We went on a Sunday night. Service was OK, a little slow on refills but good check ins. Tenderloin tips were very flavorful and tender, but the presentation and cut were a bit sloppy. I liked the mac and cheese but there was something off about the flavor of the broccoli. Also they gave my husband basically a whole head of broccoli, uncut. I was a bit surprised about the interior, and the little details. I used the restroom and the toilet paper holder was empty, so the huge roll was set back on the sanitary napkin dispenser. The soap dispenser was missing its cover, which makes the place seem cheap compared to what they charge. Host at check in seemed overwhelmed and exhausted. It happens. read more

We recently had a very disappointing experience at this upscale neighborhood restaurant that's normally packed, though oddly it was nearly empty the evening we visited. Unfortunately, the service and kitchen execution may have explained why. One member of our party ordered the prime rib medium rare. Before it arrived, a manager came to the table to explain that the kitchen had "misjudged the timing" and the prime rib had come out medium instead. However, when a runner briefly brought the plate to the table before taking it back, it was obvious the issue was far worse than simply medium versus medium rare -- one half of the cut appeared closer to rare/medium rare while the other half was cooked beyond well done. What was especially surprising was that instead of offering to properly remake the entree, they were asked to simply choose something else from the menu. The problem was that they had specifically chosen this restaurant for the prime rib and found nothing else appealing enough to order instead. Compounding the issue, the rest of the table had already received their entrees, making it clear that even if another dish were ordered, it likely would not arrive until everyone else had finished eating. As a result, they ended up going without an entree entirely. Only later did our actual server stop by to say he had "just heard" about the situation and casually mentioned that another nearby table had experienced the same issue. That did little to inspire confidence in either the kitchen or communication among staff. The manager mentioned that he had "taken care of some things," and while a few items were apparently comped, the final resolution felt underwhelming given the circumstances. For a restaurant that is part of a major hospitality group with hundreds of locations, this experience fell well below the level of professionalism, service recovery, and guest care one would reasonably expect. Mistakes happen in restaurants, even good ones. What matters is how they are handled. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling that the restaurant was far more interested in moving past the problem than truly making it right. read more

My boyfriend and I are a mixed couple and as soon as we walked in, the host at the door looked at us and said can I help you? What do you need? My boyfriend looked at me and I looked at him and my boyfriend thought it was a joke. My boyfriend says I wanna eat. That's why we are here. This is a restaurant correct. We didn't let the guy at the front spoil our evening. It was our 2nd anniversary (dating).. you have to be careful who you disrespect. You never know who they are. And he had no idea who we were. This place is great for gluten free. They have a full dedicated menu and know how to modify everything on the menu (that they can) to make gluten free. The waiters are super knowledgeable and it was great. The place itself is also really nice on the inside with an upscale but comfortable feel. The French onion soup was made gluten free and was really good. Definitely one of my favorite parts of the meal. The steaks were cooked the way we asked, the only negative is that they had basically no seasoning so they were insanely plain tasting (not in a good way). The hands down best thing we had was the flourless chocolate cake. That thing was soooooo good. Rich, moist and flavorful. I would 10000% go back simply for that cake. read more

Visited Wildfire with some out of town family on our last night in Chicago and it couldn't have been more perfect. Our server was amazing and made our night - he was knowledgeable of the menu and very fun to interact with. The interior is that of a classic steakhouse with beautiful woodwork and open dining room seating. Wildfire brings the heat when it comes to its food and experience. The ambiance is segmented to different locations. You have the bar seating to your left after the entrance. You have the large area in the middle. You have some private rooms for smaller events. I came for a private event with the set menu provided. My favorite part was probably the appetizers including meatballs, flatbread, and calamari. All these dishes provided excellent protein with great textures. The salad was just okay as well as the desserts. Nothing special. I had both the filet migon and salmon. Both were good, but nothing phenomenal. First time trying wildfire, the house bread was warm and soft but I personally am not a huge fan of bagel seasonings but still enjoyable. We had drinks as well and they were strong , truthfully probably not the best presentation or taste wise just not worth $17bucks a drink. Food, I had lamb chops and scallops with Mac and cheese plus veggies and salad. I really enjoyed the veggies and scallops with bacon were super tasty. I've never written a restaurant review before, but after the experience my family and I had here, I felt like I had to. This was genuinely the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. My steak was messed up three separate times, and both of my family member's steaks were also cooked incorrectly. After sending food back multiple times, you would think they would make sure it came out right, but somehow it kept getting worse. I also ordered baked mac and cheese, and it wasn't even baked. For a restaurant charging $50 to $60 per steak, the quality and attention to detail were honestly embarrassing. I do want to say that our server was good and did the best they could throughout the situation, so this is not a reflection on them at all. What made the experience even worse was the manager's attitude. Instead of taking accountability, he was incredibly condescending and acted like we were the problem. He tried to make it seem like he was doing us some huge favor by taking off the fries and calamari, which were the cheapest things we ordered, while completely ignoring the fact that multiple $50 to $60 steaks were ruined three times. The host said "unfortunately we do not" Throughout the meals waiters and servers were constantly either picking up my hat, scarf and coat from the floor. A fellow Guest indicated that they indeed do have a coat room. Waiter staff also said they had a coat room. Upon leaving I asked at a side counter where the coat room was the woman said "next door". Sure enough when I opened the door. There was a room Full of coats, arf and hats. When what appeared to be a manager came out, I asked him Why I was told there was no coat room, he said it was "reserved for employees". This excuse was unacceptabl, why would A host lie to a regular customer and tell me there is none? Our main complaint was with the food preparation the ribeye steak which was ordered at medium was delivered at blood rare. You would think. That meat that was undercooked would at least be tender, but this was the toughest piece of meat I have ever encountered. My dining partner ordered the lamb chops, which were also blood rare and adequately seasoned. My wife's filet was well done but ordered medium although the char was perfection. The waitress was adequate, but not at all outstanding or even above average. This used to be a moderately priced restaurant. But when your ribeye cost $64.95 And your lamb chop $63.95 you're closing in on the price of dinner at Bavettes. Most assuredly your dinner at Bavettes would embarrass your experience at Wildfire. The food was alright. The Shrimp and Lobster Bisque was great. From there, my main entrée came and everything looked good. The cut of ribeye steak I received was a bit fattier than I like. This place in the city is hard to get to as being downtown and traffic is busy. Even with that the food is good and the service is on mark if not better. Beware if you make reservations, they take your credit card#. If you fail to cancel 24 hrs before reservation, they will charge $30/person on the credit card on file. I enjoy the crab and lobster bisque. I ordered the scallops DeJonge for the first time and it had 8 scallops. Quite a meal! The filet trio is always a treat with your pick of toppings. Picked wildfire to host an important business dinner recently and was completely thrilled with the results. We had a private dining room which served all of our confidentiality needs well. Everyone was seated comfortably. We had a group of nearly 20 people with plenty of space. The weight staff was incredible. Their attentive without being disruptive and the food was phenomenal. I had a wonderful steak, great mashed potatoes along with it and the desserts that they presented were out of this world wonderful berry crumble, and some chocolate cake as well. We've heard good things about this place and finally tried it out last night. The ambiance is very inviting - think old school Chicago steak house. The Holiday decor was inviting (I wonder if it might be a bit cold without the decor?) Sorry no pictures, we were too hungry. We started with martini's and the crab stuffed mushroom caps. Martinis are LARGE (as a steakhouse martini should be), and the caps were good - very cheesy, but you still tasted the crab. Olivia, our server, was great. - friendly and sharing and funny. We each had a glass of wine with dinner. The 'by the glass' list isn't large, but they do have a bottle list. I think Mondays are half price bottle days... For our mains, we had the daily special beer braised short ribs (comes with. roasted root veggies and a potato of your choice) and the pistachio crusted flounder (comes with choice of sides). We had, for our sides, the potatoes au gratin and a baked potato. The short rib was fall apart and really delicious, veggies cooked well. The au gratin potatoes were ok - they could have been cheesier. The flounder had a super crunchy pistachio crust, which was really good. The baked potato was huge (came with butter and sour cream). We were stuffed, so no desert, but we will save room next time! read more

This is our go to spot in the city for great steak. This last time we visited this steak house I got broiled New York strip and my wife got the pistachio crusted flounder. My steak came out perfect and the fish my wife ordered was delicious as well. Drinks are strong and beer is cold. Great spot for dinner. Service as always was very good. My husband has Celiac disease so eating at restaurants even if they claim to be gluten-free has always been a risk. I can't tell you how many places we have eaten where he has ordered off the gluten-free menu and has gotten ill. I am going to brag about Wildfire and their preparation of gluten-free food. They are doing it right because he did not react to the food. He started with bread, then the entree, and had flourless chocolate cake and he enjoyed it all. We live close to the Erie St location. For whatever reason (we had one near us in the suburbs) but we have never stopped in to dine. It was a cold night, we were hungry early and we decided to sit at the bar and have something to eat. The host greeted us immediately and directed us to the bar. The bartender, Jordan came over and welcomed us in and offered us menus. He pointed out that it was restaurant week and offered the menu. He was warm, kind, efficient... everything you would want in a bartender. We ordered salmon, strip steak, au gratin, creamed spinach and soup and spinach salad. We also had ordered shrimp cocktail. The food was delicious and such a generous portion! Highlights were the protein and the au gratin! The service was excellent from the expeditor to the busser to the bartender! I can't say enough about how nice the whole experience was!!! We will definitely go back and it deserves a mention that Wild Fire should be packed. read more

A solid spot if you are in the River North Spot. This LEYE restaurant specializes in very good steaks, salads and seafood. While I wouldn't put it up there with the classic steakhouses in Chicago, it has some unique options to make it stand out. I had the filet trio and took the mushroom, horseradish and Parmesan toppings. While not huge, they were very favorable and would recommend all three (with the Parmesan the stand-out). We had sides of asparagus and potatoes. I would say the asparagus was slightly over cooked but the vinaigrette was a nice add. read more
