It genuinely tasted overly sugary. The meat was juicy but not my cup of tea. The pad sie ew was so sweet like we were eating sugary cereal. Cocktails were fine.it was just very off putting and grossed me out to where I couldn't have more than a few bites. Made me super nauseous. I ate here at the suggestion of a friend. This place was featured on Triple D but I'm not sure why. It's not a dive and while the dishes that were on the show are good, the curries and the basil dishes are so much better than their dumplings. I was so excited to eat here after watching the food channel and then very disappointed when we came here. Don't get me wrong the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. We chose to eat outside because it was beautiful. We ordered the pork hash and it was delicious. I got a chicken fried rice. I was disappointed in the selection for that and other items. We got the ribs. That was awesome. Mango cheesecake is a cheesecake with mango on top of it. I guess I was expected it to be cooked into it. The food was ok, service slow even though it wasn't crowded when we first got there - it did however get very busy 30 mins after, around noon. The only thing I really liked about this place was the unsweetened iced green tea. I got the chicken pad Thai which was ok - decent price at $8.95 but if you want a spring roll it's another $1.50, and soup another $1.50. The soup of the day was egg drop soup and it was really gross - bad after taste like dirt, so didn't end up eating it. I know it's a lunch rush but the wait staff wasn't attentive and took the food so long to come out, especially comparing it to other Thai places in the area. I doubt I'll come back. read more

Probably the best panang curry ive ever had. if you order it as is, off the menu, its got a little kick, but its so rich in consistency and dense with flavor. their pricing is reasonable and the staff is real nice. everything was fresh and sauteed to a crispy texture. would come back 10/10 read more

Place was highly recommended and after seeing DDD wanted to visit for first time. We're from out of town and wanted to eat at Wild Thaiger. The issue was their lack of customer service; we were waiting for about 20 minutes even before we were even acknowledged. During which now at this point we were told there is a 15 minute wait. During the whole time of the 20 minutes at the hostesses platform, NEVER did any of the staff even say hi or acknowledge us even as they buzzed very quickly to go around us. To me that was rude and just bad customer interaction. The remark about being short staffed was mentioned but that in itself is not an excuse for being rude. I'd have more respect for the staff right off the bat of they'd mention the long wait due to lack of adequate staffing. A simple hi goes a long way. read more

I don't write reviews of everywhere I dine. Many deserve raves, some deserve boos. It's because I'm getting older and kind of out of time and lazier. But I enjoyed tonight's meal, even though I didn't do my usual overkill of ordering too many items to pack up a ton of things to take home for a few days of extra meals. My guest and I were going to the symphony so it wasn't practical. What we did order was delicious, though the ingredients selected were a guaranteed home run. Despite that, I have dined at restaurants that have managed to screw up crab meat, shrimp, and pork. Not here! I wanted a nice cold beer but it's available everywhere so instead I ordered Thai iced tea, something I love, and know will cut the heat that my wimpy tongue is not good at handling even in the mild stage and it was refreshing and perfect. For appetizers we started with the Dragon Eggz, a pork, shrimp, and crab dumpling, which I will say in future I will order steamed instead of fried, because in succumbing to the allure of crispiness, because the tops are open I feel I deprived myself of some of the delicateness of the filling. We also ordered the Crab Island, which are fried wonton skins that are used as a cup to hold a crab salad with avocado and are just delightful. For entrees I deliberately ordered the Mu Yang, because I fill up easy, and it incorporated pork skewers that were served with two sides I wanted to try- green papaya salad, and sticky coconut rice. The papaya salad is on a heat level of mild, made of papaya cut on a mandoline tossed in a chili tamarind dressing with grape tomato. The pork was juicy and tender. I did need my tea to cut the heat of the green chili tamarind dressing, but I reiterate that I am a lightweight on heat. My guest had the Pineapple Prawns, a total 5 of which were easily U-15 shrimp expertly prepared in the lightest dusting of panko and artfully arranged on the rectangular platter with pineapple, tomato, and broccoli in a tangy sauce and a side of jasmine rice. He raved about it. We really enjoyed our dinner and there was no room for dessert. When we return that will have to be taken into consideration by a longer duration on a non-symphony evening, or a night out on the patio with cocktails and appetizers on a very comfy sectional sofa under the ambient lighting and patio heaters in the coming months. read more

The Wild Thaiger is so bomb! Must try the Pork skewer that comes with the coconut rice. It was legit one of the best things I've ever had. For appetizers I had the chicken roll up ( wrong name ) But it was a pan fried chicken egg roll almost. Anyway so so so good. For main entrees I recommend the fat rice noodles. This place is so worth the stars, the drive, the good word from triple D's...whatever excuse you need to make to get here DO IT! We enjoyed outdoor seating on the patio with the heaters and intimate lighting when we stopped in. We were serviced right away and found the service to continue at a high end all the way through. I had the red curry chicken dish, I forget what the purple crisps were but in any case they were delicious, the portion was so much that I got two meals out of it. Although I was aware of the ratings beforehand, this place was recommended by staff members at the hotel we were staying at-- as well as Triple D. So what the heck, we gave it a shot. There was two other parties in the restaurant when we arrived for lunch on a Saturday, and by the time we ordered another 4 parties had arrived. Right off the bat our waitress seemed impatient and not very friendly, which isn't a good start to anyone's experience. I didn't see anyone else on the floor so she must've been the only one waiting on the tables. We started off with some veggie and chicken rolls-- which were nothing memorable. My dish was the pad Thai which again, nothing that id recommend or come back for. It lacked in flavor, and had some sort of dry pepper flakes on it which I've never had before whenever ordering this familiar dish. The other two dishes that were ordered at my table were decent in flavor but nothing special. At least the ice tea was pleasant! I've come to assume the hype is all from Triple D, otherwise... I'm a big Thai food fan and I've enjoyed the restaurant and it's gracious owner and staff for almost 2 decades now but I only recently realized just how brilliant and complex the menu is. I've always enjoyed their special rib dinner but finally caught on to how well complemented the vegetables and sticky rice with green chili sauce are. Authentic and delicious whole in the wall. Easy to miss if you do not know where it is. The food here is fantastic and portions are decent. This is one of my partners and is favorite casual date night places in downtown Phoenix. The only down size is that it has limited seating so the wait for a table can be long depending on your party size and time you show. The outdoor seating is great when the weather cools down. The service is amazing! I had one of their specialty drinks from their drinks from their menu (watermelon mojito) and it was so good...worth every penny! Moving on to the food. For my appetizer, I got the crispy chicken rolls. It came with a choice of 2 Sauces: hot or mild. I didn't try the hot sauce because I am not able to really have too much spicy food. . The mild which I'm assuming was a sweet-and-sour sauce, was so good that I started dipping my prawns in it. For my entree which was off of the dinner menu, I chose to get the pineapple prawns. The prawns were pretty large (I as they are supposed to be). It came with a sauce that contains broccoli, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, pineapple, and was a little spicy. Even though the menu doesn't say that this is a spicy dish if you don't like spicy food then this is probably not for you. I am a wimp when it comes to spicy food so this was pretty spicy for me. I don't know how the dinner is plated because I got the meals to go. So fortunately they put the sauce on the side so it was and on Everything. The prawns meal came with rice. The rice is traditional Thai rice which is really good. As far as the overall appearance of the restaurant I do like the atmosphere. The cleanliness of the restaurant is decent considering the fact that it is a mature establishment. I really enjoyed the food at this place. Great Thai food! We had a party of 10 and arrived a little after 6pm with no reservation. While it was about 30 minutes until we were seated, the bartender was attentive to us with any drinks and cocktails we wanted. Please keep in mind that this is a small restaurant with limited seating, so I recommend calling ahead if you have a party more than 4. Once we were seated, the service was great and fast! We got chicken pad Thai as a tester dish for this place and while the flavors were incredible, it was REALLY dry. Granted we got take-out, so that may have had something to do with it, but just a bit more sauce would have made a world of difference. I also asked for one with peanuts on the side (it's a texture thing for my husband); the lady taking my order kind of snickered, which I thought was odd, but she repeated it back to me accurately so I didn't think much of it. I went to Wild Thaiger several years ago and loved it. After seeing it featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives I decided to go back. What a disappointment. The dragon eggs were hard and unexceptional. The pad Thai was dry and tasted like it had been made earlier in the day and then heated up in the microwave. The ginger fish was dry and fishy tasting. We didn't know what to expect, we've driven past it a few times and always made a mental note to check it out. We finally did and I am so glad we did. We ordered the infamous dragon eggs, half and half of course. My counter part threatened to drink the sauce if it was taken away. ‍ We ordered the chicken pad Thai hot and the galee gai regular. We will definitely order the galee gai hot next time. It was great but my personal preference tends to lean towards more spice. This is the place to go if you don't want the usual!
