    Breakfast -yum!

Here's the scoop - this restaurant has a lot of family history. If you look closely at one of the murals, you'll find the signature of my mother, who placed it there when she was in junior high back in the early 40's. It's also the favorite Sunday breakfast place for my family, and a must-stop when we are in town. So we met the family here after church. This place was hustling! The menu is pretty extensive and they have several specials. I had the Irish Eggs Benedict - I love EB, and corn beef hash! The eggs were cooked perfectly! Served with hash browns, it was a hefty breakfast! Other meals included the Western wrap (western or Denver omelette served in a wrap), the low carb omelette with spinach and egg whites, and fluffy Belgian waffle. Service was excellent. Coffee and water refill checks occur promptly. Food is good. I hope to be able to eat here every time we visit Ballston! Someday I hope to show my granddaughter the signature of her great grandmother.

Hot Rachel - corned beef, coleslaw and Swiss cheese on house made Italian bread, with side of fries.

I've passed the Whitehouse many times and wondered what type of place it was. It looks like it has existed for a very long time. We had planned to have a late breakfast at another nearby restaurant only to discover they were closed on Mondays. Our backup plan was a walk to the Whitehouse since I had recently read that others enjoyed breakfast there. So it was just after noon as we entered and held the door for two customers leaving. We initially entered a long, narrow, brightly lit dining room with dark wood tables and chairs lining each side. At the end of this dining room we saw an additional, wider dining room with like furniture. As we entered this area we realized we were the only customers and we were met by a friendly server who told us to sit anywhere we liked. As we began to survey the breakfast portion of the menus that were provided to us we were informed that only lunch was available after 11:30 am. From the listing of salads, soups, appetizers, sandwiches and wraps we settled on a Rachel sandwich ($7.50) for my wife and a Buffalo Chicken sandwich ($7.50) for me. The Whitehouse bakes their own Italian bread and rolls for their sandwiches, which is why we did not opt to have the wrap versions of our choices. The Rachel, with corned beef, coleslaw and Swiss cheese, came between nicely toasted slices of bread. French fries were chosen as the side. The bread was very good tasting, the corned beef a bit salty, and the fries were good. Overall it was a tasty sandwich. My Buffalo Chicken sandwich consisted of two large, breaded chicken fingers served on the house-made roll. I chose a medium degree of hotness which was barely noticeable; I'm sure I would have enjoyed "hot". The chicken breading was very crispy and the chicken was moist. I had the kitchen add all the additional toppings that were offered, so it was a very heaping sandwich with the lettuce, tomato, onion and blue cheese sauce. It was a very enjoyable sandwich and went well with my choice of onion rings as a side. Service was very friendly and pleasant. Refills were offered for the coffee ($1.50/cup) which had a decent amount of flavor. While the restaurant currently only serves breakfast and lunch, the menu also showed hours for serving food at the bar Wed. - Fri. from 5 pm. We hadn't noticed a bar on our arrival because there was a separate door to the bar area in the entry foyer. A trip to the men's room revealed a separate room parallel to the long narrow dining room where a neat looking bar, jukebox and pool table are located. While we didn't see the actual bar menu, are server gave us the impression that the appetizers and sandwiches were likely available. She also said that the breads are baked in a pizza oven. So the possibility exists that pizza and dinners might be offered in the future.

Eggs Madison & Home Fries with side of Oscar's bacon
    John Z.

Had the Eggs Madison, benedict dish with sausage patties. Smooth and creamy sauce, thoroughly cooked eggs, sausage bigger than the english muffin mild in flavor. Homefries were well seasoned and crispy, needing no additional salt, pepper or condiments. Sign at entry said we serve Oscars bacon, so impulse buy. Thick and well cooked just to the point before overly done Coffee was mild. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Definitely recommend

Special with onion, bacon, sausage and cheese for $8.50!

Had been a long time since I have been here for breakfast! I will be going back soon because it was really good!!!!! Had the special which was an omelette with onions, bacon, sausage and cheese! The omelette was large and cooked perfectly!! Only reason for four stars was the place is run down and service was a little slow even though the place was almost empty!

We arrived right when they opened at 10 a.m. and were seated immediately, which was great. We initially considered sitting inside, but the smell of eggs was so overwhelming/nauseating that we opted for outdoor seating instead. The patio was charming and cozy. The service was friendly, attentive, and one of the highlights of our visit. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to expectations. We all ordered the brunch tower, which included a "fruit salad" that consisted of squishy grapes, sour Granny Smith apple chunks, and canned mandarin oranges. The fruit tasted low quality and unappetizing, and I only managed a few bites. I also ordered the bananas foster crepe, which was severely overcooked. The crepe was so tough that I needed a knife to cut through it, and the texture was far from what I would expect from a crepe. Overall, while the service was pleasant and seating was prompt, the food quality left a lot to be desired, especially considering the price point.

I love when local eateries are well-loved because they deserve it. 9 Miles East Farm certainly does! A lot of the folks who came in for dinner wanted to sit on the terrace to bask in the last couple of hours of sun, but being from Florida I get overdosed with that and sat inside. I'm glad I did, the playlist reminded me of a Sunday picnic without being either. However, the atmosphere felt like that, even indoors. The owner was super personable, and the server was just the right amount of attentive. I ordered the chicken piri piri, and it presented beautifully. I felt comforted by the food. The tender grilled chicken parted from the bone with a twist of my fork and the mashed sweet potato was a great partner to the savory, citrusy, and slightly spicy piri piri. Im not even a chicken thigh person, but this dish changed me. I actually felt tended to and taken care of by the food! Does that even make sense??? It did when I was eating because that's how I felt. And the crazy thing is, I've been here once before. I loved what I ate, but it didn't feel like this. It's been a rough couple of months, but after this meal and listening to the carefree, but intentional music, it lit up my mood and my spirit. This will definitely be one of my go-to's when I visit Saratoga Springs, and I highly recommend 9 Miles East Farm to anyone. We enjoyed the Cinnamon Roll French Toast and the Mediterranean Omelette. We did not leave disappointed. In fact, our tastebuds and tummies were so happy with our choices. The omelette actually came with the same challah bread that the french toast was made from. If I lived closer, I'd be buying that challah bread every week. It's so freakin' good!
