Like others - I'm not a picky bagel person nor from NYC, but I thoroughly liked the bagel I picked up based on the quality of the bread and the garlic and herb cream cheese. I usually don't finish bagels but this time I ate the complete sandwich. I ordered a make your own option with bacon, a fried egg, garlic and herbs cream cheese and provolone on a plain bagel. I think that next time I could do without the egg and bacon and save some money with just the bagel and the tasty cream cheese options. Another Gem we found by happenstance. My wife and I were looking for something outside the regular taco places for breakfast, don't get me wrong I LOVE my tacos but just was being nostalgic of the east coast and we found Wholly bagel. It is approximately 50 minutes from where we live, but yes we do come here quite often. They have a great assortment of bagels, sandwiches, and sweets. We found our new home. The schmeers they have are epic. I opt for the Angry Texan it is nice flavorful and just the right amount of spice. The service is great most times and everyone is friendly. I do warn you if you are a late riser they may be out of your favorites. So make sure you get up in time, but it is worth it. I definitely RECOMMEND it !!!!!!! read more

Been here a few times and it's the best option in Austin for bagels. Depending on the time, the wait can be quite long. My boyfriend is Jewish and from New York and says they're good with the cream cheese- they spread it on thick! However, he says these are a little hard rather than soft like they're supposed to be which I agree with. We get an everything bagel w/cream cheese and a jalapeno bagel w/herb and chive cream cheese. I've been dying to try this place in hopes of finding bagels as good as the NY ones. Ordered an everything bagel with taylor ham (SHOCKED to see it here as I've only ever been able to get this in the tri state area) with egg and cream cheese. $6 later I'm chowing down on the driest bagel ever!!! I think maybe even an Einstein's bagel woulda been better than the one I got and that's saying a lot... Wholy smokes! What an unexpected place for a five star NYC style bagel!!! To say that I was pleasantly surprised by this place would be an understatement. The everything bagels are to die for. I think the seasoning on both sides of the bagel elevates these bagels to even better than some of my favorites from NYC bagel places. I'm not usually one for bagel sandwiches, but I thought the bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel was the most delicious thing I've had in Austin so far. I recommend getting anything you order toasted. The hot bagel and cold cream cheese just hit the spot. As far as the cream cheeses go, I really like the vegetable but the hatch green chile and scallion cream cheeses are always a hit with everyone else. They have PLENTY to choose from. This is a small shop, so the line is usually out the front door on weekends. It seems to be much more efficient to call in your order and pick it up in order to skip the line. Although they seem to have enough employees, the line does move pretty slowly. I think the employees are really nice and give good recommendations if you need it. This place has a pretty solid record of excellence. I foresee it being an Austin staple for many more years to come. Be sure to check in on Yelp for a free any size brewed coffee! Yum this was a yummy and delicious shop. There are many options for your bagel. You can kind of make your own. You pick your flavor, cheese, meat, and extras if you want!! Overall bad experience. Ordered online and when I got my food my sandwich had a random creme cheese that wasn't on my order or listed as toppings for my sandwich. SO GOOD The best Nova lox sandwich I've had was in New York at best bagel and coffee. The one I had here is a very close second. Get it toasted! The interior reminds me of shops you'd see in New York, but it's bigger (because everything is bigger in TX). Staff is super friendly and seems like they all really love bagels so you can expect them to give great recs if you're unsure of what you want. When you're pregnant on New Year's day and all you want - no - all you NEED is a New York deli style breakfast bagel, you do what you've got to do. Baby needs bagels, STAT. I'm not knocking where I live, but as a downtown dweller, I live in the land of breakfast tacos. And trust me, I have had my fair share of delicious tacos. But those weren't gonna cut it this time. So, I dragged my hungover friend along with me to Wholy Bagel. Admittedly, we were going to try another place closer to downtown, but they were closed for the holiday. Their loss, our gain because I could not be more obsessed with Wholy Bagel at this point. It's in an unassuming shopping center and the business itself is quite tiny. I attribute that to its overall quaintness and assume that's kind of how the delis in New York might be like. Quaint. Busy. Sassy. There's generally a line out the door, but the employees are champs and have their system worked out so that everything moves efficiently and quickly. The only thing that suffers is the lack of seating, but they've done all the can to fit chairs in every possible spot they can. Just come prepared knowing you might have to take the bagel to go. I've only had the breakfast bagel sandwiches - though they do have an array of lunch-y bites too, including, you guessed it, pastrami! On the breakfast realm, you choose the bagel (goooooo for the jalapeño cheddar - trust me), you select a cheese, and meat (they also have a veggie patty for the non-meat eaters). My go to: jalapeño cheddar bagel, pepper jack cheese and bacon. Can you tell I like it spicy? Be sure to ask for it toasted - they don't do it upon assumption. There is also a gigantic selection of cream cheeses. I haven't tried them yet because I opt for the sandwich style, but they do look delicious. I am a big fan of their coffee, albeit a general drip coffee, because they offer pecan coffee. I've never had pecan coffee until I moved to Texas and I feel like it's such a rarity to find these days. My friend and I ultimately ordered a second breakfast bagel to split, because, pregnancy, and it was delightful. We also grabbed some bagels to go so I could stock my freezer. Coming from New England I have a high bar for bagels (and generally low expectations in Texas) but these are by far the best I have had in Austin. They must churn these out at a pretty high volume, because they always taste fresh. The wide selection of cream cheese is also a big plus. This is a weekly stop for me to get my fix! read more
