I hope this was an off night. We waited 35 minutes for our pager to buzz. No big deal 35 minutes is normal for any decent place. Anyhow once we were seated it took 16 minutes for a waitress to even acknowledge us. Another young woman brought waters. After that another 15 minutes went by before she returned to take our orders. And then 30 to 40 minutes for the food. We ordered all basic items. Burgers and chicken sandwiches. It was all just "good" nothing remotely close to be worthy of the price. I would skip this place if I returned to Kanab. I would just go buy stuff from the market and make sandwiches at the room. Horrible service, over priced food. read more

We went on Tuesday night and couldn't get a table until 8:30. Everyone already knows how wonderful this place is. We sat in the bar area at a table. I had the ribs and loved them. I'm pretty sure they were not smoked as I didn't notice that flavor but the were perfectly cooked. Very tender, yet not falling apart. They were sauced nicely with a spicy-sweet sauce and then a drizzle of mustard. Loved that combo! Served with a healthy portion of potatoes and scant portion of broccolini. My husband had the steak served with same sides and thought it was good, too. We stayed for a piece of carrot cake and some decaf. The carrot cake was decent but not memorable. Some of the best ribs I have ever eaten!! The griddled red potatoes and broccoli were the perfect addition to the ribs! My wife got the Alfredo Primavera and it was delicious as well. Cute place right across my hotel! Busier than you would think for such a small town, but food was great and the wait time wasn't long at all. It was a little salty and my dish, pistachio chicken (a restaurant favorite), was a tad dry with random little pieces of pasta in the sauce (the dish does not have pasta in it), but still good. The sage buttered potatoes were AMAZING-my whole family loved it. They grow most of their own produce which is impressive. Also, the waiter didn't tell us the dessert specials, but we had to overhear him from another table to ask for it. The Wild Thyme Cafe was my first stop in Kanab on a quick trip to come to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. My friend and I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was, especially for a weekend. While my review is only 3 stars, I can tell you it's not because of the food. When we arrived, we noticed the patio and it looked very tempting as the winter in Northern Utah continues to drag on, sitting in the sun sounded amazing. We were seated relatively promptly and had our drink order taken. What ensued however after that was exactly what makes the juxtaposition of small tourist town growing vs. ranch/rural culture a tad frustrating if you have visited any sort of established tourist destination, you will know excellent customer service when you see it. (I work in the hospitality industry and have spent hours in training's). Initially it seemed as if our greeter/seater was also going to be our server, she took our drink order and also told us what the chef's special was that day. (PS: again this isn't about the food, but I'll get to that in a minute). When she returned with our waters another server was right on her heels and they had a very brief and tense discussion about 'who' was going to serve us, right at our table...as I watched the body language and listened to the interaction between these two it was apparent that neither of them had ever had any sort of training as to appropriate guest service; that or they really didn't like each other and didn't care who saw it. When one of them finally deferred to the other, we were again repeated the chef's special. While I watched the server completely not pay attention to our order, I was curious if it was going to get to the kitchen correctly. Our food did come out, and as far as taste and quality it was glorious. The menu is a creative mix of world flavors with a strong propensity and preference for things that are complimented by thyme. Also huge kudos to the chef for having a excellent variety of vegetarian/vegan options. To wrap up, please visit Wild Thyme and enjoy the food, its quite delicious and in a small town that is going through some growing pains (many visitors, small work force), it can be extremely difficult to find good food. While the servers may need some polishing on etiquette, don't let that scare you off of having a delicious meal. read more

This was pretty bad. Walked in to a empty joint for lunch and ordered a round of drinks and 1 burger to split. This was lunch and their were 2 waitstaff. After 45 min when that couple got their food and we were not even checked on we had to get up and leave. We paid for our drinks and the waitress seemed shocked. Super nazis about wearing masks, very pretentious cafe. The mask thing is fine if your staff wears them. Our waiter pulled his down sever times to talk and walk around with the whole night with it off his nose. Total double standards with how the treated us when we walked in. Awful service. I do not recommend visiting this place if you are in Kanab. We checked in and she said 30 minutes to seat. This was 5:45. We didn't sit down for an hour. It took another hour to get our food. I kid you not. I ordered a medium rare ribeye medium rare and it came medium well to well. They tried to char it, but burnt it.. bad choice. If you want a size salad it's $6. When we sat down we each were given a glass of water, but our waiter never bothered to give us more, even when he saw that both of our glasses were empty. When we would speak to the waiter he acted as if he was barely hearing us. It was rude and uncalled for. The waiter was also barely present in a restaurant that had very little volume. So, we tried this place today for some early dinner on our last night here in Utah. I must say the other reviews were spot on. This place has good quality food and the ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. Our server Marsha was very good. She's very attentive to us and have given us good options on the menu which we definitely devoured and loved. We had the salmon cajun soup- it was good since it's a different twist from the normal cajun soup we usually have. For the main course, I had the grilled trout and my husband had the babyback ribs. Both choices were very good- Thanks to Marsha for helping us choose it. The grilled trout has cajun seasoning on top with cajun rice on the bottom plus it has a sauce and pickled cocumber ans bell pepper (i think) that blended well with the fish. I love how it was not salty and it's my first time eating cajun trout as well. As for the ribs, well it was simply good. Just enough sauce and flavoring and not over bearing unlike other places we've been to. Lastly, the lava cake; i mean chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream is always the best pair even if it was cold outside today. We definitely recommend this place if you're staying by Kanab or Orderville- where we're staying- they don't disappoint. Too bad I don't drink, I bet their Mojitos are good too read more

We got our first dinner here (as take-out) upon arriving at this charming town, and we were immediately blown away by the quality of the food. We ordered the pistachio chicken and the beef medallion. The ground pistachio sauce on the chicken was simply divine. And the chicken was tender. The beef medallion came with a bold sauce that complimented the meat beautifully. It was rich and full of flavor. We were so impressed by the food that we decided to get takeout here again the following day. This time we ordered tropical piggy and cliff hanger burger. I was in Kanab, Utah for business and decided to stop by Wild Thyme Café. First off, I also ordered a side garden salad. Side salad was so fresh. The dressing was beautiful and it was a huge portion. I was super impressed with just the salad. I ordered the fillet mignon medium rare and it was perfectly cooked. Also, the fillet was very fresh, and it was well presented. We came here on a sunday and there were less options as most places are closed on Sunday. They seated us pretty quickly. The portions are generous for most of the entrees. The pistachio chicken is worth it. Also if you manage to have any room for dessert, get the carrot cake. Its more like a spice cake but its definitely the most popular out of the desserts. Wow! We stopped in Kanab on the way to Zion. I found their name on a brochure in our hotel. I googled the menu and HAD to try it after looking on Instagram at the Jamaican Pork and the Pistachio Chicken. The experience was 10/10 from the parking lot. Literally. The parking was easy with plenty of spots. We were greeted by a blonde host with pig tails who was quite busy. She took the time to tell us she will be back for us. While we waited, 2 other servers acknowledged us and said they would be right with us. I don't mind waiting, but I do mind being ignored- that never happened! We then sat on the patio (per our request) as it was raining and we loved it. Our server Kristy was fantastic. She checked on us several times throughout our meal and was SO attentive. The vibe of the servers here is super rad as well. All of the servers were chill, trendy, tattoos/piercings, funny and engaging. To top off the experience, the food was FABULOUS! Exactly as shown on Insta. Topped with a Key Lime Pie. Being from Phoenix, I am used to mediocre food with less than ideal service. I was SO in love with this place.
