendation of our server. It was very good, but lacked salt/pepper which was easily remedied. Another in our group really liked the short rib stroganoff. They have an interesting menu with a wide variety of drinks and food options.

We ate here before seeing a show at the Paramout. I loved this place before when it was Marlowe's (MANY year ago!) so maybe I went with high expectations? The building itself is beautiful so there is a star for that and the cowboy art on the wall. We ordered some whiskey drinks that did not dissapoint. The Peacemaker is very booz forward, while the Big Blue Bear is milder. Our service was nice and quick. We decided to start with an app of Artichoke dip. It came out in a skillet, but was not very hot. The cheese on top was not melted and I had to use a knife and fork to cut it up rather than dip bread in it. It was tasty all the same but would have been much better and more enjoyable had it been thorougly cooked. This put us off a bit, so we opted to skip the entree and go straight for dessert. The Burbon Peach Crumble is also served in a skillet, and - you guessed it - also lukewarm. It made for a very dense hard to spoon out experience. If it had been hot like one would expect in a skillet, I believe it would have been better. The photos on their website look really great and the two dishes I mentioned look like they are cooked much better than what we recevied. Maybe we just had an off night, I am not sure. I am uncertain if we are up for trying again....

I walked in without a reservation and was seated right away. The staff was really friendly and we had a bit of small talk before I ordered my food. I got the short rib stragonoff, which was recommended to me as a customer favorite. I liked it - the meat was very tender and had a good ratio to the pasta and sauce. One thing to note: this restaurant automatically added a restaurant impact surcharge of 3.5% to my bill without my knowledge. This seems to be somewhat common among restaurants in Denver but is something to look out for.

Thanks to Yelp reviews we checked this place out. We were seated and greeted right away. Our server was a sweetheart. I forgot his name but he said he's usually behind the bar but he picked up this extra shift. Lucky us. He was very informative about the area and gave us some tips of what to do. I ordered the pumpernickel Reuben and substituted grilled asparagus for the fries. Worth the $2 upcharge. Service was great, atmosphere trendy, and anywhere that plays country music is a plus in my book.

What an amazing place this was that I stumbled upon. The service here was top notch above par all the way around. The server was on point each time and ensured we never ran out of anything. The food was cooked to absolute perfection. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the weather and ended up sticking around a few hours for some drinks after dinner. Definitely would come back here again and again and again

    Cup- Pork Green Chili

I came back to try the fancy $20 for 8 big Campfire Wings and a few other things I missed last time. The wings were cooked right, and the BBQ sauce was thick and proper. I wish I had tried the Hot wings though because these were mild and the dill ranch dressing was watery and thin. I also ordered a cup of Colorado Chili AND a cup of Pork Green Chili. The Colorado was standard and mild. Fresh, but I needed to add salt for flavor , which is fine. The Green Chili was thick and had more flavor, but this review is a note to my future self to not order these chili's again. I like this place, and the service is good, so I'm sure I'll be back, but I'll get sriracha or Tabasco to go with it then.

Good food! We ended up trying all the deserts on their menu. The chocolate cake and the carrot cake were the winners. Although very heavy and rich, they were delicious! The interior of the restaurant is v well done!

    Green Chili Fried Chicken Sandwich
    Brittney W.

West Saloon hit all the right notes for a casual, satisfying meal. I ordered the Green Chile Chicken Sandwich with a side salad, and both were genuinely delicious. The salad was fresh, crisp, and way better than your typical "just‑because" side--thoughtful toppings, good texture, and a dressing that actually had flavor. The Green Chile Chicken Sandwich was the real standout. The chicken was tender, the green chile added just the right amount of heat and smokiness, and the whole thing came together in that perfect comfort‑food way that makes you want to take your time with every bite. The vibe was relaxed and welcoming, and the food felt like it was made with care. West Saloon is definitely one of those spots you're happy to stumble into and even happier to return to.

The food was amazing! The service slow and unfriendly. We had the spinach dip 7.5/10 little heavy but tasty. The wings 10/10 if you like Smokey these were incredible. Fajita salad 8.5/10 has a Spivey kick to it but so good. Chilli 9/10 it' has large Chunks of beef very good! Service was slow and the server barely checked on us.

Yes! I am here now so asked.. and there is an elevator that goes to the downstairs bathrooms!

Is there parking for this restaurant?

There are off street and parking garage options for the 16th St Mall. If you are ordering take out, or have passenger loading needs, our front door is located on the Glenarm side of our corner and has a designated zone for such uses.

By now, average foodies have experienced what Culinary Dropout is all about and yet I humbly and honestly admit the fact that I was a virgin until I for the first time experienced it today on July 16, 2026. In a way, it was like celebrating a super belated birthday of someone I know. This Denver location is rightfully located in this one of the newly developed residential areas that used to be a desert (lol!!) With a blink of an eye, all sorts of businesses popped up within the last 5-10 years or so. First and foremost, what a spacious restaurant this is! Very modern with some casual sense but upscale at the same time. All 5 of us were taken all the way back to the u-shaped booths that is at the "Converse sneaker" decorated wall near the restrooms. Our waiter was John. His impeccable friendliness with expert-level server skills was quite notable. His timeliness in giving us a moment or two so we could decide what to drink/eat, checking back on us to see how everything was tasting etc. was almost AI-driven accuracy. For food and drinks, I am just going to speak just for myself. I got... -Vida Verdita which is a non-alcoholic cocktail that has a good amount of kick in it with pineapple with green appearance and -Roasted Salmon; the portion is a bit small and yet overall it tasted good with perfect medium-ness. Vida Verdita is one of the best NA drinks I've ever had in a while. This minimal consequence beverage is $9 as of mid-July 2026. If you want to steer clear of being drunk but want some energized push to get your night going then I highly recommend this NA drink. Roasted Salmon, on the other hand, was lacking exceptional quality for the price of $31. It wasn't bad as it was prepared in the perfect medium texture but I found it a bit boring so if spending $30+ on a mediocre plate is your pet peeve, then this "run of the mill" dish should be avoided. I feel that they should add more ingredients such as broccolini (yes, something green (not just some cilantro leaves) needs to be added to the plate.) In conclusion...did I walk away being super impressed after dining at Culinary Dropout Denver tonight? No, not really. And yet I wasn't disappointed either. Overall, my experience tonight sits somewhere between 3.5 and 4 star level. It was an occasion for our monthly "girls' get-together" and it's my understanding that we will meet at this place next month again. I will thus explore more on the menu by trying something different.

The masa birria, diver scallops, and grilled artichokes and asparagus were all great too. He'd caught it in passing conversation, not because he was hovering. That's a hard balance to strike and he nailed it all afternoon. The drinks were great. Nothing fancy on my end, a bloody mary, a shaken screwdriver. Not too strong or weak. Sounds simple, but a lot of bartenders can't consistently hit it! It sits conveniently near the Convention Center, possesses a polished dining room, and harbors ambitions that deserve encouragement. On the Fourth of July, however, time itself wandered off to watch fireworks. Six coworkers and I arrived for our 7:30 reservation. We were seated immediately at a comfortable table in the back. The dining room was only about two-thirds full, which made the evening's upcoming mystery all the more impressive. That prompt seating, as it turned out, was the fastest thing that would happen to us all night. Our server greeted us, took drink orders, and brought out some warm Parker House rolls with Amish butter, alongside a bowl of French onion soup. This part was good. The rolls were soft; the soup was rich and comforting. Spirits were high. We ordered our entrees. Then the clocks stopped. Twenty minutes passed. Then forty. Then an hour. At first, we assumed our meals required extraordinary craftsmanship. Perhaps each potato was receiving a heartfelt, individual farewell before being mashed. Maybe the cows for our burgers were being transported from the farm where they source their meat in Wyoming fresh to order. But then we noticed something unsettling: nearly every table around us was waiting, too. Plates were strangely absent across the entire room. We had all been trapped inside an intermission with no second act. Our server, looking more exhausted with every trip from the kitchen, assured us our meals had "just been fired." I believed that he believed it. Ten more minutes drifted by. Our dinners finally appeared roughly ninety minutes after we had ordered. I felt bad for the man. He stayed friendly and professional while serving as the lightning rod for a kitchen catastrophe he had nothing to do with. Sometimes the person carrying the bad news is the one who deserves the most sympathy. The food, at least, tried its best. One of us couldn't stop talking about how excellent the pork chop was. Another declared the salmon outstanding. Three of us ordered the Brush Creek Wagyu burger. Mine arrived a perfect medium-rare. The other two, ordered medium, arrived practically mooing. But after waiting an hour and a half, nobody had the stomach to send them back into the void. They just ate their rare meat and kept quiet. To the restaurant's credit, our server chopped twenty-five percent off the bill without us having to ask. It was a decent, quiet gesture. It acknowledged that the evening had gone entirely off the rails. Corinne clearly has potential. The location is great, the space is nice, and when the food actually makes it to the table, it's mostly quite good. I suspect we simply wandered in on a spectacularly bad holiday evening. Even so, a ninety-minute wait and some undercooked burgers are hard to ignore. I hope our night was the exception, but I'm not entirely sure I'd gamble my evening to find out.

Additionally, our server, Ryan C. went above and beyond and sat down with us to accomodate dietary restrictions for my brother in law and was very thorough with what he could offer for alternative food options. His quality of service was exceptional and was greatly appreciated. Sitting on the patio was a vibe as well and is an excellent place to grab drinks. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great spot in Five Points.

After reading other reviews and checking out photos beforehand, I knew the Colorado lamb was a must-order. It's not something I usually go for, but it ended up being my favorite dish of the night. Absolutely worth the hype. We also ordered the birria short rib and hickory smoked picanha, and both were solid choices. The shrimp and corn grits were amazing, and I really loved the aged cheddar mac and cheese. Other dishes like the chickpea croquettes and the chili relleno were also pretty good and rounded out the meal nicely. The wait staff was fantastic. Super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself has a cool, lively vibe. The only minor downside was that the outdoor heaters were a bit too hot, but that's a very small nitpick. Overall, an easy 5 out of 5 stars. Great food, great service, and a place I'd happily come back to.

We looked over the menu and decided on the "Holla" Peña Lollipoppas. Bacon wrapped shrimp lollipops stuffed with cream cheese & jalapeño, served with a raspberry jalapeño jam. Yes, please! This was the perfect snack to keep us going on our day's adventures. the shrimp and bacon went well together, the filling gave it the popper flavor and that hit of sweet from the jam brought it all together. I would like to come back again to try some other items on their menu. Most excellent stop.

I don't want to say our server was slow, but she wasn't really present, and thus our service was slow/off. I love the chicken sandwich here with the buffalo sauce, but there was almost zero buffalo sauce on it this time. The fried parts all fell off while trying to eat, and so I was left with a normal chicken sandwich. One bright spot was the egg rolls, as always, and the buried fries. I love Brutal Poodle, but the other night was an off night for sure.
