I used this white dove release for a funeral. David was very kind and waited until the last minute for the date that was up in the air. The day of the funeral he was there on time. He brought the birds and a p.a. system which the family used for a while to play music. David was kind and patient with the kids who were excited about the birds. He explained to them what they were and let them pet the birds. He doesn't dress in a suit, which may be a downfall to some, it was fine for us. His birds flew beautifully. His prices u just can't beat. If you don't want a fanfare of videos that you kinda have to pose for this is your guy.....you won't regret it. read more

Contracted White Dove SoCal for my Father's funeral. Spoke with David 3 days before the service to get a quote. I called 3 different vendors and he is definetly the most reasonable in price. I was a little nervous because our conversations were via text and phone and we agreed to pay him in full at graveside. David was professional, he was on time, he text me to confirm and text me to let me know he was all set up at graveside prior to us arriving. He was courteous and the doves were beautiful. Dave put my family in a bad situation on friday may 8th. 2015. He was suppose to supply a service for my dad funeral. I called him that morning and he said he had booked someone else that day. I explained to him we had made a deal, he knew i was coming from northern California. I was distraught very very very did i mentioned very upset he did this on the day of my days funeral. Three months ago, I called White Doves Socal for 30 doves at my grandfather's funeral. Unfortunately, David was already booked that day. I didn't think it was such a big deal to use another company and so I hired White Dove Release Inc. for $25 more than David charges (I had 30 birds). On the phone, the other company sounded better than David because they took down all the detailed information about my grandfather and every detail about who was opening the basket, when, etc. On the day of the funeral though, I wondered why they had bothered to waste my time with that since the dove handler had no idea about anything and had me giving out instructions during an awkward silence as everyone waited. It wasn't the worst, but it certainly wasn't the best..... Sadly, my grandmother passed away a couple of weeks ago. This time, David was available. He was humble and compassionate on the phone. We discussed releasing the birds from the basket together versus having everyone hold a dove and release together. I decided to have 30 family members hold a dove and release them at the same. David told me to have my grandmother's favorite song on my phone so he could plug it up to his speakers when we released the doves. He also told me he spoke Spanish and could say something in English and Spanish. David's price for 30 doves was also cheaper than White Dove Release Inc. On the day of the funeral, he arrived early so that I could meet him and pay him prior to the service. I was taken aback by how kind he was. Someone mentioned that he does not wear a suit and that is true so if that matters to you, discuss with him. It didn't matter to me because the suit on the guy from White Dove Release at my grandfather's funeral didn't make up for his performance. I had to leave the service to set up the reception meal and made it back to the funeral service just in time. David didn't miss a beat. No awkward pause. I gave him the go ahead and he began the speech about the doves, then began handing each family member a dove. We released them at the same time and it was the most beautiful thing. I was so glad I chose White Doves Socal. Two more things I have to mention. First, I was so floored by David and his service that I wanted to give him a small tip. I had a little bit of cash with me and as he shook my hand to leave, I handed it to him. He turned it down and said, "No. You already paid me." I explained to him that I really wanted him to take something for making the funeral so special for us and he then accepted it. My son watched the whole thing so David also taught a young man how to be honest, gracious, and humble. Thank you. Lastly, on top of texting me a photo that he took of my family as we released the doves, David also sent me a short video clip of our release. This was completely unexpected. And words can't tell you how much we appreciate this very generous gift. There had been conversation at the reception about how people wished that someone had caught it on video, well, someone had - David. You do not need to shop around. David brought 10 doves for a dove release at my sister-in-law's celebration of life/memorial. David was thoughtful, kind and very respectful. I highly recommend using White Doves Socal. Very reasonably priced, on time, went above and beyond to make the release special. My niece will never forget letting the beautiful white dove fly out of her hands and into the heavens. Then when her dad released the second dove, the two met and soared into the air. This was followed by several friends and family each releasing another dove until they all flew up to the heavens. NO SHOW !!!! I was extremely disappointed when Dave and Lorena did not show up to my mother's funeral. It's bad enough grieving the loss of a deeply loved family member, but not showing up without even making a courtesy phone call is not only unprofessional, but also very cold and disrespectful. When I called them from my mother's graveside, waiting and waiting along with all my grieving family, they simply said they were not able to reach me. I would've believed that excuse 20 years ago, but not in a world of caller ID. The doves were suppose to symbolize the spirit rising to heaven. At least that's what their sales pitch said. My family had a very horrible experience, booking with David. My family had hired him for my grandfathers funeral. My grandfathers funeral was in Southern California and we were coming from Northern California. My mom and aunt had went out earlier to setup final arrangements for his services. They had hired David to release doves at my grandpas funeral. Everything was setup for May 8th, 2015. Well come May 8th, my aunt called to verify with David for the funeral at 230 pm. He gives her the news that he had booked a different client and could no longer assist us. We as a family were devastated. We had a program put together for guests and white doves release was on the program. So the funeral home referred us to Mitch at ocdoves.com, on yelp its "white doves release" in Huntington Beach, Ca. My aunt made the phone call to Mitch the morning of my grandpas funeral and he said he would be there. Mitch showed up early to setup and we were very grateful. Mitch pulled through for my family, and he has no idea what he did for us. David couldn't show up, and he had a week notice, but Mitch showed up after receiving a call in the morning. I wouldn't recommend booking with David, he is not reliable. And couldn't even call and let us know he booked someone else is our place. read more

Dave was the sweetest guy I could've possible hoped to work with. My siblings and I decided we wanted to release doves at our dad's funeral. I called Dave at a quarter till ten on a Wednesday night to check his availability on that following Friday morning. Dave couldn't be happier to take my call. He quoted me $150 for 10 doves or $180 for 20. Not a bad price considering he drove out to the Rose Hills grave site (that he asked for at the main desk) an hour early. He waited for my whole family to get settled, the pastor to say a prayer and then let each of my family members personally release a dove. Usually, I guess people just have him release all the birds at once but he was more than happy to let the adults and children hold and release each dove one by one. It brought an element of participation and happiness to a sad occasion that is usually very boring and stiff. This is what I consider a win-win. You need to add something unforgettably beautiful to an important occasion and you have the opportunity to support a local business. I totally recommend releasing doves at a loved one's funeral. It brightens the occasion a bit. I definitely recommend Dave and his beautiful doves! They were all AWESOME! read more

We had to make plans from Central Cali to Southern Cali with the hopes that ALL would go well with the funeral. My younger sister contacted Dave here at White Doves Socal and made arrangements for the Dove release on May 8, 2015, but he fell through at the VERY LAST MINUTE. It was such a disappointment to hear that our family had to scramble on the morning of our dad's funeral to replace his services.
