I have to give Willie's Pinchos a perfect score. It's the first Diners, Drive-In's and Dives that knocked it out of the park for me. Yeah ...it's a true "dive" but the place is clean and the food is mouthwatering INCREDIBLE!!! My daughter and I ordered the steak and pastrami Jibaritos. This sandwich is made with flattened and fried green plantains instead of bread. The steak, pastrami, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes tastes amazing with the plantains. Everything is made fresh and is served piping hot. The service is terrific. As soon as we walked in we were graciously greeted and a lot of time was given explaining the menu options. Come here if you want a good taste of Puerto Rico. Willie's Pinchos is located in the heart of Orlando's diverse Latino community in the east side of town. The place is super small and could only fit maybe 10-15 people max. It's a little hole in the wall but don't let that fool you as the food will have you coming back for more. I came in for lunch after reading about how Guy Fieri made a stop to their place and taped an episode of DDD. In the show, they featured a sandwich called the Jabarito which is two fried plantains instead of bread with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, ketchup, cheese and your choice of meat. When I saw that, I knew I had to order it. I came in and ordered the steak Jabarito and the sandwich is a lot for $8. The meat is super tender and tasteful and I could barely finish it. This place also offers some really good traditional Puerto Rican dishes including pinchos and empanadas. If you're not into Latin food, they got a good selection of burgers and sandwiches. The staff is super friendly and I really felt like I was in Puerto Rico as the place was full of local Latinos coming in and being greeted by the staff as if they were family. Sorry that I need to give you all the bad news but I tried this place because it was on TV. I had pernil over fries, and 2 Pinchos. This is to warn newcomers to the area to avoid this place by all means. Guy Fieri featured this place on DDD. The Pinchos were edible yet the chicken still had a slight pink color in the middle. Great portion size and tender. Pork Pinchos decent and the bread with them is nice. My pernil over fries was cheap fries, and fake pernil. I've been here twice now and the food definitely does not disappoint! The first time I had the Jibarito Pernil. It was AMAZING! The tostones served as the bun and it had lettuce and tomato with a spicy mayo. I wasn't really a fan of having the fries with the tostones and I wished for another side. The second time I had the chicken chunks combo with the mofongo. The mofongo is RIDICULOUS! It's so flavorful - especially if you're a fan of garlic. And there are so many textures there. I also had the passion fruit lemonade. I watched them grind the passion fruit last time and add it to the lemonade. I was a frequent customer and even have proof of ALL of my transactions, I am now not a fan of this place because they charged me TWICE for the same meal, told me that the transaction would go away and to call back the next day. This place lives up to the Yelp hype! We headed here for an office team lunch and I'm glad we did. Every once in a while we hit up a local spot and have what we hope will be a Yelp-worthy lunch. Today did not disappoint. Willie's came through for us! We usually do some research before we pick a lunch spot and try something different and awesome. Willie's definitely checked both those boxes. All the reviews I read said they have awesome food, a lot of food for the money and good service. We found all three to be accurate. The food is a mix of Puerto Rican and American food. I'll say, I've never been to Puerto Rico, but if I stayed for any length of time (and the food is like what I had at Willie's) I'd have to buy two plane tickets to fit in a seat home! I started with the pork pincho, which is a skewer of pork loin that has a bbq type sauce and some fresh bread. It was $3 and delicious. I think 2 skewers and some fries could be a meal, but since this was our first time here we wanted to explore a little. I also ordered a jibarito (pronounced HIB-a-reeto) which is a sandwich that uses a mashed out and fried plantain (tostone) for the top and bottom to the sandwich. I ordered the steak-strami which is steak and pastrami. It has lettuce and tomato and some other ingredients. The only place I found that I might not survive on Willie's menu is the mayo-ketchup. Apparently that is a thing and in other reviews I've referred to it (mixing mayo and ketchup) as devil worship. I say that purely in jest, and by "say it" I mean type it. I asked Willie to hold the mayo-ketchup on my jibarito. They politely obliged and put it on the side. I ordered a platter that came with fries. One of the things I noticed on the menu was garlic cilantro sauce, so I asked for a side of that. It was awesome and I'll ask for it on my next jibarito order. It was good with the fries too. As with other Yelpers, I couldn't eat it all. I only ate about half my fries. Lastly, worth mentioning is the lemonade offered at Willie's. Willie said we should try the lemonade, so we had to try it right? I ordered the strawberry lemonade and it was great. Served in a Mason jar with plenty of ice, I thoroughly enjoyed it with my meal. One of the things that will bring me back to Willie's is the variety of options they have on their menu. They have a variety of burgers, sandwiches and traditional Puerto Rican food and if today's sampling was any indication, it is all awesome. This place is expanding for a reason and the reason is that the food is AMAZING. Truly felt that island vibe. The place is small yet very COZY. You go in and try finding a seat, lucky for us there were 5 seats available. The waiter will bring the menu and honestly we almost order everything from the menu. My favorite was the shrimp pincho, the papas locas that consisted of fries cheese chicken bacon ranch mayo and ketchup they were DELICIOUS . I also loved the Mofongo it was very soft and tasty. Sooo yea I'm alil upset I didn't know about this place before Guy Fieri went here. Even though when I spoke to Willie's wife Yesenia which I can say is a sweetheart of a women, she said they were always a busy place but now that this was featured on Guy Fieri's Triple D they are crazy busy! One thing I can say this place is hard to find, so if you didn't see this on Triple D it's a place that someone has to tell you about cause it's off of East colonial in the cut and you will miss it. The food here is off the chain but just be ready for alil wait though food can take anywhere to 30 maybe 40 min wait. People need to understand with being on Triple D they are even busier than before and also they cook to order so the food is nice and fresh. So far I've had the pinchos and they are big and packed with flavor!! I also tried the famous mofongo with steak man that mofongo was soft and moist. I had the jibaritos with steak and pastrami that Guy Fieri tried it was super good just really big and messy. The papas locas are really good too just get soggy fast with the ranch and ketchup but I don't mind, they also have really really good alcapurria and empanadas!! Let's start with the good, affordable prices for sure. Getting great portions also, considering what you pay. The bacon chicken ranch fries are what really got me! I will order those again. They have this garlic cilantro dressing/sauce that just puts it over the edge! Their shrimp was great and had a little kick. 3 to a skewer but well worth it given the size. I ordered 2 BBQ pork Pinchos and i wouldn't recommend them. I ate half of one piece on one 4 piece skewer. They were just too hard. I ordered 2 which resulted in wasted $$$. So while I was hungry and looking for something new, I ran into this place online. When I saw the great reviews and the word "Pinchos", I was sold and quickly did a U-turn on Colonial with a hungry stomach and dreams of "Pinchos"... For those of you who don't know, a "Pincho" is basically a kebob or skewer. In Puerto Rico we call them "Pinchos" and usually consists of some sort of meat, poultry or seafood, BBQ grilled served with garlic bread and/or "tostones" (Fried plantains). It had been more than two years since I had a Puerto Rican Pincho, So I did not think twice. First off: I'm going to provide a bit of interesting information on this place, but if you are interested in only reading my review on the food, scroll down to where it says "THE FOOD!" Upon arrival, I noticed the place was small, but perfect. It really represents what we call "chinchorros" in Puerto Rico. Kind of your "Hole in the wall sort of place". As a matter of fact, Orlando Weekly published an article in 2016 where Willie's Pinchos was named as one of "24 hole-in-the-wall Orlando restaurants you should've tried by now". I did not know this, but when I arrived, Willie's sweetheart of a wife, Yesenia, welcomed me with a smile on her face and treated me like If I had been her long time friend and we talked for a while. She noticed I was taking pictures and that I kept mentioning how surprised I was I had not heard of this place before (Being Puerto Rican, I often seek out legit Puerto Rican restaurants and I am VERY picky as to what I call legit). It was then and there when she gave me some interesting facts about Willie's Pinchos. She explained that they had recently moved into this location about a year ago and that they had been featured in Orlando Weekly. She also showed me a signed picture of Guy Fieri, from The Food Network, who visited their restaurant this past February and filmed a program that will be airing on April 28, 2017. THE FOOD- First Visit- Pinchos: A-MA-ZINGGG! First time I visited, on a Thursday, I went for their Chicken Pincho with a side of fried plantains, but there are other options to select from. All Pinchos come with a side of Garlic bread and a bit of salad. Prep time was about 15 minutes, which is ok with me because even though this is a small place, it's still a sit-down restaurant where the food is prepared fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed my Pincho and it reminded me of days in the Island of Puerto Rico enjoying food through Piñones. I enjoyed it so much, I promised Yesenia I would come again, during the weekend, to bring Juan with me. I remember I called Juan to tell him about my experience and he was disappointed and didn't get him any food. But don't worry, I came back on Saturday! THE FOOD- Second Visit- Loaded fries, empanadas, Piña Colada, Fried everything and 911: Saturday night, I visited again, with hopes of having the same happy experience. I brought my Puerto Rican neighbors with me and Juan, of course. We all started off with some appetizers and Juan and I had crab empanadas (Empanadas de jueyes), which are off menu. My friend Dali, had the "Alcapurria" filled with shrimp (All fritters are $2), which I even tried and was delicious (Alcapurria is Another way of making fried plantains but stuffed and deep fried. She had as a main entrée the "Loaded Fries" a.k.a. "Papas locas" and had the "4TA" which are fries topped with Ham, pastrami, beef, chicken, mayoketchup sauce, cilantro garlic sauce, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes for $8.00. She thoroughly enjoyed them! Her significant other, Ricardo, ordered the dish known as 911, which is a mix of fried pork, fried chicken chunks and steak with the side of your choice. He ordered it with mofongo which is the best way to eat fried plantains (I'm sure you are noticing a pattern of friend plantain... Yup, Puerto Rican are obsessed with it and YOU will be too). This dish is $13.50, but if you would like to kick it up a notch, for an additional $3.00 you can add shrimp. Both, Ricardo and Dali had Piña Coladas ($4.00e) which are CRAZY huge and worth the $4. Looking back, Ricardo and Dali agreed they could of shared one. THE FOOD- Second Visit-"El Jibarito" and "Chicharrones de pollo": Juan ordered the "Jibarito" sandwich, valued at $7.50, you get two fried plantains, instead of bread, with lettuce, tomato, mayoketchup, cheese and a side of french fries. You can select between Chicken, steak, pork or pastrami and Juan went for Steak. He enjoyed it as well and indicated he would definitely recommend it. I ordered the "chicharrones de pollo", a.k.a. "pollo frito" or fried chicken with a side of mofongo ($10.00). Ladies and gentlemen...Love, love is all I felt. I loved the perfectly seasoned chicken and mofongo and I can't wait to have it again. Overall, service was perfect and friendly, food took a while (but be patience, it's freshly prepared and worth the wait) and the food is tasty and fairly priced! We've been wanting to try Willie's Pinchos for a while and we finally did! The place is super small! Once opened, customers are rushing in and out. I walked in and ordered with the intentions of taking it to-go because there were no available tables for us at the time. While I waited, a table cleared up and the owner's wife had no problem with us eating our food there. I ordered a chicken pincho, Jibarito for my husband, and the Papas Locas (loaded fries) for me and my son to share. We waited a good 25 minutes for our food. I must say, it was worth the wait and awkward crowdedness. The pinchos are huge! Only get one if you're getting other food. We felt the Chicken was a bit dry but I'd try a different one next time (chicken always seems dry to me especially if grilled). The Jibarito is also huge! I mean, perfect for my husband as he devoured it! The Papas locas for me, were a hit! Amazing combination of toppings and flavors. If you're a french fry lover like me, these will take you to French fry heaven! Willie's definitely took loaded fries to whole new level! Amazing! This was a 4 star overall experience for us. We will definitely be back! The service is good however, I had to really brush up on my Spanish for certain questions I had. THE BEST TRIPLETA I have eaten here in the United States. It felt like I was in Puerto Rico. The bread was soft and the meats were perfectly cooked and so tasty. And let's not forget about the mayo-ketchup. I'm just dreaming about this right now. My sister ordered the Pincho de Cerdo (Pork skewer) and I had a piece and it was delicious. Crispy in the outside but juicy and full of flavor in the inside. The place is very small but the staff are all so nice and they treat you like if they have known you forever. The trick to avoid the long lines is to call ahead of time and place the order at least 20 min before getting there. By the time you do the line and get to the cashier to pay your food will be ready. Five stars for the food and homely service! We went here for a late dinner, 6 mins before closing time. Though late, the owner's wife was happy to let us dine-in at our own pace (the food arrived much after the closing time)! That was a very welcoming gesture! The lovely lady has a knack to connect with her customers! She even told us about their journey from owning a food truck to featuring on Triple D. Ambiance - The place is very small and you might have to share a table with strangers. It is a hustling but very friendly little restaurant. A small hitch we had was in communicating with our server who was not very comfortable with English. But we were fortunate to share our table with two ladies from Puerto Rico who helped us out. They even told us that the flavors are very authentic and remind them of home! Food - The food was warm and beautifully served. The flavors were cohesive! We ordered Virgin Piña colada (must try), a pork jibaritos (a fried plantain sandwich with pork inside), and a Carne Frita (pork with mofongo). While the mofongo was a little dry, the pork was juicy, not very greasy, tender; and perfectly seasoned. The portion size are huge btw! We had to take-out most of the food for the next meal. We thought the cost of the food was reasonable because of the portion size and because everything is cooked fresh (stays longer). Final thoughts - Be ready to wait for a long time, they are swamped. Customer service was pretty trash. I entered this spot and saw there was multiple parties of people dining in so I asked for my meal to go. Unfortunately, they were very busy the day prior and were out of stock of many items, so maybe call ahead if you plan on going. They refused to let me eat my meal there although it was paid for, they said I should have said it in the beginning that I planned on eating in.
