I've been here twice now with Morgan Hill location. The very first time I went was when they first opened probably three months after they opened. I went in on Monday dinner and the place needed a reservation. I sat at the bar with my friend and had wines because we were not hungry after a late lunch. The wine list was lovely. I am an expertise in wines in general that thought the wine list could be interesting and attractive. The second time I went, I went with friends who visited from overseas and ordered these two items with wines as well. Like I mentioned before, the wines are lovely as always. The food was fine. This opinion is coming from all three of us. My friends even thought American dish that was made in Korea was better than the ones here. So I guess this shows the food was not too fabulous. However, I thought the food was good. Maybe not worth the price though. The portion is quite a lot in my opinion. I just thought the quality and flavor was not quite right with the prices given. (I don't care really about a portion at all) As long as the food is good, I would afford for anything. Anyways, I want to try some other main dishes and perhaps update this review (hopefully better). Went for dinner and had amazing service as well as wonderful food. It is what you do when something does not go right: steak came to table not cooked to temperature: without asking waitress took it back and they ended up not charging. I love the atmosphere and with this experience will always trust them and go back. read more

Willard Hicks was one of our favorite restaurants, and we've celebrated a lot of special occasions there. Unfortunately, last night was an absolutely terrible experience and it was our first time at a restaurant in over a year. After being seated, it took over 25 minutes before anyone came to our table, and had to ask the hostess (Chloe) for help to get our waiter. 15 minutes later we finally got our drinks, but our waiter disappeared again and we couldn't order food. We got frustrated and requested a new waiter, and got Cameron who provided great service for the rest of the evening. Unfortunately, the kitchen was also dragging. Our Poki appetizer took about 20 minutes to come out, then the Pesto Cheesy Bread took an additional 15 minutes. After being there for almost 2 hours, we decided to not order entrees and leave. Ended up at the taco bell drive-through on our way home. Chloe (Hostess) and Cameron (Waiter) - seriously, thank you for the great service and for trying to improve our experience. Drinks and appetizers were outstanding. Should have stopped there. Dinner took an hour to come out. Soup arrived with entrees, sent it back. Our table had 3 salads with salmon added. One salmon was served skin side up. None of the salads were fresh looking, looked as if it was pourded from a bag. I had the swordfish, or should I say slice of bologna. It was the thinest piece of swordfish I have ever seen, however the flavor was good. Server comped the appetizers, but should have comped the entrees, they were the problem. Very rude manager! We went in at 3pm no one else in there, took my mask off to drink my water and order a bottle of wine. The Manager got all over me for not having a mask on .. while I'm trying to drink my water!! I told her I had a mask in my purse...! She was so rude!! I'm 69 years old and she treated me like crap!! The food here is so delicious. I went here for a date and the ambience was so nice. Their service was pretty okay. Very friendly but not as attentive as I had hoped them to be. Overall it's pretty decent food, and it's in a very convenient spot. Their outdoor dining area is just beautiful and so comfortable. Inside is a bit cold so I'd opt to sit outside by the fireplaces. read more

First time here, came for a birthday, took two hours for dinner to be served, appetizers came BEFORE our drinks, and they told us last call before our entrees were even served, so we had to order more drinks and dessert BEFORE our entrees even came out. Mind you we came at 7:30, they close at 9:30. mind blown with this slow horrible service. Also brought two kids and they are falling asleep at the table waiting for their meals.. thinking they were a 5 star restaurant from what I had heard.. had to have them clear the table a couple of times just to not feel like my table was packed before my entrees came. not sure if I'll be back, couldn't even tell you how the dinner went because I'm still waiting and it's 9:25pm read more

Went to Morgan Hill location This place is very nicely decorated and has great outdoor seating. The gold was average and the service was bad. Was hoping for some delicious food but wasn't anything to brag about. After a few months decided to give the Campbell location a try and got take out. $60 lunch tastes like a $20 lunch. The sticky chicken was bland and the burger was undercooked for medium well. Unfortunately having the same experience with the food twice won't get us to go back there. read more

Ridiculous indoor seating restrictions. Upon arrival with reservations for two with inside seating, we were led to a table so small it would've been impossible to place our food, appetizers and drinks on it without it being a circus like balancing act. At the time, only three tables inside were occupied. When we asked for a larger table, we were told that all the other tables were reserved for parties of three or more. I found this interesting as the other three (larger) tables which were occupied each contained only two people. Only after we said that we would eat elsewhere and started to leave, were we offered seating at a larger table. Interestingly enough, throughout our stay only three tables (including ours) were occupied in the mostly empty restaurant. Perhaps we did not "look" like the type of clientele they preferred to serve? The food was good, but we won't go back. read more

Willard Hicks, I am just so sad you can't get it together and be a high quality restaurant in Morgan Hill. For reference, I've dined here probably 6 times over the past 3 years, and just keep hoping that they can get their act together so I keep giving them a chance. The good--the food was pretty good, but a chopped salad, cornbread, and Ahi appetizer should be pretty easy to get right. Good--the drinks. However, I ordered a Blue Moon beer on tap (the Rombauer was $26/glass--do you know the entire bottle at BevMo is $45??!!). Husband had a mojito, which was on point. The Bad--Service!! Willard Hicks continues to be understaffed with inattentive wait staff. It takes a long time for anyone to acknowledge you are there, much less take your order. Bus staff and bar staff that were not assigned to your "area" were standing around and wouldn't jump in to help someone who was overwhelmed with service. All in all, will I come back? We had a horrible experience at WH last night as we celebrated our girlfriend's milestone birthday. Since we had 7 people, they split our table in 2 and we had the birthday girl hop between tables to be with everyone. The female manager yelled and reprimanded us several times for doing so. Yet there was a table who had 9 people at once but she said nothing. We felt discriminated and treated unfairly... even though we only had 4 people at any given time. We understand the requirements for social distancing but the way the manager yelled and reprimanded us in front of other customers was uncalled for! No customer should be treated or spoken to with that kind of tone. I highly recommend she gets training on customer service. We are definitely not coming back if this is how we are treated. read more

Just stopped by for a drink. Loved the outdoor seating with the fire pits and couches. The umbrellas over them keep in the heat and it stays warm in a chilly night. Service was quick and friendly. Large list for wines, beers and cocktails. We had just had dinner elsewhere and didn't look at food menu. I was surprised that they served the drinks in glassware with a concrete patio. The wine glasses are beautiful and thin but when a drunken patron sitting near us on the couch lost her grip, we ended up with glass on us and in our drinks. Since the glasses are tall stemmed and thin glass, it shattered in a million pieces. We told our server and other than getting us new drinks, nothing more was said and the glass around our feet was not cleaned up. We moved to another couch and there was broken glass all around there. Thank goodness it's cold we were wearing heavier shoes or boots. I would not wanted to be there with sandals or with a child. This place is classy and chic but, serving drinks in glasses outside is not a wise choice. Probably won't sit outside again, came home and found slivers of glass on our clothes. read more

We have reservations for a birthday dinner at this nice establishment until today. 30 mins early and they wouldn't take the birthday cake and hold it. The hostess denied us until at exact time whenever everyone arrives. So we walked out and wanted to sit near the fire but was denied that too. I told them I have a handicap and I need to sit. There are plenty of empty tables and chairs and no one near. I spoke to the manager Breana and she explained that they weren't excepting cakes into their kitchen. I Accommodations were made and the cake is on a small table they brought out. If that was offered then great. But being handicap with a broken leg they gave me grief for wanting to sit at a empty chair. I disagree with your staffs action. It only took 2 minutes after I sat at one of your chair that a staff member advise me that I couldn't sit there. I told him I'm handicap and just need to sit for a moment. He then told me to ask the hostess if I can sit there at which then I walked over again to the hostess and she said I couldn't because that outside table was reserved. Again I told her I just needed to sit for a bit because I'm handicap. Then she advised me she had to go ask the manager,I told her to go ask then. She then ask the bartender and he walked around the bar and then turned around to go back around the bar. Then your hostess came back and said it was okay. It took three individual to finally get permission to SIT at a vacant table. So if that's how you treat your guest that are handicap, then you might want to take a sensitivity course on how you treat a handicap person. Also when all party members were seated and drinks were taken, it took your staff 45 mins to just only gets us water to drink. At that time we all had it with your lack of service and walked out. My girl friend's 50th birthday went down as a major disappointment. There are no excuses for that kind of treatment. She was embarrassed and cried later because of your lack of understanding and inability to serve us for what was supposed to be a memorable 50th birthday. We reserved the 2 back rooms it was a total of about 20 of us, and our server Isaac was just amazing, was always checking in on us in both rooms to make sure we were ok needed anything, he had others help him but Isaac went the extra mile he was very friendly, sad it was his last day there but he said he will be at the Campbell location we will stop by there! My 3rd time going to WH , but first time to their MH location. Met my friend their for Dinner on a weeknight, and sat down outside, got lucky since our table was right next to a fire pit. Greeted by a server, brought us water, and we reviewed their menu. We ordered lump crab cakes for App, and they were good but fried. For main meal, ordered their Filet 8 oz but would of liked more choices: NY only 1 option 14 oz, & only 1 Bone in Rib eye- 18oz, no smaller sizes, seems odd for a Steakhouse- where's the variety ? I ordered my Steak med-well, but it came out well-med but thankfully still tasted good! My buddies was cooked med-well, but he ordered Med. We ordered their signature steaks which inc a great sauce. Service was great and we had no issues. My other issue was their Chairs outside were metal with no cushion & its cold out, not Summer yet so adding a seat cushion would make it better, perhaps people would stay longer, eat/drink more if ya had comfortable seats . Came here with my husband for our wedding anniversary on a Monday evening. Had reservations and were seated immediately. We sat for 10 minutes before being acknowledged by our waiter. He was nice enough but not attentive, kind of a smart ass. The salad came out soggy, the baked potato rock hard and cold. The steak was super fatty and cold. The runners brought the food out and the waiter never came to check and see how we were doing. After 10 minutes I finally found him and told him we needed to leave and wanted the check. Flies, flies, and some more flies. That is literally what I can remember from my last dining experience at this Willard Hicks location. For such a nice restaurant, I am really surprised by the amount of flies that are roaming around. I normally don't care if there's a fly or two, but I literally saw a few other tables near me also spending a good amount of time swatting them away. Besides the annoying flies, the food was okay. I felt like the sauce on the ginger ponzu bone in rib eye was a bit overwhelming. I'd suggest you ask for it on the side, unless you like your steak to be overpowered with salty/sweet flavors. I also tried their fries, which looks pretty cool since they come out in jenga bricks, but they weren't as crunchy as I'd imagine. I really like the aioli that comes with it though. Brussels sprouts side were meh, order it if you really like it but I think there's probably better side options on their menu. read more

Pretty nice atmosphere , but it's kind of weird that they have a lot of flies which kept trying to land on our mediocre corn bread. Sticky chicken reminds me of orange chicken. I ordered a medium rare filet blackberry mignon which came out super rare. I would recommend just ditching the blackberry and just get a regular filet. The blackberry sauce overpower the flavor of the steak which was a huge disappointment. Overall the food was meh , but I'm giving it a few stars for the service , drinks and atmosphere . I think I'll come back in a few months and try something else on the menu. read more

Food was delicious. Came here on Wednesday for a date night and the poke appetizer was fresh and delicious. The service was great and fast, sat on time food came out quick. For opening weekend on a Friday night, everything was seamless. Great ambiance, fabulous service, and the food was delish. We went for a late night dinner, and we were told about a 35 minute wait, which turned out to be about 10-15 minutes. We waited at the outside bar, where we almost stayed for the remainder of the evening because it had such a great vibe, but we went ahead and took a table inside. I am a fan of rib eye, so I tried the Ginger Ponzu Bone-In Rib Eye. It was cooked perfectly, but the sauce was a tiny bit on the salty side. Also tried the Southern Style Wedge Salad, which was fabulous. The Some Like It Hot, cucumber, jalapeño margarita had a great jalapeño flavor, but the 2 I had weren't spicy. Willard Hicks is a nice addition to downtown Morgan Hill. Ambiance is great and the staff was properly trained and did a great job for the grand opening night which we attended. Happy hour specials are on point and the indoor/outdoor bar is eye catching. Side dishes were all really good and steak was pretty good too. The manger of this location was really sweet and got us a private room on opening night for our party of 7 which made our night extra special. For constructive feedback, the coffee came out a little cold with dessert. Have to watch that temperature but other than that everything else was great. Key Lime Tartlet for dessert was a crowd favorite, worth a try if your looking for something sweet and fresh. read more

This will be a long review as we spent two hours at this restaurant. So if you need to get to the recap, skip right to the "Here's What I Think..." below. Our experience was really that of a 3.5 star, but it wasn't quite a 4-star, so I went with 3 star. You be your own judge :). We had a reservation for 7:45pm, but arrived about twenty minutes early. Even though we saw a couple of 4-seat tables, we actually were seated at 7:45. Eventually we were seated at a 2-seat table, which we could not see from our vantage point. However, our dining neighbors informed us that the seat had been open for a little bit. Perhaps their policy is to stick to reservations. Not a big deal to me. The interior decorators did an awesome job at making it feel elegant (chandeliers and soft lighting), yet rustic with it's farmhouse feel (exposed brick and wooden tables). Unfortunately for me, the ambience was ruined by the noise level. While we waited for our seats, we stood next to the bar (which is immediately to the left of entrance). LOUD. Even after we were seated (away from the bar), the noise level was deafening. It was way to difficult to hold a conversation without leaning in. We also sat directly in front of the DJ. Which reminds me, why is a DJ needed in this kind of setting. It was really too noisy to even here what he was playing. I'm not sure if they are trying to cater to those diners looking to enjoy fine dining (their prices suggest that they are) or to the crowd who want to party (the acoustics and DJ). We ordered the Cheese & Charcuterie Board, the Signature Ribeye and the signature Pork Chop. At $22, I felt that the cheese and meat platter was lackluster and was surprised with their choice of crumbled bleu cheese. The birthday girl wasn't impressed with her pork chop, but was delighted with the mashed potatoes that accompanied her meal. As for me, the ribeye was delicious. When it first arrived, I thought, oh, this is too much demi glace, but it wasn't really. I enjoyed it very much. Although I felt comfortable paying the $44 for it, others feel that it is too pricey. The pork chop was $26.00. It just so happened the my dining neighbor ordered the same meal that I did. Although we stated it in different ways, the meal needed a more substantial accompaniment other than the crispy onions. I feel like mashed potatoes would have been the perfect pairing. By the way, there were barely any mushroom slices included. As for seating in our area, the tables were extremely close. We almost didn't have a choice to strike up a conversation with our neighbors. Side note: Our dining neighbor showed me a picture on her phone, which appeared to be manure left in one of the stalls at Willard Hicks. I will say that when I went into the bathroom (the first stall), it was fully stocked and cleaned. However, she was in stall number two and the waste appeared to be in between stall number two and three. Once I told our server, he said that he would have someone go take care of it. Jordan, our server, was excellent. He was attentive, courteous and he anticipated our needs. We didn't have to wait long periods for anything, including water. It's because of his service and my meal, that I feel this is a 3.5 star. Here's What I Think...If you're looking for a night out with some friends and loud conversation with decent food at slightly inflated prices, then this is the place for you. If you're interested in a quiet, intimate meal, this isn't the place. Keep searching, it's out there. read more

Here is the low down for trying WH for the first time. Atmosphere: pretty nice decor and service was spot on. They have a very good staff which kept it professional. When we needed refills they were there to help assist. Food: it was ok. You need to compare it to an Outback Steakhouse or some sort, nothing like Alexander Steakhouse level. Foods we ordered. Crab cakes - pretty good. I liked it but some might like it smaller and crunchier all around. Corn bread - was alright not bad, maybe decent like Prova level Stinky Chicken - sauce was a little too much, which make the rice a lot soggier than it was. The inside of the meat, which was chicken breast was wayyy to dry. It was pretty much a big piece of chicken with too much glaze. Kinda tastes like Cheesecake Factory's Orange Chicken. Blackberry Glazed Filet Migon- stay away. The sour taste and the savory do not go well together. I had a friend say it tastes good but I guess it was because she was pregnant. She'd eat anything. Was nasty and a waste of $40. The Abigail cocktail drink - really good. Had enough alcohol in it. So overall I must say this restaurant was alright. Way better than Forbes Grill on Cochrane. Maybe I should order something else on the menu like burger and fries. read more

My family and I went here for dinner on a weekend. Our food was Mediocre at best. Our apps were good but our dinner was pretty terrible. My tacos were covered in onion strings, I mean covered, I had to dig my tacos out. My sons Mac n Cheese was very basic and his fries were still rather under cooked inside. My fiancés steak was supposed to be medium but came out well done. The staff seemed apologetic but not overly concerned. They did comp us dessert but we still paid $50+ for a steak he didn't eat. Thay had me at free corkage - free for the first bottle! So we decided to try them out. We ordered steak, corn, cauliflower and street tacos. Everything was so delicious!!!!! Our waitress Shawna was very nice and attentive. We definitely come back to this place. The fries are bad! Don't order the fires. They are dry and big and taste less. My hubby & I wanted to go somewhere nice but local for our 14 year anniversary dinner. My co-workers love going to Willard Hicks so I made reservations for us. We got seated right away & ordered an appetizer & our entrees pretty quickly. My hubby & I consider ourselves calamari connoisseurs & have to say, Willard Hicks by far has the best calamari we've ever had. We always compare the calamari we try to The Crows Nest in Santa Cruz & now we have a new favorite. It's called Calamari steak & is on the "starters" menu but... it's the most tender, flavorful calamari that I didn't want to stop eating. My burger was delicious & my hubby loved the baby back ribs. Great service and food. Ordered an old-fashioned, and it was pretty darn good. I had the fillet minion. It was cooked medium rare and seasoned well. I didn't try one of the optional sauces. The sides were prepared well. The mac and cheese seem to need a tad more salt. Brussel sprouts were great! Mashed potatoes were fine. All in all, it was a good experience. read more
