Food and staff went above and beyond! Always made sure we were OK and if we needed anything. Unfortunately I was very sick due to the weather, but went since my friend made reservations and it was her birthday. She had the Pumpkin soup which I tried, and I am not a big fan of pumpkin but the soup was well balanced and delicious! I had the salmon which was phenomenal! The flavors really did an amazing job of blending in well together. I forgot our waiter's name but did an amazing job explaining everything in each dish and answering questions we had. Clearly an exquisite chef. Dinner was very well prepared. We enjoyed a salad, the strip, halibut, crab cakes, and gnocchi. Everything was very good but not over the top. The crab was excellent. The halibut also high on the list. The service was lacking especially for a restaurant of this caliber. There were three tables in the restaurant and the waiter "team" struggled to give us first-class attention. The restaurant is very small (8 tables total). No need to arrive early. There is no bar. A friend had told us she had had the best meal of her life at Wild Sage. Thus the bar was set impossibly high when we visited this last Saturday night. While no one in our group had the best meal of their life, there was unanimous agreement that the food was exceptional. Wild Sage is located inside of the Rusty Parrot hotel. It's tiny, with only a handful of tables and a cozy, countryish feel, which seems almost at odds with the inventive, sophisticated dishes. Like your grandmother inviting you to dinner in her cottage and then serving you food straight out of Top Chef. The bison osso bucco, kaffir lime red curry bouillabaisse, and the creative beef dishes were all hits. The place is undoubtedly pricey, but for an outstandingly tasty, memorable meal, it was definitely worth the price. read more

We had a wonderful dinner here, celebrating my birthday. We had a table by the fire which we had requested. The food was wonderful. I wanted a light fruity wine and our server picked it for me, it was one of her favorites....I wish I could remember it's name so I could enjoy it here at home. We shared an appetizer of fresh pasta with pompadour sauce, delicious. Then we had bison short ribs! We finished off our dinner with a slice of ginger cake. They wrote Happy Birthday on the edge of the plate and attached a candle. Dinner was a perfect ending to our day. I am hoping Wild Sage will send me the name of the wine..... read more

Returned here for our annual trip and was not disappointed!!! The food was fantastic and the service was on point. The wine list is a little weak, but it's the food I come for! Amazing execution in a very tight kitchen. There aren't many tables in here but we got the best seat in the house. A table of two looking directly into the kitchen. This place has really great food and great service, we had an enjoyable experience. I loved watching the precision of the chefs and their service. We ate plenty of things off the menu starting with homemade pasta and Bolognese, foie gras terrine, venison chop, bison short rib, potato leek soup and for dessert were had a pineapple upside down cake and apple tart. The highlights for sure were the pasta with bolognese, foie gras and venison. For desserts, we preferred the pineapple just because it was different. We had fun with the servers and enjoyed their recommendations as far as what to eat. This is the type of restaurant that should really have a michelin star. This spot is very romantic and best for adults. While I am sure they could accommodate kids, I think you may want to leave them at home for this. read more

Wild Sage is a great restaurant in downtown Jackson, WY. It has six tables with what seemed to be three waitstaff. So the ratio allowed for personal attention. It is a high end restaurant. The food is worldly, sophisticated and offers excellent opportunities to local and fresh and in season. I highly recommend the lobster bisque. Though I know this is typical of the restaurants in this area after having left WY, I never heard of this before I got here. If you order a liquor on the rocks there is an upcharge because they give you more alcohol. Unless you know about this you will be surprised when you see the bill. This restaurant isn't just a gem in Jackson, it can stand anywhere alone. Very happy with the food and the service. Will happily go back. read more

We dined here just a few days ago. Wow. Exceeded our expectations! There were so many things we wanted to taste that we were hard pressed to limit ourselves. Upon ordering onsies of several different dishes - our waiter suggested that we split most of our dishes and have them served in succession. Great idea! The portions are quite large so splitting made a lot of sense - getting a few bites of each dish. Upon our departure, I got the treat of learning how 'sous vide' preparation works. The chef allowed me to see it and ask a few questions...not something I will ever do at home... but after actually seeing it in action and understanding the dynamics - I can see how our meal benefitted. We also felt this additional opportunity to interact with the people that prepared our amazing feast simply topped off a terrfic dining experience. Finally - the location is outside the "tourist trap zone' so parking is a breeze. Cost - very reasonable! We ordered two apps, a soup, a salad and two entrees - we brought our own wine (corkage is $20) and we ordered two glasses of white to go with our apps. We were surprised to find the bill came to less than $100 per person. Certainly a splurge - but considering the quality and care given to the preparation - a big value. read more

The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of five is because the menu was pretty small, and at first I wasn't sure what I would eat (every dish had a component I don't like...but I am a bit of a picky eater). The wagu beef tenderloin was melt in your mouth. It was served with a beautiful little Fava bean salad thing (sorry, I'm not fancy enough to know what it's fancy name is) and the chef was kind enough to sub the blue cheese and short rib ravioli that came with it (I don't do blue cheese) with the wild mushroom risoto, which was amazing. We were there in the offseason, had a reservation but probably didn't need one in April. We were staying at the Rusty Parrot (which is also great!). Experience and Wild Sage was amazing, The wine list was great, our server made excellent recommendations, and everything we tried was delicious. The scallop and pork belly appetizer was divine, and for dinner I had the lamb shank, which literally fell off the bone. My husband tried the bison ribeye which was surprisingly awesome--not game-y tasting at all and came with a great sauce. The Wild Sage might be one of Jackson's best kept secrets. The menu is fresh and interesting, the staff knowledgeable and attentive. We started with a delicious wild mushroom risotto--made with local wild morels--and crab cakes that were sublime. My husband had the Wagyu strip and I had a sublime bone in elk steak. We finished with the dessert our server recommended: donut bread pudding. Mmmm. This place was a fabulous discovery! Thank you fellow yelpers. The truffle salted chiabatta was divine. The amuse Bouche sent out by the chef was just a hint of what was to come. Yum! We started with the beet and pork belly salad. Wow- what an incredible taste combination. Totally unexpected and delicious- the warm and the cool, the savory and the sweet - you can't ask for more! Onto the main course. The aged duck was very good. The breast was cooked to perfection! The perfectly crispy skin and moist meat was perfect! The thigh confit , however, was a little tough. The sauce for the breast was delicious and the grape jelly was a perfect complement. The black cod a.k.a. sablefish, was also done to perfection. Buttery buttery buttery. Bliss! Not a dish that is often found on a menu made it all the more special. We split the pear dessert. Prepare cheesecake was light and flavorful, the sorbet was a pear, as it should be! The poached pear and fiancier was good, but hard to eat. The only downside was our waiter was a little apathetic, albeit very attentive and knowledgeable. Wonderful all around. Made a reservation for our wedding night and our table was set specially for us upon our arrival. The small dining room had a very cozy atmosphere - a nice warm fire place blazing and although the room is small the 8 tables are not cramped at all. Server was very knowledgable of both the food and wine. He was very attentive without lingering around the table. Food was fantastic. The soup of the day was a wonderful flavor combination of shellfish and white chocolate. The crab cake appetizer was very good and not so large that we weren't hungry for our entrees. The elk entree was fantastic - Cooked to the chefs recommended medium rare. The trout was also very good and I really enjoyed the artichoke risotto it was served with. The open kitchen made for an enjoyable, unique dining experience. The chefs were very professional and very meticulous - each plate came out looking like a work of art. For two people with appetizer, dessert and a bottle of wine we made it out the door under $200. read more

What an awful dining experience! We travel around the world and you would be hard pressed to find a worse place than this. I think if we had gone dressed in fine clothes and my partner dripping with expensive jewellery we might have got better service as other tables seemed to with apparently wealthier diners. The waiters expression when we declined to look at the wine list and my partner ordered just hot water was one of disgust. The hot food was average but served on stone cold plates which meant that it was cold in just a few minutes. Every other restaurant we ate at in Jackson hole had hot plates and food every bit as good as this had much better service. The pompus, stuck up attitude of our waiter who swooned around other outwardly more wealthy diners left a really bad taste in our mouths. Rest assured we will never return here ever. read more

I recall the food being really great, good quality meat well cooked and the waiter didn't ask how I wanted my meat to be cooked, instead he suggested medium rare given that buffalo is pretty juicy. On the advice of a friend, we sought out this intimate dining room in the small and upscale Rusty Parrot Hotel, off the beaten path in Jackson, tucked in a quiet neighborhood by the Snake River. It was a great experience with an open kitchen part of the ambience. The staff was friendly and helpful, the wine list extensive with some great choices. The food was fabulous. We started with the Bibb lettuce salad, with asparagus shards, pistachios and bacon. Our entrees were baby back ribs and a Dijon mustard crusted Cod, both terrific and delicious. Wild Sage is pricey but not pretentious, delivering a first rate dining experience. We'll be back. read more

This is a hidden gem. It's a small place with only 8 tables. Very cozy. You can see the chef at work in the kitchen. We had the crab cake and was good, along with the frisbee salad which was delicious. We also had the gnocchi and the venison chops. It was delicious. Aleksandra was our server and she was awesome. We came a day earlier for our reservation and she was able to accommodate us. Her recommendations on the menu where great. Wish we took some photos of the food before we ate them. The food here was AMAZING. The service was good. Small dinning room, but a GREAT head chef. Flavors were blended and balanced with the grace of a ballet. EVERYTHING was good. My favorite was the soup of the day, a coconut carrot curry. Never outside of an Indian household have I had more delicious curry. Disappointing! The meal started out pretty well with good bread that had truffle oil and sea salt on it. It went downhill from there. The shrimp bisque was bland. Two people in our party had the halibut which was a small portion and very dry. They didn't even finish the small portion! One person had the lamb which was tender but bland. Had a poor experience and my hotel, The Four Seasons, told me that it was one of the best restaurants in Jackson. I booked the restaurant and told them we had a birthday we were celebrating. We called in advance to have a nice table near the fireplace. They said they would seat us in a nice spot. When we arrived, Cody proceeded to seat us next to the host table and there was a great table in the front window that was available. I asked for it and he looked at an iPad and then said it was reserved for a house guest. This started the meal off poorly. I noticed about 45 mins later a couple came in from the main entrance, not the hotel lobby and the other waitress guided them to another table but then also pointed to that table that I had wanted and they chose to go there. I do not assume this was the "house guest" that Cody mentioned as why would she give them an option. The food was fair and then when it came to dessert, they forgot the birthday and did not bring anything. It was a really disappointing experience as I was hoping to celebrate a special occasion on this special weekend. read more

My husband and I first ate here 10 years ago and again last night, and I'm happy to report that The Wild Sage is as good as ever. Sumptuous food and an intimate quiet atmosphere make it one of our top restaurants world-wide, rivaling some places we've eaten in NY and elsewhere. Great service and attention to detail here. We ate here for Christmas dinner. We were suprised it was a fixed price dinner with less options than usual. We should have been told when we made reservations. It was pretty pricey. The first night I arrived at the Rusty Parrot Lodge, I had reservations for dinner at the Wild Sage Restaurant at 6:15. My husband and I were seated at a small table wedged against an overstuffed leather couch and a table for ten. There was no more than 2 feet between our table and the one next to us. We asked if we could be seated at another table, however, the restaurant was unable to accommodate that. Throughout the evening, the wait staff and the people at the next table squeezed past us during service, during trips to the bathroom and multiple photo ops. Of note, the aforementioned couch was used as a lounge area. There were people having drinks there all through the night. The service we received was substandard. Our waitress pressured us to order: "I'm not trying to rush you or anything but..." I could sense that she wanted to make sure that she was able to turn the table over for the next seating. She then proceeded to mix up our order. Every time our drinks and food was brought out, the staff served it to the wrong person. When the waitress came to change the silverware for our entrees, she stood behind me with the steak knives and wound up dropping one of them down my back. Luckily I was not cut or pierced by the knife. I was obviously not happy. The food itself was fair. Overall, the environment and service in the restaurant was nowhere near the standards of a 4 diamond restaurant. Despite all that, the worst part of the experience was the lack of response from the management. On two different occasions I asked to speak to Matt, the head chef and manager of the restaurant. He was not available either time. I then asked to speak to Ann, the general manager of the Rusty Parrot. Despite being on the premises, she was unable to make herself available to speak to me. I was promised by the staff that she will get in contact with me. During the following 3 days that I stayed at the Rusty Parrot, I was never contacted. It did not appear that the management had an interest in hearing what my complaints were and how they may be able to use that information to improve their facilities. That doesn't speak well for them. read more
