As we were walking in I noticed a nice outdoor waiting area. We walked in and a friendly hostess greeted us. I noticed that the restaurant had lots of seating with a large bar area. The hostess sat us down quickly and then we waited. We didn't wait too long but it wasn't lunch time busy yet. After a few minutes we were greeted by a really nice waitress. She did a great job answering our questions and checked on us through out. For a starter we ordered the Roasted Garlic Hummus which comes with a few pita pieces and fresh veggies. For my main dish I ordered the Chicken and Cheese Melt which comes with chicken, bacon, cheese, tomato, sprouts, and mayo on sourdough bread. The waitress asked if I wanted avacado with it and I said yes. It comes with a choice of French Fries or Kettle Chips. I chose to have the Fries that came with a side of Ketchup. My husband ordered the Chicken and Waffle which comes with a waffle, chicken tenders, sunny side up eggs, a side of syrup and gravy. The Hummus was good. It had a hint of spice to it. The pita pieces were warm and the veggies were fresh. Both my husband and I enjoyed sharing this starter. The Chicken and Cheese Melt was good. All of the ingredients combined were fresh and yummy. My only complaint was that I really couldn't taste the cheese. The fries were good. I'm not big on this type of fry but these fries had a crispier exterior and the seasoning added a little flavor. I enjoyed eating the fries with the Ketchup. The Ketchup was tangy and tasty. It had mustard seeds in it which added flavor to it. It was definitely different than regular ketchup in a positive way. I tried my husband's Chicken and Waffle. The chicken was good. It was very moist on the inside and crispy and on the outside. This was my second time at Whiskey Cake (the first time for dinner and this time for brunch) and I was just as impressed as I was the first time! The service has been great both visits, the food matches the price in terms of quality and quantity, and everything is delicious! I'm not a big drinker so I can't speak to any of the cocktails but they seem to have great offerings ! FAST FACTS: *Parking - there's a free parking lot that wraps around the restaurant *Reservations - not required but available through OpenTable *Brunch - Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm SERVICE - Fantastic! I had a 10:30 am reservation but arrived about 10 minutes early and was seated right away. My server, Kourteny, had a great personality and made sure we had everything we needed from start to finish! The food came out quickly and we got refills when needed. PRICING - The total was $56.29 after tax ($4.29) but before tip for jalapeño-cheddar biscuits ($8), chicken & waffle ($19.50), chickenbirdger ($14.50), and colossal cinnamon roll ($10). The chicken & waffle seemed a little overpriced but everything else seemed very reasonable for the amount of food and quality of ingredients. JALAPEÑO-CHEDDAR BISCUITS (7/10) - This is a great value for an appetizer because you get 5 biscuits with the country gravy for only $8. The biscuit texture was great but I wish the jalapeño and cheddar flavors were more prominent. But, the country gravy helped make up for that. I'd order this again! CHICKEN & WAFFLE (6/10) - This was just okay. The waffle has a sweet flavor but it wasn't overly crispy and seemed pretty basic. The chicken tenders were crispy but didn't have a ton of flavor in the batter so you have to rely on the eggs, country gravy, and syrup to jazz it up. I don't think I'd order this again because it doesn't seem worth the price. CHICKENBIRDGER (9.5/10) - This was the unsung hero! We ordered it on a whim but it ended up being our favorite item! It's a great size for the price and the sandwich was PACKED with tons of flavorful ingredients! The lemon vinaigrette, feta, and basil-garlic aioli were absolutely delicious... plus you get fontina, arugula, tomato, and pickled red onion to add more freshness. The fries were cooked perfectly and the house made ketchup is some of the best I've had... the mustard seeds they add to it are so good! I'd order this again! COLOSSAL CINNAMON ROLL (8.5/10) - This is a great dessert after brunch... it is a different take on a traditional cinnamon roll but it totally works. It's a great size and is super gooey. The bourbon-brown butter caramel is super sweet but also adds a nice spice along with the pecans and the cream cheese glaze. I wish there was a little more glaze but that's just my preference. I'd order this again! Now that I've tried Whiskey Cake for both dinner and brunch, I'd definitely recommend it to others for a meal any time of day! Had dinner with a party of five a couple of weeks ago. We were seated on the patio which was quite pretty and dimly lit. Some of the tables have a lovely wood design with gaps between the planks. Our server was nice and attentive and the food was alright. The reason my review is only three stars is because the lady who served our food (not our server) had her hair only half up and spilled my entree's sauce through the gaps of the table. The sauce ended up spilling onto not only my jeans but also both my shoes which I only found out later that night because they weren't visible at the restaurant. Thankfully, other servers were quick to apologize and offer ways to combat the stain on the jeans. I was glad it was not on bare skin, but regardless not an ideal addition to my outfit. If I do go again it will be for ambiance, I will ask to be seated at a table with no gaps. 1st visit and it was amazing. Don't let the parking lot fool you. It seems like the place is packed but the parking around the restaurant is limited, so park in the back for additional parking. The service was top notch Erika B was the greatest! Her personality is amazing, super friendly but not in the "27 pieces of flare" way. Came here Saturday morning at 11 for brunch- it was super busy but we made a reservation and our table was waiting for us! We all ordered the mimosa flight for $15- a perfect choice! You get four mini glasses- cranberry, orange, pineapple and grapefruit. I thought it was a really fair portion for price and all the nice tasted fresh and you could still taste the bubbles. One minor detraction is they are served on a wooden flight which is super hard for the servers to place down when holding multiple and a lot of our juice splashed out. For an app we got the goat cheese fondue- it's not really fondue it's just baked goat cheese with huge hunks of roasted garlic, olives and sundried tomatoes with roasted bread but who cares- it's damn delicious. I could have eaten that garlic all day. Kudos to our sever for bringing extra bread before we even asked. We also got a colossal cinnamon bun- it was not COLASSAL just bigger but again who cares, insanely good. For meals we had the chicken and waffles, the farmers breakfast and the apple French toast. Run RUN to get that French toast holy hell. I wish i could bathe in a vat of that homemade whipped cream. The apples and sauce, the fluffy bread, the crunch of the pecans...this was brunch dreams! The farmers plate was amazing for a more traditional breakfast plate and the jalapeno biscuit was divine. I loved that the served split it into two separate plates for my boyfriend and I when I said we were sharing. The menu definitely caters to a non vegetarian palette but they had items clearly marked which was a plus and our waitress was friendly and made sure our food was vegetarian as well. I've been to Whiskey Cake six times in the past year. It's my go-to for out-of-town company. My favorite dish is the rotisserie chicken, but I've tried the chicken meatballs, Mac and cheese, and of course, the Whiskey cake. None of them were a disappointment. The rotisserie chicken sits in a light sauce that has a smoky flavor. The veggies were also covered in the sauce and it was delicious! The cake is very moist and not overly sweetened. First of all, the restaurant is super cute. The aesthetic is really nice. I love that little herb garden that they have outside.. staff was super nice as well. They seated us right away. Our server was super sweet and helpful. We ordered the chicken melt and the French onion burger. You can definitely taste the quality however, the chicken melt or the chicken itself needed seasoning. The French onion burger was super good, but the brioche bun was a little bit too much. I will definitely come back but next time I would add some lettuce or something because it was very dense. Their ranch is so good. The brussels sprouts was very flavorful and just so yummy after dousing my chicken melt in ranch then that's what made the sandwich very good and gave it some what of a flavor. We finally tried Whiskey Cake for the first time, to celebrate my husband's birthday. From the start, the hostess and a gentleman that I assume was a manager, were warm and welcoming. JD was our server and he did an excellent job. He was thorough in his knowledge of both menu and bar items; and made excellent suggestions. We will definitely be asking if he's available, next time we visit. It's wonderful to find a restaurant that both gives excellent service and has an atmosphere that is will welcoming to bring our whole family. This is one of our family's new favorites, as even our kids asked when we can go back. Excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere. More than the trifecta at Whiskey Cake! I typically rate on good food, good service, and good atmosphere. Whiskey Cake was "above and beyond" on all that tonight. The food was not JUST good, it was flavorful without trying too hard; nothing was over-seasoned to make a "statement". All the different menu items we tried were superb. We also had delicious drinks and tried a flight of whiskies. Of course, we finished with their signature Whiskey Cake- perfect! Our server, Jillian, was exceptional. She served us at our pace, was informative, polite, and friendly. The manager passed by, and greeted us as well. The atmosphere was nicely lit, with warm woods (perfect for a whiskey establishment), a large bar, and the noise level was low, so conversation was easy. The front of the restaurant was crowded with people awaiting tables, but we were graciously welcomed and found seats in the "living room" area to wait. We were seated exactly at our reservation time. Again, we received another gracious welcome from our server, Paige, who made our date night delightful. As I had noticed at other tables, she stooped down to speak with us and take our order, which drowned out some of the noise level and made it feel more personal. The steak frites were prepared perfectly, and the delicious Parmesan fries were served hot and crunchy. Our only regret was that only one shishito pepper was served with the entrée. It's a good thing my husband had agreed to share because the wood-grilled salmon was out of this world! The salmon was cooked just right, and the smoked oyster mushrooms and chowder broth elevated it to another level. We weren't sure if we had room for the famous whiskey cake, but when Paige suggested she would serve us half and would prepare the balance "to go," we were in. Boy, were we glad we were in! Honestly, the delicious combination of flavors and textures almost made us fall off our chairs! We were a group of 13 parents taking a break from watching a tournament at Round Rock Sports center. Came a little after they opened and we were accommodated immediately. Our server was wonderful and patient with us old folks :) . Loved our mimosa flights. We ordered a variety of food items including ribeye steak, WTF burger. Carrot cake pancakes, fried green tomatoes and Brussel sprouts. Everything was so good BUT the Brussels sprouts need special mention. It was amazing! We all left full and happy. Found a new favorite restaurant! Brunch here is amazing and I just tried a burger recently and was blown away! SO SO GOOD! The place is decorated in a very cool urban industrial style with lovely live plants. The service is always good, and the food is ALWAYS Excellent! I LOVE the cinnamon bun for brunch with a side of millionaire bacon. The tea and coffee they serve are also better than your average restaurant. I've been wanting to come here ever since I read the reviews of many of my Yelp followers. I have to admit this place really pulls in the lunch crowd. They have a decent list of appetizers and an extensive list of drinks and whiskeys. They do have some local beers on tap, but you'll have to ask since they rotate the taps. They do have a decent wine list, but it's not very extensive. You can enjoy their happy hour from 3 to 6 M-F. Their bar is really quite sight to see and is home to the only two flat screens inside the place. We decided to keep it simple and went with the burger and the chicken sandwich. I would definitely add this place to my "favorites" burger destinations. I do recommend adding bacon to the burger. They do have an interesting take on their ketchup because they infuse it with mustard seeds. We definitely saved room for their namesake whiskey cake. The cake was surprisingly light and they make their own whipped cream with plenty of chopped pecans on top. It is practically a meal in itself. I have to admit, you really get your money's worth here in this pleasant and efficient dining experience. Waitstaff really has it down and hustle to make sure everybody is taken care of. When it's time to settle up, they'll bring a handheld device to your table where you can decide on the tip amount assuming you're using a credit card. Our party of four arrived on time for our 5 p.m. dinner reservation. Yes, we have turned into early bird diners and the restaurant was empty. Here is the one nit to our 5-star experience. Even though the restaurant was empty we were seated right next to another table of diners and if my neighboring diner wanted to get up I would also have to stand up to allow him to push his chair back to exit. After a quick discussion at the host station and we were seated at a booth. OK, enough with the nits here is the deal. Service is impeccable, the menu is darn interesting, and oh their cocktail menu will satisfy even the snobbiest of the snobbiest quaffers. We started with their goat cheese fondue and it was a perfect balance of goat cheese, olive oil, their Italian-inspired lemon gremolata, and sourdough bread. Check this out. While we were discussing the menu with our server she asked if we wanted another round of drinks. We ordered our cocktails and through the magic of their mobile POS system our drinks arrived as we were still ordering! I ordered their shrimp and grits special which was in a red sauce. This dish was wonderfully spiced with ample shrimp and a good-sized portion of grits. Other diners ordered the steak frites, bone-in pork chop, and a chicken and chees melt sandwich. Each entree was cooked to perfection and in between mouthfuls, we agreed we needed to come back to explore the rest of the menu. Of course, we had to order their whiskey cake dessert.
