We were drawn to Whiskey Business because of the rooftop, but I wasn't impressed. We had a large group and came on a weeknight. It wasn't busy, but the service was very slow. The crowd is mixed, probably because the decor is confusing. It's not clear to me if it's a cocktail lounge or sports bar, but the ambiance was not upscale or trendy. The cocktails were too sweet and the food was average. I did enjoy the fries... it's always fun to try different flavored sauces. The beers were small (not full pints). Overall, the value was poor, but if you're looking for a rooftop with TVs, I think this might be your spot! read more

I was dying to go to a whisky business but my visit was just bad timing. The rooftop was closed for a "private party" but there was no party. It seemed to be the after work spot because the crowd was made up of large groups of you professionals (seemingly coming from work) I drink I had was a Frosé and it was good. Getting whiskey here would be risky business (ha!) The prices for a pour of any of their whiskey offerings is among the highest I have ever seen in the city. I was shocked. While this place has an extensive whiskey list, you can't enjoy it in good conscience. I was shocked again when a whiskey neat came back with a huge handful ice. In the end, I believe this bar's name is just a catchy name. I've been here a few times on sunny Saturdays to watch college football on the roof. Now don't get me wrong...when it comes to bars in the neighborhood, this is still one of the most fun places, especially when the rooftop is open. Unfortunately, I had to decrease my rating of the place due to the decrease in food taste quality. Recently, the bar changed their menu and I can't say for the better. In my prior review, I raved about the juicy chicken and about the freshness. That did not appear to the case this time around. The size of the tenders not only decreased significantly but they were so dry. The buffalo sauce was underwhelming and slightly salty. They also added tacos to their menu. We ordered the smoked chicken tacos and were pretty disappointed. They were extremely dry. They come with a bacon crema, but that sauce did not provide any "moisture." Even their fry bar has fallen in quality. I used to love that they had choices in fries. Now they have regular skinny fries that are nothing special. I will still come to drink here because the drinks and staff are pretty awesome, but am not dying to eat here anytime soon. read more

Last night my boyfriend and friends went up to the rooftop to play curling. No one was intoxicated, everyone was just there to have a good time. One member of the group accidentally set a cup of water close to the edge of the table and it fell off. The bouncer proceeded to berate the group, let us finish our game of curling, and then FREAK at us after we finished our game escorting us out. He ripped souvenir cups we paid for out of our hand and threw them out, despite the fact they were empty and told us we couldn't even wait for the whole group in the lobby. If I could give this bar 0 stars I would. First of all the service was horrendous. I've been a waitress for many years and she checked all the boxes of what NOT TO DO. Our waitress was rude and had an attitude the entire time. We ordered 3 shots of Don Julio and they tasted like actual shrimp. I never like to complain but had to bring this up to her attention because the taste of shrimp in our mouth was so bad it was hard to ignore. Our waitress said she talked with the manager about the shots and she said word for word "I talked to my manager and we didn't put the shots in the kitchen today" She also said they could only take 2 of the 3 shots off our bill. HA She also asked more than once how we wanted to split up the bill. We weren't done drinking and asked her if she was kicking us out. I asked for an itemized bill and her attitude continued to get worse. While we were walking away after closing out she says in such a rude tone "sorry our prices were too expensive for you" If I could take back my 20 percent tip I would. Came here on Wednesday and they were out of most of their whiskey brands. Basil Hayden's, McCallan and Whistle Pig just to name a few. Tried going back again on Saturday and they made everyone on the rooftop leave at 10:30 without any reason. I was hoping their inventory had been filled but didn't get the chance to experience. 2 stars because Mhegan worked hard and had to keep telling me they were out of stuff. read more

Came here for brunch a few weeks ago. I loved their roof top. Very interesting concept. They play some good hits in the background so you can listen to some music while enjoying your food. I would recommend getting the blue frozen drink they have. I forgot it's name, but it's absolutely delicious. The food here is decent. Put on sun screen if you're going to spend some time on the roof top. Their isn't much protection from the sun's rays up there. read more

Oh Whiskey Business. Long story short my homegirl makes a reservation for a 30th birthday brunch on the rooftop. We wanted to take advantage of their mimosa brunch package with enough space to accommodate our large group. Well! We arrive, there's no hostess at the door, we get upstairs and can barely catch a waitress to get seated. Finally we get seated only for Tony the manager to announce the Main cook called off and they have no food. No food. The only reason I didn't rate them negative stars is due management allowing us to bring in Harold's ( we needed to eat) and the waitress service with our drinks was quick. Needless to say, I wouldn't take this place seriously for any event. Take your money elsewhere. read more

My friends and I came here on a Friday evening to get a quick bite and drink. It was about 8:30pm and we had to sit at the bar since they were booked with reservations. It was weird because the tables have the reservation name and time, so we were originally sat at a table that had a reserved sign for 7:30pm and then we were asked to move to the bar. So they sat us at a reserved table that was reserved an hour prior... but on to the food: The fries were decent, they were well seasoned. For being named a "fry bar" I would think the fries would be amazing, or have more variety of fries like the dipping sauces. I tried the garlic mayo and the chipotle mayo, nothing out of the ordinary. My friends ordered the elote fries, which was a big portion! The taste was good but with all the toppings it made the fries soggy. We also ordered the frozen Jake and Coke, which sounded amazing but was suuuper strong. People were right about the music, it was a mix of top hits but all from different times and genres... Overall I would come back here but I know not to expect anything amazing read more

We reserved ski chalets for a morning after wedding brunch. Such a hidden gem. It's mix and match bottomless so bloodys, Beer, and mimosas. The food was good. The staff went out of their way to make us feel celebratory including a great cook named Sergio who sacrificed the kitchen's speaker and our server Courtney who was on top of topping off classes. We made a reservation for 15 people and paid a 100 dollar deposit. Upon arrival the staff was surprised we were here. We were seated all squished together with one tiny table for everyone to share. Some of us had to sit on a bench that was broken and slanted downwards and we were slipping off. The worst part is we were about 3 1/2 feet away from the table and half of us had to eat in our laps. The poor waiter who only worked here for a week did not know what to do, which isn't his fault but the manager was rude and unhelpful. She said it was our fault for only reserving one table even though the reservation said it would be able to seat our party. How were we to know the table situation would be so crazy. read more

I just got a small fry which is classily called twice fried potatoes, I believe. The side of chipotle ranch was my choice of dip and it was a great choice. I went here for bottomless brunch on a Saturday morning and it was AWESOME!! We sat on the rooftop and it was beautiful out. They played great music and the music was loud so it was like a rooftop party! Even though the drinks were bottomless, they were still really good. Personally, i enjoyed the mimosas and bloody Mary's the most. For my meal I had the chicken and waffles, which were delicious!!! The waffles are chipotle bacon waffles and I was a little skeptical at first but they were so good with the chicken on top. My friend got the steak and eggs. The steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned well and the eggs were also amazing. I also heard great things about the avocado toast. Overall, this is an awesome place to go to brunch with a big group of friends to start your day off right! read more

I might be alone on this, but when I see a place that is labeled as a 'Whiskey bar', I think to myself: okay, so this is a bar full of elegant and class. A spot to wind down after a hard day's work, still in your business professional work attire, looking for a new scotch to try (neat, of course). I've passed by this place multiple times. I love Wicker Park, it's hipster, but I love it. Why I thought this place would be any different and stick out like a sore thumb with its crowds, I don't know, but when I walked through those doors one Saturday night, my fantasy about Whiskey Business came to an unfortunate, screeching, abrasive end. Man, this place is just like ANY other bar in Wicker Park. That's not particularly a bad thing to say, but I guess I just had different expectations and that it was generally going to be a place to wind down and end the night on a peaceful, conscious note. In hindsight, it was Saturday night so I suppose my thoughts steered the opposite way of general logic, but nonetheless, my stance on the bar treading near the left of the line. Nothing really new to talk about, it's a bar and grill. They emphasize the quality of their fries, as they should; they're alright. Bunch of 20something year olds all over the place with a standard DJ playing standard top 40s from the past 10-15 years or so, with some TVs displaying various sports. There's a second floor that I didn't check out, but I guess it's much more of a club scene than the ground floor. One thing I really liked about this place, was their long list of whiskeys, and not just standard stuff you'd find at the liquor store, but there were bottles I've never even heard of from areas all over the world. I had a glass of one called Monkey Shoulder, and while it was a bit rough on my end (not much of a whiskey drinker, but I do enjoy it), it was not the most overbearing drink I've ever had (that probably goes to Wild Turkey 101...ugh). Would I come here again? Honestly, I don't know. I really wanted somewhere to kind of wind down and this place didn't do it for me. I don't think it's a bad bar at all, it just didn't fit my needs at that moment. At least now I know of a spot that has some delectable whiskeys to try. I would say the "Movie Night" at Whiskey Business is a complete fail, and waste of money. The wait staff was fine, but everything else was wack af! The TVs are damaged, so the movie looks horrible. The chairs are harder af. Also, the "complimentary" popcorn is salty af, and comes in a pizza puff wrapper. We didn't eat before because we assumed that the popcorn would be bigger, our mistake. They did have an impossible burger on the menu, but we could see that all of the other food being ordered looked like standard bar food, so we passed. I would also suggest not using the headphones they give you and just try to listen to the movie over the bar patrons because the headphones are trash. I did order an old fashion which was too sweet, and came in one of those cups you get from a water fountain filled with ice. read more

I really do enjoy whiskey business. they have a great mix of people, decent but a little overpriced drinks and a fun atmosphere overall. I have definitely had hit or miss service at the bars, but when I have a server it's been better. My boyfriend and I went on Valentine's Day and rented a "ski lodge". We had SO much fun. Unfortunately the heater wasn't much of help and we were freezing our butts off. Also the Nintendo game wasn't working to begin with. They also forgot to give us our ID back after the rental which was inconvenient. But the lodge was so cute and had such cozy decorations I wish it was up all year long! read more

After I posted this review, a person from their media team reached out and offered to connect me to the general manager. I forwarded them my boyfriend's contact number and they were very helpful and apologetic over this incident. Like I said in my original review, everyone else was very nice except the bartender we just happened to deal with. I am very glad we are getting our refund and I can finally move on from this because it has been on my mind since we left that day. I wish the manager at the time would have just let us deal with the gm in the first place, then this mess wouldn't have occurred. My suggestion is if ever there is an incident, leave first, then call and ask to speak to the actual person in charge to resolve the problem. Like most places of business it all depends on who you talk to. I still stand by what I say about the general atmosphere and that they have a cool patio. read more

Came with my Friday's on a Sunday for brunch. They have for $25 bottomless bloody Mary's or mimosas or beer mosas and you can change em up. Pretty awesome! I had the chilaqilas and they were pretty decent. Not spicy at all. Bright colorful tortilla chips. We stayed in the cabin. It was 90s style and apparently apparently an hr in the cabin will set ya back $125 but it's alright with a group not to bad. We played Nintendo. My only complaint would be it was hella cold!! They have a little heater but not enough heat was coming through and while they blankets I'm weirded out about using a blanket that's not my own. Overall the food and drinks were fantastic, our cabin even came with a s'mores bar and our served Courtney was freaking awesome!! Overall it was a great experience.
