This location was very nice and clean! Friendly staff! My beans and rice were cold. I ordered the Baja burrito. I got a vegetable and before I say what I wanted inside my burrito. The cook put cheese and the sautéed onions and peppers that I requested inside the tortilla and placed it on the grill. I didn't get a chance to say what else I wanted inside of it. They barely put any toppings on a bowl, I had to ask for extra everything because the employee was picking things up with the tips of his fingers. The extra chips are a joke. I'll take Willy's over Moe's or Chipotle any day of the week. First off, they don't shout at you when you come in here. That is probably my #1 peeve about Moe's. There's nothing welcoming about an obligatory scream in the face. The ingredients they use here just seem all around cleaner and more tasty than their competitors. There are so many different choices, all of which can be customized by your personal preference or mood, which I like a lot. The steak here is really good, and so is the garlic chicken (forgot what the flavor was called.) Out of all the chains in this area for mexican, Willy's definitely has the best steak. It's flavored with a bit of garlic, and very juicy. A burrito will fill you up for sure, and usually two tacos is also sufficient to satisfy your appetite. The quesidillas are also pretty good, and a grande one should be more than enough for one person. It's not the best burrito ever, but for the price and if you are tight on time, it's a solid play. read more

The Background: A local chain restaurant that has good sized portions at cheap prices. This location is nicer than others given its proximity to Emory. This is a perfect restaurant for the college student in a rush. The Positives: The food is pretty tasty and you get a lot of it for the amount you pay. A solid entry in the taco parade. What really works at Willy's is the ability to control every ingredient that gets on the tacos by guiding the tacoristas through the build. I love that. I really like that I can build a burrito in a bowl like it is one of those "salads" from the salad bar at Ryan's. It just becomes a big meal of flavor clumps. Big meal, six bucks, yay. Somehow, the place seems to be better quality than Moe's and way better than the Mexi-chain restaurants. The tacos aren't as good as Taqueria del Sol but, well, I'm building them instead of the Eddie. I like/hate that they give me free chips. I can't help but mow them down when they are SO not worth the calories. They're not bad chips but I don't really need any more corn chips, well, for the rest of my life. This location feels friendly and the screened in patio is a nice touch. I don't find the staff particularly interesting or offensive. The parking can be a problem in this small lot. I wanna really like it more than I do but it just doesn't grab me. On the other hand, it is right in my path so it is a solid inexpensive meal on the way home. read more

I have probably eaten at Willy's hundreds of times with never a bad meal. This is the best Mexican-influenced food of its type. My favorites: chicken burritos with pinto beans, quesadillas, nachos with meat (super or regular) and, when I want to eat healthy, chicken salad (good all year). The line moves fast once the people in front of you in line make up their minds about what they're ordering. Staff is helpful; new staffers predictably have only basic English skills. The same man has been taking my lunch order at the N. Decatur/Clairmont location for years. Good for lunch or dinner. No table service, therefore no "date" ambience. Bottled beverages are available, including Mexican import beer, and fountain drinks. Occasionally you get yesterday's nacho chips. Get there right after the lunch rush, and they may not have had a chance to clean up yet. Fresher tasting than Moe's Southwest Grill and more flavorful than Chipotle. read more

Good and quick service Mexican restaurant. Recently went here and had a delicious spicy chicken taco while friends ordered burritos and thorougly enjoyed it. The best part about Willy's is the cheese dip. A trip to Willy's is not complete without the cheese dip. It tastes good on the taco and on the free chips that come with your meal. It is hard to give Willy's, Moe's or Chipotle anything more than three stars because, well, it is what it is - solid, DIY, southwest/mexican food. I have started to give Willy's a chance after eating at Moe's for so long and there is no question the meats are better. Ordered two tacos (Sinaloa chicken, sinaloa tofu), and the Willy nachos with steak but none of the cheesy sauce; which came out to a total of about 15 bucks. Both tacos came with free tortilla chips, and there is a self-serve salsa bar so you can take your pick of tomatillo, chipotle, or habanero. Great set up! Except for the actual quality of the food. Something was seriously wrong with the taste and texture of the pico de gallo that ended up on our tacos and nachos... The tomatoes were flavorless and really mushy, almost as if they had been frozen and then thawed or otherwise reconstituted. I didnt get the sense that it was very fresh, at any rate. The tofu flavor really put me off, too--I have never really eaten a tofu dish that I didn't like, until now. The marinade worked much better with the chicken than the tofu. We are not coming back. You know, I can't really distinguish this place from Chipotle, Moe's or even Q'doba. They all taste the same to me. But, what this place has going for it is the screened in patio and great service. The food, though, tastes like it's really americanized. I tried the adobe chicken burrito which was good but filled with less meat and more beans and rice. I have been to most of the Willy's locations in and around Atlanta over the past several years and this one is one of my favorites. Whenever my kids come to visit they always ask to go to Willy's for two reasons: 1) East Hampton, New York does not have any San Francisco style burrito chains (that I or they know of) and 2) Willy's was their favorite place to eat in Atlanta before they moved to New York. My daughter loves the kids burrito with chicken (non-spicy), black beans, rice, cheese, and sour cream (costs extra). My son loves the kids burrito with pinto beans, chicken (non-spicy) and cheese. My son also loves the green sauce as an accompaniment to his burrito and chips; whereas my daughter prefers a side of sour cream (cost extra) to dip her chips. Willy's is perhaps one of a handful (if not the only one) of restaurants I can take my kids and be sure that they will eat their food. They are picky / finicky eaters. I like the burritos, quesadillas, and salads. I think their salsa bar is ten times better than Moe's and most chain burrito places do not even have a salsa bar at all. I will state for the record that my kids absolute favorite Wily's location, is the one on Howell Mill Rd. The reason for this is because lots of families bring their kids there on Friday evenings and on Saturday afternoons, so it has a very kid friendly / kid-centric vibe - especially on the patio deck area of the restaurant. On Friday nights a guitarist plays songs for tips on the aformentmentioned patio / deck. But lately I usally stick with the N. Decatur location (near Emory) or the Moreland Ave location (past L5P in the Sembler complex). Parking at both of the aforementioned locations can be somewhat dicey. read more

To be honest, I used to come here at least twice every week when I was in high school at druid hills. The food was great, service was great, and it was our favorite spot. When I left for college, every time I came home, my parents got willy's for me. You get the point. Willy's is close to my heart. But lately, the service has just gone to crap. The guy who made my burrito today was nice (he had a mustache), and the chick working the register (she was chill. Had a nose ring) was sweet. Everyone else... Even the manager wore sour faces, and were not friendly. I came in in a pretty good mood. I left grumpy, came home, stuck my burrito in the fridge and at ice cream instead. The food is good. It is. But is it worth going in the and seeing the unhappy people there? No. No. NO. Willy. You're awesome. Your burritos are pretty damn good. (not California pretty damn good, but still) The other locations are better--at least the ones I've been to. But this one should be taken off the map. This is one dirty Willys-- please shut down for a week and have a deep clean, replace booths, paint, etc. Has not changed since we brought our son as a baby and he is in high school now. Used to have a good crew, evening crew is depressed, zombie-like. I place the blame on management, it is their responsibility for cleanliness and employee management. Even the food is upgraded, with new salsas and drinks and, get this: A test kitchen, making this Willy's possibly the most interesting one in town. (They had a new Mahi taco, for example.) Located near Emory and Clairmont campus, this place is an institution for college kids. I am not generally a fan of tex-mex places - aside from the select few. If you like burritos, people love 'em. Personally, I am a hardshell taco / quesadilla / nacho fan. ( I like the extra-badness that comes along with the fried goodness). The meat options here taste really good to me and they're pretty fair sized. Prices are MUCH more reasonable than at Moe's and it tastes better too. GO! read more

There are a million places to eat in Atlanta. Why would my wife and I go to this particular place at least once a week for 12+ years ? Two reasons: 1) every time I walk in there are people who act like they are genuinely happy I'm there. Daniel, one of the managers, is without a doubt happy I'm there- which makes me feel VERY happy. It's as close to "Cheers" as you are going to get. A solid steak burrito for lunch and the ability to sit "outside" on the patio = quality. The tortilla was thicker and "meatier" than it's counterpart at Chipotle, but was tender and held everything together - what else could you ask for? Steak was juicy, cheese was fresh, and rice was not dry. Willy's chipotle salsa is very, very good - love the smoke! Not a huge fan of their hot sauce they had available and wished the steak itself was spicier, but not enough to complain about. Free chips and salsa are always appreciated. I would give a zero if that were an option. I have gone to Willy's since they had a store at Peachtree Center 15+ years ago. I have been a faithful fan. Tonight we tried to go to this store. My wife isn't feeling well and we decided to grab something quick. My daughter and I showed up at 6:50. As we got to the door, it had a note that it was closing at 7:00. As we were driving up a man walked in and I guess they locked the door. after him. It was definitely 6:50 as I checked my iPhone and watch. I knocked. The Willy's employee closest to us looked up and then quickly looked down. I knocked again with no acknowledgement. The degree of rudeness is not measurable. I promise we will never go to that store again and I will relay this to all my neighbors in Decatur. Stay away! read more

Willy's is my favorite place for burritos - much better than Moe's. The ingredients are fresh and tasty, and I love the salsa. Having your food being made fresh to order is great. The people are nice and the atmosphere is good. Sometimes you have to wait a few minutes if the line is long. This location has a covered outside area. I also have used them for catering and highly recommend that as well. Good place for kids. read more

So we were tired of pizza and chinese take out and decided to try the steak burrito platter at Willie's for take out. We ordered on line and specified a 6:50 pick up time. We arrived promptly at 6:50 and saw many individuals going into the restaurant without masks and without social distancing. We saw that Willie's will do curb side pick up so we called and told them we were right out front. We were told "its ready...be right out". Ten minutes later we are still sitting there. Called again. Another five minute wait it someone sullenly brought out the food. ICE COLD of course. AND no salsa or cheese dip for the chips which is supposed to be included. We got home and had to reheat everything which is difficult since the hot and cold items are all on the same plate. Had to transfer burrito, beans and rice to a microwave plate and keep the cold items (sour cream, tomatoes and guac) cold. Are we having fun yet? The beef in the burrito was chewy and horrible tasting. Yuck. I won't be ordering from them every again Really gross! read more
