The decor of the restaurant was great. I loved the old "boathouse" feel. It is right on the water so you can watch passing boats as you eat. There is a wrap around porch that also allows you and the kids to take some photos or just enjoy the calmness of the river. Their customer service was top-notch too. But past that, it goes down hill for us. We're from the south where fish is prepared differently so the food was just okay to us. We felt as though it was priced just a little steep for the quality we received. We won't go back again, but there is just as good of a chance that you might really like it. We we're in Branson for our anniversary and decided to go to Bass Pro to look at fishing gear. We asked an employee the best place to eat on the landing and she told us about the White River Fish House. We decided to try it and it was absolutely wonderful. The view and atmosphere are great and the food is even better. We order the appetizer sampler and substituted the ribs for alligator tails. The spinach dip was to die for! I usually wouldn't touch spinach but my husband convinced me to try it and I absolutely loved it. The alligator tails and crawfish were nice and crispy and very tasty as well. I ordered the sirloin and it was cooked perfectly. The redskin potatoes were flavorful and the veggies were good too. All in all we had a great experience and will definitely be going back. read more

Great waterfront setting (on top of the lake to be more accurate) and impressive decor. Food was not spectacular, but hearty. No pretensions about wild-caught fish or organic sourcing. We had the almond trout and catfish/crawfish combo, and were satisfied with both. Service was suitably attentive. Would have given four stars, except for the number of flies. The first table next to the windows to which we were shown had quite a few of them buzzing around. Since it was early with plenty of open tables, we ended up moving to a booth in the middle of the dining room to escape them. The food as amazing and as was the view. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a nice meal in Branson. It was also based right next to its downtown area, for possible shopping trips right after. Our plates were left clean as a whistle in the end. One thing that you'd may want to keep in mind beforehand though is the service. Despite its excellency, it was in fact rather slow but perfect for if you're planning on conversing during the feast. The interior is an excellent wooden cascade of ozark country and novelties. The only negative here is the music could have been better. Pricing: 9/10 Great prices but no bargains. Food: 9.75/10 Huge surprise for a restaurant connected to a national chain such as bass pro. We are from Southern Louisiana so our expectation for seafood is high and it met it and then some. We had the best spinach dip ever and the cornbread and sweet tea were excellent. The portions are very generous and match the pricing. My husband and I ordered the mahi mahi with crab meat--delicious! The portions were huge; the potatoes (rice for my husband), the broccoli, and the cornbread were also delicious and generous. We've eaten at the Fish House numerous times since retiring in the area nearly 5 years ago. Varied, interesting menu, 'tho we are not big 'fish eaters'. AND, if you live in the area, there's a local discount if you use the "Branson Guest (green) Card". 'Love their chicken-fried-chicken and the salmon, my wife's favorite, is delicious and a generous portion. They serve jalapenia cornbread (only). Scenic there eating "on the lake", as the restaurant is pontoon-based. And the gentle, almost imperceptible sway one windy day, reminded us we truly were eating "on the water". This is not, however, and 'economy' dining experience, although reasonable overall. read more

Bass Pro should take their name of this restaurant before it ruins their reputation. The fried shrimp was nasty, it was like eating plastic. The Cajun catfish was only slightly better. If they are going to charge the prices that they charge, the food should be at least edible. Maybe if it were based solely on decor and atmosphere, then yes, it exceeded my expectations. But my review is based soley on their food which was god for aweful. I don't think i have ever been to a restaurant where I haven't been able to at least get the food down. Cornbread was okay, but everything to follow was shear grossness. My husband ordered the catfish which had no flavor and very bland, fries were underdone and no crispness to them. With all costs avoid the sirlon. It had to have been bad, even cooked at medium had this horrible rancid taste, I had no choice to spit out after just the first bite. The mashed potatoes were sour, and green beans rubbery. And after about 24 hours my husband came down with food poisoning. Not sure if it was the catfish or the bites of rancid steak he swallowed. To say the least we will never be back. Which is sad bc there are not a whole lot of restaraunts that are actually good and even though I thought the ones in all the advertisements that gave away free stuff were pretty bad, this rwstaraunts far exceeds those in being the worst! read more

The alligator tail was lightly breaded this time, which is a positive. Previous trips have had way too much breading. My wife got the grouper and it was tasty. I had the wild boar burger which was good but seemed like there was a lot of filler in the patty. I could be wrong, haven't had a lot of boar with which to compare. Regardless, it was delicious, especially with the sweet potato tots. As always, the jalapeño cornbread was delightful. The only knock is the price, which really isn't surprising for Branson. Do not waste your time here. I consulted yelp before going here for dinner. I trusted 4 plus stars. This was by far the worst yelp had ever let me down. My husband and I found it odd that it was not busy at all for a Saturday night. We were seated fairly close to the hostess station. We watched throughout the very slow service as the hostess station is where most of the employees would gather and complain about how bored they were and play on their phones. Meanwhile patrons going in and out of the establishment were not thanked or welcomed. My hubs and I both ordered clam chowder and crab stuffed stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. The chowder was good. Not great. But good. The mushrooms were not as good as what you would get at Red Lobster. I asked the waitress if the halibut or the trout was better. She said that no question...the halibut was the way to go. Hubs got the pasta and scallops. I cannot begin to tell you how bad my dish was. I promise you they microwaved a halibut Filet in the back. Even the broccoli was bad. My husbands meal was reportedly better than mine. We dropped $105 on this meal. Will never go back. read more

This was our second time coming here the first time was a couple of years ago and we were not that impressed. We decided to give it another try and it had greatly improved. The food was some of the best we have had in quite a while. Our server I think her name was Rose went above and beyond to make our experience great and our daughters birthday diner one to remember. All of our meals went well beyond expectations and the mashed potatoes were the best I think I have ever had and my chicken was moist and flavorful. I love the White River Fish House. My family goes there relatively often, once every other month I would say. This place is good if you like either seafood or just classic American food like burgers. They give you plenty of cornbread for free to start your meal, and the cornbread is amazing. I would also highly, highly suggest you get the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer. Trust me, you won't regret it. When I come here I usually get either a burger, catfish, or salmon. The burgers here are phenomenal. They use all fresh meat as well as ingredients. The salmon is also amazing, although pricey. The whole atmosphere of this place is really fun. All the walls are basically windows to look over Lake Taneycomo and the Branson Landing. There are also cool knickknacks all around to look at. Hungry fish are out front in the water. We always take our extra cornbread with us to feed to the fish at the end! Located along the riverbank of Branson Landing, this establishment serves excellent appetizers and entrees (though we had no room for dessert). Our group orders included pasta, steak, ribs and chicken (which were all very good), but the specialty I recommend is the fried catfish. Breaded evenly and cooked perfectly, these toothsome morsels melt in your mouth and leave a hankering for more. In addition to our view, the service was good and our wait to be seated was brief (on. I hate to write a less than positive review. Last night for dinner was less than stellar. Took much longer than promised to get a seat. Then we waited a long time for the waitress to greet us. The cornbread was great. The sea salt fries could have been salt free fries--and I usually complain about too much salt. The Ozark style catfish was reportedly a signature item but it could have been from the school cafeteria. Rather bland. So how do you reward a poor performance? You go back the next day at lunch. The menu was the same as the dinner menu. I had the BBQ sandwich this time. It was good but the fries still did not merit praise.
