Went here for team lunch. We tried various items from the menu. For appetisers, I tried Shiitake mushrooms satay, Thai Chicken Satay, Wagyu beef satay and Thai spring rolls. Shiitake mushroom was okay for me, but my vegetarian teammates did like it. Wagyu beef satay stood out for me, and all of us like the Thai spring rolls for the veg starters. Chicken Satay was good too. For main course, I got Fragrant duck and tried Indian butter chicken, hanoi tuna, sayer lodeh. Fragrant duck was really good. I ordered large and the server service was really huge, that I shared with others too. I really like Hanoi Tuna. The sauce it comes with was amazing and really flavorful. India butter chicken was okay. Had better in other places. Sayer Iodeh was also not so great! I did like the overall preparation of this place. Will visit again to try other dishes. For drinks: I ordered Sweet monkey business and Thai iced tea. Hot monkey business is a hot camomile infused whiskey drink which was really strong and with the cold weather I really liked it! I'm bummed...I've been a fan of Wild Ginger since it opened in Pike Place below the Alibi Room in the alley. I've suffered through the corporate modernization of the Bellevue location but tonight was not great on almost all points...hold Mickey the nicest bartender I've met in a while. When I came in (around 7pm) it was really cold. I assumed it might be me as I came in from a cold walk but after a while I asked the person next to me if they were cold and they felt the same...very cold to the point of covering their hands with their sweater. So I asked one of the bartenders if they could check on the heat and they said they felt the same and had all night. I ordered and my food came pretty spot on but the rice was half cooked. I was surprised as it's Wild Ginger and serves rice for a living. So I kindly let Mickey know that the rice was half done and he kindly said he'd heard the same from others. The lighting in this location is stark and not cozy like all of your successful other locations All this aside, I asked to chat with the GM as I own a restaurant and I want this relatively new location to thrive.. It was a Friday night came in at about 4pm for dinner. No reservations made or needed, we were some of the first diners for the night it seemed. We were greeted and sat promptly, our server Peter, was just wonderful. Honestly one of the best dining experiences we have had thanks to Peter. He was knowledgeable about the menu, and honest about his own preferences, some of which we took. Started off with some drinks, Butterfly Effect which is like a Paloma. 10/10. Then got the wagyu satay, sea bass, and Mongolian noodles. All very flavorful and yummy, a lil spicy tho, which was cool. I used to love this place. I went in Feb and we asked for a table away from the baby chair at the table next to us but despite there being 3 free identical tables on the other side of the room they said no. Fine. (Those got filled later in the hour though, despite them saying they had to balance servers out). Fine. So our server (obviously a trainee) comes by with the person watching him. He knows nothing about the wine when asked about wine by the glass, and not much about the food. I can give some grace here - he's a trainee. I used to come each time I came to Seattle and LOVED this place. I can overlook all of this. Finally, we order food. Not only does one dish come after we had finished eating completely (he did take it off the bill after we said not to even bother bringing it) - he said food comes out when it's ready. Yes, we understand that, but not after we are all completely done with apps, drinks and eating. He did not even come back to ask about dessert or more drinks/water. But that wasn't the main issue. The main issue is that when serving drinks, he handled the wine and cocktail glasses from the cup not the stem!!! Touching the top of my glass with five fingers is NOT OK, especially during Covid. Not only that, he had his thumb completely in the rice when serving it. NOT OK. When I later wrote to the manager, I got a canned "I'll look into it" response and an obviously pasted Covid response. No, this isn't about Covid, it's about your server PAWING the top of our drinking glasses and having his thumb in our food. I hope that guy is now gone, but I have PTSD from being there. I didn't raise the issue at dinner as we were at a business meal, but I never want to eat there again, especially since the manager brushed it off completely when I wrote to him. It's an okay place. The bar space is packed but the table are usually empty. The service is ok. Servers were nice and helpfup. I did find my self trying to get a servers attention to order more but too long I just ended up getting the check. The place looks nice and modern. The menu is a mix of buzz foods. First there is no such thing as a Mongolian Spicy Noodle so forget about authentic at the door. Skip the Satays which are ridiculously long skewers for the extremely little meat you get. If your there at HH they are worth it since you get a bit of pickled cucumber and rice square.) The most of the menu is okay but overpriced. read more

Wohoo, one of the better Thai food experiences we've had! That Thai perfect harmony of sweet-spicy-sour-salty-bitter flavors in every dish, yup, all there! Foods here taste like those I had at sit down restaurants back in Thailand (as oppose to street foods). As a comparison to other popular Seattle Thai joints, Wild Ginger is on par with Noi Thai and Soi Thai. Though I did enjoy Soi Thai, a popular hipster Thai joint featuring Northeastern Thailand, I felt more connected with Wild Ginger. On the other hand, Noi Thai has more of the Thai dishes we've all grown to love, and I hadn't found a Crab Fried Rice better than that of Noi Thai's. Fun fact: Head Chef here is from Sri Lanka, and thus this location has unique Sri Lanka influenced specials no other Wild Ginger location has. Every time we come here, the food doesn't disappoint. And because we live so close, it's one of our take out Thai go to. When we order take out, we would bring our reusable containers and bag, even the sauce dish. They (the restaurant staff) always appreciate that kind of gestures which is nice to see bc I always feel like a weirdo asking. Food It's Thai food done right, 5/5 would do it again. Spice level: Low Papaya salad 4/5. Didn't like the jerky. A bit too sugary. It's nice to see more places offering vegan options but the food was very heavy and my husband got sick afterward with stomach issues. It would be nice to see lighter options rather than just coconut curry however it's great to see more restaurants offering plant based options. read more

Honestly, everything was fine until it was time to pay the bill. Unfortunately, this establishment can't itemize the check for a party and I ended up paying about double the amount for what I consumed. I only had a smaller dish from the Satay bar and asked them to split me off the check. They told me the best they could do was split the check evenly among the table and I had to pay a ton more for nothing I consumed. It's really sad because I've enjoyed this place over the last 15+ years (since I was a kid) and had many great memories. However, if this is an establishment practice, I feel as though I was robbed. With gratuity added on top and still asking for a tip, it just added gasoline to a fire. Spending the night in Seattle before our cruise my friends and I were looking for a high quality Asian cuisine and we found it at Wild Ginger. Our waiter exceeded all our expectations explaining the menu and what dishes paired well with different wines and drinks. For dinner we shared the Chicken Potstickers, Seven Flavor Beef, Fragrant Duck and Chinese Sausage and Shrimp Fried Rice. The main star of the dishes was the Seven Flavor Beef which had an amazing sauce. The Potstickers and Duck were solid and my friend raved about the duck drumstick being better than any chicken wing he's am ever had. Came back for a team lunch as it's super close to the amazon offices, with pretty low expectations considering the last time I was here. Decided to go for something I normally wouldn't have ordered, and got the duck. For the table, we ordered quite a few skewers, and I was able to have three of them, the beef, the chicken, and the mushroom. The beef was the best by far, with the chicken trailing quite a distance behind, and the mushroom was just there, for the vegetarians mostly. I really liked the pickles and the sticky rice that came with the skewers in particular, and had a good number of pickles while waiting for the main entree. They were slightly sweet and had a nice crunch to them. The duck itself was a bit bland and dry, I'll be honest here, but the sauces were pretty good, and the bao that the dish came with were a good vessel for spreading the plum jam that the duck came with, which provided the necessary flavor that the duck itself was sadly lacking. I think the issue with the duck mostly lies in the meat itself not being very tender, as the crispy skin of the duck had a nice flavor, but the bits that were just straight up duck meat weren't all that enjoyable without being smothered in sauce. I'm usually not a lettuce person but the butter lettuce that the duck came with was a nice touch, and I'm always here for excessive cilantro, you can never have enough cilantro. Overall, probably wouldn't come back if it wasn't free, but I'm glad that I had a decent meal this time! Didn't even see the wonton soup on the menu so maybe that was a temporary thing? read more

What a wonderful experience. The food is Asian inspired but blended with the international cuisine of contemporary Seattle. Spring rolls came with bean sprouts and what I think were leaves of bibb lettuce to wrap them in, and a tangy ginger sauce. Our waiter encouraged us to use our hands and get messy, and afterward brought us large steaming hot moist towels to clean up. My wife had sea bass, which she said was as good as any she ever had. I had the special duck dish with Chinese buns and Oriental seasoned green beans, again with a gingery sauce on the side, a kaleidoscope of flavors. Dessert included a raspberry cream and a coconut gelato. Our waiter, Eddie, was an Irishman who life set down in Seattle. He's one of the best we've ever met, giving us spot-on recommendations on food and wine choices. He took all the time we needed and never seemed rushed. We mentioned that on previous visits to Seattle we dined at their downtown location and the original modest place down the hill beneath Pike Place Market. First Impression: We looked for a Thai food menu restaurant that was on way to our hotel and we saw wild Ginger on 8th street. Since this was the only place on way to the hotel. We decided to give it a try. So a reservation was made and we were late due to some complication and being out of town we lost the way. Seems there was only one other couple as customer in the area we were seated. During the course of us ordering two waiters approached us to give us an option that if we want to be more comfortable with the child (who was fast asleep) they offered to move is to the booth. My daughter thought that it was a good gesture. But I looked at it differently - maybe it was a ploy to get us away from the main sitting area for fear that the infant would cause disturbance for other customer. They knew when we walked in that we had a sleeping infant with us and despite that we were seated, by their choice to the main section. I find their behavior odd and it had a stint of presumption and a pretense that they cared when in fact it was for their own good and fear avoidance. We opted to stay where we were. That first impression put me in an uncomfortable situation. I did like the the waiter's coming forward to help us better understand the menu and asked if we were familiar and then knowing not, he was kind enough to explain the menu and how to order. On the surface I liked him. The food took very little time to b brought to the table. The shrimp was tough to the bite and very spicy - on both count they could have done better. The white steamed rice side order was hard to chew. The noodles were very spicy. More so than we are used to. That too did not taste like it was freshly made not just from the looks of it, but it took just a few minutes to be served. The price paid was not worth the quality of the food. The 2 star rating was mostly for the first waiter pleasant disposition. If you have a choice ot pick a Thai/Asian restaurant pick something else. read more

Really great front of house staff -- Kilee Went to grab a quick bite to eat to go yesterday, and was impressed at this restaurant's COVID compliance. Just as a queue was starting to form with diners, GrubHub deliveries, and pickup orders, I really appreciated the hostess Kilee leaping into action and having everyone keep their distance while keeping the mood light and funny. I feel I've been to so many restaurants recently that have groups aggregating in close proximity, so front of house management has been essential. We got the Thai curry, seafood noodles, and the lettuce wraps. I would say that all are above standard for the area, and the lettuce wraps were especially a standout because they had crab and premium seafood -- quite a welcome surprise! Just had an amazing dinner at Wild Ginger on 8th. Savored the warm atmosphere on a chilly snowy evening. The restaurant has the feel of a warm and friendly neighborhood bistro. We had an attentive server from Ireland (wish we asked for his name - we loved him!) who was delightful and kind. Food was amazing and service was prompt. We devoured the suggested dishes of duck and beef, and loved the green beans side dish as well. My team and I went here for dinner last week following a recommendation from a coworker. We were promptly seated at our reservation time on a balcony that overlooked the entire restaurant. Our waiter was extremely responsive, and checked back in every 5 minutes or so. All 3 of us ordered something different and the portions were so massive that we ended up sharing our dishes with the others at the table. The food was fantastic! I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. If I had one piece of feedback - it did take a really long time for our food to come out of the kitchen. This was negated by the fact that our waiter was very prompt and attentive and assured us that our food was coming, regardless of the kitchen running behind. It was probably just because our expectations going in were so high but we felt they were slightly overpriced. The location is beautiful and the decor was great. You could see people coming in for work functions or dates. Worth dressing up a bit for. Service was okay. But it terms of pure food, it probably would appeal more to people who want a little less spice or flavor and appreciate more the ambiance and location downtown. read more

Went with a group of 6 Friday evening . It was my first time to this location. I still like the downtown location the best. We ordered a lot of food. I couldn't decide between the steak and shrimp. The waiter recommended the steak which was outstanding. He also brought the shrimp dish as well and didn't charge for it. How cool was that? Most of the food was better than anticipated. We all enjoyed the delicious shareable well portioned dishes. Someone even thought the mango sorbet was phenomenal!! I wanted to try Fragrant Duck but I'll save that for my next visit.
